This chapter, as you can see, is divided into two, sooooooooo yeah, there's a continuation of it coming soon, I was scared the chapter would get too long if I added Acha's POV, so yeah, next chapter! Anticipate!!! We're getting closer and closer to Dacha and it's sooo exciting!! (Inserts screaming emoji, if that exists, lol)
~DABI~
"Guy, I just feel like giving one Ss2 girl smack down!"
How was my Monday morning starting off, one may ask. Well, as you heard Chika, she vigorously intends to inflict physical damage on a person.
"Well, slow down there, Rhonda Roussey, I don't think that's a good idea," Soma said, as we had just stepped out of the rowdy crowd, disassociating ourselves with the unnecessary cliques and groups that our immediate junior girls, the Ss2s', had formed on the path that demarcated our block with theirs, successfully making it difficult to see any road to pass.
One of the scariest things I've ever had to go through in my life....
I agreed with Chika on her complaint this morning. I only wondered why on Earth they were suddenly hanging around there, like they were anticipating something to happen.
Castron High and drama.
If there was one thing that was struggling with Chika's hate for Misogynists, well, it definitely was Ss2 girls.
Chika huffed. "They're just so infuriating!"
"I know, they really are," Soma agreed, fondled with the hands of the 'Fairly Odd Parents' school bag that was hung over her shoulders. "But if you hurt anyone, you may risk yourself a suspension." She thought for another second. "Or an expulsion, because you may hurt them too much?" She gaped huge eyes at Chika. "And an expulsion is a LOT of trouble, Chi Mama," Shook her head in sad disapproval. "I don't like trouble,"
I could sense trouble the moment I walked into Chika and Soma without the twins this morning.
Worse still? It was dangerously close to the time for the Morning Assembly, and neither girls had said anything about the twins. They hadn't reached out to us either. Figures, the twins were one to hold the silliest grudges.
We stepped into the Hallway and I couldn't breathe.
No, literally.
I stopped breathing.
For about five seconds.
Damn, I really hate it here.
I tried to tune myself out of the probable awkwardly social situation as passer-by classmates were quick to bless Chika and Soma with smiles, heys', his', and all forms of sneaky, fake love.
I should have been accustomed to this kind of thing by now;
Walking into the midst of my noisy classmates to see all sorts of vanity, show off, fake happiness, and fake love...
The girl cliques that comprised of stunningly beautiful mean girls and and guy groups that were all sporty, outgoing, and cool, and both categories, making sure to only give attention to the people in the top radar...
The excessive laughter, playing and jumping around, exaggerated public display of affection from couples who were more into the high of dating popular people than the actual relationship itself....
Fortunately, they were too engulfed in their vanity to notice me.
Until they did notice me.
Looks diverted my way, from passer-by classmates, as well as the ones who wee fairly ahead of me, drawing attention towards me from other classmates who were obviously talking.
Keep your head down, Dabi. Stay down.
"Mad oo! Acha's wife oo!"
Even Chika heard the stray voice of a male who had labelled me, laughing off his joke with a bunch of other classmates, boys and girls, from a close distance.
I wasn't even sure what to feel about that... Whether it was to mock me or praise me, I wasn't sure. I didn't like it however. I didn't like how it made me feel.
However, when the noise in the hallway significantly increased, I panicked. Then, it hit me that something else was wrong, and with the sudden alert that filled the entire hallway, I figured it couldn't have been me?
Everyone suddenly became so, so uneasy for some reason. So alert and so uneasy, that it was disturbing.
And when I looked to the entrance of the hallway, I completely understood why, and my blood ran cold.
Giwa Falade, the proclaimed queen bee of the set, and alpha female of the entire school, basically, had walked in here with two of her friends, ultimately stealing all the peace and attention of the entire hallway without even putting a single effort.
All she did was walk in here with her friends, and the entire place was in jeopardy.
You know the most ironic thing? She acted so oblivious to the fact that she was turning the entire hall upside down. She basically acted like she didn't notice a thing. Like she was just walking down a busy, noisy hallway. Like she didn't even notice the sudden discomfort, nervousness, fear, and anxiety that was in the air. It was too intoxicating to be unnoticed, I couldn't believe she successfully acted like she didn't give a shit.
Right from when she walked into the hallway, head and nose high up in the air in her form of pride, literally looking down on everything and everyone, a straight, unimpressed look on her dark, intimidating, pretty dark face.... One that made me feel sick to my stomach.
Her presence alone made my heartbeat pick up speed in a manner that may have been dangerous to my health, and it seemed like all my senses were becoming hyper sensitive, setting my entire body in a state of intense panic.
"Hi, Giwa!"
"Hassana, I LOVE your hair!"
"Giwa, hey! We're twinning kinky braids!"
"Prissy, your skin is always glowing!"
"Giwa, how are you? Hi!"
"Giwa, what about Shade? Have you people reconciled?"
Those were the voices of classmates' getting all mixed up in my head as they basically worshipped the ground Giwa and her friends walked on.
Giwa did well to act like everyone around her was a ghost. She responded to no one. However, my set being as shameless as they could be, didn't stop throwing all their pride and dignity on the ground for her to use as a foot stool.
They were so terrified of her. They were so terrified of Giwa Falade, yet they still tried to please her... Something I could never fully understand.
The Invisible rules....
The Invisible rules...
The Invisible rules....
"Dabz, breathe." Chika noticed that my breathing had paced up too, and she held my hand, tried to calm me. To bring me my peace.
Giwa and her girls walked past us without even turning back and if Chika wasn't holding me, I may have slumped from fear. Giwa didn't even notice me, yet such close proximity with her was enough to destruct my sanity, and able to get my senses go haywire.
"She won't do anything to you, Dabz," Chika assured me, a little smile curving at the base of her lips. "Relax, she's not that bad."
Easy for her to say.
Of course, Giwa talked to the sisters. Occasionally. Especially Chika. How wouldn't she seem so bad to Chika and the other sisters then?
All I knew was that Giwa was a nightmare, and with the way half the hallway was its most unstable at the moment, it was obvious that everyone agreed that she was a horror to behold.
"What's she even feeling like? Because we are greeting her, she's snubbing us?" I heard a girl's voice behind me.
I looked back to a bunch of sore Class F girls who literally showered Giwa with praises, literally seconds ago, snorting and burning with rage and jealousy.
"Giwa will just be feeling herself anyhow, like she's some celestial goddess of some sort! That her friend, Hassana, her own is to pick who she'll answer, just because people use to praise her that she's beautiful. And that other nonsense girl that doesn't have any hair, abi Prissy or whatever her name is, it's because they're covering her now! Let her come back to class and see! I just hate those girls!"
"I hate them so much. Even that proud celeb girl, Shade! The one that is paining me pass sef is that Giwa Falade! Her own pride is too much! She's just too rude! Abi, you people saw what Ivandor did to her last week, sef!"
"Ahh, me and Kamele were there live and direct! Serves that bitch right, abeg! That's why me, I like Ivandor! He finished her like mad, I love that boy!"
A cackle of evil, shrieking laughter sprung from the girls and I got so irritated that Goosebumps formed on my skin.
Chika stopped walking abruptly, causing us all to stop walking as well.
"Chi Mama?" Soma was confused.
Chika didn't respond to Soma. Didn't budge either. Just stood there, and looked at Abba Praise and her other Class F classmates and friends, with the most unimpressed, most uncomfortable stare in the world, like she was just analysing their stupidity and cowardice ever so casually.
The girls seemed so confused and scared. Looking amongst themselves and wondering why Chika was just staring at them. Dera, a girl amongst them laughed nervously, raised feeble, confused hands to wave at Chika, who didn't even budge or return the greeting.
It quickly became too awkward for them, and after a few neck rubbing, nervous laughter, and seconds of feeling extremely stupid, the girls walked off.
Chika scoffed, shaking her head as she resumed her walk. "Cowards."
Word. The most they could do was praise Giwa to her face and talk bad behind her in all their cowardice. And now? Chika basically just scared them away.... by doing absolutely nothing.
We resumed walking, eyes straight ahead, and I nearly passed out as my eyes caught something.
Someone.
One of Giwa's friends.
She was looking at us.
No... Behind us. To the Class F girls leaving.
Hassana.
Yes, that one. She didn't stop walking with her friends, but her head was turned back, and eyes were intently watching the Class F girls leaving behind us.
Did she hear them..?
I couldn't tell... But there was something about the way she just looked at those girls that didn't sit well with me.
It was ultimately a basic, casual stare, but for a moment, for the shortest of seconds, there was a form of blood thirst and vengeance in those star filled eyes of Hassana.
Or.. Was I seeing things...?
Hassana noticed us and her aura was back. The yellow girl blossomed like a flower, pure and genuine happiness in her eyes as she grinned so wide, waving exaggeratedly and excitedly at the sisters.
After such exaggerated gestures of excitement towards Chika and Soma, she noticed me by Chika's left, paused for a moment at me, demeanour faltering for a second, and something akin to pity flashing for a second and leaving. Then, she blessed me with the most beautiful, warming smile that completely suspended my entire body and soul into a space of total peace, warmth, and calm.
Jesus..
How did she do that..?
She looked away and all my peace was gone.
Immediately. The instant Hassana looked away from me, as she got distracted by a bunch of Sport boys/Ballers who got to their clique, jumping and excitedly engaging in a conversation with them as they tried intently to keep up with her walking pace, or rather the walking pace that Giwa Falade had set for all of them, undeterred, all that peace she made me feel for a moment was gone.
The moment Hassana turned away, it was all gone.
We got into class and it was empty and devoid of a lot of classmates. I felt a tad bit better.
Well, until we halted on our tracks again, few steps away from the door, as we caught sight of the two girls we least expected to see in class.
"Ebere and Ebube?" Soma took a step back, surprised as well.
Yes, the Onuoha Twins.
The two identical girls were already on their seats, our row, legs crossed, and looks of intense concentration on, as they seemed to be in a deep conversation of some sort.
And the moment they heard Soma's voice, both girls froze... at the exact same time. As in, stooped moving, stopped talking, just stopped. Like they were put on a pause with some sort of magical, invisible remote controller.
It took about two to three seconds before they actually unfroze. Again, at the exact same time. And slowly, in sequence, the two girls raised their heads up to look at us, a neutral resting face moping back at us, like there was no tension whatsoever in the classroom.
"Hey."
It was Chika who spoke.
And with a warm smile on her face, she easily strode towards the twins, and hesitantly, Soma and I followed.
"Hey." Ebube greeted back, and a quick, reluctant smile barely twitched on Ebere's face before she looked away from all of us.
Chika who already got to her before we did, pulled out a seat from the table in front of the twins to ensure she was facing them. Ebere tried her best to avoid eye contact, straight look marrying her whole face.
Sliding with her red school shirt, over the turned chair positioned the opposite way to the twins, Chika straddled the chair, rested her jaw on the top rail and threw an easy smile at the girls who weren't retorting it.
"So?" She raised a teasing brow alongside that smile on her face that looked like a smirk. "How far na?"
Ebube looked to her sister as if to see if she had permission to answer, and when Ebere gave no signal, she turned back to Chika, sighed, and answered, "We're great, Chika."
"You don't look so great," Soma blinked at the two, look of concern on her face as she sat on the free seat next to Ebere. I took the other one by Ebube, it was my seat after all.
"I'm not." Ebere finally spoke, it looked like she was trying her hardest not to look at any of us. Literally looking anywhere but us. "You guys hate me."
Everyone did a double-take except Chika, she actually looked amused.
"Ebere, nobody hates you," Soma was gentle with her, stroking her red, long braids to make her feel better, and Ebere touched Soma's hand, muttered for her to stop, and Soma quit touching her hair.
"Why would you think we hate you, Ebere?" Chika asked the girl, and the latter smiled wistfully, and gave a sad 'I don't know' shrug in response.
"Look, babes," Chika just sighed. "About yesterday, I didn't insinuate you were shallow. " She leaned in closer to Ebere to emphasize. "I don't think you are shallow, Ebere."
Ebere looked directly at Chika for the first time, a sad, yet appreciative, genuine glow in her eyes, and a little smile forming on her lips. "Thank you, Chi." She sighed, shrugged, seeming to be looking for how to say whatever she wanted to say next. "I know, I kind of.." - A little embarrassing laugh left her-, "I kind of over-reacted yesterday, I just thought you guys were misunderstanding me, and it.. it hurt a bit." She played hesitantly with her fingers and corrected herself, "A lot."
Chika smiled at Ebere.
"Now, you know we don't and will never see you that way, right?" She asked the girl, and a little smile grazed Ebere's lips as she nodded a soft yes.
"My sister is a bit sensitive with things like that-" Ebube was saying.
Being called Shallow, she means?
"And I was just trying to help Dabi, you know?" Ebere took over, cutting her sister off.
"We know," Soma assured her, and Chika agreed.
"I think we all have the same motive, but different techniques," Chika said. " Maybe next time, we ask Dabi what she wants, instead of deciding for her."
Ebere looked to me, So did Ebube. And Soma. And Chika.
I smiled weakly, not sure what to say.
"Sorry if we pushed you too much, Dabi, we were just trying to help," Ebube said to me, and I nodded, smiled again to make her know all was good.
"So, does this mean we're all good now?" Soma blinked hopeful eyes at each and every one of us.
Ebere actually laughed a little. "Yes, Soma, we're good."
"You can make noise about it, tall girl," Chika laughed too, giving her the go ahead.
"YESSSSSSSS!" Soma screamed out , loud with all her energy and vigour, and the few people in class shook as a result of the unexpected scream, but she didn't care.
And honestly, neither did we. The sisters were back and I started to feel that this morning wouldn't be so bad after all.
For a moment, all I felt was pure joy.
"Girls, gather in! Gather in!" An over-exaggerated Soma stood up and spread her arms wide for a hug, and the sisters, who couldn't contain their joy as well, came together as she has asked us to, and we held one other in a warm, loving embrace.
"Pledges?" Soma announced to us after our hug, brought her hand down on the desk in a gesture of swearing an oath.
Chika laughed. "Oh, come on, Soma!"
"Sisters, bring your hands together!" Soma screamed.
"Fine, Soso. Hish! Loud much?" Ebere started.
"Seconded, she's so extra," Ebube continued, as she and her twin obliged, placing their hands on top of Somas', me and Chika suit.
Hands on hands as a sign of genuine commitment to whatever we were about to pledge to, Soma spoke for all of us. "We all pledge to never let the sun go down while we're still mad at each other!"
"We all pledge to never let the sun go down while we're still mad at each other," We all repeated right after Soma.
"And that's on commitment, sisters," Chika said as we let go of each other.
The twins agreed.
"No matter how big or small our fights are going to be in the future, we must forgive each other before the day is over," Ebere said, meaning every word.
"Seconded," Ebube agreed. "Because, we aren't just friends. We're sisters. And Sisters are family."
"And family isn't supposed to hold a grudge," Soma said.
Family isn't supposed to hold a grudge...
But I have hated my dad for the longest time...
And he has hated us all too...
But, then sometimes, family isn't just a thing of blood..
Like the sisters. We weren't related by blood, but we made up one big family.
So, yes, they were family.
And family isn't supposed to hold a grudge..
"No matter what." I completed for Soma.
That was a wrap, I guess? We were back.
Soma suddenly jumped up as a realization hit her. As in, a full real jump, feet leaving the air a good centimetres.
"It's five minutes to Assembly!" She screamed.
How did she know? She wasn't even with a watch?
"MY BELL!" She screamed again, literally racing to the window by the end of the class to grab her favourite instrument and we all couldn't help but laugh at the ridiculously tall, over active girl.
"Soma will soon pick that bell over our friendship," Chika commented and we all laughed it off.
The bell clanged as Soma picked it up.
"Cover your ears, sisters," Ebere warned us, and we obeyed instantly because we knew what was happening.... Well, the few people in class knew too, they did same.
Soma rang that bell like she was a mad woman.
"GO OUT FOR ASSEMBLY OO! GO OUT FOR ASSEMBLY OO!" She was ringing the bell for vigorously as she ran from where she was, till she was out of the class.
We followed the over active girl out of the class, laughing our asses off as we watched her, literally running down the entire hallway, causing havoc, confusion, irritation, and disturbance as she clanged the bell in annoyed classmates ears, screaming and announcing that they should be leaving for Assembly.
"No Utility prefect in the history of Utility prefects of CH has taken this particular post more serious than Somadina Best," Chika said as a matter of fact.
We couldn't have agreed more.
Comment which of the sisters you would love to get locked in a room with for hours, and give reasons why they're your choice. (Inhales alien fart)
Stay tuned for the next part of this chapter. (See how I'm sounding like a commercial host or something)
So, the sisters are back. Yay? These girls make me wish I had a clique, but nahh, I'll pass. Unless I can find a Chika, Soma, and an Ebere and Ebube, then I'm getting no clique. (Sips acid)
See you in the next chapter!!
