too sweet
TOO SWEET (FOR ME)
you know you're bright as the morning, as soft as the rain, pretty as a vine. as sweet as a grape, if you can sit in a barrel, maybe I'll wait until that day —

— i think i'll take my whiskey neat, my coffee black and my bed at three, you're too sweet for me. you're too sweet for me!
ON MAY 4TH, two girls were born. Twins, who came into the world screaming and crying, reaching for each other. The nurses and doctors, amazed at how the twins instantly calmed down the second they were placed beside their siblings amazed them. Their fifteen year old mother, Grace, and sixteen father, Wyatt, both believed that their connection was stronger than anyone could understand.
It was a good thing they had each other, because no more than half an hour later their mother died from a hemorrhage the doctors couldn't control. Wyatt was left to raise two girls all by himself, well grieving the lost of his first love and finishing his education. He had no choice but to ask his parents for help, pleading for whatever they could offer him. He refused to give his daughters up; working in the early hours of the day at the nearby gas station and then working at the grocery store after school.
It was a good thing they had each other, because growing up with a father who spent more time away from you so you could have everything, was hard. The twins had to find their own way to be entertained, to find their own way to make up for the missing parental figures all the other children talked about.
It was a good thing they had each other because kids were mean. Twins without a mother? that caused for some teasing here and there for sure. Oh, and not to mention they celebrated Mother's Day sitting in front of a grave that they placed flowers at. But the twins did it hand in hand, always together and never far apart.
It's a good thing they had each other, because a few months after their sixteenth birthday, their father gets a job in a rainy town where his way older brother is. Neither twin wants to move, because they want to stay where they can still feel their mother around every other corner. They aren't ready to let go of the woman they never got to meet. Tears are shed and screams are loud as they echo off walls.
It's a good thing they had each other, because Wyatt doesn't let them argue about the move. He's finally ready to let go of of his first love. He finally has a chance to become the twins fathers, to spend the day teaching in a high school and then go home where he can sit down and eat dinner with his daughters. He pays the bills and because of that, he starts packing up their rooms one day and sends the stuff off to be delivered to their new home.
It's a good thing they have each other, because Clover and Juno aren't ready for what Forks Washington is going to throw their way, but at least they'll be by each others sides.
