Come on, don't be shy

"Valentine's Day is tomorrow!"
โ๐๐ธ๐๐ป and Draculaura sprinted through the halls, their eyes shimmering with love and devotion. For a moment, it seemed as though fate was pulling them toward each other, their steps perfectly in sync as they ran closer. Their friends held their breath, hoping the spell had finally broken.
But just as they were about to meet in the middle, they ran right past each other without a second glance.
Draculaura beelined straight for Valentine, her face glowing with adoration as she clung to his arm. Meanwhile, Clawd skidded to a stop in front of Cupid, gazing at her with a love-struck expression.
"And as for Clawd and Draculaura they were madly in love with the wrong monsters!"
Draculaura rushed into Valentine's arms, melting into his embrace as he wrapped her securely against him. He smirked, gently caressing her cheek with his fingers, his touch sending a dreamy sigh past her lips. She gazed up at him with nothing but devotion, utterly lost in the spell that bound her heart. Meanwhile, across the hall, Cupid grunted in frustration as she struggled with her stubborn locker, tugging at the handle that refused to budge. Before she could try again, Clawd suddenly stepped beside her, placing a steadying hand on her shoulder and effortlessly moving her aside. With one swift motion, he knocked the locker open with his fist, the door swinging free.
Cupid gasped in surprise, watching as Clawd wordlessly took her books and placed them inside for her, his actions both strong and considerate. Their eyes met, and for a moment, they stood there, lost in each other's gaze. Love and admiration shimmered between them, their hearts oblivious to the stunnedโand horrifiedโexpressions of their watching friends.
"Once they got shot by the arrows, Cupid and Clawd were inseparable and nothing else mattered to them."
The tension in the air was thick as Clawdeen rushed to Clawd's side, her voice urgent as she tried to break through the spell clouding his mind. But Clawd only looked at her with mild confusion, his adoring gaze flickering back to Cupid as he absentmindedly brushed a lock of her hair behind her ear. Clawdeen clenched her fists, her frustration mounting as she struggled to bring her brother back to reality.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the hall, Zeraphine approached Draculaura and Valentine, her heart pounding as she fought to find the right words. The sight of Draculaura so utterly entranced by him sent a pang of unease through her, but she steeled herself. She's still in there. I just have to reach her.
"Hey, Draculaura," Zeraphine said softly, her voice carrying a gentle but firm resolve. "May I please talk to you in private?" She deliberately ignored Valentine's presence, keeping her focus entirely on her friend.
Draculaura blinked at her, her expression momentarily puzzled before she leaned into Valentine's side with a dreamy smile. "Whatever you have to say to me, you can say in front of Val." She turned her gaze to him with a love-struck sigh, as if he was the only thing in the world that mattered. Zeraphine inhaled deeply, steadying herself. "Fine."
With careful hands, she reached out, cupping Draculaura's chin gently between her fingers and turning her face until their eyes met. Her voice softened, taking on an almost lyrical quality as she spoke.
"When you told the story of how you met Valentine, you said it was the most romantic story ever told. But that's not true. The most romantic story is the one you and Clawd share. A vampire and a werewolfโopposites, meant to be enemies, yet somehow drawn to each other by something deeper than rivalry. Even when things weren't easy, even when there were arguments, misunderstandings, and tears, you two always found your way back. You wiped each other's tears. That's real love, Draculaura." Draculaura's eyes widened slightly, a flicker of somethingโrecognition, maybeโbreaking through the haze of enchantment. Zeraphine held onto that moment of hesitation, silently willing her words to take root in her friend's heart.
But just as quickly as it had appeared, the flicker vanished. Valentine's hand brushed against Draculaura's cheek, drawing her attention away. She turned to him instantly, her eyes filling with adoration once more.
"Maybe," Valentine said smoothly, his voice like silk, "but he's out of the picture now." His lips curled into a smug smirk as he pulled Draculaura closer, his victory evident in the way she sighed dreamily at his touch.
A deep, guttural hiss tore through the air. Zeraphine felt the telltale slither of her snakes emerging from her hair, their tongues flickering in warning as they glared at Valentine, their sharp fangs bared in fury. Valentine only chuckled, his confidence unwavering as he guided Draculaura away, their arms wrapped around each other like a twisted, unnatural fairytale.
Zeraphine let out a slow breath, watching them disappear down the hall. Her snakes reluctantly receded, but her unease remained.
Turning, she met Clawdeen's troubled gaze. The werewolf girl looked just as defeated, her battle with Clawd yielding no better results.
Without a word, Zeraphine stepped beside her. They both stared after their lost friends, their shoulders heavy with worry, knowing that time was running out and Zeraphine rubbed her eyes under her sunglasses trying to come up with a plan.
"And poor Draculaura. With every romantic gesture, she was falling deeper and deeper under Valentine's control."ย
The group of friends lingered by the lockers, their eyes locked on the scene unfolding before them. Valentine stood in front of Draculaura, holding out a delicate music box. The soft chime of the melody filled the air as Draculaura gasped in delight, her fangs glinting in the dim hallway lights.
But with a casual flick of his wrist, Valentine transformed the box into an elegant heart-shaped container of chocolates. Draculaura's eyes widened with glee as she eagerly plucked a piece and popped it into her mouth. Valentine, however, barely acknowledged her reaction. He sighed heavily, sliding his sunglasses onto his face with an air of impatience.
"What's taking so long?" he muttered, frustration clear in his voice as he folded his arms across his chest.
Lagoona turned to the others, concern lacing her voice. "Crikey, it's almost her birthday! We don't have much time."
Clawdeen scowled, crossing her arms. "Why couldn't my brother be more romantic in the first place?" Frankie, standing beside Cleon and Zeraphine, glanced at Clawdeen before replying, "It's not his fault, Clawdeen. Valentine hypnotized her!" Cleon remained quiet, his grip tightening slightly around Zeraphine's waist as they watched the exchange, his protective instincts always heightened when she was near.
Clawdeen, huffing in frustration, turned to Clawd's locker and yanked it open. "He let her get away, Frankie. I mean, his big gift for her was gonna be this box of junk." She reached inside and pulled out an old, plain-looking box. Frankie quickly took it from her hands, her fingers brushing over the surface. Clawdeen kept talking, unaware of the spark of realization dawning in Frankie's electric-blue eyes. "And now every time I try to talk to him, he and Cupid keep waggin' their tongues about the power of true love."
"And that's when it hits me. There was something in that box more powerful than Cupid's and Valentine's powers put together."
Frankie's eyes sparkled with excitement as she turned to her friends, her voice brimming with enthusiasm. "Guys! I have a plan. But we need to get everyone in the same room at the same time." Cleon furrowed his brows, crossing his arms as he considered the challenge. "But how?"
A slow, knowing grin spread across Clawdeen's face as an idea struck her. "A party!" she declared triumphantly, her golden eyes gleaming with determination. "We're back, baby!"
Zeraphine and Cleon exchanged a smug glance before mirroring her confident smirk. Without another word, the three nodded in unison and took off, determination fuelling their steps. It was time to set things right.
"Cleon, Zeraphine and Clawdeen made copies of the skullet keys and used them as invitations."
The three friends stood in the bustling hallway, their hands full of small ornate keys, each one an invitation to Draculaura's Sweet 1600 party. They passed them out as monsters strolled past, excitement already buzzing in the air.
Cleon handed a key to Manny, who took it with a nod before Cleon's sharp eyes landed on Jackson. With a grin, he called out, "Jackson, coming to Draculaura's party?"
Jackson's face lit up as he took the key eagerly. "Party? Me? Awesome!" He held the key like it was the best gift he had received all week. Cleon chuckled before adding with a playful smirk, "Actually, it's for Holt Hyde. We need a DJ." Jackson blinked, realization dawning, but he didn't seem disappointed. Instead, he gave a quick nod before stepping aside. Cleon didn't miss a beat, turning to another passing monster and handing out another key. "Draculaura's party."
Just then, Clawd appeared, walking hand-in-hand with Cupid. The lovestruck pair moved toward Clawdeen, who immediately perked up.
"Hey, you guys, you want to come to Draculaura's party?" she asked, offering them each a key.
Clawd grinned as he took one. "Yeah! That way, everyone can see us and see how in love we are!"
Cupid giggled as they both chimed in unison, "In love!" They gazed into each other's eyes as if the world around them didn't exist, lost in their own little fairytale.
Clawdeen's forced smile barely lasted a second before it turned into a look of pure disgust. "Great..." she muttered before shuddering. "Gro-to-the-ross."
Zeraphine burst into laughter, her snakes shifting slightly in amusement.
Clawdeen groaned, shaking her head. "I'm so glad you and Cleon aren't like that."
Zeraphine chuckled as she handed out the last of the keys, her fingers brushing against Cleon's as he reached for one of his own. The warmth in his gaze made her heart flutter, but thankfully, they weren't as over-the-top as Clawd and Cupid.
Just as they finished their task, Zeraphine's sharp eyes caught something. Across the hall, Frankie was trailing behind Draculaura and Valentine, who were making their way toward the exit. Zeraphine and Frankie locked eyes, a silent understanding passing between them.
Frankie gave a small, confident nod before slipping away in pursuit of their hypnotized friend. Zeraphine, watching with a smug smirk, muttered under her breath, "Perfect."
