Here is the first chapter of the book of season 3 of the series "Shadowhunters"

s03e01 - "On Infernal Ground"

A month had passed since the defeat of Valentine Morgenstern. Lizzie was already 5 months pregnant and was having difficult negotiations with her husband about the name of their daughter. When Alec found out that he was going to have a daughter Lizzie saw tears in his eyes.

- I stand before my fellow Shadowhunters to receive the rune of the Angel. I take this mark to honor Him. To bring His light into me. To join the ranks of the Shadowhunters, the guardians of peace - Clary said and the Silent Brother drew the angel's rune on Clary's wrist. The red-haired girl looked at Imogen.

- This rune of Angelic Power is well-deserved and long overdue. You are no longer a Shadowhunter in training - Imogen said and Clary looked at her. - You have defeated our greatest enemy. Valentine may have used the Mortal Instruments to raise the Angel Raziel, but you prevented a wish from being granted. Clarissa Fairchild, may your heroism be a shining example to Shadowhunters across the world. Congratulations - Imogen congratulated her.

Everyone started clapping, including Lizzie, who was proud of Clary's transformation - from a normal mundane girl to a Shadowhunter.

After the ceremony was over, Clary approached Lizzie, Izzy, and Alec.

- Congratulations! - Izzy shouted and she hugged her.

- Thank you - Clary told her.

- Congratulations - Lizzie said and hugged Clary.

- How did you feel? - Alec asked her who he wrapped his arms around his wife's waist. The man felt a kick from his daughter who was growing well in his wife's belly.

- Uh... it hurt - Clary replied and looked at her new rune before looking back at them. - No, it was amazing. It's just embarrassing when there are so many people around - Clary stated.

- Don't be embarrassed. You're the hero of Alicante. You stood shoulder to shoulder with Valentin and killed him, so stop being so modest - Izzy told her with a smile. - I'll go find mom - Izzy informed them and touched Lizzie's stomach, then felt her niece kick her. - Bye my warrior - She said to her unborn niece before walking away from them.

- What you did was impressive - Alec said to Clary and removed his hands from his wife's waist to stand next to her.

- But there's more to this story, isn't there? - Lizzie asked her and crossed her arms.

- I told yo everything I know - Clary told them and tried to get past them, but Alec stopped her.

- Really? - Alec asked Clary. - I felt Jace die. He says he has no idea why, but I know he's lying

- Maybe you felt him being impaled. It was pretty serious injury... - Clary tried to explain herself.

- Stop lying Clary my husband's parabatai rune is gone. How do you explain that? - Lizzie asked her.

- I don't know - Clary told her and smiled nervously at them.

- Jace is alive. That's all that matters - Alec told her when he realized he wouldn't get anything out of her.

- Yes - Clary stated and walked away from them.

- Neither Clary nor my brother are telling us anything - Lizzie said to her husband and looked at him.

- Honey sooner or later we'll find out what they're hiding - Alec noticed and kissed her forehead.

- There you are - Lizzie said as she approached her brother who was looking at their parents' graves in the cemetery. Her brother was holding a necklace (a family heirloom) in hands.

- Did something happen? - Jace asked and turned to her.

- No, you just disappeared after Clary's rune ceremony, so I decided to check on my brother - Lizzie told him with a smile.

- That's nice - Jace stated.

- Before I was given the mission to go to the New York Institute, I would come to the cemetery every month to see with my parents - Lizzie confessed sadly, and Jace gently took her hand to support her. - And I often imagined what would have happened if they had lived and you hadn't been kidnapped by Valentine. Maybe we would have had the chance to grow up together or at least Grandma would have raised us together - Lizzie continued.

- It's a shame our parents had to be buried in the cemetery of the dishonored - Jace said sadly when he and Lizzie look at their parents' grave.

- Our parents weren't bad people, Jace. The only mistake they made was trusting Valentine Morgenstern - The blonde girl told him.

- Maybe we should change the subject - Jace suggested. - Have you and Alec come up with a name for my niece? - Jace asked her.

- No, but coming up with a name for her is more like a negotiation, because Alec and I have different ideas for a name - Lizzie answered him.

Lizzie returned from Idris with her husband. The girl immediately changed into a loose black dress below the knee with long sleeves and black suede knee boots with low heels.

The blonde girl entered the office with a coffee in her hand.

- Hey honey - Alec said when he stopped reading the report and looked at his beautiful wife.

- Hey, since you work so hard, I thought I brought you some coffee - Lizzie stated and put the coffee on the desk.

- Have you eaten anything? - Alec asked her. The man made sure that his pregnant wife ate healthy and often and slept a lot.

- Yes, I just finished eating - Lizzie answered him and then sat down on the leather couch.

- I need to talk to you about something - Alec confessed.

- What happened? - Lizzie asked him and he stood up from his chair and closed the door to have some privacy.

- When we were in Idris, I was offered a position on the Council. Delegate under the new consul Jia Penhallow - Alec answered her.

- That's wonderful news - The blonde girl said with a smile. - Your parents must be proud of you

- Actually, I haven't told anyone yet - Alec told her.

- Why? - Lizzie asked him surprised.

- Well, it would mean moving to Idris- Alec answered her and he sat down next to her.

- Isn't that what you've always dreamed of? - The blonde girl asked him. - Idris is beautiful and our daughter could be raised there

- I know you, and I know you'd miss demon hunting and your family - Alec noticed.

- Sweetheart, this is a tough decision you'll have to make on your own, but I'll support you no matter what you choose -Lizzie informed him before kissing him on the lips.

Alec kissed her back and gently pushed her onto the couch. Lizzie put around his neck her hands and continued their kiss, because she knew that once their baby was born, they wouldn't have time for intimate moments alone.

Lizzie fixed her hair and got dressed before leaving her husband's office and heading to the surgery center with her husband.

- First I thought it was purely mundane. Woman's throat slashed with a knife, husband missing. Then I noticed the black capillaries around the wound - Luke informed them, and Lizzie and Alec walked over to the table where brother, Izzy, and Luke stood.

- Hey Lizzie. Pregnancy suits you - Luke said as he looked at Lizzie.

- Hey Luke - Lizzie greeted him and stood next to Alec.

- Was her attacker possessed? - Izzy asked him as Luke showed them a picture from his tablet.

- Most likely - Luke answered her.

- Maybe it has something to do with the Wraith demons that disappeared - Alec noted.

- We'll find out when we take him out. Who's possessed? - Jace asked him.

- His name is Tim Dempsey, he's a pediatric nurse at St. Ambrose Hospital - Luke answered him and showed them a picture of Tim.

- Magnus' friend Catarina works there - Lizzie informed him and joining the conversation. Everyone looked at her

- Why don't you go there and find out something - Luke suggested.

- Okay - Alec told him.

- I'll search his neighborhood - Luke told them, and Alec grabbed his wife's hand and walked away with her. Jace and Izzy followed them.

- Labor? - Jace asked as they walked down the hallways of the hospital.

- Tim Dempsey works on this floor - Alec informed him.

- I need sugar - Izzy announced. - I learned in the meetings that everyone has a different way of dealing with their cravings. Mine is sweets - The girl informed them.

- Sweets? - Alec asked his sister.

- Yes - Izzy answered me. - Would you like anything, Lizzie? - She asked her pregnant sister-in-law Izzy.

- I'll have chocolate - Lizzie replied.

- Careful, this will kill yous - Jace told her as he looked at her and Izzy.

- Dear brother, I'm pregnant with your niece, so technically she wants chocolate - Lizzie noticed and glared at him.

- If anyone knows how to live healthily, it's Jace. He's the one who miraculously came back to life - Alec told him and glanced at him.

- We went through this. I didn't come back to life - Jace told him, but neither Alec nor Lizzie believed him.

- Jace, I'm your sister. I know when you're lying - Lizzie spoke up.

- I don't lie, Lizzie and Alec - Jace told her and it hurt her that her own twin brother was lying to her.

- Please, you three, stop - Izzy admonished them.

The four shadowhunters approached the reception desk where Catarina was waiting for them.

- Elisabeth and Jonathan Herondale, it's nice to finally meet you. You've remind me a lot of your parents - Catarina said and she looked at Jace then Lizzie and her pregnant belly. - Congratulations on your pregnancy- She congratulated Alec and Lizzie.

- Thank you- Lizzie said with a smile. - Will you tell us about Tim?

- Tim is a saint. He really is. That guy brings his guitar every Tuesday to sing to the kids- Catarina told her, watched them.

- Did you notice any changes in his behavior yesterday?- Izzy asked her.

- We're trying to establish a timeline of when the possession could have happened- Jace explained.

- No, he was in perfect shape. Of all people, why would a demon possess Tim?- Catarina asked them.

- I don't know - Lizzie replied after the three other shadowhunters didn't know what to answer her.

Izzy walked away and went to the candy machine.

- How is Magnus feeling? - Catarina asked Alec and Lizzie.

- Well, great. Why? - Alec asked her worriedly.

- I was really worried about him. When we talked last night, he was beside himself. Being the High Warlock meant everything to him - Catarina answered him.

- Really? That's not what he told me - Alec confessed.

A moment later Izzy came and gave Lizzie the chocolate.

- Thanks - Lizzie thanked Izzy. - What took you so long? - She asked her after a moment blonde girl.

- Problem with the machine - Izzy answered her and then ate candys to avoid the topic.

- Let's say I believe you - Lizzie told her and started eating the chocolate.

- We're going back to the Institute, honey - Alec said and put one arm around his wife's waist.

- Good, I hate the smell of the hospital - The blonde girl told him as they started to leave the hospital.

- So, did you accept the position on the Council? - Lizzie asked him while she and her husband were on a date at a fancy restaurant. The girl stopped reading the menu.

- Not yet - Alec answered her and looked at her. - But I told Aline I'd let her know tomorrow

- I don't want to influence your decision, but I don't want to move to Idris - Lizzie told him. - I know it's selfish, but it's the truth

- Why didn't you tell me earlier? - Alec asked her.

- Because this position on the council is an opportunity for you, and idon't like you're going to lose it because of me - Lizzie confessed and placed her hand on his.

- Honey, I only care about how you feel and I want you to be happy - He told her and kissed her on the lips. - Because you're my wife and our daughter will be born soon

- Maybe we order something, your daughter is demanding food - Lizzie suggested.

- Everything for my girls - Alec said with a smile.

Lizzie and Alec spent a nice evening together and for a moment they forgot about troubles.
