Nandini heard Manik's car horn. She came to his room and sat on the bed. Her gaze fell on the bed side table. There was so many half eaten cigarettes. She frowned as Manik never smoke so much. She mentally noted to talk about it to Manik.

Manik entered into his room and he saw Nandini was there already. At first he was a little shocked but a beautiful smile formed on the corner of his lips.

"What's the matter, Miss Teddy Bear?" Manik stopped beside her.

Nandini rolled her eyes and threw a stern look to him. "Where were you whole day?"

Manik took off his coat and threw it on one side. "I was in office. Then while returning, I met a few of my old friends. I was talking to them and got late. I didn't realize."

"Oh."

Manik sat beside her. "What happened, Nandini? You are looking really upset. Has something happened?"

Nandini didn't say anything. Silent tears were falling from her eyes.

Manik held her face and turned her towards him. "Nandu, I don't like it at all. You are not even talking to me. What's the matter? Tell me."

Nandini was still silent crying.

Manik wiped the tears from her eyes. "Nandu, I have asked you so many times that don't cry like this. Now tell me what happened?"

"I called you in the morning but your phone was busy. Later when I called you it was switched off. I tried calling you so many times but couldn't reach you. Do you have any idea about how worried I was."

"I saw you called me. I was about to call you but before that only my phone became switched off. The battery was dead." 

Nandini moved away her face. "Everyone says like this only."

"Nandini... Everyone..." Manik let out a sigh. "You are taking me wrong. I didn't ignore you intentionally."

"Then why didn't you call me or anyone with someone else's phone?"

"Nandini, I was not with Cabir or Aryaman. Also I don't remember any of your phone numbers. So, I couldn't call."

"Sorry."

"Sorry? Why?" Manik became confused.

"I misunderstood you that's why. I was just worried."

"Oh. But you know your sorry can be better?" Manik grinned naughtily.

Nandini had a confused smile on her face. "Sorry can be better? How?"

"Like this."

Manik pulled her near him holding her waist. Nandini's hands went around his neck and he placed his lips on hers. They had a slow yet passionate kiss. When they both were out of breath, they broke the kiss.

Nandini got back her normal breath. "Did you have your lunch?"

"Hmm. What about you?"

Nandini was silent.

Manik let out a breath seeing her carelessness. He knew she didn't have it. "You didn't have your lunch, right?"

Nandini nodded her head in negative.

Manik's face changed suddenly. "Why do you love me so much, Nandini? I just couldn't pick your call and you skipped your lunch? What if I didn't return home? I could be late too. You are already this much. If you keep on skipping your meals like this, then after a few days you won't be even visible."

"I know you want that only." Nandini puffed her cheeks in annoyance.

Manik chuckled seeing her. He couldn't help kissing on her cheeks. "Why are you getting angry? Okay, let's go, we will have the dinner together."

Manik make her stand in front of the mirror and combed her hairs perfectly. Then he took a glance of her from top to toe. "This dress is perfect. You look like angel in white."

Nandini smiled. Then Manik started walking out of his room holding her hand.

"Manik, what are you doing?"

Manik stopped. "Shh!!! Why do you ask so many questions?"

Nandini made a bad face but didn't say anything more. Manik dragged her our with him.

"Manik, you returned home just now and you are again going out. What will everyone say?"

"No one will say anything. Actually they will be happy seeing us going out together."

Manik made her seat on the passenger seat and he took the driver's seat. Then they both drove off.

"Where are we going?"

When Manik didn't say anything being tired of asking, she didn't ask more. After driving for sometime, Manik stopped the car.

"Nandini."

"What?"

"Which one is your favorite shade of lipstick?"

"What?" Nandini was taken aback with his sudden question.

"Leave it. It's useless to ask you."

Manik got down from the car and was walking to other side of the road.

"Manik, where are you going?" Nandini called him out from the car.

"You stay here only. Don't come out of the car. I will be back in a while."

Nandini kept sitting in the car. After some minutes Manik came with a packet in his hand. He gave that to Nandini.

"What's this?"

"Open it. You will find out."

Nandini opened the packet there was a lipstick, a kohl and a pair of earrings.

"Is it for me?" Nandini asked excitedly.

"Of course, it's for you. I don't have any other girl friend except you. I am holding this mirror. You apply them quickly."

Nandini smiled nodded her head in disbelief. "Manik, you have really gone crazy."

"I know it already. Didn't you know this?"

Nandini laughed.

"Stop laughing and apply them fast. We are getting late."

Nandini started applying the kohl then the lipstick. All the while Manik was looking at her without blinking once. When Nandini was done, she told, "If you are done with your checking out session, then can we leave?"

Manik nodded his head. "For sure."

Manik took Nandini to a restaurant for candle light dinner. The place was decorated with all Nandini's favorite things. Nandini admired the place with awe. Manik pulled a chair for Nandini and made her sit there. He took chair in front of her.

"You like it?" Manik asked not knowing about her reaction as it's the first time they have come out together.

"I loved it."

"I know it has all your favorite things. Do you remember, when we were kids, no matter whose birthday it was, it was you who used to blow the candles all the time. And you used to cry so much, if someone didn't let you do so." 

Nandini chuckled thinking of that time. "Do you remember what you used to do after that?"

Manik nodded. "I used to buy candles for you so that you can blow them."

"You had to get candles for me again and again. How beautiful those days were! I wish we could get back to those days. No worry, no problem."

"Who said we can't get back to those days? You just tell me how many candles you want. I will get them and then you can blow like before. Also if you want to be the same teddy bear like before, I can order that kind of foods too for you. I don't have any problem. if you become the same chubby Nandini."

Nandini slapped on his shoulder. "What did you say?"

"Nothing, barbie doll." He joined his hands together in front of her.

"Better."

"You know you look like strawberry, when you are angry. Because you turn red like them." Manik pulled her cheeks.

Nandini blushed.

"And when you blush, you become rose from strawberry. Fresh roses blooming in the garden of my heart."

Nandini chuckled nodding her head in disbelief. "You have really gone mad."

"In your love." Manik pecked on her knuckle. "Only for you."

Like this they completed their dinner and came back home. They were entering when Nyonika came there seeing them.

"Where were you two? Manik, why your phone is off? We called you so many times. And Nandini, Alya looked for you in the whole house. You have also left your phone in her room only. We were getting worried thinking of you two."

"Mom, my phone's battery was dead. Then I took Nandini with me and she didn't get the chance to take her phone." Manik replied on behalf of both of them.

"I had said that we should tell someone. But you didn't hear me. See we got all of them worked up unnecessarily."

Nyonika pulled Manik's ear who yelled in pain. "Does he care for anyone?" Manik rubbed the place as Nyonika left him. "You both go and freshen up. It's already late. You need to have dinner."

"Mom, we have gone out for dinner only." Manik informed.

"It's okay, then go and sleep. It's your engagement tomorrow. Manik, your outfit is with Cabir. Check it once. We don't have much time."

"Okay."

Nyonika left from there.

"Aye, you are going to be my wife or my enemy?" Manik asked Nandini as Nyonika left from there.

"What did I do?"

"What was the need of saying like that in front of mom? She pulled my ear so bad that it's still paining."

"I did right."

Manik gave her an angry glare.

"Good night." Nandini laughed.

Nandini was going when Manik held her hand and again pulled her back. Nandini was struggling in his grip, "Manik, what are you doing? Someone will see us."

"Shh." Manik placed his finger over her lips stopping her from saying anything further. "Your surprise is not done yet."

Nandini looked at him being confused. Manik smiled and took out a nail paint from his pocket and gave it to Nandini. Her eyes twinkled in joy.

"I know you like this. That day I had spoiled it. For that I have got it for you." Manik moved close to her. "Now my gift?"

Nandini blushed and pushed him away a little. "Manik, go."

Manik chuckled seeing her. "Good night."

Manik kissed on her forehead and left for his room. Cabir was waiting for him in his room.

"Congratulations, bro. You are getting engaged tomorrow."

"Thank you." Manik smiled brightly.

Here is your outfit. Try it once and see if everything is okay or not. If there is any problem, tell me. I will take it to the shop in the morning."

"Okay."

They bid bye to each other and Cabir left for his room.
