Jace, Lizzie and Clary were still in Valentine's old hideout after Simon was kidnapped by Valentine and dragged through the Portal. Clary started to panic a lot, which wasn't surprising since her psychopathic father had kidnapped her boyfriend.

- Clary, we can't panic - Jace said to Clary.

- He's a psychopath, capable of anything - Clary noted angrily. - Simon is innocent in all of this. Valentine only took him prisoner because I care about him - Clary dramatized, and Luke entered the room.

- Hey. All the prisoners are either dead or gone. No sign of Cleophas - Luke confessed sadly.

- Hey, everything's gonna be okay - Jace said and hugged her to comfort her.

Suddenly Clary's phone started ringing, and she moved away from her brother and pulled her phone out of her jacket pocket.

- Who's calling? - Lizzie asked when she looked at Clary. The girl was very worried about her husband and unborn child.

- Simon - Clary answered and her voice was full of nervousness and fear.

- Answer it, Clary - Lizzie said and she answered.

Everyone was horrified by the sight of Simon tied to a chair, with tape over his mouth. Their anxiety increased when Valentine appeared on the screen.

- No - Clary said.

- Hello Clarissa, hello Elisabeth - Valentine greeted with the girls. - I would like us to talk in more civilized circumstances, but I'm afraid I've run out of options

- Let Simon go - Clary demanded.

- Absolutely. As soon as you or Elisabeth return to the Institute. One of You have to activate the Soul Sword for me - Valentine stated.

- That will never happen - Lizzie said, who couldn't let Valentine activate the Soul Sword.

Clary wanted to go, but Luke stopped her, while Lizzie tried to call to Alec.

- This is exactly what Valentine wants. You know that if you touch this sword, you can destroy the entire Underground, including Simon? - Luke asked her and he looked at her.

Lizzie was still trying to reach her husband.

- Is everything okay? - Jace asked when saw the worry on Lizzie's face.

- No, my husband doesn't answer my phone - Lizzie replied nervously.

- You don't know that Jace. The Circle Members can capture him and hand him over to Valentine or worse kill him - Lizzie said nervously.

- Calm down Lizzie, Alec is a strong and trained Shadowhunter, so I'm sure he'll be able to handle the Circle Members - Jace said calmly before they approached Clary and Luke. - Alec isn't answering. Let's go - The blonde man informed them.

- Valentine will regret raising a hand against Simon. I will see to that - Clary said pissed off and tried to leave again, but Luke stopped her again.

- Wow. You will not go near this Institute - Luke said. - We are taking you and Lizzie to Magnus. He can protect you - Luke said.

- No. I do not need protection. I have to save Simon - Clary said increasingly irritated.

- The Underground knows that you are the key to activating the Sword. They want you dead - Luke noticed. The man wanted to protect Jocelyn's daughter.

A few minutes later, the group brought Dot to Magnus. Magnus healed the witch, and Jace, Luke, and Clary had a conversation with her (or rather, argued with her) while Lizzie watched through the window.

- A star in the sky - Magnus said and looked at them.

- Yes, I remember - Clary said.

- Angels are higher beings. They communicate through metaphors. Morgenstern means "Morning Star", as in the line: "How you fell from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning". The vision seems to speak of... the demonic Morgenstern - Magnus explained to them, and all the attention in the room focused on Jace.

Magnus looked out at the New York skyline as Clary stepped onto the balcony.

Clary and Magnus looked at the screen and saw Simon and Valentine.

- Oh my God! Simon, are you okay? - Clary asked panicking.

Scared Clary covered her mouth and Magnus looked away.

- Transfer me to the Institute - Clary ordered and started walking.

- Clary, we can't - Magnus tried to convince her, but Clary turned to him full of anger.

- Why the hell are you shouting Clary? - Lizzie asked sleepily when she looked at Clary.

- Valentine slit Simon's throat, so if Clary doesn't show up at the Institute and give him her blood, her boyfriend will die - Magnus explained to Lizzie, and she stood up and stood in front of Clary.

Magnus opened the Portal and the three of them landed in a nearby park near the Institute.

Then two vampires grabbed Magnus and Lizzie from behind.

- Let go of my hands you stupid bloodsuckers! - Lizzie shouted and tried to free herself from their grip of vampires, but they were stronger.

- So that you can use your magic against us? I'm sorry Magnus, none of us wanted this to happed - Raphael stated.

- No. I'm here to save Simon. I won't touch the Sword - Clary tried to convince him.

- No, you won't - Raphael said and he walked up to her, and later grabbed her wrists.

- Stop. Stop this now! - Magnus shouted.

- If I don't, the more Downworlders will do it for me. You're too close to her, Magnus - Raphael said to Magnus.

- Raphael, you don't have to do this - Clary said pleadingly to the vampire. However, Lizzie knew that for any species to survive, someone had to be sacrificed (in this case, Clary).

At the same moment Luke approached the vampires from behind and pulling them away from Magnus and Lizzie.

Raphael looked at Maya, who nodded yes before looking back at Jace.

- What exactly is your plan? - The vampire asked her.

Jace pretended to be Clary while Magnus, Lizzie, and Clary entered the Institute, then walked through the deserted hallways. Both girls walked with seraph blades in their hands.

- In the video, Simon is in Aldertree's office. This way - Clary said, and pointed towards the hallway leading to the headmaster's office.

- Both of you, watch out. The Circle members could be anywhere - Magnus stated and stopped them.

The lights began to flicker and Lizzie discreetly looked around the hallway. It wasn't a moment before she saw Madzie.

- It's Madzie - Lizzie whispered to Magnus and Clary.

- You go get her. Me and Lizzie will find Simon - Clary said as Madzie left.

- Are you sure? - Magnus asked her.

- She's being used, Magnus. None of this is her fault, but she needs to be stopped - Lizzie noticed.

- I'll meet you and Lizzie at Aldertree's office - Magnus informed them.

- Okay - Clary told him before they separated.

Clary and Lizzie were walking to the Operations Center when a Circle Member attacked them from behind. Lizzie fought him and stabbed him in the stomach with her seraph blade while Clary killed another Circle Member who ran up to her.

- Hey, let me go! - Clary screamed as other Circle Members grabbed them from behind, ripped the seraph blades from their hands, and threw them to the floor.

- Let me go! - Lizzie shouted angrily when she tried to get out of their grip.

- No! Let me go! - Clary shouted as Valentine dragged her and Lizzie towards the Sword.

- You can't make us do this. Neither I nor Clary will do this! - Lizzie shouted.

- Unfortunately, you don't get to decide that. I'm doing this for you, Elisabeth, for your brother, and for the rest of humanity. Clarissa, Elisabeth this planet is under siege by demonic creatures who want death and destruction. Once I take this Sword, the Underworld will no longer be a part of our world. And the lives of my children... will be much safer - Valentine stated, and Clary was struggling from his hand.

- Elisabeth, please - Valentine told her and put Lizzie's hand near the Soul Sword. Then Simon ran up behind them and knocked them to the floor. Then he killed both Circle Members with dagger.

Lizzie was careful not to fall on her stomach, so as not to harm her unborn child that she was carrying inside her.

- Lizzie, are you okay? - Simon asked when he ran to her and then helped her up.

- I'm fine. Let's go - Lizzie stated to Clary and Simon and they started to leave. Suddenly Jace entered the operations center.

- Jace... what are you doing? - Clary asked him and Jace walked up to the Soul Sword and lowered his seraph blade. - Jace, don't do this. If you touch the Sword, I'll kill you. - Clary pleaded with her brother as Jace turned to her. - Jace, don't do this! No, Jace! - The redheaded girl panicked and Jace pulled the Soul Sword out of its power core and then fell to the floor after being struck by lightning.

In the process, the Sword also fell to the floor.

- Why didn't that destroy the Sword? - Clary asked.

- I don't know - Simon replied.

- Jace, are you okay? - Lizzie asked with concern and was horrified when she saw Valentine get up and walk to the Sword.

- You're predictable, son - Valentine said to Jace and lifted the Sword from the floor as an army of Seelies, vampires, and werewolves charged into the Institute. Valentine lifted the Sword even higher, and light flashed throughout the room. Clary and Lizzie shielded Simon, and the group of the Downworlders screamed in pain.

- Oh my God - Clary said when she saw the dead Downworlders on the floor. Simon stood up next to her. - Simon, are you okay

- How? All the other the Downworlders here, they... They're all dead - Simon said in shock.

- I don't know. I just pray the adamas in the walls stops the explosion - Lizzie told him and looked at them.

- Where's Valentine? - Simon asked as he noticed Valentine wasn't there.

- He's gone - Clary noted, and then Jace regained consciousness and sat up.

- Jace - Lizzie said and immediately ran to her brother-in-law to help him up stood.

- I don't understand. How did I activate the Sword? - Jace asked still dazed and looked at the dead the Downworlders.

- Only someone with pure angel blood could do that - Clary said.

- You don't have demon blood in you, Jace - Lizzie realized out loud and Jace he turned to face Clary and Lizzie.

Suddenly Alec ran into the Operations Center and looked at them all.

- No. You did it. You activated the Sword? One of you? - Alec asked Lizzie and Clary and felt relief when he saw his beloved Lizzie.

- No... - Clary started to say.

- I did it. I thought I was destroying it, Alec - Jace confessed guiltily as he looked at Alec.

- Good thing you're okay - Alec said to Lizzie and took a few steps towards her and just hugged her.

Clary and Jace left them alone and went to look for Valentine to stop him from doing more damage.

An hour had passed since the tragic events. Valentine was captured and put in a cell, and the Soul Sword disappeared under mysterious circumstances.

Lizzie took a relaxing bath with her husband, and then changed into a blue bathrobe. When Alec left the bathroom, the girl felt nauseous and vomited into the toilet.

- Is everything okay? - Alec asked his wife when she came out of the bathroom. The girl had bags under her eyes and a pale face.

- Yes - Lizzie answered and sat on the edge of the bed. - But I have to tell you something. I hope this news will please you - The blonde girl confessed nervously.

- Did something happen? - Alec asked, and concern appeared on his face.

- Yes, but it's nothing bad - Lizzie tried to calm her husband. - I'm pregnant - Lizzie answered after taking a breath and exhaling.
