Annalise leans her chair back. "Remind me again why we have to go Pennsylvania?"

"Katherine has the cure and I made a bargain with her. I would peacefully give it to Niklaus in exchange for her freedom." Elijah explained as he kept looking at the road.

"Uh huh, you see I'm not understanding what you get out of doing this for her." Anna crossed her arms.

"We'll leave it at she did me a favor before so now I have to return it."

Anna scoffed and went back to looking out the window, she hated that Elijah was practically best buds with the obnoxious vampire. So now that they were going, Anna had to make sure to ask Katherine what that favor was.

A few hours passed by and it was consumed by utter silence. The two hadn't spoken much with each after the revelation. Anna thought Elijah was resenting her but the Original was thinking that she did not want the bond they were given.

So they chose the worst path, not communicating to one another about what they heard.

The two arrived at a small town in Pennsylvania. Elijah parked in a spot he found on a street.

Anna unbuckled herself and got out of the car, "Let's get this over with shall we?"

The Mikaelson didn't understand why she was so moody about meeting up with the vampire.

The two walked into the gazebo where 'Katherine' was waiting.

Elena sensed two people approaching and turned to be faced with Anna and Elijah. The vampire was shocked at seeing not only Elijah but the heretic here as well.

"Elijah. You're a little late, aren't you?" the girl tried her best to say in a Katherine tone.

"You died your hair? I must say it does not suit you." Anna shook her head.

Elijah took a step forward, "I didn't come here to waist time, do you have it with you?"

Elena furrowed her brows making Anna narrow her eyes.

"The cure." Elijah said.

Anna looks down at the girls hand and notices the daylight ring on her right hand. She started to chuckle and Elijah had figured it out as well.

"It's in a safe place. Why don't I go and get it and I'll bring it back?" Elena told the two and tried to walk away but Anna roughly grabbed her arm.

"I don't like having my time toyed with, Elena."

Elijah and Anna are in an alleyway when the Original's phone rings, he answers and puts it on speaker for Anna even though she can just use her vamp hearing.

"Katherine?"

"Hello, Elijah." Stefan's voice was heard.

"Bloody hell, what is it with you and getting into everyone's business." Anna groaned.

"Nice to hear you too Anna." Stefan sarcastically said.

"Where is Katherine?" Elijah asked.

"Where's Elena?" Stefan replied making the heretic roll her eyes.

"She's fine for now but if you don't hand over the vampire so I can go on with my day I doubt I can promise her safety for long." Anna crossed her arms.

"Same goes for Katherine then."

"Please, I highly doubt she'll be taken down by the likes of you and your pathetic brother." the brunette rolled her eyes.

"Oh, you should add Rebekah to that. Cause your friend decided to join Team Good Guys for the time being." Stefan grinned from the other side of the phone.

Now Elijah looked upset, "Put her on the phone."

"Well, she's not here right now. I left her with Damon and Katherine."

Anna groaned in annoyance.

"Tell me where they are." the Mikaelson demanded.

"Relax. No one's gonna get hurt as long as Katherine hands over the cure."

Anna laughed, "You really don't know Rebekah do you? The moment she gets her hands on that cure she will kill the vampire, not that I care but I do have a teensy question to ask her so I prefer her alive for now."

"Well, just tell me where you are, and we can talk this through." Stefan told the two.

"If Katherine dies before I get what I want Stefan, then I'll happily kill Elena. I didn't come here just to get my time waisted." then the heretic hung up.

"Were you always this bitchy?" Elena asked as she leaned on the wall.

Annalise looked at the vampire, "Don't get too cocky just because your a vampire now love, I can still easily rip your heart out."

"Oh please, your all talk but you never do anything Anna. All the threats but what do you do? Absolutely nothing." Elena sighed.

Anna crossed her arms, "You've abandoned your emotions" she laughed loudly, "Oh this is funny, if your trying to get a reaction out of me then just don't waist your bloody time." the girl said in her English accent.

"Well for you two to be working with Katherine it's a low blow isn't it."

"I am not working with her, I'd rather gouge my eyes out. Elijah had a favor to return to her and I just need an answer. Then I'd happily kill her." Annalise smiled.

"Stop trying to cause a fight Elena." Elijah told the doppleganger vampire.

"So, what was the reason you turned your humanity off? Did a lover break your heart?" Anna taunted.

"My brother's dead. Katherine killed him." Elena shrugged.

Elijah looked a bit shocked but Anna chuckled. "The little hunter? You see Elena, it hurts when your brother is murdered. Maybe you should have thought what loosing your own brother would have felt to Nik, Rebekah or Elijah before murdering Kol." she raised a brow.

And now Elijah looked confused.

Elena looked alarmed, "How did you-?"

"Know? When I grabbed your arm I took a quick look into your mind. You can imagine my surprise when I see you and Jeremy killing Kol, but you only ever care when something affects you, the rest be damned." the heretic scoffed.

"You killed my brother?" Elijah angrily asked.

Elena backed up a bit but Anna extended her arm so the Original wouldn't do anything without thinking.

"Later 'Lijah, if you kill her now we loose our leverage."

Elijah looked at Anna, he knew she was right. The Mikaelson stepped away.

"Now it's the waiting game."

Elijah paced as Anna and Elena stood.

"So, how did you manage to become a heretic?" the vampire asked Annalise.

"And you'd like to know because...?"

Elena shrugged, "Well, aren't witches supposed to completely loose their magic when turned into a vampire? You didn't loose it."

"Then I guess you could say I'm an exception to that rule." the brunette bitterly smiled.

"I don't buy it, who turned you?" Elena said, prying into the girls personal life.

"Drop it." the heretic snapped.

"Why won't you just talk about it?"

"I said drop it."

"What? Scared?"

Elijah looked at the vampire, "I think Annalise said to drop it Elena, so do as she said or I might not care about that cure so much in the next moment."

Elena opened her mouth but her body suddenly dropped to the floor, her neck was snapped.

Katherine appeared behind her. "Sorry. I got held up."

Katherine smiled, "She could use a nap. It must be exhausting trying to be me."

"Your a sick bitch Katherine."

"Anna, would say it's nice to see you again, but then I'd be lying." the Pierce girl smiled.

"Very funny, so why'd you kill Jeremy?" Anna questioned.

"Oh what do you two care for him." Katherine scoffed.

Elijah approached Anna's side, "As much distain I hold for Elena, you killing her last family and sentencing that girl to the same miserable life as you had is a different type of evil."

"Jeremy was collateral damage. I did what I had to do to survive, how she handled it is not my problem." the vampire shrugged.

"I don't feel like her helping her anymore, do you 'Lijah?" Anna asked looking up at him.

"No, I do not."

Katherine looked nervous, "You owe me one Elijah."

"And you've just proven to me that you do not deserve my help, I'll be leaving now." Elijah said.

"Wait for me in the car." the heretic told him.

"Anna-" he started but she cut him off, "I'll be there in a sec."

The Original sighed and walked away, leaving Katherine with Anna.

"What favor did you do for Elijah?" Anna questioned.

Katherine chuckled, "Oh I see, you wanna know why your boyfriend owes me?"

"One, he's not my boyfriend and second I won't play nice for long, answer the question." she snapped.

"And why should I?" the vampire scoffed.

Anna focused her magic on Katherine's mind, the girl yelled in pain and clutched her head.

"I don't suggest you tick me off."

The vampire continued to groan and quickly sputtered out, "He asked me to keep Klaus off your trail when you guys left Mystic Falls!"

Anna stopped inflicting pain on her, why the bloody hell did Elijah do that? Unless Nik had said something.

She turned, leaving Katherine there and walked back to the car.

"Did you get what you needed?" Elijah asked as the girl buckled herself.

"I guess so, oh can we stop by a tea shop that's 15 minutes away? I heard the bubble tea's here are wonderful." Anna smiled.

Elijah chuckled knowing he could never say no to her. "Which way?"

Annalise beamed and looked up the directions on her phone, "You going to turn at that stop sign."

And Elijah did as he was told.

Annalise and Elijah walked out of the bubble tea shop, the heretic had a passionfruit tea with mango popping boba. The Original shook his head at the girls eagerness.

The brunette happily took a sip of hers, "I must say, the reviews were right."

Elijah smiled, were things to change between them since they are soulmates? The Mikaelson wanted to act on his feelings, but he knew Klaus would object. The hybrid was not fond of their newfound friendship and he didn't want to imagine how he would react if he dated the girl.

The two soulmates didn't notice Katherine running up to them, "Anna!"

The heretic turned and was confused by the sight of the vampire. "What do you want?"

Katherine reaches into her purse and pulls out a small box.

"You have the cure." Elijah said.

"Yeah. And Anna I know you don't owe me anything and I'm a horrible person I know that. But I just want a shot at a free life." the vampire panted.

Elijah was going to say no but Anna spoke first, "You changed when you lost your family." she said looking at her. The Martin girl knew what that felt like.

The heretic sighed, "I will do you this favor once Katherine, but do not think anything of it."

Katherine smiled, "Thank you Annalise, honestly." she hands the box to her and walks away.

Anna gives the box to Elijah who opens it and looks at the cure, then closes the box and the two cross the street. On the other side, Rebekah hops down from her perch on their parked car.

"You two helping Katherine? Bloody hell." the blonde said.

"Nice to see you too Beks." Anna crossed her arms.

"Why help her Anna?"

The heretic just shrugged, "I guess I saw a bit of my younger self in her."

"Well, Elijah hand over the cure." Rebekah told her brother.

"And what could you possibly want with the cure?" Elijah asked.

"I want to be human again." the blonde responded.

Anna looked taken back a bit.

"How do you know that being human is the answer you're looking for? I mean, it's nothing but a romantic notion. The grass won't necessarily be greener, Rebekah." Elijah said to his younger sister.

"You're probably right. But I don't care. I want to live a simple life as a normal person. And when it ends, it ends. We've had 20 lifetimes together, Elijah. Isn't that enough?"

"I just don't understand. I mean, why must you always consider our family a burden? Always and forever. I mean, those words are as important to me today as they-as they ever were."

"You will always be my brother. And I will never stop loving you. But now it's time for me to live and die the way that I choose, not the way you and Nik want me to. Please. Please just give me the cure." But Rebekah's phone started to ring.

The blonde dug it out of her pocket and answers it.

"What do you want, Nik?"

Anna and Elijah start to listen.

"An update on our search for the elusive cure." Klaus' voice could be heard.

"Let's just say that things have gotten complicated. In fact, why don't you speak to one of those complications? Here." Rebekah handed the phone to Elijah as the three got into the car with Anna in the back seat.

"Complication speaking." Elijah said.

Klaus smiled, "Big brother. At last you join the fray."

"Somebody had to take charge. And now that I have, I've got the cure and I'm bringing it back to Mystic Falls."

"With a long list of demands, I assume."

"Not that long."

"I presume Anna is with you?"

Elijah passed the phone to the heretic.

"Hello Nik."

"Been awhile hasn't it little one, well I'll see you all here. It'll be a grand reunion." And the hybrid hung up.

Anna sighed as she handed the phone back to Rebekah and sunk back into her seat.

Another long drive.
