Chapter 32- A Night To Remember ||
My heart struck as the loud bang echoed in the room. I stopped breathing for a moment tightly closing my eyes. I couldn't feel any sensation except the throbbing heart and the vibration of my eardrums that made me shudder.
A warm tear rolled down my cold pale cheek.
I was dead, I was surely dead...
But the rumbling noises in the room made me think otherwise. I could feel my heartbeat could feel my chest going up and down. In the background, I could hear a rasping voice cussing loudly.
Wait, so I was alive?
I instantly opened my eyes.
My eyes widened with shock and disbelief. I wasn't dead. I was alive, not even a single scratch on my body. It was because someone had changed the path of the merciless bullet that was going to hit me. Instead of my head, it has pierced the wall behind me. The hole that was burnt by the bullet was smoking, showing how ruthlessly it penetrated the surface.
I gasped as I witnessed the two men who were fighting in front of me.
"Jungkook..." My parched lips weren't able to produce the voice I wanted. My throat was dry. Almost let my vocals out as a croak.
Jungkook was behind him, grasping the man by his hand which held the gun. His impact must have caused Hyeon to miss his target. Jungkook's arm was around Beom Hyeon, choking his neck while the other one was gripping the hand that handled the pistol.
"What the fuck!" Beom Hyeon struggled to loosen the grip Jungkook had on him.
My heart was pounding loudly, my body was leaning against the wall, without being able to budge my tensed body.
"Y/n, get out of here!" doe eyes him gaze at me, trying his best to hold the other man still.
But Hyeon was a muscle pack, he was violently swinging his arms to reach Jungkook's neck. It was a war between the two men. Jungkook's lower lips were stained in a red patch. His dark hair was messy and sticking to his forehead because of the sweat.
He was doing his best to save me.
I couldn't leave him there, not like that, not with the vicious man who was like a wild beast that had gone mad. My legs were glued to where I was standing, not being able to follow what Jungkook said.
Suddenly a harsh punch by Beom Hyeon whacked his jaw. His fist flattened Jungkook's face, making him lose his balance and lose grip on Hyeon. Jungkook was thrown a few steps back. He painfully groaned and rubbed his jaw. Taking his chance, Hyeon charged at Jungkook, rumbling with him to the ground.
His whirling savagery didn't allow his heart to show any mercy to the other man who barely had time to recover from the previous puncture. Beom Hyeon took over and tripped Jungkook to the ground. His fists curved into a ball to flatten his face. The merciless beast threw his fists at Jungkook, who was struggling to avoid his punches.
I had to do something. I couldn't stand there like a mere stature and watch Jungkook bleeding to death. My eyes searched for an object I could attack with. Instantly my attention was drawn to the wooden chair near the table in front of me.
I rushed towards it without sparing another second.
Meanwhile, Jungkook was trying to reach the pistol that was lying on the ground. But his attempts were failing because of the weight and the pressure of Beyom Hyeon. As Hyeon spotted the pistol that was lying near him he suddenly stretched his arm to grab it.
If I had delayed one more second it would have been the end of Jungkook.
I lifted the heavy wooden chair and swung it against the furious man with all my strength before he could pull the trigger. It landed right on his spine, hitting his neck and head too. It sure was a lethal attack.
With a loud painful groan, Beom Hyeon landed on the floor, colliding with his big muscular body. His forehead opened blasted and started bleeding. Hyeon hissed in pain glaring at me with his bloodshot red eyes.
Jungkook quickly shrugged off the man and got on his feet. He kicked away the man who was grasping him by his trousers and hustled towards me. He immediately pulled me into a quick tight hug, relieved by the fact that I was unharmed. We couldn't remain in each other's embrace as Beom Heyon regained his strength.
He gripped his gun again and tried to stand up. But his body was too weak to balance himself because of the trauma. Hyeon breathed furiously, licking the dripping blood that was tickling down his forehead.
He suddenly started laughing like a maniac. His devilish chuckle was giving the living creeps out of me.
"You can keep trying Park Y/n, but I won't stop.." he paused for a moment to wet his dry lips.
"I'll kill you like a dog, I swear on my brother's grave!" he gripped the pistol to aim at us.
"Run Y/n, run!" Jungkook grabbed me by my hand and pulled me away from the place we were.
Beom Hyeon started shooting at us. Because of his injured hand, he couldn't handle the gun as skillfully as he usually was. Jungkook was quick enough to dart out of the room, dragging me along with him. I could feel bullets flying right next to my ear, but not being competent enough to hit us.
We ran out of the room, dodging while running to avoid the piercing bullets that were bypassing us. Jungkook's tight grip remained on my hand as we sprinted.
We ran as fast as we could through the passage until we found the staircase that took us to the lower decks. The door opened to the cold front deck. A gush of wind blew as Jungkook wide opened the door. We walked outside, slowing down our pace.
Considering the wounds Beom Hyeon had, he possibly couldn't reach us. But that was only for a short while of course. We had to be cautious about any danger that was lurking behind us.
We both leaned our backs against the wall to catch our breath. Jungkook was panting heavily. His lips were bleeding, his white shirt was patched with red stains. We stood without talking till we recovered.
I cupped Jungkook's face, caressing his bleeding lips.
My teeth gritted as he hissed in pain. He was wounded because of me. Because he tried to save me. I felt myself flooded with guilt and agony. Seeing his stained and bruised face, my heart clenched with pain. I fought hard not to let out a sob.
"Y/n, it's okay.." his hands softly took mine, trying to convince me.
"You are bleeding Jungkook, I'm sorry, this is all because of me," he kept his index finger over my lips, gazing at me with a concerned smile.
"Shsh, .. It's not your fault love," he squeezed me into a comfortable hug and brushed his lips against my forehead.
"For a moment I thought I lost you Y/n, I won't be able to forgive myself if that ever happened" his voice was quiet.
"Why didn't you leave when I told you to, huh?" his eyes fell on me, breathing into me. His dark locks had fallen to his forehead sticking them. But even that way his alluring handsomeness didn't fade away.
"I couldn't go Jungkook, I couldn't leave you there," my eyes welled up with tears. Jungkook's eyes looked emotional.
His lips met mine, diving for a deep kiss. His kiss made me warm on that cold night. The ocean was silent, only the resonant of water hitting the trunk of the ship echoed in the air. My hands rested on his chest, closing my eyes as we kissed. The shivering coldness didn't bother us. We were glad that we were with each other.
At that moment, the only thing that mattered to us was the fact that we were safe at that moment.
But I was wrong, I was so wrong.
It was the night that everything started breaking apart in my life. It was the night that god had his humor on thousands of souls that sailed on that ship that night. The tragedy that made millions of people wail came to pass that night.
It was at that moment that the R.M.S Titanic, the unsinkable ship collided with an iceberg.
14th April 1912, around 11.40 at night she encountered a massive iceberg that caused her to peril, meeting the deep bottom of the cold Atlantic.
What do you guys think? Will Y/n and Jungkook be able to survive? What happened to Beom Hyeon?
Stay gold guys ❤️
