                                         ~GIWA~

As I walked with Ivandor this time, he held my hand. His hands felt warm and I felt so safe. So much at peace. Satisfied. Relieved. Happy. All these emotions flooded me that moment.

And just like this moment was just created for me, I was hearing 'Like I do' by Fireboy blasting from somewhere I wasn't sure of.

🎶E sure for you, baby I'm going nowhere

🎶Your love is true, I know you'll always be there

🎶 I'm coming for you, baby, I'm going nowhere

🎶Your love is true, I know you'll always be there

The song hit different tonight for some reason.

There was a comfortable silence as Ivandor and I walked. A very comfortable, peaceful silence, like we both were savoring the moment at the same time.

The Fireboy song playing and the satisfaction of the night filled me up with a warming serenity, and well, a bit of high too. Euphoria, I'd call it. I felt so, so happy.

🎶No one could love you (like I do)

🎶 Nobody (baby, nobody)

🎶Noone could love you oo (like I do)

🎶Noone could love you more(Nobody)

And watching everywhere around me made me curious as to what being in the University felt like.

It was about 9pm or so and the school was still so packed and full. Everyone around me sure looked like they had a lot of freedom. Too much freedom.

Some of them were in groups. All happy and smiles, laughing together and having fun and all. Most of them strolled in pairs anyways..boy and girl, like me and Ivandor. Earlier, those kinds sickened me. But now, I actually smiled a little watching them.

I honestly didn't even want to go now, but I knew I had to. It was going to be a big day for me and Ivandor. We both were representing the school at the last stage of the Dynamis.

The Boys dorm was just a long road behind the suya spot, the girls dorms were much farther. You'd have to get to the suya spot first, walk past all the stores and bars around it that basically looked the entire school had picked that venue up as a general hang out or something. I actually hated passing there.

'Know your worth remix' by Khalid, Davido and Rema was playing as soon as we got to the dreaded hang out area and the aroma of freshly made Suya traced it's way to my nose making me instantly salivate.

"Should I get you suya?" Ivandor asked me, like he sensed my craving.

"I actually do, but_,"

I frowned when I saw the amount of people already packing there at the Suya Spot. There were so much, waiting for their turn to get suya.

Infact, the whole place looked fuller than usual. Couples everywhere. Friends hanging out, going all out and having fun. And with the loud music blasting from an unknown source, as well as the fun everyone was having here, it looked like an outdoor party or something.

I had to admit. It wasn't actually bad. I mean, asides the excessive show off of cars around, and the girls, wearing overly skimpy clothes that made me feel embarrassed for them, standing like losers around the guys with cars - let's say, about four to five girls to one guy with just one freaking car...

..I mean, that aside...I actually liked the rest of the environment..

And I could tell it wasn't just the University students alone that were here. I recognized some faces from Castron High and I bet some Trinity High students were probably also mixing up amongst the people.

I remembered this was the last night of the Dynamis. Maybe that's why everyone was going all out and coming out of hostel today.

"Isn't that your friend?" Ivandor said to me. My eyes traced the direction his' were set on, and very much surprisingly, I so happened to spot Hassana.

She sat on one of the tables infront of one of the pizza hut. I could also see she that wasn't alone.

"Boys will not be the end of Hassana Alfa," I laughed, as I watched the girl from my distance.

Apparently, she was sitting on this rectangular gate-leg wooden table, right in between two boys from Trinity Academy that I well recognised. Hassana was talking and laughing with them with so much enthusiasm. Typical, yeah?

Well, I recognised one of the guys to be..whats his name again? Ahmed? Ahmadu? No, that's not it. But, I'm sure it started with an A.

Oh, yes. Amir!

Yes, that was it. Amir. How could I even forget? Hassana screamed that name into my head many times enough for it to stick. Infact, the whole of SS2S' in Castron High talked about him this entire tour. He was like an intra-school heart throb or something.

And because of Hassana, I ended up meeting the guy and a group of his friends one of these Dynamis days.

Although, I couldn't quite recall the name of the guy on glasses that sat with Amir and Hassana, by her left.

"I have to get Hassana out of there so we can go to the hostel together," I told Ivandor. "As far as I know Hassana, she's not leaving those guys anytime soon."

"I'm coming with you," Ivandor decided, walking with me to meet up with Hassana as well.

Ivandor walked with me to meet Hassana and her new found friends.

I had barely taken two steps forward when this girl with pink and green braids, nearly pushed me down to the ground.

Accidentally, obviously. She seemed to be laughing and moving back as she pulled some random guy along with her, and she just happened to hit me while at it.

I was behind her when this happened and the only thing that stopped me from falling to the ground was Ivandor's quick grasp.

The stupid bitch was not even interested.

Whether she knew she pushed someone, I don't even fucking know! She was just there laughing, pulling the guy and bending down like an idiot, trying her best to showcase her disgusting thighs!

I hissed. She reminded me of Miranda Archibong. It's sad however. I never thought they were losers like her in higher institutions, but I guess I stand corrected.

"Stupid bitch," I growled as I let go of Ivandor to stand on my own glaring behind the girl as we walked past.

The bitch actually stopped.

Oh, so she heard me now and stopped, but when she nearly pushed me down, she acted like she didn't know she did anything.

"Abeg who is this one!" The bitch sneered at me, eyeing me nastily. "Look at this small secondary school children coming to our school to form DonJazzy for us oo!"

Excuse me?

My eyes had narrowed in a glassy death glare, and Ivandor held my hand immediately they balled into tight fists to stop whatever I was about to fo next.

"Let it go, Giwa." His voice calmed me down a bit.

Looking her over a little longer, I turned my face away from her, obliging.

Maybe, I'll just choose to be the bigger person, even if I'm fighting the urge to snap off those braids on her head and make her eat it.

I let it go.

And when my attention returned to the table Hassana was on, I noticed something new.

Remember Asa?
Yes, the girl that versed against me in the Dynamis Trip last year. The same girl I tormented with my win last year.. and yes..still the same girl I ended up sending the hand-written birthday letter to....

Yeah, that one. Well, she was sitting there on that same table with Hassana and the boys now.

Well, It seemed like she had just gotten there anyways. I figured because she was still trying to offload some food from a nylon bag she placed on the table, courtly and properly setting the paper take-away plate of food from the bag to the table infront of her.

Her mouth moved with the others on the table as she did, sort of in turns, like they all were conversing. Something I couldn't hear, obviously...and, even Hassana was talking to Asa..

Wow.

How many more of them had she befriended already?

Ivandor and I reached their table and the first person who actually noticed me was that dangerously handsome Amir guy that Hassana nearly deafened me about.

Hassana was laughing about something to him, and when his attention classically moved to me, I must say I was quite impressed with the silent, yet, confident-as-hell aura he enumerated. He looked like a prince.

"Hassana Alfa."

The rest turned to look at me as soon as I announced Hassana's name.

Well, I'd say Hassana and the other guy by her left who wore glasses did.

Asa did not.

The girl literally just paused. Her fork was still in her hand, so, I figured she was about to start eating her potato fries, but the way her action was suddenly halted, it seemed like the familiarity of the voice she just heard was still sinking in..

Hassana's eyes lit up in excitement as she saw me, I thought she was going to explode.

"Giwa Falade!"

It was the other guy next to her that called me. The one with the glasses who wasn't Amir, I mean. The witty, loud voice he used to say my name made it seem as though it was a clapback to me announcing Hassana's name like that.

I don't even know what called me more to this guy, whether it was the catchy grin on his dark skinned face or the big fancy looking glasses he had on that made me wonder if they were actually medicated or just designers or something.

I knew I had lowkey met him before. One of the days Hassana pulled me in to meet Amir and a group of other guys who were his friends.

He wasn't exactly the tallest guy in the group, I remember. However, his confidence and effortless swagger sure made up for it. But damn, what was that his name again?

"Ouuuuu Giwa love, I'm so happy you're hereeee!!! And you came with Ivandor too!!Yippie!!!" Hassana clapped her hands excitedly.

Asa's eyes landed directly on me at that point. I wasn't looking at her, but I felt it.

Of course, my relationship with Asa had been a bit rocky in the past. But then, when I had met Amir and the other guys a few days ago, we had talked. Not a deep conversation or anything serious, more like a quick encounter. But atleast, I was being fairly nice and receptive towards her, so maybe, by now, she'd be able to see that I indeed don't intend any harm anymore, right?

Right.

Without flinching, I casually turned to my head to look Asa square in the face.

"Hello Asachi." I said to her.

She looked unsure of how to react at first. My kind gestures sure have been surprising her, I'd been noticing.

Moreover, a smile slowly crept it's way to her lips and she replied. "Hey, Giwa."

I smiled back at the light skinned beauty that I thought would never have it with me even in her next life.

Maybe, we were friends after all?

"No way you're about to act like the rest of us don't exist!" The guy on designer glasses cut in immediately.

"Like for real, Giwa!" Hassana seconded, feigning fake offence. "So it's only Asa you saw, abi? You dinur see me abi. You dinur even see Amir, or Dave over here!" She referred to 'Dave' as the guy with the designer glasses.

Oh right. Dave. That was his name.

" Is it only Asa you know? Is Asa now your new best friend!" Hassana went on, causing laughs to be heard from everyone.

"Hassana, shut up!" I reamed between laughs.

"No oo!" She turned her attention to Asa. "No, oya Asa tell me the truth, are you trying to steal my best friend!"

Asa nearly choked on her fries as she covered her mouth, trying to control her laughter.

"No, Hassana. I'm not trying to steal Giwa away from you, I promise." She said to Hassana.

Hassana pouted triumphantly and folded her arms like a child. "Hmph!"

Forget all the illustrations and detailing going on in my head, everything that just happened right now - from me getting here, then to encountering Asa, as well as Hassana, Amir and Dave - happened in the space of about ten to fifteen seconds. And believe me, Hassana was very determined to keep me here way longer than that.

"You guys should sit down naw! Join in." She beamed as she tapped on the table infront of us.

"Hassana, we didn't_,"

"Don't tell me I'll have to bribe you guys into staying with icecream!" She whined, cutting me off as soon as she sensed I was about to decline.

"Try something else. I don't like icecream," That was Ivandor speaking up for the first time.

Hassana gasped in astonishment at what he just said.

"Amir doesn't like icecream too!" She exclaimed in . "Are you guys even human!? How can you not like icecream? Who doesn't like icecream!?"

"Well, two of us." Amir answered promptly, speaking for the first time.

Even if his voice was low tone, we all obviously still heard it, and we broke into laughter when Hassana turned her attention to him, nearly taking his head of for it, ranting on and on and on about how nobody should ever not like icecream.

God, Hassana! She got so jumpy over little things like this. And she had been all over Amir this entire Dynamis period. I almost felt bad for him.

"As much as I'd love to make you get me icecream, I didn't come here to stay, Hassana. And, Amir..," I turned to the halfcaste boy that sat with an effortless swag beside her. "Forgive my best friend. I'm sure she has stressed you enough."

Hassana gasped again and dramatically held her hand to her chest at my words.

"No, we like Hassana, for real," Dave answered instead, and Asa nodded in agreement.

Dave craned his head slightly to look at Amir. "Right, Amir?"

"Actually." Amir spoke up, a dainty smile forming at the corner of his lips.

With a simple shrug, he just said, "Hassana isn't bothering me at all."

You don't say, Amir.

On side note.. I was somewhat glad they accepted her. It was very easy to like Hassana, yeah, but, at the same time, it was very easy to find her blood boiling annoying as well.

But they liked her, so that was comforting. Made me have second thoughts about leaving.

"Here you go, beautiful."

I turned to my side, hearing the voice of a new individual who just joined the table.

It was a guy. Tall and bronze skinned, like he was mixed or something. And judging through the dark chocolate hair, I figured he was.

He basically just walked in here and the only person he paid attention to was Asa. He handed her something in a paper bag, probably something he had gotten for her from the nearby stores, and next thing his hands were sliding behind her and he planted a soft kiss on her forehead.

I smiled a little.

So, Asa had a boyfriend.

And he was apparently so into her that he did not even notice all of us watching the both of them.

"Oh, come on! You two should get a room already. Haven't we seen enough?" Dave bellowed at them.

Asa's boyfriend, as I've assumed, turned to Dave. His honey brown eyes lit up as a contagious smile spread across his face.

"Why don't you get your own baby, asshat!" He shouted back at Dave, hands still all over Asa.

"Shut the fuck up, asshat!" Dave didn't waste time reaming him back at him and laughing hysterically.

"Kam, what took you so long?" Hassana hollered at Asa's boyfriend immediately.

Kam.

"Sit down already and don't leave again! I want everyone else to be come so we can go and buy our pizza together!" Hassana said to him.

"Sorry, Hassana. You know I had to tend to my bae's needs," Kam replied, kissing Asa softly and briefly, and the girl blushed.

I fought the urge to aww at them. They were so adorable.

Kam was about to sit next to Asa when he noticed me and Ivandor.

There was this initial confusion and surprise written all over his face as he moved his eyes from us, me particularly, to Asa about three times or so.

Asa smiled softly and that seemed to have communicated something to him because a smile appeareared on his face thereon as he turned back to us.

He sure does smile a lot.

I won't lie, he wasn't bad looking. Definately wasn't exactly as breathtaking as Amir, but he was handsome in this rough, carefree type of way. His smile. Charisma. His beauty showed in them.

"Well, it's good to see you two." He said to me and Ivandor, causing my brows to crease in confusion.

I haven't met him before now.

Kam's look shifted to Ivandor and like it was planned, the two boys threw grins at each other like they were pals or something.

"Ivandor, my man!" Kam greeted first.

"I see you, bro!" came my boyfriend's reply, and the two embraced each other the usual guy way.

My eyebrows furrowed in further confusion.

Wait..did they..did the two know each other from somewhere?

"This guy is the real MVP!" Kam talked about Ivandor to the his friends.

Ivandor just shook his head disagreeing modestly and turning to Amir and Dave. "I should be saying that for my boy, Kam. You're his gees, you can testify with me."

"Right back at you, bro." Amir was the one who testified first.

"Kam's my guy!" Dave seconded, and Ivandor fist bumped Amir and Dave respectively.

Kam smiled, shaking his head at the boys.
"Nice to meet you too, Giwa." He extended his hands to me for a formal handshake.

"Same." I shook his hand promptly, ignoring the fact that he already knew my name and this was just our first meeting.

Well, Ivandor has some explaining to do.

"Can we do the meet and greet later??" Hassana whined impatiently and all attention turned to her.

"Where are the others, sef? We'll just buy the pizza and eat without them oo," Hassana thregtened, waving a fist in the air.

"You know that'll just be wickedness, Hassana!" Someone else shouted from a safe distance.

I turned towards the small bar close to our table and saw this big guy walking in and holding a paper nylon bag in his hands and Hassana's red purse.

From the last time I had met Amir and the others, I recognised him to be one of his friends, but the name wasn't coming to me. Was it Joseph? Jonah? Jubilation?

Needless to say, the big guy recognised me quickly. I could tell because of the way his eyes lit up as soon as he saw me.

"Giwa!" He exclaimed as reached us, and on hearing the tone of his voice, I instantly knew what was on his mind.

"Jubilation, No!" I exclaimed.

Before I knew it, he just wrapped his arm and round me, lifting my feet off the floor in a massive hug.

Lord, I saw this coming!

"Jordan, put my best friend down!" Hassana screamed at him.

Oh, right. Jordan. Not Jubilation.

Jordan did put me down, but a little bit too suddenly as if I stinged him.

Immediately, he looked to Ivandor with eyes wide as the realization struck him.

"Oh shit!" Jordan went. "Are you two..," he pointed repeatedly between me and Ivandor, still dumbstruck.

"Yes." Ivandor's reply was straight forward.

"Dude, I am fucking sorry!" Jordan exclaimed.

Ivandor just brushed it off lightly."No wahala."

"Jordan, where are my drinks!" Hassana called out to him.

"Hassana has turned me into her houseboy!" Jordan lamented, as he passed down the paper bag and purse to her.

I figured she gave Jordan her purse and made him buy drinks for her. Typical of her.

"What even took you so long?" Hassana scolded him like a parent scolding their child.

"Woman," another girl walking in answered Hassana's question promptly.

"Woman took him so long." She elaborated as she looked Jordan over playfully.

For some reason I liked her. She just gave off this chic and classic vibe as she walked. One that instantly made me know she was one hell of a babe! She looked awfully familiar too.

And goodness! Her hair was lovely. I loved the way she put them into two gigantic puffs. I had always been praised for my natural hair, but this girl's hair made me feel mine was basic.

Beside her was Kelechi; the Ms. 'Prim and elegant' of our set, a.k.a the Disciplinary prefect girls, and our set's royalty. The igbo princess.

"Luckily, I was there to rescue Kelechi from Jordan's clutches," the girl with the hair announced to us as she took a seat.

"You're just mean, Haliya!" Jordan playfully scowled at the girl whose hair I adored. God, he was such a big baby!

I couldn't blame Jordan for wanting to flirt with Kelechi. The girl was fucking beautiful! The ebony girl was most likely the tallest girl in our set, and she had this slim thic attractive figure that could make guys drool like dogs. To top it all, her eyes had an exotic grey colour that almost made her look unreal.

A guy would be tripping for all of that already and he'd just lose it completely when she actually opens her mouth to speak. Her accent was divine!

Kelechi didn't say anything as she got here. She just sat by Haliya's side quietly. She wasn't shy or anything, she just wasn't much of a talker. And neither of us have ever being super close to her.. except Hassana, but that's a totally different story on it's own.

"Yay!! Everyone is complete!! Let's get our pizza!" Hassana announced excitedly.

"Hassana, we should get going now." I finally spoke up.

"Noooo, we like Hassana!" Jordan protested immediately.

"Yes, Giwa! They like me!" Hassana seconded with the most whiney tone I've ever heard.

"Hassana, It's..," I checked the time on my phone. "10:37pm!"

"Oya naw, let's get pizza first then we'll go!" She whined again.

I sighed of exxasperation.

"Fine!" I agreed, and she squealed. She had been talking about it so much. It would be unfair to deny her that.

That's how Ivandor and I ended up hanging out with these people till I was nearly midnight.

Needless to say, going to the pool side on Hassana's request for us to have pizza together didn't seem so bad after all.

'Baby' by Joeboy blasted everywhere. God bless whoever the DJ was.

I must admit, the pool side looked like Heaven. My favorite combination of lights, Purple and pink, filled up the entire place, giving me that Ariana Grande 7 rings effect. The pool itself was beautiful and blue, and all around us, there were suya spots, barbecue spots, icecream spots, shawarma and pizza spots too.. Literally everything you would have needed was here.

We all sat by one of the round tables around the sides of the pool eating, gisting, laughing and I can't count the number of times Haliya and Kelechi told Jordan to shut up each time he checked out the girls in the pool.

Ofcourse they had to condone a little PDA from me and Ivandor, as well as from Kam and Asa. Dave and Jordan didn't rest at any opportunity to call us out and that cracked us up. Hassana unendlessly clung to Amir and it was beyond adorable.

All in all, I must say, I actually had fun. This wasn't a bad idea after all.

So much for the last night of the Dynamis Tour, right?

When it started getting too late, we decided to go back to our dorms. So, the guys agreed to go with the guys, and the girls agreed to go with the girls.

We walked in pairs out of the pool side, Me with Ivandor, Kam with Asa, Amir with Hassana, Dave and Jordan with Haliya and Kelechi.

Whem we got out, the boys decided to part ways with the girls, so as Kam and Asa said their mushy goodbyes, Ivandor kissed me softly and said. "Goodnight, babe."

I couldn't stop smiling that night.

I started walking back with the girls; Hassana, Asa, Haliya and Kelechi, and then all of a sudden, Hassana ran away from us without warning.

Jesus.

"Hassana!" I yelled, but the girl was already racing on her heels towards the boys we just parted ways with.

What on earth was she doing?!

"Amir!" I heard Hassana call out as soon as she was close to the boys.

The boys stopped almost at the same time. Slowly, they started to turn to see Hassana running towards them. Amir, looking the most confused out of all them.

Once, Hassana got to Amir amongst them, she leaped up quickly and...

Jesus Christ!!!

Hassana!!!!!

She leaped up and pecked Amir on the lips very quickly. Without even giving a shocked Amir or any of the guys there to register what had just happened, she quickly turned back and ran away, heading back towards us and laughing so much.

Christ, Hassana!

"Did you just..," Kelechi asked Hassana in shock as soon as she reached us.

Hassana laughed hysterically cutting her off. We all just kept staring at her in total shock at her brave move.

"Yes I did," she said.

Shrugging non-challantly, she told us. "C'mon, it's the last night of Dynamis and I may never get to see him again... soo...no regrets."

The girls and I looked at each other and ended up just laughing.

Someone remind me where I found Hassana again?

I walked with the girl till we reached the path to the our dorms. Asa and Haliya had to part ways with me, Hassana, and Kelechi eventually. Castron High and Trinity Academy had their separate dorms apparently, but they neigboured each other closely.

"Goodnight!" We waved Asa and Haliya before they dissappeared into their dorms, right after waving us off as well.

Kelechi walked by my side and Hassana clung unto my arm, resting her head lazily on my shoulders as she sang along to 'Up to something' by Mayorkun that was blaring from somewhere.

"Baby, you don't really understand....say na you, na you, na you, na youuuuuu!!!" Hassana sang along to the song out loud, causing me and Kelechi to laugh a bit.

I don't even know where the song was playing from. Music was literally blasting at every corner of this school.

Suddenly, my phone blared with an incoming message.

My anticipation peaked as I already guessed who it was.

.. probably a 'goodnight, I love you' message..

But when I looked to my phone screen, I realised my guess was totally wrong.

It wasn't Ivandor that texted.

It was..

..Shade?

Shade?!

Wait..Shade Onam.. texting me?

Wow. I did not expect this at all.

I read the message;

"Hey, Giwa. I heard you're representing the school tommorow. Goodluck❤️"

If I say I wasn't shocked!

I honestly don't know what touched her to text me. I didn't think Shade would want to talk to me again.

Just then, another message came in from Shade's line again.

It read;

. "This is Prissy, btw. How's the Dynamis going?😘"

Oh okay, that makes more sense now.

Ofcourse, it wasn't Shade.

But why would Prissy be texting me from Shade's phone?

Just in the middle of my thoughts, another message came in..still from Shade's line.

"Oh and about you and Ivandor..Sorry about that. I heard. Hope you're good though.."

Wait, what?

How did Prissy know we had problems. Did Shade tell her that? What exactly did Shade even tell her?

And again..why on earth would she texting me from Shade's phone?

My steps slowed down as I texted her back;

"We're good now. Thanks."

A reply came in seconds.

"Oh yay, that's good news then! I was getting worried about you guys. Hope he's okay though. He seems a bit off lately."

I smiled a little at her reply, as I remembered how sweet Prissy could be.

I texted back;

"Hopefully, he's fine. He was just having some personal family problems, that's all. I can't really blame him for being distant. If my dad ever got in jail, I may run mad"

That was the last message I sent before I got into the dorm reception with Kelechi and Hassana.

What I saw there took me unawares.

Relax, relax.. there's another update coming in a bit. Yeah, yeah, I'm a babe(whips hair)
