The Blood Moon hung low in the sky, a cruel witness to fate's design. It painted the earth in deep crimson, its glow pooling over the ruins of a moment that should never have come to pass.
Taehyung had seen this before.
In the book. In his nightmares.
The prophecy had been inked in pages older than time, written by hands that had long turned to dust.
The moon would bathe the world in crimson.
The ground would drink from her sacrifice.
And TaehyungβTaehyung would be left behind, forced to exist in a world where Jungkook no longer did.
He had spent countless nights with that damned book, fingers tracing over the ancient words, lips forming prayers he didn't believe in, hopingβbeggingβthat he had misread them.
But the words had never changed.
"Alara will fall so you may live."
Now, it was real.
Jungkook lay still against the earth, draped in white, as if the heavens themselves had dressed her for this moment.
Beauty in white, tragedy in white.
Her dark hair spread around her like spilled ink, a cruel contrast to the red seeping from her still body, a crimson bloom unfurling across the fabric of her dress.
Her fingersβthose same fingers that had once curled in his hair, traced the lines of his palm, clutched onto him as if he was her anchorβlay cold, open, unheld.
Taehyung's hands shook as they pressed against the wound, his palm slick with the blood that should never have left her body. His breaths came too fast, too shallow, his vision blurred with something hot and stinging.
A gust of wind lifted the edges of Jungkook's dress, white fabric fluttering like a ghost of what once was.
Taehyung swallowed, his throat raw. His hands trembled as they cupped her face.
"Love," he rasped. "Wake up, Mrs Kim."
But she didn't. She couldn't.
"No," his voice broke. "No, no, noβJungkook."
Taehyung had seen her fight against fate a thousand times. With her sharp words, with her defiance, with the fire in her eyes that had never waveredβnot even in the face of death itself.
But nowβ
Now, she was silent.
The earth beneath them remained still. The unforgiving moon continued to glow.
And Jungkookβhis Jungkookβremained lifeless in his arms.
β¦
Steel clashed. Magic roared. The ground trembled beneath the weight of something far greater than mortals could comprehend.
And in the middle of it all, Taehyung stoodβhis eyes red, his hands steady, his heart shattered.
"If the universe thinks I'll let her goβ"
He raised his sword.
"It has made the worst mistake of all."
β¦
"If death is the only way, then I will die with you."
The moon weeps in silence, but the stars do not mourn.
They have seen this beforeβlovers lost to fate, hearts carved into promises they cannot keep.
Love is a foolish thing.
A fool's gamble. A lie wrapped in hope.
A debt written in devotion, paid in suffering.
And nowβnow the debt is due.
