STANDING STANDING ON THE MURKY OCEAN WATERS OF THE NIGHT, ASTRO'S SHOULDERS SLUMPED, DEFEATEDLY WATCHING AS GIGANTRON STOPPED MOVING. Her glowing eyes rapidly blinking now as she shook her head, and ran her suited hands over her head to where her hair would be, leaving them lingering against her neck for a moment as a sigh left her lips.
She swallowed a lump in her throat as her gaze grew more sympathetic towards the fallen creature, a long exhale leaving her lips. "They killed Gigantron." She whispered with a disbelieving look now, her eyes narrowing against the scene, "Why would they-"
Astro scoffed now not being able to even voice the rest of her question, her hands slipping from her neck and clenching at her sides. Her views on the KDF before were not good ones, but this was something else entirely. The organization's reckless disregard for life was staggering, and Astro's anger simmered just below the surface.
Before she could grow further enraged, she was brought to reality by Ultraman's panicked tone, "Uh, sparkles, I think it's a bomb." Her eyes now widened as she quickly glanced over to the male, who was kneeled over by the object that the kaiju had been trying to protect, which was now beeping.
"Are you an idiot? Let go--" She bit her lip to try and keep her own fear from showing as she approached the male cautiously, her heart racing as she heard it beep faster and louder, and then it broke apart, startling the girl who had been waiting for some sort of explosion.
Astro sighed in relief when she realized it was not a bomb, and instead a weird purple egg that now laid on Ultraman's hands, earning a tilt of her head from the girl, who hugged her arms close against her chest, inspecting it from the safe distance she had taken from the male, when she thought he was holding a bomb.
Her heart clenched now as she understood now that Gigantron was just trying to protect her egg, but just when it seemed like it wouldn't get crazier, the crackling sound coming from the egg made the girl's eyes widen as she now kicked herself through the water and towards the male.
"No. No, no, no, no, no." Ultraman muttered now his anxious expression suggesting he already understood the implications of what lay inside. Astro's attention shifted from his panic to the egg, her heart racing as she watched it begin to crack. The male shook his head and continued on with his disbelieving mumbling.
When the small creature finally emerged from the egg, it began to coo softly, yawning as it shook off remnants of the shell. Its vibrant skin glowed in hues of pink and orange, a stark contrast against the dark waters. Ultraman gently brushed away the last of the egg shell from the baby's head, a tender gesture that seemed to deepen the situation's surreal quality.
The tiny creature hiccupped and sniffled adorably, its eyes fluttering open. As it now looked at them, the baby's face lit up with delight, and it lifted its small claws toward Astro, cooing expectantly towards the girl who immediately shook her head, knowing this kaiju baby probably saw her as its mother.
"Uh, no!" She squeaked, instinctively hiding behind Ultraman, her cheeks warming as she struggled to suppress a flustered smile. The baby kaiju's innocent gaze made her heart soften, longing awaking within her even as fear of the unknown surged.
Ultraman, however, seemed to be entranced by the creature, his robotic eyes softening but soon, both superheroes now shifted their attentions towards the sound of helicopters whirring in the distance, to which the male now spoke. "We should go." He concluded now, to which Astro whose eyes narrowed towards the aircrafts, before flickering over to his own.
"Where?" She whispered the question, as if it were to disturb the baby who cooed in the male's arms, her heart swelling at the sight but she knew that they couldn't let the KDF get ahold of the baby as well.
Ultraman's gaze faltered, his eyes dropping to the baby in his arms before he looked up at Astro, a hint of reluctance in his voice. "My place," He grumbled with the words sounding forced, as if he was intentionally rebuilding the wall between them that had temporarily been down.
Astro's eyes searched his, trying to read his expression, but his helm his face kept it neutral, giving nothing away. She nodded, trying to keep her tone light even if she felt like she was taking two steps back from reconciling with the male, "Great. Just what I always wanted. A trip to Ultraman's secret lair."
His stare lingered on hers for a moment, a flicker of amusement tugging at his features behind his mask, before he looked away, his expression once again neutral. "Let's move," His voice was firm, and she now knew that the moment of tentative connection between them was over.
Ultraman was the first one to dive inside the waters, his form disappearing as he made sure to cradle the baby safely into his arms, while Astro lingered behind for a few moments, her gaze landing on Gigantron.
Her shoulders slumped in resignation, a deep sigh escaped her as she felt the weight of sorrow settle upon her heart. "I'm sorry," She murmured quietly into the void, her voice barely above the whisper of the waves before she slipped beneath the surface, following after him into the darkness. The water rippled and churned as she swam deeper.

AS THEY SWAM THROUGH THE DEPTHS, THE MUTED LIGHT PRESSED DOWN OVERHEAD, glimmers dancing like stars through the ocean. Time slipped by as they moved swiftly toward Kenji's home, each stroke filled with urgency and purpose. From afar, Mina caught sight of them through the glass window, gliding toward the entrance with fluid grace.
Kenji's fists struck against the entrance door, and a beeping device echoed through the water, creating a rhythmic pulse as the barrier opened with a whoosh. They slid through with a rush, a splash of water cascading around them as they entered the warm embrace of the lobby.
Both superheroes gasped out at the contrast between the cold, murky ocean waters, and the floor of the main lobby, although both were breathing shakily in return. "Mina! Emergency analysis!" Kenji's voice rang out, urgency lending power to his words as he breathed the words out.
The door sealed once more behind them, the tension of the chaos outside slowly giving way to a moment of reprieve. Water pooled around their feet, a small reminder of the world they had just left behind. The lobby's warm lighting cast a faint golden glow on their suits, illuminating the fatigue etched on their features. Astro's eyes seemed to gleam with a mixture of relief and trepidation.
Mina's digital form undulated like a jellyfish, her lights pulsating with a soothing rhythm. Her device emitted a soft, blue glow that danced across their bodies, illuminating the intricate patterns of their suits.
Astro shifted uncomfortably, her eyes darting toward the kaiju, who was still nestled in Kenji's arms. The baby's tiny chest rose and fell with each breath, her small hands curled into fists. Kenji's gaze remained fixed on the baby that was shielded from Mina's view at the moment, his expression a mask of concern.
"Scanning for injuries," Mina informed as she followed his orders, gliding gracefully toward them with her scanning device, circling both heroes as (Y/N) shifted to sit up with worry etched across her features, her eyes flickering to ensure the small creature was unharmed.
The scanner blinked red, and Mina momentarily froze before her voice turned puzzled. "Ken, this is very strange." Her typically calm tone was laced with confusion, "According to my readings, you have a-- a second heartbeat?"
(Y/N) chuckled lightly, suppressing a grin as she shook her head at the confused AI. "No, it's not his heartbeat, Mina," She interjected, her eyes sparkling mischievously as she watched Kenji attempt to sit up with the baby still nestled against him. "Although it would be fun to see 'Mama Ken.'" She couldn't help but tease, despite knowing he might not find it funny.
Kenji cast the girl a warning glance before his attention shifted back to the baby, who stirred in his hold as he now moved his hands that had previously shielded it from view, the small creature curled up in his chest.
"Oh, my god. Is that--" Mina's exclamation was cut short by the tiny kaiju's cooing, its adorable head tilting to meet her gaze, orange fins quivering with excitement as it reached out for the floating AI, looking every bit like the innocent creature Gigantron intended to protect.
"Yep, it's the end of the world," Kenji sighed rather dramatically, finally able to sit upright. Yet in the motion, the little kaiju slipped from his grasp, tumbling down his armored form.
(Y/N) gasped, concern flooding her as she watched it slide to the floor, but relief washed over her as the creature landed with a soft thud, spinning around in surprise before settling into a steady position, unharmed and adorably curious. The relief in their hearts was palpable as they exchanged glances.
"Um... is it okay?" Kenji spoke the question out in an almost cautious manner, his eyes fixated on the baby as it wobbled, attempting to grasp at Mina's form, yet the AI hovered just out of reach, dodging the eager little creature.
"'She', Ken," Mina corrected the male, her voice soothing yet authoritative. "The infant is a 'she'." The atmosphere shifted slightly, a blend of tension and endearment hanging in the air as both heroes adjusted to the new reality of their unexpected companion.
The baby began to attempt its clumsy crawl toward their legs, wiggling adorably as if trying to embark on a tiny adventure. The girl couldn't help but pout in awe, soon hearing as the AI's medical report.
"Her breathing seems normal. Reflexes okay." She floated gracefully just above the small creature who tried to reach for her, while the infant inclined further toward Mina, little jumps propelling her forward. "Heart rate seems slightly elevated, but--"
Kenji's patience wore thin, and he snatched the baby into his hands, cradling her gently before she could tumble again in her playful pursuits. "Just give us the bad news," He urged Mina, glancing down at the tiny creature nestled securely between his palms, pressing his gaze into the AI's sensors with a hint of urgency.
"I have absolutely no specific data on infant kaiju physiology." Mina says, a note of gravity in her voice that matched the sudden shock on both their faces. As the weight of her missing knowledge settled around them, he couldn't help but chuckle in disbelief.
"Wait, I'm sorry. I'm sorry," He repeated, amusement bubbling within his tone as he looked at Mina incredulously as if she was supposed to know everything, "Didn't Mom and Dad program everything they knew about these things into your electric brain?"
(Y/N) quickly pulled the baby towards her when she escaped Kenji's grasp and chased after Mina once more, before she shrugged and chimed in as well, "Actually, she is not a thing." She commented as matter-of-factly to correct him, earning another fixed glare from the male to which she just sighed out and turned her attention towards the baby who did grabby hands in the direction of the AI.
Mina floated higher, her mechanical presence stilling as she continued where she left off. "And we've never seen an infant kaiju." She hovered just above them, both giants meeting her gaze, with uncertainty dancing within their eyes. "In fact, no one has."
"Great, super helpful," Kenji muttered, frustration lacing his voice. The baby wobbling precariously on its tiny limbs caught his attention as she crawled towards (Y/N), a sparkle of determination in her bright eyes. Just as it readied to leap toward Mina, she deftly tugged the little creature back, a smirk underneath her mask.
"Yeah, I think we'd be better of asking Siri," He added on, a hint of sarcasm threading through his voice to which the girl now bit her lips and rolled her eyes at his words as it wasn't Mina's fault.
"Ken, I'm not the one who brought a giant baby kaiju home." Mina remarked with attitude towards the male's previous comments, to which (Y/N) snickered in return, before turning to gaze down at the baby who was chittering. Kenji muttered a string of exasperated words, casting a sideways glance at the floating AI.
A resigned shrug accompanied his acknowledgment of her point, "Uh, we have to figure something out." Just as he said that, his color timer began to emit a series of beeping flashes in a distressing mix of blue and red. He grimaced, irritation bubbling to the surface at the indication that he would soon be transforming, "Great."
The small kaiju's colors began to shift, a mesmerizing palette of hues dancing across her skin as she focused intently on him. She wiggled free from (Y/N)'s hold, inching closer to him, her arms reaching out eagerly. The girl watched with a small smile tugging at her lips. "Um... why is she changing colors?" Kenji voiced the question anxiously.
"Hey, maybe you should ask Siri." (Y/N) hummed out with a slight smirk, an obvious jab to his previous words towards Mina, soon a nervous thumbs up formed in one of her hands as he narrowed her gaze towards her.
"Good one, (Y/N)." Mina praised in warm approval towards the girl, knowing her presence had certainly been missed, especially to a certain male.
"Do not start, Mina," Kenji warned her as his jaw clenched and he pointed an accusatory finger up to her, clearly not appreciating both of them doubling up on him. There was an unmistakable heat in his voice, underlying his discomfort and frustration, even as his focus returned to the baby creature that still gazed up at him with wide, expectant eyes.
"If I were to guess," Mina began to tell them now , "I'd say she's imprinted on you two." Both (Y/N) and Kenji are now frantically trying to keep the baby away from his color timer as her beak tried nibbling on it.
Both now stood up while Kenji held the baby away from from him, while the girl looked back at Mina as she cautiously processed the information. "Are you saying that--"
"Yes, (Y/N)." Mina is quick to cut the girl off, her tone lighter now, as she moved closer to the two's faces, almost in amusement as she spoke next, "She thinks you two are her parents."
The two now recoiled at the words, both accidentally hitting the roof with grimaces before looking at each other in horror, and frantically backing away as they shook their heads towards the AI. (Y/N)'s timer too now started to beep and her bracelet began to dim a little, a sign of the clear stress she now shared with Kenji.
"WHAT? NO!" Both exclaimed in sync, panic littering their voices as they stumbled over their words, pointing fingers at each other in a wild display of disbelief. The baby kaiju giggled at their frenzied antics, clearly unaware of what was going on.
"I'm not built for this!" Kenji now spoke out stammering as he still held the baby away from him, while the girl clung tightly to her bracelet as she darted her gaze to her feet. "I've got a life. I've got a tittle to win!"
He continued with his complaints and groans out, "You do something nice," He slightly shook the baby who curiously looked at him before smiling, "And now we're stuck babysitting a giant pink lizard thing!"
The baby now chitters while he concludes, "We have to get it out of here." He looked towards Mina again, while (Y/N) perked up at his words, deciding to step back in as she tilted her head.
"How are you going to do that, genius?" Her brows creased and a hand resting against her hip as she waited for his response.
He trailed off, groaning in frustration as he racked his brain for a solution. The beeping of both their color timers rang louder, a distressing reminder of their dwindling time as the baby now switched between his red and her yellow flash. "Oh! Oh, oh, oh." He now begins again, "We'll take her to Kaiju Island!"
"Unfortunately, Ken, no one knows where to find it." Mina's reply dashed any sense of hope that had begun to bloom, while (Y/N) let out a small yelp when the baby jumped on her, both heroes momentarily panicking to ensure she was fine in the girl's arms, "Neither your parents, nor the KDF were ever able to locate the island."
The beeping of their timers got increasingly loud and rapid, their eyes darting down to them as they knew it was a matter of time before they went back to their human forms, "It would be very bad if you changed back right now--"
Before the weight of her words could settle, a brilliant light erupted around the duo, illuminating the entire room with a dazzling glow. The transformation was swift and blinding, engulfing them in a warm radiance that flickered like a dying star. Moments later, a shocked cry escaped the girl's lips-a reflexive reaction as she braced for impact.
Her eyes were tightly shut and her cheeks puffed up, as if she was still waiting to meet the ground, but eventually she blinked her eyes open to see Kenji groaning below her, her eyes quickly widening as she stumbled away from him.
"Sorry." Was all she could muster out as she looked away embarrassed as he stretched his now sore back, both heroes now taking notice on just how small they truly were in comparison to the baby kaiju now.
Kenji let out a nervous chuckle, feeling the weight of the baby's curious eyes upon him. An awkward smile spread across his lips as he hesitated before greeting the creature. "Hi..." He says softly, lifting his free hand in a tentative wave. Meanwhile, (Y/N) mimicked his gesture, offering a warm smile, hoping to establish a connection with the baby kaiju.
They must've read the baby's stare wrong, because instead of making her giggle like she previously had, her face scrunched up in distress, and before either hero could react, she let out a loud wail. The cry reverberated through the room, sending shockwaves of sonic energy spiraling upwards towards the ceiling.
(Y/N) gasped out in alarm as Kenji pulled her just in time to duck the shockwave, both falling to the ground with his legs on either side of her waist, as he cradled her head to make sure she didn't hit it against the ground.
The girl's eyes quickly opened in alert, although relieved she hadn't been hit, head tilting now at him holding her. "What are you doing?" She questioned with furrowed eyebrows, to which he quickly realized their position and let go of her head.
At this action, her head smacked back against the floor in which Kenji had been trying to avoid, earning him a loud wince from her and a slap in his shoulder to complete, to which he was flustered by, pushing himself from the floor, with (Y/N) doing the same as she gingerly held the back of her head, one of her eyes half-lidded as she grimaced.
The chaotic display of sound wreaked havoc, and to their dismay, it was Kenji's prized collection of expensive cars adorning the walls that bore the brunt of the sonic assault, shattering glass and toppling expertly arranged models with a resounding crash.
"Uh, I hope you have car insurance," She gulped out now, attempting at a joke as she sheepishly at the clear shock he experienced in seeing that, his hands going up to his own head now.
"What the heck was that?!" Kenji yelled out his question, rapidly pushing himself away from the kaiju along with (Y/N), their hearts pounding as they both scrambled to their senses. Their instincts directed them to put distance between themselves and the baby as her wailing filled the room like a siren's call.
Adrenaline rushed through them as they sprinted away from the source of the distressing noise-the wailing baby kaiju. "She's scared of you guys." Mina chimed in, her digital form gliding effortlessly beside them, her calmer synthesized voice starkly contrasting the chaos unfolding around them.
"Scared of us? She's 20 feet tall!" He countered, raising his voice in exasperation as they crouched low to dodge yet another sonic burst. He led the charge with (Y/N) trailing closely behind, her heart racing in sync with the chaos surrounding them.
"She doesn't know you! She only knows Ultraman and Astro." Mina now raises her voice over the commotion going on, while the girl squealed when she stumbled a little, almost bumping into him to which he worriedly tugged her along with one hand.
"Mina! Containment unit!" He shouted in stress he orders those words to her to which the AI replied with, "Which one?"
"The biggest one!" He exclaimed out in response, to which the baby soon fell into a hole that opened in the floor, making both stop and sigh in relief as they caught their breaths, the baby re-appearing, now contained in a glass unit hitting the glass with her claws, whining.
(Y/N) stood beside him, her eyes fixed on the containment unit. Her face was a mask of relief, her shoulders sagging as she let out a deep breath. Kenji's gaze lingered on her face, his eyes searching for something, but his gaze faltered, and he looked away.
She now turned to Kenji, her eyes narrowing slightly and her lips pursed in a thin line. Kenji's gaze met hers, his eyes widening slightly as he sensed her irritation.
She then hit his arm but not too harshly but enough to make his grip on her own hand falter as he winced. Kenji rubbed his arm where she'd struck him, a bemused look on his face as he glanced sideways at (Y/N), "Hey, what was that for?"
"You couldn't have done that before?" She answered him with a question herself, her voice laced with annoyance all the while she also couldn't help but chuckle, and run a hand through her hair, looking away from the male as she looked back at the baby.
Kenji's brows knitted together as he glanced at the glass containment unit, where the baby kaiju was now set on a whirlwind of clumsy attempts to escape. He sighed heavily, the tension in his shoulders easing slightly.
The baby kaiju let out a soft whimper, looking around her glass enclosure, her fins trembling as if sensing the turmoil in the room. Kenji quickly turned to her, panic mounting in his chest. "You're not thinking of leaving me here with her, are you?"
She raised an eyebrow, her lips curving into a sly smile as she crossed her arms over her clothes, the long sleeves of her kimono pretty much cascading down her form, "Why? Want me to play house with you and a baby that could accidentally crush me?"
"You can joke all you want, but this isn't just anything," He pressed on with a groan. He gestured toward the squirming baby, who was now gazing at them with wide, innocent eyes as if catching their conflict like a cold.
She couldn't stifle a small laugh, and the hint of amusement lit up her eyes for a fleeting moment. "You wanted nothing to do with me back then, and now you're asking for my help?" A smug smirk flickered, but the tension beneath was unmistakable. "You, Kenji Sato really are two faced."
Mind you, (Y/N)'s heart felt like it was going to burst from from joy at the thought of him needing her, and in reality, she had already made up her mind in helping him out with the baby but she couldn't just let him have this just yet, and hearing this begging from him wasn't too bad either.
"Do you think I can handle this alone?" Kenji responded with a flash of exasperation crossing his face as he began pacing the floor, unsure if he was more worried about the baby or her leaving him alone with her. The baby let out another inconsolable whine, and Kenji pointed back toward the creature.
She met his gaze, the relationship they'd nearly rebuilt at a precipice. "Doesn't look like you have a choice," She challenged lightly, a hint of familiarity breaking through the tension. "It's not like I can take her with me to my apartment either," She continued on now, to which Kenji dragged his palms over his face.
His expression hardened now, not letting her get away with it as he shook his head and pointed a finger at her. "No. You're not doing this to me," He finally managed, his voice tinged with frustration as he glowered down at her. "I agreed to your little truce, remember? 'Until the kaiju situation is solved.' And guess what? We've got a kaiju situation right here."
Beneath her cool facade, she felt a yearning-a desire to close the gap that had widened between them since tragedy had reshaped their lives. There was something about this moment, this unexpected baby kaiju, that seemed like a lifeline hurled into the stormy waves of lost connections.
"Fine. Just for a little while, I'll help, since you're so desperate, " (Y/N) voiced her response with feigned reluctance that he didn't quite catch, a grin creeping onto her lips as she faced the adorable creature now clawing at the glass, her resolve wavering. Deep down, she knew that maybe, just maybe, this could be the beginning of repairing the frayed tapestry of their fractured friendship.
Kenji now cracked a smile at her, one that she hadn't seen in years, and despite the overwhelming chaos of the situation, it ignited a sense of warmth within her that she had thought was lost forever.
"But I do have to go now, just so you know..." She now sheepishly reminded with shrug, tugging a strand of hair behind her ear as she clicked her tongue.
His smile faded slightly, his brow furrowing once more as he looked at her, seeing the determination in her eyes that hinted at her impending departure. "You're really going to leave me here with her, aren't you?" The baby kaiju, oblivious to the tension, continued to pat the glass with her tiny claws, her brightly colored fins fluttering in curiosity, but it was clear her presence wasn't enough to ease Kenji's worries.
"I'll be back tomorrow, Ken." (Y/N)'s voice was gentle, but there was a firmness in her tone that carried the weight of promise. She took a step closer to him, attempting to bridge the gap unsettled by their past. "My friends will be worried if I don't get home soon, with what happened back there."
Kenji's expression hardened for a moment, worry etched deeply across his features. "But what if something happens? You saw what she did back there—" His words came out nervously, a subtle reminder of the stakes at play.
"Nothing's going to happen, she's in a containment unit. You've got everything under control," She spoke out in reassurance, now looking to the glass containment unit that held the wriggling baby, whose wide, innocent eyes sparkled with anticipation.
"And we are still in one piece," She placed her hands on her hips now as she leaned forward to look at the male, "If that doesn't tell you we're naturals I don't know what does." Her last words were tinged with sarcasm, knowing so far, this kaiju baby hadn't been a walk in the park, but she did believe he could handle her while she was away.
"I really will come back tomorrow-- first thing. And then we'll get this 'little' one sorted out." Truth be told, she didn't want to leave him alone at all, but she knew Asuna would probably kill her from worry.
Kenji opened his mouth, hesitated, and then finally nodded slowly, his tension giving way to something more like acceptance.
She nodded as well now and smiled up at him, a warmth blooming in her chest. "Good."
They exchanged a lingering glance, one that held promises they both felt drawn to keep. Closing the distance, she stepped closer as if the space between them was suddenly too monumental to bear. "If anything does happen, just give me a call."
He swallowed hard, something unspoken flickering in his eyes as they shared another moment that felt both fragile and profound. "Yeah, okay. I'll hold you to that."
With one final glance at the baby, (Y/N) turned to leave with Mina leading her out, feeling the weight of both their gazes upon her back as she hesitated at the door. "Just think of it this way," She called back over her shoulder with a toothy grin, "You get to practice your dad skills tonight!"
When stepped out toward the entrance of Kenji's luxurious mansion, she couldn't help but playfully bounce on her heels, a giggle escaping her lips at the positive interaction with her childhood best friend. The vast expanse of the island before her felt both inviting and overwhelming; it was a world she hadn't known before, shimmering with potential and the thrill of new beginnings.
"Okay, so he does have a secret lair," She murmured to herself with a light chuckle, imagining the grandeur of it all. But as she stood there, reality sank in like a stone. "Uh, how the heck do I get off this island now?" She muttered as she squinted her eyes, glancing nervously back at the imposing walls of the mansion that seemed both regal and isolating.
Inside the mansion, Kenji stood still, a goofy, dreamy smile spreading across his face as he replayed their moments together. He felt happy by the spark of reconnection that fluttered in his heart.
And then, unexpectedly, what she had just said lingered in the air, framing the evolving dynamic between them. He realized he didn't want to lose this opportunity, as he wanted to get to know her again, wanted her back in his life-though the words tended to die in his throat.
But then, a thought struck him with startling clarity. "Wait," He gasped out now, his expression shifting from blissful nostalgia to mild panic. "She can't leave." The realization washed over him like a cold wave. He lived on a private island, away from the bustling world. The only way off was his own transportation, and he had completely lost track of time when lost in thought about her leaving.
That meant he could see her again, he instinctively wanted that. With a quick shake of his head, he pushed his feet forward and walked over to the girl who was outside now.
"Shoot, Ken," He muttered a scold to himself, knowing he should've remembered about the private-island thing. He then heard a knock on the front door, to which made his heart race as he neared it, expecting to find her just beyond it.
As he stepped outside, a confident smirk slipped onto his face, a playful glint in his eyes as he raised his voice slightly, as if to put on his usual act. "Y'know, if you need a ride--" The words froze in his throat as he blinked in surprise, his expression shifting from playful to bewildered.
Standing before him was not the girl, but rather his father, Hayao Sato, a shorter yet intimidating figure at that moment with a serious demeanor and a furrowed brow. Right behind him, (Y/N) shifted nervously, her hands playing with her sleeves, unsure of how this moment had unfolded.
