Chapter 20- Journey to The Unseen

The forenoon was late. The sunlight that dribbled down, gently mooched my skin, embracing me with its warmth. The winds were changing as we were drifting back to the cold Atlantic. I sure missed the warmth of the Canary Islands. Other than the topical cosiness on the island, I also missed the memories we made there.

It was where we first kissed, it was where we opened up to each other. That memory will remain in my heart until my last breath. Romance is what we made there.

Jungkook was quite passionate about almost everything he did. The job he did to the clothes he wore. And that moment I was waiting for him to show off his best suit for the meeting they were holding with the crew. It was an official and very crucial meeting where they were supposed to discuss the next step of the journey.

After the talk, we had on the island he seemed less overwhelmed than he was. The guy looks as light and joyful as he is supposed to be, more accurately, as he deserves.

Yesterday's remembrances made my heart flutter. As I was nuzzled in his chest his long fingers ran through my hair, wrapping his other arm around my waist, and pulling me closer to him.

"When the ship docks, I want you to get off with me Y/n" his words cooed into my ear.

I've never been that close to a guy in my life, not even to my brother Jimin. I snuggled more into him.

"I will, I have something to return to you remember? " I pulled out the pendant and showed him. He pressed his warm lips against my forehead, moving my fallen bangs away from my face. He was holding me like he was holding a child. It was the most romantic moment I have spent in my entire life. The whole night was about us, only us.

Things finally looked like it was going my way, the way I wanted to be.

My fate was ironic enough to lead me to Jungkook throughout the crisis my life was involved with.

Now there's no turning back.

He already accepted me as who I was. He didn't even flinch hearing who I was. For me, he was like rain to the desert, water to someone dying of thirst, a drug that I could never have enough of.

Bursting my bubble, Jungkook appeared in front of me wearing his usual uniform. But he looked different today. He looked breathtakingly handsome, his ravishing looks made my breath hitch. He flashed a grin at me.

"How do I look, Miss Park?" He asked cocking an eyebrow at me, meeting me with a sexy and tempting gaze in his eyes.

"You look handsome Mr Jeon Jungkook. Look a bit too handsome maybe" I smirked at him but instantly regretted my words. Was I flirting with him? The hell, yes I was...

My cheeks blushed with red as he looked at me stunned by my words.

"You think so hmm?" I gulped as Jungkook stepped near me, lifting my chin to him, his eyes precisely looking down at mine.

"Come on you are getting late for work," I gently took his hand down and urged him to go. The tension between us was making me jitter.

I turned back taking steps towards the cabin door only to get a tight hug from behind. A pair of strong and muscular arms wrapped around my waist pulling me towards him, making my back collide with his rock-like hard abs.

"Work can wait," he whispered in my ear, nuzzling his face in the crook of my neck. I felt butterflies doing somersaults in my stomach. His perfume dug through my nose bud, making me so needy for him.

Was he teasing me? Oh boy sure he was...

"Jungkook!" He chuckled as I snapped at him, leaving a quick peck on my cheek.

"We will have time for that, soon" his words made my orbs almost leave my sockets. Why is he so sexy and intriguing at the same time?

His hands loosened their grip on me, letting me go. Then he flashed an innocent smile like nothing happened.

"Come on let's go, I want to show you something interesting"

"I-"

This man was driving me crazy. He was crazy or we both were crazy crazy. I shook my head and followed him from behind. Passing the passengers along I felt like the Queen Bee for a moment. Walking next to Jungkook was like owning royalty for me. I don't think I have felt that important before.

We met the cheerful Captain Smith on the way.

"Morning Jungkook, morning Miss Park" he gently greeted us with a bright smile. I bowed and greeted him and so did Jungkook.

"Very good morning sir!" He enthusiastically said. Captain Smith must have noticed our fingers were entangled. He cleared his throat.

"Someone seems very hyped today," he chuckled making me sheepishly grin at the ground. He then turned to Jungkook. For some reason, I felt like he looked a bit gloomy as he talked with him.

I couldn't even understand anything he was talking about with Jungkook because I was too busy scrutinising Captain Smith's face.

Why do I feel like something is up?

As they were done talking Jungkook turned to me, waiting till Captain left to talk to me.

"That was weird" I was dumbfounded and looked at him with his words.

"Hmm?" I glance at Jungkook with confusion.

"We are going to have a drill soon" I couldn't understand what he meant by that. Reading my expressions he realised that I didn't get what he said.

"It's like a rehearsal, we put our lifeboats to the test in the sea" My lips took an 'O' shape with the realisation.

"Why so suddenly though? " my query made his forehead wrinkle as he thought about it, looking far away at the horizon.

"I have no idea either Y/n, I feel that something is off lately and I don't like that feeling" I have to admit his words made me shudder with an unknown dilemma feeling.

I shouldn't think about these things, A few more days and I'll be off with Jungkook. I only have to survive these days just like I was doing for so long.

I never thought that surviving those days could go wrong that day I happily jogged down to check the propellers with him, shrugging off the uneasy feelings I was having.

Until their discussion was held, I was waiting outside enjoying the view ahead. Black-coloured smoke arose from the four gigantic funnels of the ship, shooting the smoke into the sky. It amused me how much power it might use to get this ship moving forward, cutting through the rough waves.

"You look so serious, what are you thinking about?" A sudden voice from behind shattered my thoughts.

"Just random things" I turned to the man behind me. "How are those funnels working?" I inquired from him.

"Would you like to see how they work?"

"I would love to!" My arm wrapped around his as he offered me his hand with a smile lighting up my face.

The journey he took me behind the scenes of the powerhouse of the majestic queen was the most epic thing I've ever witnessed.

Titanic was powered by two nine-metre-tall steam engines, which drove the ship's three propellers: two directly and one via a turbine.

The steam engines were enormous and kind of scared me when their arms went up and down. The workers constantly worked hard, filling the ovens with cole. It was hot since the place was jammed with machines and the steam shroud added extra heat. I kept close to Jungkook, not wanting to fall into one of those huge machines and get crushed in my skull.

He explained how the steam generated gave the power to propellers. As he said the ship's 29 boilers were fed by 159 furnaces, which needed 660 tonnes of coal each day. This allowed Titanic to reach a maximum speed of 24 knots.

I watched the working men who were busy as bees. Sweat was tackling down their foreheads, and their clothes were soaked wet with sweat. Jungkook talked with them, checking on them. He was gentle with them, genuinely caring for them and encouraged their hard work.

Their blood sweat and tears were powering this Queen as I felt, unless for them any of these luxuries won't be possible. I suddenly stopped when I noticed a familiar face.

"Taehyung?" His face was dirty because of Cole. His clothes also had black patches nevertheless, his face had that boxy grin he always had.

"Oh hello there Y/n," he peeked over my shoulder and smiled at Jungkook as well.

"Jungkook! It's so nice to see you again"

"Hello hyung, how did you get here?" Jungkook approached us and took a good look at him head to toe.

"Care to explain what's going on?" He asked Taehyung who seemed, well bit out of the zone as he always was because he was so focused on the men who were working.

"I'm working on an amazing theme." He turned his book and illustrated us what he was working on. It was a man who was shoving the cole to the boilers. As always, his work was extraordinary. The veins popping up, the sweat tackling down, the stained shirt of the worker, he had depicted everything so perfectly.

I understood that he was there to capture the real-life picture of the working underprivileged.

The endeavour of the people that were living underneath perfectly put into the silhouette as an art. After seeing the picture he had drawn Jungkook suggested a name for that before we came up.

And Taehyung named it the name he suggested.

That's how that piece of art was named, "The Journey to the Unseen"

It took me some time I know. So maybe double update? 🙂
