s02e20 - "Beside Still Water"

After killing Jonathan Morgenstern, Lizzie got a few hours of sleep before meeting up with her husband and Izzy at the operations center.

- Anything new? - Izzy asked as Lizzie, Clary, and Jace joined.

- We tried to track him together, like we did with Jonathan, but for some reason it didn't work - Clary answered her.

- Magnus's shields are up. Valentine must still be in the city - Jace told them.

- Thank the angel for Magnus and the warlocks - Izzy told him.

- They didn't do this for us - Alec told his sister and looked at her.

- Teams are combing the city block by block. We'll find him - Lizzie told them before she, Alec, and Izzy went to the other end of the table. A moment later, an alarm went off.

- Airborne sensors - Alec said before the group went to one of the monitors.

- Is that Valentine? - Clary asked him, and Lizzie crossed her arms.

- No, It could be some kind of Wraith demon - Izzy told her and she watched the red dot that moved over the map.

- Where is he? - Jace asked when man looked around for the winged demon that was flying over New York.

- He should be right above us - Alec told him.

- Alec! - Lizzie shouted as she saw the demon flying between the buildings. Everyone readied their weapons and her husband drew an arrow in his bow and watched for the demon so he could shoot it at the right moment.

- I've never seen a demon like that - Izzy confessed to them as the demon disappeared from view but all they could hear was its roar.

- Six! - Jace shouted. He and Alec quickly switched places and Alec shot his bow at the demon but missed.

- Do you see him? - Izzy asked him as they formed a circle and watched for the demon.

Alec drew his bow again.

- What the hell is he waiting for? - Clary asked her.

- It's coming around again for fly pass - Alec answered her.

- Alec! - Izzy shouted as the demon flew straight towards them.

- Relax, I got this. - Alec told her and shot his bow at the demon. This time it hit, and the demon broke into pieces that fell to the ground.

- Nice - Izzy told him.

- It's not over yet - Lizzie told them in horror.

Alec, Jace, Izzy and Clary turned to where Lizzie was looking. They all saw that the demon parts came to life and transformed into small demons.

- There - Alec told them and pointed to the demon that climbed up the building.

- They're splitting up - Clary told him, a demons scale buildings and others run into the subway.

- At least four demons are still unaccounted for. Notify all available personnel - Alec told them as he, Jace, Izzy, Lizzie, and Clary continued to walk through the streets.

- What's going on? Is everything okay? - Jace asked as Clary hung up. Clary had a grim expression on her face, which didn't bode well.

- That was Luke. Valentine's on his way to Idris - Clary answered him, and the group stopped and looked at her.

- What? - Alec asked in shock.

- How? - Izzy asked.

- He made a deal with the Seelie Queen. Luke warned all the other leaders of the Underground - Clary explained.

- To hell with Valentine - Jace said.

- If Valentine makes it to the lake... - Izzy started to say, but Alec cut her off.

- He won't. Malachi's army is armed and waiting for him - Alec told her who wanting to calm his sister down.

- We have to warn them. Who knows how many Circle members will be there? - Clary asked Alec.

- If we lower the wards, these demons could get out, spread beyond the city - Izzy told her.

- Maybe we don't have to lower them. Maybe my Portal rune will break through the barriers - Clary informed her.

- We can't all go, the demons have to be dealt with - Lizzie noticed.

- Clary and I will go. You three stay here, kill the beasts - Jace suggested and looked between them.

- Fine. Be careful - Alec said to Jace and Clary.

- Same, and when am I ever not careful? - Jace asked him.

- Alec is serious, you have to watch out for you so our child can meet his uncle - Lizzie told him.

Jace and Clary turned around, and Clary drew a portal rune and held out her hand, opening the portal. Moments later they passed through him.

Lizzie and Izzy stood in front of the monitor and looking at a map of New York filled with several red dots.

- Tell that to the others and come back to me - Alec said to another Shadowhunter when he stood in front of the table.

- There are over 50 of them now, and their numbers are growing - Izzy informed her brother, and she and Lizzie walked over to him.

- They haven't attacked once. What are they doing? - Alec asked them and looking at his wife and Izzy.

- I don't know, but demons don't usually come to our kingdom to explore. We need to find the rift they came from and seal it - Izzy told them.

- We'll need a warlock for that - Lizzie noted.

- Not just any warlock. The most powerful in New York - Izzy added.

- Magnus isn't interested in helping Shadowhunters. He said so himself - Alec told them.

- He still thinks the Seelie Queen is on their side. She needs to find out about the deal she made with Valentine - Izzy said.

- Well, not from me. He doesn't want anything to do with me, but I know who he's not mad at - Alec told them and looked at his wife.

- I'll talk to him - Lizzie told him, before girl left.

Lizzie went to Magnus's apartment and knocked on his door.

- Hello Lizzie. Did Alec send you? - Magnus asked Lizzie when he opened the door and looked at her.

- Listen to me Magnus - Lizzie started to say as Magnus let her into his apartment. - I know you're mad at my husband for hiding the fact that the Clave doesn't have the Soul sword, but we have more serious problems right now - Lizzie replied, but Magnus interrupted her.

- Is this you about the Seelie Queen making a deal with Valentine? - Magnus asked her.

- O that and more. Me and Izzy located the rift where the demons are coming out of - Lizzie explained to him.

- Oh, and Alec wants me to seal it. What a surprise! - Magnus shouted in mock surprise.

- We need a warlock to seal such a serious one - The blonde girl continued. - I wouldn't ask you to do this if the lives of Downworlders, shadowhunters and my unborn child didn't depend on it - Lizzie said pleadingly and pointed to her pregnant belly.

- I will close the rift, but I will do it for you and your child's sake, because yous do not deserve to die - Magnus told her and then gently caressed her cheek with his hand.

- Thank you Magnus - Lizzie thanked him with a smile.

After Magnus agreed to help Lizzie they both went to the Institute and on their way to the operations center they met Alec and Izzy approached them.

- I just spoke with Imogen. Despite her request, there have been no troop movements in and out of Alicante since. When she went to Malachi to see what the holdup was, she was told he'd left suddenly - Izzy said.

- So she believes Consul Malachi is actually a spy for Valentine? - Magnus asked her and he walked behind her.

- There is no other explanation - Izzy stated.

- Traitors are everywhere and anyone could be one - Lizzie noted as they all approached the table in the operations center.

- Jace and Clary are at Lake Lyn with Valentine, who knows how many Circle members and no military support - Alec said, and panic evident in his voice, so Lizzie put her hand on his shoulder.

- We have to help them - Izzy told them and then looked at her brother.

- I can't leave while the city is under attack - Alec told her.

- What do you have? - Magnus asked Izzy.

- We've identified the demons as a rare subspecies of adomei - Izzy answered him.

- Adomei? - Magnus asked her.

- Do you know them? - Lizzie asked him as she looked at him.

- They come from Edom. Tenacious little devils - Magnus answered them.

- We've noticed - Izzy told him.

- And extremely intelligent, capable of wreaking havoc in many ways - Magnus informed them.

- And yet they haven't attacked even once. What are they waiting for? - Alec asked him.

- They operate in hordes. Perhaps they are increasing their numbers to reach critical mass - Magnus told him.

- That's why we need to close this rift - Lizzie noticed, and Izzy enlarged the map of the city on the screen.

- Their entry point seems to be here, near Croton Point - Izzy said and pointed to a dot on the map.

- How long will it take? Jace and Clary are alone in enemy territory - Alec said sadly and was getting more and more worried about his Parabatai and Clary.

- Not long - Magnus answered them.

- Jace is my only family, apart from my grandmother and I won't survive if something happens to him - Lizzie said sadly and was close to tears. The girl had to deal with the pregnancy, and now worry about her twin brother - it was too much for her.

- Don't worry, he'll be fine - Izzy told her, trying to calm her down. - Now we need to move - Izzy stated.

Magnus created a portal and in a moment he and the three shadowhunters were on the beach.

- This is definitely the right place. What is it? - Alec asked as he saw something on the sand.

- Blood - Izzy replied. - Where did all the demons go? - She asked after looking around the beach.

- I'm not sure. They just don't normally fly off into the sunset - Magnus told them before they walked up to a large hole in the sand and looked down.

- Well, let's not wait until they appear - Alec told him.

- The amount of energy needed to close the rift from Edom is significant. It's not just a flick of the wrist - Magnus told him and walked up to the rift.

- Can you do it? - Alec asked him and he looked at Magnus.

- I am the High Warlock of Brooklyn - Magnus noticed and used his magic in the hole.

Lizzie almost screamed as the demon flew out of the hole and into the sky, knocking Izzy to the sand in the process.

- Izzy! - Alec shouted.

- Go! I'm fine - Izzy said to her brother, and Lizzie ran to her and helped her up.

- Cover me! - Magnus shouted to Alec, who started running towards the roaring demon while Magnus used magic on the rift. Alec then drew an arrow in his bow and aimed at the flying demon, but missed.

The demon roared in anger at him and started flying towards him.

- Magnus! - Alec shouted, and Magnus was close to closing the rift.

- Alec watch out! - Lizzie shouted to her husband as the demon shot fire at him.

Then Magnus turned around and shot a fireball at the demon. The demon, like the previous one, disintegrated into many smaller demons, which Alec began to shoot at with his bow. Izzy grabbed her whip and wrapped the last demon with it before it disappeared.

When Magnus finished closing the rift, he fell to the sand.

- Are you okay? - Lizzie asked him and immediately ran to him.

- You won't get rid of me that easily. Someone has to be a better uncle than Jace to your child - Magnus said with a smile and looked at Lizzie.

- Any news from Jace and Clary? - Magnus asked and he walked over to Alec and Lizzie who were looking at the map in front of them waiting for a message from Jace and Clary.

- No. They should have reached lake Lyn by now - Alec answered him and Izzy walked over to them.

- Weird - Izzy said and joined them. - The airborne sensors show no demonic activity - Izzy informed them.

- Yeah, there's nothing on the ground, either. It's like the adomei completely disappeared- Alec told her.

- I've never heard of that, once they go through the rift the demons stay here until they're properly banished - Magnus told them all.

- So where the hell are they? - Alec asked frustrated, and panic appeared on the faces of the three shadowhunters.

- What if something happened to them? Or one of them got hurt? - Lizzie started to panic.

- Honey, breathe in, breathe out - Alec said to his wife and grabbed her hands. The girl followed his instructions and after a moment calmed down.

Suddenly Alec groaned in pain and grabbed his shirt, then pulled it up. The parabatai rune on his hip glowed.

Lizzie had a very bad feeling.

- His Parabatai rune - Izzy said terrified.

- This is... - Alec started to say before he fell to the floor. His wife quickly knelt down next to him, and Magnus and Izzy did the same.

- I... I can't feel him. He's dead - Alec said with a heavy breath as Lizzie saw that his Parabatai rune was gone.

Her husband's words and the lack of the Parabatai rune shook her so much that she felt weak and had trouble catching her breath.

- Lizzie is everything okay? - Izzy asked her, who saw the paleness on Lizzie's face. However, she didn't hear the answer, because her sister-in-law lost consciousness.

- Honey, wake up - Alec said as he ran to Lizzie and tried to wake her up, but the girl didn't react. - I can't lose you and our child too - The black-haired man said.

- Maybe I can help - Magnus suggested sadly and used his magic to wake her up. A moment later, the blonde girl took a heavy breath as she woke up.

Magnus helped her sit up and waited for her to speak.

- Please tell me it's not true. That my brother is alive and well - Lizzie said pleadingly to her husband with tears in her eyes and she looked into his. The girl was looking for any sign that it wasn't true.

- I would say that, but he left - Alec said sadly and hugged Lizzie, who was crying louder and louder.

- What do I do now? - Lizzie asked broken and returned his hug. - The child will not know his uncle

Magnus opened a portal to Idris and everyone saw a bright golden glow in the sky as they walked towards lake Lyn.

- No - Lizzie said and she was still shocked by her brother's death, so Alec he was by her side and held her waist with one hand.

- We're too late - Izzy said.

- He resurrected the Angel - Magnus said.

- Magnus, you need to get to safety - Alec said to Magnus.

- We need to find Jace and Clary - Magnus noticed, still hoping that Jace was alive.

The three shadowhunters started running towards Lake Lyn. Once there they saw a dead Valentine and Jace and Clary kissing.

- They're okay - Alec said to his wife.

- Actually, they're more than okay - Izzy noticed with a smile and looked at the still kissing couple.

Jace and Clary moved away , then stood up and looked at their sister, Izzy, Magnus and Alec.

- Jace, I... I thought you were dead. My rune disappeared - Alec said in shock and he looked at Jace.

- Look at her now - Jace told him.

- How? - Alec asked and pulled up his shirt, and the Parabatai rune was on his hip again.

- What? That rune disappeared - Lizzie told him.

- I don't know why it happened - Jace answered, and Lizzie knew that her brother was lying and something happened before she arrived at lake Lyn.

They all looked at Valentine's body that was lying in front of them.

- It's over - Alec told them.

- Yes - Jace said and hugged Alec, then his sister.

- I thought you were dead, and that thought scared me and made me despair - Lizzie said to her brother.

- I didn't mean to scare you - Jace confessed to her and gently stroked her back.

A party was going on at the Hunter's Moon bar. The Underground and Shadowhunters were celebrating Valentine's defeat as Luke opened a bottle of champagne.

- For the Underground - Luke shouted drunk.

- For the Underground - Everyone in the bar shouted.

- For the Shadowhunters! - Luke shouted.

- For the Shadowhunters! - Everyone shouted after him.

- You know, I really wish Max was here - Izzy said to Clary and Lizzie, who were standing in front of her with a glass in their hand.

Lizzie couldn't drink alcohol, so she drank orange juice.

- I know. But the most important thing is that he'll be okay. He has a wonderful family that will take care of him. Me too - Clary told her.

- You know, I grew up surrounded by brothers, who I love with all my heart. But deep down I always wanted to have sisters - Izzy said to them.

- Me too - Clary said with a smile.

Now that Jonathan and Valentine were dead the girl could calmly prepare for her new role - being a mother to her child.

- Hey - Lizzie said to him after they pulled away from each other.

- Yous just adorable - Izzy stated. Despite her initial dislike for Elisabeth Herondale, after some time the black-haired girl liked the blonde girl, because she saw that she made her brother happy and loved him very much.

- Maybe you can name the baby Isabelle - Izzy suggested to her brother and his wife.
