"I STILL CANNOT BELIEVE THAT YOU'RE A WEREWOLF," Caroline exclaimed as she, Elena, and Charlie were at the Mystic Falls Historical Society Volunteer Day, setting up for the picnic later. The Lockwood was using her pocket knife to cut open some paint cans. "And I can't believe that you didn't tell anyone."
Charlie sighed because she felt bad, and pretty much everyone in their little supernatural club had been asking her about it. "I know. I know. I'm sorry, but to be fair, you didn't tell me that you were a vampire. I had to find out myself.
"Really? That's the best you could do?" the blonde girl questioned with raised eyebrows. She had not even known that she was a vampire until almost twelve hourse before everyone found out.
"Yeah..." the Lockwood trailed off, looking down at her feet. Then she glanced up at the Forbes girl with a questioning look, changing the subject. "Anyway, how are you adjusting to being a vampire?"
Caroline then started rambling on, "Oh, my God. It's been so hard keeping this from my mom. So suddenly, she's in the running for Mother of the Year just when I'm trying to avoid her the most. I'm babbling, you don't want to hear all this."
"Oh, no. Sorry," Elena muttered when they realized that she had kind of spaced out for a moment. They grabbed the paint cans off of one of the tables and walked over to one of the small pavilions. "Then, what happened?"
"Well, I was a bitch which is par for the course with us. So, how are things with you and Stefan? Anything?" the blonde girl finished before switching the direction of the conversation again since Stefan and Elena had kind of broken up. Charlie had not really gotten the whole story, and seemed crazy to her since the two seemed to be so in love. However, that was what Caroline told her, so she just assumed that while hearing the conversation.
Elena shook her head as they placed the paint cans down and started touching up the paint on the pillars of the pavillion. "No, not since the fight."
"What happened to you guys? You seemed so happy," the werewolf questioned with raised eyebrows.
"He's been pushing me away because he thinks that Katherine might get jealous enough to hurt me," the Gilbert girl explained, and she seemed pretty bummed out about it. "I just don't know how to change his mind."
"You said that Katherine's dangerous. Maybe he's got a point," the Forbes girl ponted out as she crouched down to get more paint on her brush.
Elena nodded slowly at that as if she were mulling it over in her brain. "Yeah, I know that she's dangerous and I know that he's just trying to protect me but it feels like giving up and I just...I just thought that we were stronger than that."
"Oh, oh. Longing looks are being exchanged," Caroline mumbled when she noticed the two exes staring at each other after a couple of minutes of painting.
Elena sighed, dropping her paint brush in the bucket and standing up, straightening out her pants, and she announced to them, "I'm gonna go talk to him."
"No, Elena," the blonde girl called. "I think it's a bad idea." It was too late because she already walking over there, not listening to her friend's protests.
"Why do you want them apart so bad?" Charlie asked curiously, raising her eyebrows at her friend who seemed oddly desperate for Elena and Stefan to be broken up. Like, really desperate.
The vampire shook her head and scoffed slightly, "I don't want them to be apart. I just don't want her to screw everything up by talking to him too fast. We need to discuss what she's gonna say."
"Okay. Whatever you say," the Lockwood responded.
Then, Damon came up to them, standing behind Caroline as she watched Elena and Stefan talk a couple yards away from them. He asked, gesturing to the Gilbert girl. "What's her problem?"
"Don't worry about it.
Then, he turned to look at her, but she stayed almost glaring at the ex couple. "Why are you being such a bitch to our mom?"
"Don't worry about it."
Tired of the man prying about everyone's lived, the younger girl turned to him with furrowed eyebrows. "Why are you such a bitch all the time?'
"Don't worry about it," he joked with a smug smile, causing her to just roll her eyes at him and turn back around to her painting while the vampires eavesdropped on Stefan and Elena's conversation.
Later, the two found Elena sitting off to the side somewhere on a log, and she looked like she had a lot of stuff going around in her head. They joined her side, and the Lockwood girl asked, "You okay?"
"No," the other girl mumbled.
The blonde girl looked like she was sorry about something, and she kept staring at her feet that were curled up in front of her. "You know, maybe it's for the best."
"It's not for the best, Caroline. None of this is for the best," the Gilbert girl practically yelled, throwing her hands up in the air. When she saw the almost hurt look on her friend's face, she continued, "I'm sorry, okay? I...I don't mean to take it out on you. You guys are just being good friends."
"No, I'm not. I'm not being a good friend at all," Caroline sighed, and she opened her mouth like she was about to admit something when she saw her mother leaving the park. "Is she leaving? Where is my mom going?" She got up and ran over to the woman while her friends followed slowly, not wanting to intrude on the mother-daughter talk.
After a moment, they watched Sheriff Forbes walk away with teary eyes, and they ran up to the blonde girl. "What's going on?"
"I don't know. Something's up." Then, she went running straight into the woods, her ears twitching as she ran because she was listening in on something. Elena and Charlie looked to each other in confusion before rushing after her.
"Where are you going?" Elena exclaimed, slightly out of breath because she was the only one there without powers that gave them enhanced physical abilities. "What's going on?"
"I need to be able to hear better. Shh," she ordered, holding a finger to her mouth to quiet them down.
Instead of just standing there and waiting for Caroline to tell them what was happening, the werewolf strained her ears and her nose to see if she could figure out what she was talking about. When she heard it, her eyes widened, and her head whipped around to the blonde girl. "Did you hear that?"
"What?" the Gilbert girl asked, looking between the two in confusion. "What is it? What's happening? Someone talk to me."
"It's Stefan and Damon."

"WHAT ARE YOU THREE DOING OUT HERE?" The girls had been following the scent of the Salvatore brothers, and they had just found blood on a plant when they heard the familiar voice. They whipped around to see Mason Lockwood standing there.
"I think a better question is what are you doing out here?" Charlie asked as furrowed her eyebrows, taking a step toward her Uncle while she tried to switch the topic onto him. "Shouldn't you be helping set up?"
He nodded to her and gestured to her friends beside her. "I could say the same thing for you three."
"Have you seen Stefan?" Elena interrupted, pushing past the younger girl and looking up at the man curiously.
"Yeah Elena, I've seen him. Seen Damon too, but you don't need me for that. I'll let your friends here sniff them out," he responded, gesturing to the blonde and his niece like she was just some random girl he ran into. He looked at the vampire with a small smirk. "Does your mother know what you are? I'm happy to tell her." Both Caroline and Charlie try to lunge at him, but he then grabbed Elena and held her so that he was strangling her with his arm under her chin as she struggled against his hold. "Don't be stupid. Necks snap easily around here."
"I can take you," the Forbes girl muttered threateningly, and Charlie saw her fists clench so hard that her knuckles turned while. The werewolf girl did the same so that she was prepared to fight if she needed to. She was definitely not opposed to kicking the crap out of her uncle.
He raised his eyebrows, daring them to. "Wanna bet?"
"Yeah, I do," the blonde responded, and before any of them could even blink, she rushed toward him and freed Elean from his grip before shoving him against the tree. He grunted as he tried to fight her, but she was stronger than he was. "She kneed him in the groin and pushed him down onto all fours. She then kicked him hard in the stomach which sent him flying against a tree and falling onto the ground. She then gestured to both the standing girl and the one that had fallen because of the impact. "Come on."
"You guys go ahead. I'll be there in a second. I've got something to take care of," Charlie told them, her glare not leaving her uncle that was groaning on the forest floor.
Caroline nodded, understanding what she was saying. "Okay. Come find us when you're done." Then, she and Elena kept running into the woods toward the scent and sound of the people that they were looking for, and the Lockwood girl spun around to face the man that was slowly climbing to her feet.
"Charlie, what the hell are you doing?" he quizzed, holding his side slightly as he straightened up. His face held disappointment, but she really could not give a crap. "Hanging around with vampires? I thought I taught you better than that."
"Shut the hell up," she ordered angrily, and she took a couple large strides toward him and shoved him hard so that he almost fell over again. She was so pissed that she did not even care that he was hurt. She just wanted him to hurt more.
He looked at her with a shocked and somewhat confused expression, and he exclaimed, "What the hell, Char?"
"Don't 'Char' me! You almost just killed Elena! For what? There was absolutely no reason for that," she shrieked at him. God, why did he have to be such a freaking dick all the freaking time? At least her dad was aware that he was a dick and not just go around on his high horse thinking that he was so amazing.
He scoffed, "I wasn't actually going to kill her."
"I don't freaking care, Mason," she informed him, and then she lunged toward him and pressed him up against a tree just like Caroline had done moments earlier. She looked him straight in the eye to let him know that she was being serious, and she was so mad that her nostrils were actually flaring. "If you ever touch one of my friends again, I'll make sure that it's the last thing that you do."
Then, she took out the pocket knife that she had used to open the paint cans earlier and stabbed him in the leg.
