The next morning, I awoke with a pounding headache and a churning stomach. Groaning, I sat up in bed, the events of the previous night slowly coming back to me in hazy fragments.
I remembered the party, the drinking, and the unexpected events that had unfolded. The kiss Calia had given me and Tee's presence seemed like a strange dream, but the pounding headache was very much real.
I slowly got out of bed, wincing as the sunlight streaming through the window seemed too bright for my hungover eyes. I stumbled to the bathroom to splash some water on my face, hoping it would help clear my head.
I stared at my reflection in the mirror, taking in the messy hair, the dark circles under my eyes, and the overall disheveled appearance. I couldn't help but feel a pang of embarrassment as memories of my drunken behavior started flooding back.
I remembered the snarky comments, the stumbling, and the undeniable attraction I'd felt towards Tee, even if I didn't want to admit it. I shook my head, trying to push those thoughts away and focus on the present.
Just as I turned on the faucet, my phone rang, jarring me out of my contemplation. I groaned, grabbing the phone and seeing Hannah's number flash on the screen.
I picked up the call, bracing myself for a barrage of questions and teasing. "Hello?" I said, my voice raspy and groggy from sleep.
Hannah's cheerful voice came through the line, way too bright and bubbly for my hungover state. "Good morning, sleepyhead! You're alive!" she exclaimed, sounding way too cheerful for the early hour.
I winced at her energetic tone, rubbing my temple to soothe the headache. "Barely," I mumbled, my eyes squinting against the sunlight streaming through the bathroom window.
Hannah chuckled, clearly amused by my hungover state. "Rough night?" she asked, her voice dripping with curiosity.
I groaned, leaning against the sink. "Rough morning is more like it," I replied, grimacing as the memories of the previous night came flooding back.
Hannah could probably sense my suffering through the phone. "Oh, that bad, huh? You must've had one helluva time last night," she teased, her laughter only worsening my nausea.
As if on cue, I heard Jacoby's cries in the background, adding to my already pounding headache. I let out another groan and leaned against the wall, feeling more miserable by the minute.
There was some shuffling on the other end of the line, and then Jayden's voice came through the phone. "Hey, how you feeling?" he asked, the sounds of a crying baby still audible in the background.
I grumbled, gripping the phone tighter. "Like death, thanks for asking," I grumbled, my head throbbing with every word.
I chuckled wryly, leaning my head against the cool wall. "Oh, you wouldn't believe who gave me a ride home last night," I replied, the memories of Tee's presence still vivid in my mind.
There was a pause on the other end of the line, followed by Jayden's disbelieving chuckle. "Wait, who was it? Don't tell me it was Tee," he said, his voice a mix of surprise and disbelief.
I couldn't help but smile at his reaction. "Yep, the one and only," I confirmed, shaking my head as if I still couldn't believe it myself.
Jayden laughed outright, clearly amused by the unexpected revelation. "Well, I never thought I'd see the day where you'd willingly let Tee drive you home," he teased, his amusement palpable even through the phone.
I rolled my eyes, albeit with a hint of a smile. "Trust me, it wasn't exactly voluntary," I responded, mentally recalling the events of the previous night.
Before I could continue, I heard Terry's voice in the background, his booming laugh unmistakable. "You let Tee drive you home?!? Oh, this is priceless!" he exclaimed, clearly enjoying the news.
I groaned, the sound of Terry's laugh only worsening my headache. "Are you guys hanging out without me?" I joked, though there was a hint of truth in my words.
Jayden chuckled on the other end of the line. "Well, we figured you had a pretty eventful night, so we didn't want to disturb your beauty sleep," he replied, his tone teasing.
Suddenly, there was more shuffling, and then Hannah's voice came through the line again, sounding more intense. "Alright, spill the beans. I wanna know every single detail about last night," she demanded, her curiosity clearly piqued.
I sighed, mentally bracing myself for an interrogation. "Well, where do I even start?" I said, taking a deep breath to try and gather my thoughts, which were still fuzzy from the alcohol and the memories of last night.
I recounted the events of the previous night to Hannah and Jayden, leaving out no detail - from the party to Calia's unexpected kiss, to Tee picking me up and our banter on the drive home.
As I spoke, I could hear the collective gasps and exclamations of surprise and disbelief from the other end of the line. Hannah and Terry were clearly enjoying the juicy details, while Jayden's stunned silence betrayed his disbelief.
"You're telling us Tee walked you to your door and left you there without anything happening? No making a move, no kiss, nothing?" Hannah asked incredulously, clearly expecting a more eventful end to the night.
I shrugged, playing it off as nonchalantly as possible. "Gross, no. Why would I want him to kiss me? He's so annoying," I answered, trying to sound uninterested.
There was a collective scoff from the other end of the line, followed by Jayden's knowing chuckle. "Right, because you totally don't find him the least bit attractive," he added sarcastically, seeing right through my act.
I rolled my eyes again, silently cursing Jayden for his perceptive nature. "I can acknowledge he's attractive, doesn't mean I want him kissing me," I defended, feeling a wave of heat creeping up my neck.
Terry cut in, his voice filled with amusement. "Suuuure, keep telling yourself that, girly. We can all see through your tough act. You totally have a thing for Tee."
I raised an eyebrow at Terry's nickname for me. "Did you just call me 'girly'?" I asked, my irritation momentarily overshadowing my hangover.
I could practically hear Terry's smirk through the phone. "Yeah, got a problem with that, girly?" he responded, his tone playful but laced with cocky confidence.
I was growing tired of their relentless teasing, especially Terry's annoying nickname. "Alright, alright, I gotta go. I have work in the office," I said, my tone final.
There were a chorus of protests from the other end, but I quickly said my goodbyes and ended the call before they could continue their relentless pestering.
After finally ending the call, I stepped into the shower, letting the hot water soothe my aching muscles and wash away the remnants of the previous night. Once I was done, I dressed in a professional outfit and headed to the office.
Once I arrived at the office, I settled into my desk and started to go through the usual day-to-day tasks. Today, it consisted mostly of reviewing offers for commercials and collaborations that people were trying to do with the NFL.
As I sifted through the emails and proposals, I silently admitted that the work was somewhat monotonous, but it was part of my job as an NFL agent. I had to constantly stay on top of these endorsement deals and make sure they were beneficial for both the athletes and the NFL.
Occasionally, there were interesting offers and projects that caught my attention, but for the most part, it was a routine task. I had been doing this job for a few years now, and the monotony was something I had grown accustomed to.
As the day wore on, I could slowly feel the time slipping away. I had almost forgotten about the upcoming NFL awards ceremony that I was supposed to attend. It was a significant event, and I had a lot to do to prepare.
I grabbed my planner and started going over the list of tasks I had to complete before the awards. There were emails to respond to, calls to make, and even some last-minute preparations to oversee.
When the clock hit 6 P.M., I realized it was time to leave the office for the day. I gathered my things, shut off my computer, and headed out of the building. The cool evening air greeted me as I stepped out, and I found myself feeling a mix of exhaustion and anticipation.
As I walked towards my car, my phone suddenly rang. Glancing at the screen, I saw an unfamiliar number flashing on it. I considered ignoring it, but something told me to answer.
I picked up the call, bringing the phone to my ear. "Hello?" I answered, my voice a mix of curiosity and caution.
There was a moment of silence on the other end, followed by a familiar voice that sent a jolt through my body. "Hello, princess."
My heart skipped a beat, and I froze for a moment, recognizing the voice immediately. "Tee?" I asked, even though I knew it was him.
Tee chuckled, clearly amused by my reaction. "The one and only. Missed me already, princess?" he said, his tone cocky and smug.
I rolled my eyes at his cocky attitude, but couldn't help the flutter in my chest at the sound of his voice. "How did you even get my number?" I asked, trying to sound annoyed rather than flustered.
Tee chuckled again. "I have my ways," he replied, his voice dripping with feigned mystery.
I let out an exasperated sigh. "You're insufferable, you know that?" I retorted, a hint of amusement in my voice despite my irritation.
Tee's smirk was almost palpable through the phone. "You love it," he teased, clearly enjoying our banter.
Before I could continue the banter, Tee abruptly changed the subject. "So, princess, I've got something to tell you," he said, his tone slightly more serious than before.
I raised an eyebrow, unsure of where this was going. "What is it?" I asked, a mix of curiosity and wariness in my voice.
Tee's voice lowered, a hint of excitement lacing his words. "I got you tickets to the Bengals versus Commanders game next week. Front row."
I couldn't resist making a quick jab at him. "Oh, you bought me tickets so I can watch you run around and get tackled? How generous of you, Tee," I teased, a smirk playing on my lips.
Tee laughed, clearly enjoying my sassy remark. "Oh, trust me, princess, you'll be seeing a lot more than just me getting tackled. You might even change your mind about me being 'insufferable,'" he joked.
I huffed a laugh, not willing to let him off that easily. "I doubt it, Tee. You're like a thorn in my side, impossible to get rid of," I teased, though the butterflies in my stomach from his gesture were betraying my act.
"Love, you're gonna love watching me score touchdowns against your best friend's team. It's gonna be a sight to behold, just for you." Tee's voice lowered, his tone cocky yet seductive.
I swallowed hard, the implications of his words sending a shiver down my spine. "Alright, Tee, enough with the cheesy lines. I have to go," I quickly said, trying to regain control of the conversation.
Before he could respond, I swiftly ended the call, my heart racing from our interaction. I couldn't deny the effect he had on me, no matter how much I tried to resist it.
With the call ended, I stood there for a moment, trying to steady my racing thoughts. Tee's gesture of getting me tickets to the game had taken me by surprise, and the way he had teased me had left me feeling more flustered than I cared to admit.
As I headed to my car, I couldn't help but wonder what the upcoming game with Tee would bring - both on and off the field.
