Jenna was worried. 10 MINUTES! It was ten minutes past the time Jason was due to come meet her. Others would tell her not to worry, but she knew that Jason was never late. And she badly wanted to see him.

No, she needed him. He was the thing that mattered the most to her. He had been the first one she had met when she came to Camp Jupiter. Her first friend. Her everything. That charming behaviour and mannerisms that made her want to swoon, and that smile- oh, that smile. The smile that made her want to smash her lips against his. She sounded like a lovesick moron while thinking this, thinking this about her BEST FRIEND.

Snap out of it, Jenna. He's your best friend. JUST your best friend. He's not interested in you.

Yet, her thoughts of him continued.

The scar on his upper lip, the one she wanted to run her finger across.

That head of beautiful blond hair, the one in which she wanted to entangle her fingers.

Those icy blue eyes, the same ones she could get lost in.

The list continued on, the memories of him circling through her mind, and she drowned in them, missing out on time and people around her.

When she finally came to her senses, she held up her wrist and looked at the watch that was wrapped around her wrist.

10:15.

15 minutes late, and now Jenna felt panic wash over her. This was unheard of. Jason was always punctual.

She decided to look. She started with the baths, maybe Jason decided to take some time there?

No such luck. She moved on, and within half an hour she had scoured the Camp.

No sign of him.

By now, she was hyperventilating completely. She took a deep breath.

Jason has to be around here.

She decided to go to Reyna..

The daughter of Vulcan trusted that Reyna would be able to find Jason. After all, why wouldn't she! If Reyna could, she would launch a large-scale search for Jason.

Or, maybe, Jason and Reyna had some preator business and he was there with her!

She shook her head. She couldn't believe she hadn't thought of it before. That was the most rational explanation to it all!

She sighed and walked to the principia. She knocked on the door, and when no one answered, she pushed it open.

No one. There was no one there.

No Reyna, no Jason.

He can be in New Rome.

She rushed out of the principia, and ran in the direction of New Rome. Her initial thought was to enter New Rome, but then she thought to ask Terminus if Jason had come through instead.

She walked in the direction of the statue, and called out, "Good Morning, Terminus!"

He looked at her, and then said, "Jenna Thompson. Your weapons, please?"

Jenna torched out a laugh. "Oh, I'm not here to go into the city, Terminus."

"What if you do?" Terminus asked, suspiciously.

"Terminus, you'll know if I cross the Pomeranian line."

"Still, hand over your weapons."

She sighed. Her hand flew to her right wrist, and she ripped the charm that was her weapon off of the charm bracelet she wore. She silently handed the charm to Terminus.

The charm was a bejewelled wrench that had been gifted to her by Jason. He'd had it made specially, so that she could carry her sword everywhere with her.

She hated taking it off, especially at this point, when it was all she had left of her best friend.

"Now, Terminus, did Jason come into New Rome?"

Terminus assumed a thoughtful expression. Then his face snapped back into a stoic look, and he asked, "Why do you ask?"

Jenna sighed. "He was supposed to meet me," she checked her watch, a silver design she had made herself, "50 minutes ago. And I can't find him."

Terminus raised his eyebrow, and replied, "No, he hasn't come here since last evening, and he left within half an hour then."

"Are you sure?" desperation seeped into her voice, and Terminus couldn't help but feel a pang of pity by looking at this helpless girl. "No, he did not."

Her shoulders sagged with disappointment. Any other person would have given her false hope, by saying, "He should be around here somewhere!" But Terminus wasn't any other people. He told her, "I cannot help you find him, but I can help you find someone who can help you find him."

"Who?" Jenna asked. Any chance that someone could help her, she would take.

"Praetor Reyna did come in a few minutes ago. She went to Eva's."

"Thanks!" Jenna replied, before ripping off her watch and handing it to Terminus. He raised his eyebrow. "Shield." She called out, before rushing into the city.

She found Reyna exactly where Terminus told him she was. Eva's Place, the best restaurant for breakfast in the entirety of New Rome.

Reyna was having coffee with Belgian waffles, loaded with Maple Syrup. Jenna ran up to her, and then panted, "I can't find Jason. He was supposed to meet me around an hour ago."

Immediately, Reyna pushed away the food, and asked, "Did you search everywhere?"

"Yes, I did."

"I'll help you search some more. If we don't find him, we'll launch a full-scale search of the area."

And so they did search more. Reyna and Jenna left no stone unturned. Jason had to be found, no matter what happened.

An hour later, when he wasn't found, Reyna launched the search. A full-scale search for the missing praetor.

For an agonizingly slow day, Jenna searched and waited. When the moon rose over the hills of Camp Jupiter, and the milky way flowed through the velvety darkness, Reyna gave the word.

Jason Grace was officially declared missing.

As the words slipped out of Reyna's mouth, Jenna's world shattered.

Tears threatened to escape her eyes, but she repressed them.

She wouldn't cry.

Jenna Thompson never cried.

She didn't cry when she was captured, she didn't cry when all those demigods died.

Yet, now, the tears wanted to burst.

And that was when she realized just how much Jason meant to her.

He meant the world to her.

Without even thinking about it, she found herself saying, "I volunteer to go look for him."

For Jason, she would do anything.

Her sword in hand, her shield strapped to her arm, she charged at the monster in front of her.

She slashed at the monster with her sword, the muscles of her shoulder aching under the weight of the sword.

Something was wrong with the monster.

The slash of her sword rendered it to golden dust, but the moment the golden dust hit the ground, the golden dust started swirling, forming a miniature hurricane.

She looked into the center.

The monster's head was reforming.

She pulled up her sword and thrust it into the reforming head.

No use. You cannot kill it, little spy.

Golden eyes flashed in front of her.

She has risen, and she shall destroy all.

"You're lying!" Jenna shouted out, but it was no use.

The golden eyes and voice had disappeared.

The voice had filled her mind with one question.

Who was she

Adhara's Letters!

Prologue is here!

Honestly, I decided to do this at the last moment. At first, I wanted to NOT make a prologue, but here it is.

QOTD: Who do you think those golden eyes belong to?

Hope you have a nice/day night. Remember to stay safe!

Loads of Love,
