Anna jumped onto her bed and sighed. The previous night's events kept replaying in her mind. A sudden knock was heard at the door startling the girl.

Annalise got up and opened it, and there stood Elijah.

The atmosphere said everything. "Good evening Annalise." Elijah softly said.

Anna cleared her throat and made way for him to walk in. "Come on in." she invited.

The Original walked through the door, Anna was struggling to get a hold of herself.

"So, to what do I owe this pleasure?" the heretic asked the male in her hotel room.

Elijah reached into his coat and pulled out an envelope. "An invitation to the ball my family is hosting." he said.

Anna took the envelope out of his hand and read it. "You could have just left it at the door or what not." she told him.

"I wanted to hand it to you personally, and I wanted to ask if you would accompany me to the ball." Elijah asked her.

"As your date?" Anna raised a brow.

"Preferably" Elijah lightly smiled.

"Well I'd be honored." the girl told him.

Elijah softly sighed in relief. "The honor would be mine." he said.

"Well, it appears I now have to go dress shopping." Anna thought out loud.

The Mikaelson also pulled out a thin long black velvet box. Anna walked closer towards him and Elijah opened it.

In the box was a diamond accent north star necklace. It was beautiful.

"I heard from Rebekah how much you love stars." Elijah nervously said.

"It's beautiful Elijah." Anna said in awe.

"I want you to have it." he said admiring the girls expression.

Anna looked up at him, "I couldn't possibly-" she started but the vampire cut her off.

"Please, it's the least I can do. A token of my gratitude for watching over two of my siblings."

Anna found his hazel eyes captivating, so much she didn't want to look away.

"Thank you Elijah." she whispered.

The Original nodded, and put the box in her hands.

Anna looked at the necklace and smiled, "Would you put it on for me?" she asked.

Elijah smiled and took the necklace as Annalise turned around holding up her hair so it wasn't in his way.

The Mikaelson put the necklace on the girl and felt, happy. What an odd thing.

Anna turned back around and Elijah saw a sudden shine to her emerald eyes.

The vampire took one of her hands and placed a gentle kiss there.

"I will see you at the Ball." he smiled. In a split second he was gone, leaving Annalise completely bewildered with what had just happened.

Yet the girl couldn't wipe the smile off of her face.

Annalise stood outside Klaus' house where the ball was taking place. The heretic for some odd reason was nervous.

The girl was wearing an off the shoulders emerald green dress that had a slight shimmer to it and went a little past her ankles. There was a slit that went a little higher than her knee.

She wore black heels that weren't too high and her hair was in a bun with a few strands of hair framing her face. The heretic wore the necklace Elijah gifted her and a pair of emerald earrings.

"Oh let's just get over with this." Anna told herself and she walked inside.

The room was slightly packed with plenty of people. Rebekah caught sight of her friend and smiled walking over to her, Kol following closely behind.

"Well don't you look ravishing." Rebekah said.

Annalise chuckled, "I could say the same for you, looks like we're matching colors today." she smiled.

"See, we even have minds that think alike." Rebekah teased. "Had anyone else come in with an emerald dress that gorgeous I might have killed them." the blonde grinned.

"Oh I wouldn't doubt it." Anna laughed.

Kol appeared before the two ladies. "You were the little lady that my mother spoke to. Pleasure to meet you, I'm Kol." he slightly bowed.

"So I've heard." Anna raised a brow.

"Mind if I steal a dance when the time comes?" Kol asked.

Elijah suddenly appeared and patted his youngest brothers shoulder. "Perhaps finding your own date, would do you better Kol."

Rebekah laughed and Anna smiled.

Kol pouted and walked away, "Did I leave you waiting?" Elijah asked his date.

"Not at all, just here chatting with Bekah."

Rebekah looked between the two, "Well, you two have a fun night. I will go find my own date." she smiled and walked away.

Elijah held out his arm, "Shall we?"

Anna rolled her eyes playfully and took the vampires arm as the two walked.

"You look absolutely stunning." Elijah told her. When he was speaking with Carol he had finally caught sight of Anna who was laughing with Rebekah, and for Elijah it was like no one else was in the room but her.

"Why thank you. I must say you do look handsome." Anna stunningly smiled.

Elijah smiled.

Klaus looked around when his eyes landed on a certain two people, his best friend and brother. What were those two doing together?

Elijah turned towards his date, "I need to make an announcement, allow me just a moment."

"It's fine Elijah, don't worry." Anna reassured. Elijah nodded and walked away as the Originals gathered on the stairs.

"Welcome. Thank you for joining us. You know, whenever my mother brings our family together like this, it's tradition for us to commence the evening with a dance."

"Tonight's pick is a centuries-old waltz, so if all of you could please find yourselves a partner, please join us in the ballroom." Elijah announced.

Anna followed as everyone went into the ballroom, Elijah appeared before the girl with his hand out.

"May I?" he asked the heretic.

Anna nodded and smiled.

Elijah placed one hand on her waist as the other held her own, Anna placed the unoccupied hand on his shoulder.

"You're a wonderful dancer." Anna spoke.

"Well you learn once you've been alive for so long. Might I ask who taught you to dance?" Elijah asked her.

"My mother did. Our family would hosts balls for the coven quite often so I had to learn how to waltz." Anna answered.

"That's right, you were a witch at first."

"I was, quite an experience learning to control urges while still being able to perform magic." Anna awkwardly chuckled.

"I understand, well your mother did a great job teaching you." Elijah said trying to talk about anything but how she became a vampire, he noticed how tense and uncomfortable she looked when it was mentioned.

"Yes she did." Anna smiled. The turn was about to happen so Elijah twirled her and Klaus catches her.

"Haven't a word from you little one." Klaus said as they waltzed.

"Can you blame me?" Anna scoffed.

"So what's with you and my brother? Seems you two are getting comfy with each other." Klaus questioned.

"That does not concern you." Anna snapped at him.

Klaus twirled her and Damon caught the heretic.

"Well isn't this a nice surprise." the vampire grinned.

"Maybe for you." Anna scoffed.

Elijah was watching the two with an annoyed face. "Careful Elijah, you'll start showing you actually like her." Rebekah teased as the two siblings danced.

The older Mikaelson rolled his eyes, "Who would have thought, you and Anna." the blonde smiled.

"I heard you the first time Rebekah." Elijah sighed.

"Do you actually fancy her?" Rebekah sincerely asked.

"I- yes I think I actually do." Elijah truthfully answered.

"Wonderful. Just don't break her heart." she told her brother.

"I would never."

The waltz is over and Anna starts to look for Elijah, she spots him talking with Elena.

"Elena. I understand my mother requested to see you." the girl heard Elijah tell the human.

"Uh, yeah. Why? Is something wrong?" Elena asked.

"Well, her ability to forgive my brother after everything he's done to destroy this family strikes me as a little strange to say the least." Elijah told the girl.

"Do you think that it's an act?" she asked the Original.

"It has me asking questions I never thought I'd ask. Can I depend on you to tell me what she says?" Elijah questioned.

"Of course. I'll find you later, ok?" Elena said then walked away.

Anna approached Elijah's side, "Would you trust her word?"

Elijah held out his arm for Anna to take, "I hope I can."

Anna sighed and linked their arms.

Elijah takes two glasses of champagne and hands one to Anna. Elena appears in the hall again and this time Anna accompanies Elijah to speak with the doppleganger.

"So how was my mother?" the Original asked the human.

"Intense" Elena said as she looked at Anna.

Esther appears on the stairs and smiled at Elena, something Anna caught.

"Elena. Should I be concerned about my mother's intentions?" Elijah asked.

"She just wanted to apologize for trying to have me killed." Elena lied. Anna narrowed her eyes at the girl.

"So it's true, then? She's forgiven Klaus?" the Mikaelson hopefully questioned.

"It's true."

Anna for some reason did not trust the girl's word.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Waiters are coming round with champagne. I invite you all to join me in raising a glass. It provides me with no greater joy than to see my family back together as one. I'd like to thank you all for being part of this spectacular evening. Cheers." Esther toasted.

Elijah smiled and looked at Anna as Elena walked away. "Cheers"

Anna weakly smiled back as the two clinked their glasses. Elijah took a sip as Anna drank.

"Elijah" Anna said.

The vampire looked at her with curious eyes, "I don't trust Elena's word."

"I don't as well, but I would like to hope she's right and my mother does want us all to be a family again." Elijah truthfully said.

Anna nodded and rested her head on his shoulder, providing comfort the two of them needed.

Anna took her room key out as she and Elijah approached her hotel room.

"You didn't have to accompany me." she turned towards him.

"What kind of gentlemen would I be if I allowed you to walk home alone."

"I'm strong enough to fend for myself." Anna chuckled.

"I never said you weren't, I know you are very capable." Elijah smiled.

The two locked eyes, it was like an unspoken understanding between them.

Anna took a step forward and kissed the Original's cheek. "Thank you for the wonderful evening 'Lijah."

The Original felt all nervous and happy hearing the nickname she had called him.

"It will always be my pleasure." he finally said.

Annalise smiled and walked into her room closing the door as she leaned on it.

Elijah stood in front of the door and smiled, he didn't remember when he had been this happy to be with someone.

The vampire walked down the hall, leaving Anna to her own thoughts.

Anna clutched the necklace Elijah gave to her.

She didn't know when was the last time she wanted something so badly.

But one thing she did know, she was starting to like Elijah Mikaelson.
