Chapter 29- Double Trouble

I must've been there for seconds, maybe minutes, maybe hours... without him I felt like my whole world was sinking in the dark. The clock's hands were stuck in one place,  displaying a sharp two in the

afternoon while I was jittering with anxiety.

It had only been an hour without Jungkook but I felt like ages.

Where are you? I'm scared...

I continually kept praying that this might be only another nightmare, just a bad dream I had. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I didn't want to live in the reality of that moment cause reality appeared as a misery to me.

How did Beom Heyon get here? Has he been here since the beginning?

But probably I couldn't have survived that long without confronting him if he had been onboard since the beginning of the sailing, could I?

The only theory I had in my mind was that he got into the Titanic when she was anchored during the stop in Canary Island.

I was sitting on a cosy sofa in Madam Collete's room as she urged me to make myself home there. I was very comfortable and felt very welcomed because of the hospitality of the kind woman. She was trying her best to make me feel better and stable. I was genuinely relieved by her efforts of concern but the agony that was engaging me overlooking that.

My dwelling thoughts dispersed as a soft hand rested on my shoulder.

I turned my head towards the figure behind me with a small smile that depicted the discomfort my mind was going through.  My body was curled, and my head was resting on the knees that were pulled towards my body.

"Y/n dear, Oh god, look at you poor thing, you are trembling!" she immediately wrapped a thick coat around me to make me warm.

I was indeed shuddering.

My whole body was trembling like a fever patient with chills. At that point, I couldn't presume whether I was shivering because of the cold or the shock I had.

"Here, have this, you will feel better" Madam Collete gently held my hand and gave me a warm cup of melted chocolate milk. My cold hands managed to take a grip on it without spilling the thing all over the couch.

She left me alone with that, leaving me with my thoughts only. She was a wise person. Her mature measures made me more relieved of apprehension than I was.

Just when I thought I was going to start a new beginning, this mountain of misery and thrones of the past had to tear me down without any mercy.  I was no longer safe on this ship. My assassin had already tracked me down.

This first time I may have gotten lucky, but Luck won't be stuck with me for long. Long before, I would get caught in Beom Hyeon's merciless arms and my life would get cut short.

Yes, I agree that before I would have given up already. But I had to survive at that moment. I had to persist because of Jungkook.

He told me to stay alive no matter what happens,  he promised me that he wouldn't let anything happen to me.

"Jungkook, where are you?" my breath whispered to the air.

At that moment, the only thing I could do was wait for Jungkook. I was waiting for him to return to me.

My heart sank as I perceived the fact I was putting many others' lives at risk because of me. Jungkook, Taehyung, Madam Collete, everyone was in jeopardy because of me who happened to clash in their calm lives.

I sulked with sore beliefs.

Knock knock.

I flickered at the door as the knock sound echoed in the room. Madam Collete surged towards the door before unlocking it revealing a tall body that peeked in. His fallen ebony locks and black-doe eyes made me rise from my seat the instant I recognized him.

"Y/n!" he rushed towards me as he saw my figure.

"Oh Jungkook, what took you so long?" my vocals were cracked as I spoke. A sob almost escaped me but I tried to hide the glistening tears in my eyes. My hands were tightly wound around him as I hugged him. He patted my head to calm me down while caressing my back.

"It's okay now, I'm here now" his voice delicately talked to me.

I stayed in his embrace for a while before exhaling a deep sigh.

"He's here, Beom Hyeon, he has found me Jungkook..." his hands cupped my cheeks, turning my face to him.

"He is in the Titanic? But how come?" his words exclaimed with disbelief.  I nodded with a worried gaze with the manifestation of fear that was startling me.

"I have no idea, he was behind me staring at me like he wanted to end my life right there," my lips were slightly trembling as I spoke.

"Sh sh...it's okay now, you are okay," he tried to reassure me. I heaved a long sigh and gazed at him.

"What am I going to do now? He must be out there waiting for me..." his arms loosen their grip on me, sliding his hands down to clasp mine.

"I'm still the captain of the ship, even though I no longer have the authority to imprison someone, I can convince Captain Smith about it. He's a wanted gang member isn't he?"

I paused for a moment before quietly speaking.

"So am I Jungkook..." he looked taken back by my words. He must have completely forgotten the fact that I was a part of the Gambino League.

"Damn it!" his fingers ran through his dark-coloured bangs with frustration and bitterness.

"Jungkook, what should I do? I'm a danger to you, I'm a burden to all of you-"

"You are not! " Jungkook ceased my sentence with his stern voice.

"Look at me Y/n," his palm softly grabbed me by my chin and turned me towards him.

"Never say that again, never say that you are a burden to me do you understand?" his words were strict, and I felt the fire inside his orbs. The obligation of his words made me feel much more confident than I was.

"You are a strong girl, no strong woman Y/n, you survived this once, we can get through this together. " he gazed at me with concern. I nodded.

His lips softly brushed against mine.

"You are not alone, we will sort things out" My head rested on his torso.

Jungkook had a plan.

His cabin was safer than any other place. There was high security in that part of the ship. His idea was to get me to his cabin safely and keep me there, meanwhile, I stayed, Jungkook would search for Beom Hyeon and keep him arrested under the ship officers for an accusation of threatening a passenger until we reached the lands and we safely got offboard the Titanic.

Well of course it is easier said than done, but it was our only option and the best option at that moment.  If Jungkook mentions anything about what happened back in the USA, I will probably be dragged into trouble too. We had to be careful as much as possible.

Madam Collete once again came to the rescue by giving me her attire to disguise. She handed me a comfortable long snow-like white dress. Little sparkly sequences added a bit of frill but it was more than enough for me.

"What about Taehyung?" I asked Jungkook while fixing the big hat with florals attached to the top, making it look more like a flowery vase. Well, it was the strategy of the fashion of first-class people.

Taehyung went to give the message but as I heard from Jungkook he was dragged away without letting him explain.  I was worried about him. Even though Jungkook told me not to hurdle myself about it I couldn't help but oversee the matter.

"Don't worry I'll make sure that he doesn't get into any trouble," his hand snaked around my waist, urging me to move.

"Love, he gazed at me.

"We should get going now" I perceived what he said and nodded.

I turned my heel towards the widow standing near the door with an amount of concern and agony expressed on her face. I clasped her hands between mine.

"Thank you for everything you have done for me,  I don't have enough words to thank you." she shook her head in a disclaimer.

"No Y/n dear, it's alright.  You don't have to thank you. I have cared for you like family since the beginning. Maybe it was destined for us to meet like this, on this ship."  her lips curved into a captivating smile. Her long eyes wrinkled as she smiled.

"Thank you, Madam Collete, I genuinely appreciate you" Jungkook didn't forget to thank her before we took our leave.

I felt like all the people around me were watching me, eyeing me like hawks to burn me down through their spiteful glares. I held Jungkook's hand tightly to get rid of the apprehension inside me that was dwelling on me. My heart was pounding because of the fear that I might encounter that monster on the way.

I could rest at ease only when we returned to Jungkook's cabin.

We couldn't even rest for a minute before another ominous warning barged us. It must have been only ten minutes after we entered the cabin.

"Sir!" a man with a navy blue suit showed up. His freckles made him look even more pale than he already was. He was panting and holding onto his knees as a support

"What is it, Victor?"  Jungkook queried.

"Sir we have bad news, sir, I couldn't make up my heart to keep that a secret to you. You are still our captain." the man glanced at Jungkook with loyalty flashing in his eyes.

"Tell me,"

"It's another iceberg sign, sir..."

I'm really sleepy right now. Titanic has only a few more hours before she meets with the sea bed of the cold Atlantic.

Lol I'll  see ya
