Lizzie was currently in the doctor's office and watching as the gynecologist applied a cold, clear gel to her flat stomach, and then began to do an ultrasound on her.

The day before, the blonde girl had taken a pregnancy test and the result was positive. However, she wanted to make sure it was true (because a pregnancy test doesn't always indicate a good result), so she made an appointment with the gynecologist as soon as possible. The girl knew that her husband wanted a child and she preferred not to tell him about her (possible) pregnancy until the gynecologist this confirmed it.

The gynecologist looked at the screen before speaking to Lizzie.

- Congratulations, you're pregnant - The gynecologist said with a smile as he looked at Lizzie. The girl's gaze was fixed on the screen where she saw her baby the size of a veggetable.

- What week is it? - She asked happily, but also stunned by Lizzie's information.

- It's is week 8 - The gynecologist replied and handed her a paper towel. Lizzie wiped the gel from her belly and straightened her blouse before getting up and sitting in the chair in front of the gynecologist's desk. - You are currently 8 weeks pregnant, so you need to avoid stress, eat healthy and rest - He informed her after a moment. - For now, I will prescribe you vitamins that you should take in the first trimester of pregnancy

- Good - Lizzie stated, but she knew that afraid that avoiding stress was impossible when Valentine was threatening her and her loved ones.

- This is an ultrasound photo of your child - The man said, and Lizzie took the photo and looked at it. Lizzie immediately felt love for her unborn child. - See you in a month - The gynecologist said, and Lizzie got up from the chair.

And as she was leaving the office, Jace called her. The girl didn't know why he was calling her, but she felt it was something bad.

- Hey Lizzie, did I interrupt you in something? - Jace asked from the other end of the phone.

- No - Lizzie replied and hid her irritation caused by pregnancy hormones. - But I have a feeling it's about Clary

- You're right - Jace confessed. - Clary made a deal with Iris Rouse, and now if Clary doesn't find Madzie, she'll die.

- Only Clary is foolhardy enough to make a deadly deal with a witch - Lizzie noted.

- I know, but you have to help. We are in Jade Wolf - Jace stated.

- Okay, I'll be there in a few minutes - Lizzie said resignedly and hung up.

Lizzie was walking to Jade Wolf when she saw Clary fighting with a wolf. The girl immediately rushed to her rescue, but with caution so as not to hurt her unborn child.

- Do you always have to be saved? - Lizzie asked Clary with resentment and gently pushed her aside. The blonde girl picked up a nearby oar and hit the wolf with it, when a moment later fell into the garbage can.

Then Jace appeared and stopped next to Clary.

- Nice hit - Jace stated when he looked at his sister-in-law.

- I know - Lizzie said with a smile and pulled out her seraph blade. - Show yourself if you don't want to get hit even more - Lizzie said with a raised voice.

Then the three shadowhunters saw the naked Maia behind the baskets.

Luke and Simon were talking to Maia while Lizzie was listening to the conversation between Jace and Clary.

- Are you okay? - Jace asked and he looked at Clary's charred hand.

- I can feel it spreading. What if Maia's right? - Clary asked painfully when she held her injured hand.

- There aren't. You have to find Madzie - Luke said as he and Simon walked up to them.

- No problem. We'll take the van - Simon stated.

- Luke? - Clary asked as she noticed her adoptive father wasn't following her.

- I have to stay here. If Maia told the rest of the wolves about the Soul Sword, you and Clary are in serious danger - Luke stated as he looked at Clary.

- Not many people know that I can activate the Soul Sword - Lizzie noticed when she walked over to Luke and Clary.

- But... - Clary started to protest but Luke interrupted her.

- There's no time for arguments. News travels fast. I'll catch up to you once I'm sure the Downworlders aren't after you - Luke said and Clary hugged him. - I'll see you soon, kid - Luke whispered to Clary before she left with Jace, Simon, and Lizzie.

The girl got into her boyfriend's van, and Luke stopped Lizzie, Jace, and Simon.

- Hey, if anything happens to her- - Luke started to say but Jace interrupted him.

- It won't. Trust me, I'll protect her - Jace said honestly.

- We will protect her - Simon corrected him, and Lizzie laughed at his words.

- I wonder if you can fight or if you just suck blood and avoid the sun - Lizzie stated snidely before getting into the van.

- Don't fall behind - Jace told Simon and patted him on the shoulder.

- Are you sure this is the park? - Clary asked as she, Jace and Lizzie walked through the park.

- Yeah. See that burnt grass? - Jace asked Clary and pointed to the burnt grass. - Someone opened a Portal - The blonde man explained and Simon ran up to them.

- There's nothing out there, and without the wolves to help us pick up a scent. This is gonna take forever - Simon said when he ran clumsily toward them.

- We don't have forever - Lizzie pointed out with irritation. - Everyone keep looking - The blonde girl ordered them.

- Maybe he can help - Simon said to them mysteriously and ran up to the homeless man sitting on a bench. - I'm sorry, uh... a little girl might have been kidnapped here a few days ago. I was wondering if you seen her - Simon asked the homeless man.

Lizzie, Jace and Clary walked up to him.

- I don't know what you're talking about - The homeless man stated and he looked at Simon.

- Are you sure? - Clary asked him. - She's about this tall, pigtails, always wears a scarf like this one - Clary said and she gestured with her hands.

- Hey, where did you get that scarf? - Lizzie asked him when she saw the light blue scarf in the front pocket of the man's jacket.

- Out of nowhere. I found it, it's mine - The homeless man said nervously.

- Want to trade? - Simon asked and pointed at Jace's jacket.

- What? - Jace asked in shock.

- Keep heading north - Jace ordered wherehe sat in the passenger seat and tracked Madzie with the scarf in his hands. - The signal is weak, but we can still track her

- Don't sound too excited - Simon said when he drove his van.

- It's too easy - Jace said.

- It wasn't easy. That jacket is at least two sizes too small for that guy. I'm just a great salesman - Simon said proudly.

- I hate to say it Simon, but Valentine is too smart not to block the signal - Lizzie stated suspiciously. - So the only reason we can track Madzie is because he set a trap for us

- What are you suggesting? That we don't look for Madzie? - Simon asked.

- I didn't say that - Lizzie explained and took three breaths in and out so as not to yell at Simon.

- Simon's right - Clary agreed with Simon, which was obvious since he was her boyfriend. - Trap or not, that scarf is our only lead right now. I can't let Valentine activate the soul sword. Whatever happens, you can't let Valentine take me alive - She told Jace, Simon and Lizzie.

- Uh...Clary, you're kind of scaring me - Simon said when he looked at her through the rearview mirror.

- I thought about it and... Maia's right - Clary stated.

- What... what are you talking about? - Simon stuttered.

- I'd rather die than let Valentine destroy the Underground - Clary stated. - You have to promise me this. If Valentine ever gets to me - Clary continued, but Simon interrupted her in panic.

- No. Absolutely not - Simon said.

- I promise. If it ever comes to that, I won't let him take you alive - Jace said and looked at his sister.

Jace, Lizzie, and Simon got out of the van.

- Stay here. We'll be right back. - Jace said to Clary, before they walked a few meters away from her.

- Are you sure we're safe here? - Simon asked.

- We're close. Very close. - Jace said and looked at his sister-in-law and the vampire. - This still seems too easy.

- And there are still no traps. - Simon said and he looked at Jace. - Although if we came across it, everything you said about Clary... - The panicked vampire continued, and Lizzie tightened the belt of her coat. - You were just talking, right? You wouldn't kill your sister, would you? - Simon asked.

- No. That's why I have to do this myself. - Jace replied.

- Jace, what are you planning? - Lizzie spoke up worriedly.

- Clary's too weak to move, Lizzie. She'd only put herself in danger of getting caught - The blonde man pointed out to Lizzie before turning to Simon as well. - Hey, I'll use the scarf to track Madzie down, bring her with back. But... I need someone to protect Clary while I'm gone

- Easy for you to say. You and Lizzie have weapons and can fight well - Simon said when he looked at the two shadowhunters in front of him. - What can I do, protect her with my teeth? - Simon asked. - We need your help - The vampire said desperately.

- Fine, I'll stay - The blonde man stated as Simon's phone started ringing.

The vampire walked away from Jace and Lizzie.

- I know you're lying and you're going to run away - Lizzie said to Jace and looked at him with her arms crossed.

- I have to find Valentine, and you can't come with me - The blond informed her. - Because you have to protect Clary, and I doubt Simon will be able to do that - Jace whispered to her after a moment.

- Fine, I'll stay with him, but if Simon starts talking too much, I'll drive a stake through his heart - Lizzie warned Jace, a little irritated.

- Just do it without witnesses - Jace said jokingly, before running away.

- Where's Jace? - Simon asked Lizzie when he saw that Jace was gone.

- I don't know - Lizzie lied when she looked at Simon. The girl didn't like Clary's boyfriend, so she hid Jace from him.

- Fine. You'll do it - Simon said to himself and saw that Lizzie was looking at him like he was crazy.

- Stop talking to yourself, someone will think you're mentally ill - Lizzie said spitefully and leaned against the wall.

- Can you be a little nicer? - Simon asked naively, and a malicious smile appeared on Lizzie's face.

- That would be boring - Lizzie stated and stopped listening to his chatter.

Lizzie was leaning against a nearby wall of the building and looking at Simon, who was sitting on the roof of his van, and Clary was in his arms.

The blonde girl knew that Clary was dying and it made her sad. She might not like the redhead girl, but that didn't mean she wanted her dead.

- Clary, don't fall asleep - Simon said, and his voice began to break. - Don't fall asleep. Hold on a little longer, don't leave - The vampire whispered to Clary, as her eyes were closing and she was breathing heavily.

- Hey, don't cry - Clary said and with the last of her strength she covered his face with her hands.

- I'm not crying. This, allergies. You know me. Ambrosia - Simon said and looked at Clary.

- Clary! - Jace shouted and Lizzie looked at him and went closer to him.

- Jace! - Simon shouted and he helped Clary off the van. He then picked her up and carried her toward Madzie and Jace.

- Madzie. Madzie, you're okay - Clary said to Madzie and she hugged her.

Jace, Clary and Simon moved away as Madzie placed her hands on the red-haired girl's shoulders. Clary and Madzie were surrounded by a red wave of magic and the Clary burned body began to heal.

- I wouldn't have saved her without you - Jace said to Simon.

- Of course. Thank you for... you know, everything - Simon said and Madzie started to open the Portal.

- Madzie, what are you doing? - Clary asked before looking at Jace, Simon and Lizzie.

- No! - Jace shouted.

- Clary! - Simon shouted with Lizzie at the same time. The three of them ran towards them but they were too late as Madzie pulled herself and Clary through the Portal.

Jace, Simon, Luke and Lizzie entered the abandoned amusement park where Valentine, Clary and Madzie were supposed to be. Before they got there they witnessed Downworlders attacking humans

- I know it's an abandoned building, but it seems a bit too abandoned to me - Simon said as he looked around.

- We're late? - Lizzie asked and held her seraph blade close to her.

- No. The smell is fresh. Someone's here, we need to hurry - Luke replied and looked at Jace, Simon and then at Lizzie.

- Let's split up, check out as much of the area as possible - Jace said before everyone went in different directions.

- Jace! Lizzie - Clary called when she turned around and saw Lizzie and Jace running towards her.

- Clary! Where's Valentine? - Jace asked.

- I don't know. All the members of the circle left in a hurry - Clary replied.

- Okay. Don't move - Lizzie said to Clary and broke the chain with her seraph blade.

- Okay, we have to get out of here before Valen.. - Clary said but stopped when Valentine and Madzie walked towards them.

- Are you going somewhere? - Valentine asked as he looked at Clary and then at Lizzie. - Good to see you Elisabeth - The man turned to the blonde girl, and Jace ran towards him to attack him.

- Not you - Lizzie stated.

But Madzie stopped him with her magic.

- Jace! - Lizzie and Clary shouted at the same time.

- That's what I thought. She's strong for her age, right? - Valentine asked.

- Madzie - Clary said when she walked up to the little girl and knelt down in front of her. - Please let Jace go

- And why would she do that? - Valentine asked and he looked at his daughter.

- Because you want to hurt people. People like Iris - Clary replied and looked at Madzie.

- Don't forget that she's the vile person that got your nanny in trouble - Valentine said to Madzie. - Now if you want to see Iris, you have to be a good girl and do exactly as I say, okay? - Valentine asked before Simon came in and started beating Valentine.

- Clary run! - Simon shouted as Valentine punched him and grabbed him by the neck and head.

Lizzie feared that Valentine was capable of breaking Clary's boyfriend's neck.

- Brave and stupid - Valentine said. - Honey, save your magic for what's to come. Time to go - The man turned to Madzie as she opened the portal. - See you Clarissa and Elisabeth

Valentine entered the portal with Simon, and Madzie followed him.

- Simon! Simon, no! - Clary screamed and tried to run towards the portal, but Lizzie stopped her and grabbing her wrist.

- Why didn't you let me run after Simon? - The red-haired girl asked with a grudge when she looked at Lizzie.

- Because if you did, Valentine would activate the Soul Sword with your help and kill many Downworlders - Lizzie replied.

- But Valentine has my boyfriend and he can kill him - Clary said worriedly and calmed down a bit.

- Clary we will save Simon, but in another way - Lizzie said calmly and Clary hugged her.

Strangely enough, Lizzie didn't push Clary away, hugged her - she blamed it on pregnancy hormones.
