SINCE ABBY, BONNIE'S MOM, WAS HAVING SUCH A HARD TIME dealing with the fact that she was a vampire now and that she lost her witch powers, Caroline and Charlie thought that they would help you. That is how the ended up walking up the driveway of Abby's house to where Bonnie was standing on the porch. The Lockwood girl held up an ice chest as the blonde girl told their friend. "Hey. We totally lucked out. The hospital just had a blood drive, so I got some O negatives, some A's, and my personal favorite β B positive."
"I made her a daylight ring," the Bennett girl informed them, gesturing to where her mother was standing by an empty birdbath and staring at the plants all around her. "She's been standing out there all morning. I don't think she's taking this very well."
"Well, it's only been a few days since she turned. Your mom is still adjusting," the younger girl assured her. Everyone had a hard time during their transition and afterwards. It was normal to feel like the woman was.
They all walked over to Abby who was running her hand along the petals of a flower. Caroline asked her in a delicate voice, "Ms. Wilson, why don't you come inside? Have something to drink?"
"I can't feel it any more. My garden, it's gone. I can't feel anything," the woman informed them, and then she left them standing there and went inside, still looking all depressed as the door swung closed behind her.
Caroline and Charlie furrowed their eyebrows, wondering what she meant by that. "I don't understand."
"Witches have a connection to the Earth. We can literally feel nature. Life," the witch explained, and she cupped her hands around both sides of one of the dead plants next to them. She recited a spell, and the plant began to bloom int a beautiful flower. "When Abby became a vampire, she lost it. I don't know how to help her."
Later that day, the two girls decided to leave the mother and daughter alone and head to the back of the garden where Jamie was chopping some wood. Jamie lived with Abby, and she had kind of raised him ever since she dated his dad and he left him with her.
They walked up to him, and Caroline commented on something that both she and Charlie had noticed since they had been there. "Haven't seen you up at the house. Abby's been asking for you."
"I've been pretty busy," he answered with a sigh, and then both of the girls reached down to pick up some of the wood that he had been chopping. They jumped away, startled, when he started yelling, "Hey! Hey! Stay away from me!"
"Easy! We were just gonna help you carry the fire wood up," the Forbes girl exclaimed.
Charlie furrowed her eyebrows though, noticing the way that he immediately opposed them helping him and how he had been avoiding the house and Abby recently. She came to a conclusion based on her observations. "You're scared of her."
"She's a vampire," he defended, not needing to ask who she was talking about. He acted like that was a valid reason to be scared, but he had known this woman for years. He knew that she would never hurt him, at least not on purpose.
"She needs to feel connected to the people she loves," the brunette told him because that woman was going through all of it alone. She had her daughter that was still mad at her for leaving her, but she needed to know that Jamie still loved her, even thought something major had changed. "She needs to feel normal right now."
Jamie scoffed, rolling his eyes like they were asking something completely ridiculous of him. "She's not normal. None of this is normal!"
"Well, Abby didn't choose this, this was forced on her. She could have let herself die, but she didn't. She's trying to make this work so she can be there for you and for Bonnie. So, just get over yourself, okay? " Caroline explained, and her phone started to ring. She walked away and answered it as Charlie followed her, still glaring at the boy. "Hey, what's going on?"
"Bonnie's not returning any of my calls," Elena exhaled on the other line as the hybrid listened into the call with her superhearing. Bonnie was still upset with Elena since Abby became a vampire to save her. She knew that it was not her fault, but she could not help but be a little mad at her still.
The blonde girl responded, "Sorry, she's still mad and seriously, Abby's transition has been a little rough, so she's got a lot on her mind."
"I know and I get it but, something really terrible has happened to Ric and...and I really need her help," the Gilbert girl informed them, and the younger girl fought the urge to groan. Caroline shot her a look as she continued to talk to Elena about what was happening. Of course she needed Bonnie's help while she was trying to be there for her mom. Charlie knew that Bonnie would do it too because she loved Elena, no matter how mad she was at her.
Once she was off the phone, the Forbes girl turned to her friend with an annoyed expression since they really did not need any more problems at that moment. She informed her, "Alaric is being possessed by some evil spirit or something, and they need a witch to reverse the magic."
"That's just great."

CHARLIE WAS SITTING OUTSIDE WITH JAMIE WHO WAS UNCONSCIOUS. He had finally gone inside, and Abby had attacked him. It made her feel kind of bad for guilting him to go inside, but it had to happen sooner or later. She gave him some of her blood, and now they were waiting for him to wake up as Caroline talked to Bonnie and Abby about the thing that Elena wanted. She stepped back outside, and the Lockwood stood up. "How did it go?"
"Abby thinks Bonnie can reverse the damage of the spell," she answered, and they both plopped back down on the cushioned seat on the porch. "I guess this same thing happens to witches who get obsessed with dark magic. They lose control and start acting out their darkest impulses."
"It's good that she can fix it," the brunette responded.
"I'm staying here with Abby, but Bonnie's heading over to Elena's to figure it out," the vampire told her after nodding. She raised her eyebrows at her friend, but she was pretty sure that she already knew the answer to the question that she was about to ask. "Wanna go with her?"
Charlie shook her head quickly, not wanting to have to deal with Elena. She was waiting for the older girl to apologize, but she had not yet. She thought about apologizing herself, but she did not regret anything that she had said or done to her. "No, I'll stay here with you."
"Still mad at Elena, huh?" the blonde girl asked. It was kind of tiring when all of her friends were mad at each other, but it was kind of a big change because usually, someone was mad at her. Now, no one was mad at her, which was scary.
The other girl shrugged and smiled. "And I love you."
"Am I even doing this right?" the blonde girl asked Jamie as the three of them were in the garden, potting plants. They hoped that this would make Abby happy since most of the plants in her garden were dead or dying.
He had woken up about an hour ago, and he was surprisingly calm about the fact that his mother figure almost drained al of the blood out of his body. "He glanced at her before assuring her, "Yeah, you're doing fine. Hey, uh, thanks for helping out with Abby. Bonnie's really lucky to have a friend like you."
"Well, I went through the same thing once. With my dad. But it didn't really work out, so...you know. Well, when Bonnie gets back she can snap her fingers or wave her hands or whatever and make the herbs bloom," the Forbes girl said, dusting her hands up as she looked down at their work. Neither of the girls had been gardeners, so they had no clue if they did anything right, but Jamie had not yelled at them yet. So, they assumed that they had not killed the plants.
"I think Abby's up," Charlie informed them, sensing something inside the house. Jamie stayed in the garden while the vampires went to check on her. They furrowed their eyebrows when they stepped inside to see her writing a letter with a suitcase right next to her. "What are you doing?"
As she scanned the room, the Forbes girl realized that she was writing a goodbye letter. She scoffed, "You're leaving. You're kidding me."
"I have to. I don't know how to do this," the woman informed them, shaking her head. She clearly was taking the coward's way out. She just did not want to have to deal with anything, so she was convincing herself that her daughter was better off without her.
"Do what? Be a vampire or a parent? Because I can help you be a vampire, I can teach you self-control, but being a parent, I mean that's all you," the blonde girl informed the woman, snapping. "Bonnie grew up without a mom, because you ran away once, but now you have an eternity to make up for it and you're just gonna throw that away?"
Abby sighed, insisting, "She's better off without me."
"No, she's not. No one is better off without their parents. She wants to make this work. Please. Just stay," the Lockwood told her. She was so sick of people's parents thinking that the child would be better off with none at all. Bill Forbes abandoned his daughter because of his hatred for vampires, and that made no sense to her.
The Wilson woman just stood up and grabbed her bag before heading to the door as the two girls watched her in disbelief. "Tell them I'm sorry."
Then, she left.
