After a couple of hours, I couldn't help but to feel this incredibly fuzzy feeling inside my stomach. I couldn't shake it, I haven't felt happiness in such a long time. After Johnny surprised me this morning I started to look at things a bit different. I always believed everything that I've done came with consequences. Getting this disease was the consequence to saving a life. But do I regret it? Fuck no.
I'm not a saint, I'm no different from a murderer. But I did it with a code. I wouldn't kill someone that has never wronged me. Ever since I've met Jackie Welles, he's stood by my side. We both were cold in the begging. But it seemed like when we both started to understand each other, we became different. I was a cocky thief who didn't give a care who I took from. And for that I regret it.ย
I sat there on the couch and felt my eyes get heavy after watching a couple movies. It was inevitable how much longer I could stay awake. I didn't want to fight it, I needed the rest.ย
*Creak*
A loud creak came from the opposite side of the room. My heart refused to calm itself down. My head shot up. I slowly got up and grabbed my gun off the coffee table. With causion, I slowly started to investigate. I could barely see, I was practically blind. I hit the light switch, patiently waiting for the light to turn on. But no one waits this long, whoever was here must of cut the power.
Alright, fighting in the darkness, something I loved...
Then my eyes gazed upon a black silhouette in the corner of the room, whoever this was, was the size of a man. He was crouched near my nightstand... I slowly crept over to the opposite side of my bed, with stealth I carefully watched what the person was up to. He was trying to break into the safe, that the flathead was stored in. I crept quietly behind the man and grabbed onto his hair and pressed the gun against his head. He thrashed around.
"Easy, unless you want me to pursue what my rules are on trespassing." I growled, the person became obedient and slowly stood up, raising his hands up. He dropped stethoscope while doing so.
"Turn slowly." I ordered.
"You're making a big mistake, Ronin." The voice impatiently replied.ย
My body froze while he slowly rotated. "The hell I am. You took the chance by attempting an armed robbery." I yanked the gun away from his belt line.
"Your not going to pull the trigger, I know you." The mysterious man said. My jaw locked and it was like I was looking down a narrow tunnel.
"Well you don't know me a well-" I felt a hard impact to the chest. A blade extended from his sleeves, electricity stunned me in the chest. I felt myself smash into the T-V that was on the wall.
The small shelf crushed with the weight of my impact. Both guns slipped from my grasp and slid away from my reach.
"Fuck." I growled, propping myself up with my elbows. Within a few seconds the safe cracked open. I leaped over my bed and tackled him against the nightstand. The case he held was tossed across the room
'Error.' My biomon repeated with glowing red letters.
"Haven't gave up?" The man joked as he struggled. I held him down, blocking each of his punches. His forehead smashed against my nose. With a rough shove he tossed me off of him. I felt thick, hot, crimson leak from my nose.ย
My nose rubbed against the sheets of my bed. The man took off in a flash after the flathead. I lunged off of my bed and jumped onto his back. He gripped his metal nails into the flesh of my skin, while he tried to shake me off of him. He leaned forward, using all of his strength to flip me.
ย My back split the glass table into shards of glass. I felt a deep sugre of pain sink in. I snapped a long, sharp, shard of glass from the table. I felt it split a thin layer of skin in my palms. Blood trickled down my palms.
"Give that back." I said weakly, taking the stand that he wasn't going to leave with that flathead.
"You don't get it do you? This is all for Dexter, he doesn't give a shit about you-"
"Fuck you, whoever talks about my boss is getting a bit too personal." I lunged at him once again, this time taking him down with a football tackle. In my mind I was praising Wyatt for teaching me how to properly tackle someone.
The case slid across the flooring. The piece of glass I gripped onto, hovered over his throat. He kept caution on his breathing. One small slip up could scar him or even kill him if its not repairable.
"Wait, wait!" He begged.
"Why should I? You trashed my place up and tried to steal from me!" I hollered.
He reached for his arm and typed a couple codes in. I swatted his hand, as the power turned back on for the entire apartment. I sighed in relief when he wasn't activating a bomb.
"Because I'm only doing this for the greater good." The man whispered. The man was quite handsome. He had mysterious and encrypted secrets within his cold eyes. He had a sharp jawline, and bloody-red hair.
He wore a black t-shirt, a leather jacket with grey fur, and tight, leather pants.
"What? Your saying breaking in to my place is for the greater good?! How the hell did you get in here?" I questioned with an upset growl. I was aggravated at how much it was going to cost to fix up the room.ย
"Yes..." He answered simply.
I tossed the glass shard across the room. And got off of him.
I sighed deeply, crossing my arms, "Let me guess, this is for a girl?"
"This isn't for any girl..."
"Then who?" I questioned with an aggravated whine.
"Scarlett Riddle. I'm trying to gain a pass into the toughest gang in this city-" I interrupted him from finishing, I reconized the voice. The man stood up from the ground. He was a couple inches taller then I was. He was muscular and lean, extremely attractive. But I wasn't going to fall for him.
"Hold it there, love bird. Your not taking the flathead even if its for Scarlett. I already have a connection with her. Just for smashing my place up, I'm going to send you packing without dialing her up about this. Now get the hell out!" I hollered in fury, my fingers curled into my palms, forming into a tight fist. I felt something heavy press against my shoulder.
"She's right, punk." A deep voice said from behind me. I turned my head and noticed it was Johnny and his rifle.
"It's Alex, Alex Night-"
"I don't give a shit who you are." Johnny implied motioning him to leave.
Once again I felt time freeze, everything started to make sense. Alex Night was the man that called me that night to 'save' his sister. I didn't want to discuss or argue any further with Alex. Alex has already done enough for tonight that I'm convinced he'll do this to others.
"How long have you been standing there?" I awkwardly questioned Johnny.
"Not long enough." Johnny replied with a cold tone. Alex slowly backed up towards the smashed window he got in, just by cutting through. He just leaned back and allowed gravity to take him. Johnny ran towards the window, and searched for him. I followed over to him, and Alex was gone... Just like that... like a magician's trick.
"You alright?" Johnny questioned in concern.
"I'm fine. Nothing I can't handle." I admitted, red thunder struck within the cloud of red smog, within the sky. It sparked towards the massive Skyscraper, Arasaka tower.
"You can't lie to me, Ronin. Your place is smashed up and you were thrown across the room, smashed into your own T.V, and coffee table. If you were fine, the place wouldn't be wrecked." Johnny explained with deep detail. How did he predict exactly what happen?
"How do you know what happened? You weren't there until the end." I sighed deeply.
"My biomon is a bit older then yours. It auto generates a brain dance to whoever I chose to think about." He answered, keeping his gaze away from me and towards Arasaka tower.
I smirked, "A brain dance?"
Johnny chuckled, "Get your mind out of the gutter. A brain dance is escaping this reality and seeing someone else reality, like current memories, almost like a recording. It triggered when I was in my vehicle. All I could see was him flipping you onto the coffee table. He didn't..." Johnny trailed off. Finally giving me a stern look.
"No, he didn't do anything-"
"-Yet." Johnny finished my sentence.
"So...You're my guardian angel now?" I joked.
"No. I'm the storm that washes up when you make a deal with the devil." Johnny confidently said, crossing his arms with pride.
"If you were kidding about that-"
"I'm not joking. It's like a curse." Johnny continued with the joke. A small smirk curled up from the corner of my lip.
"Whatever you say, Johnny." I rolled my eyes...
We stood there in silence for a couple of moments, staring at the Arasaka tower. How red electricity was pulled towards the tower. It made Night City look more dystopian. I started to imagine what kind of power the sparks of red electricity was.
I doubt electricity followed a code...
"Here." Johnny suggested, holding out a black translucent cared that had neon blue outlining.
I took the card and examined it for a moment. "Why don't you go stay somewhere nice, until we can get your shitty apartment fixed." Johnny said referring to that everything was nearly smashed up.
His hand rested onto my shoulder, his touch was gentle, but cold.
"I can't allow you to give me this life, Johnny-"
"Just fuck'n consider it from a friend." Johnny snapped, I chuckled at his response.
I felt a fuzzy feeling rise up from my stomach and into my chest. "Thanks Johnny." I replied. I always felt horrible when others gave me something, I felt as if I needed to repay them back.
"Don't mention it." Johnny replied with a casual voice. My phone started to buzz. dug through my pocket and answered.
"Ronin, we have a big problem." I heard Wyatt's voice panic. Both Johnny and I locked eyes, when we both heard Wyatt. Judging on how many times Wyatt doesn't react like this gives me the clue this was something big.
