Chapter 13
Tuesday, September 9th
Y/N didn't see Jimin in the morning, so she went to her first class, English, with Jihoon. They sat together and she was so much into their conversation, that she didn't even notice Jimin had already sat in his place.
"Good morning, students! So, I know you may have more questions about the trip, etc... but I won't really be answering questions today since you'll also have to hear from your geography teacher. We'll hold an assembly later on for the Senior year only. I think it'll be in October, so there is a lot of time for questions."
Once English class came to an end, Y/N and Jimin made their way to their next class, Geography. "Jimin are you going to the trip to England?" Y/N asked curiously but Jimin shrugged. "Can you please come? My dad said I have to go, plus because of you yesterday he thought you were my boyfriend!" she protested, slapping his shoulder as her cheeks flushed at the mortifying memory.
"I don't know but don't worry, Jihoon is definitely going... and about your dad, what did he say about me being your boyfriend?" Jimin smiled smugly, hiding his shyness.
"First of all, it's great that Jihoon is going. I'm really happy about that!"
Jimin secretively rolled his eyes as Y/N spoke enthusiastically. "And second of all, I want you also to be there, it just won't hit the same without you. Thirdly, my dad got upset when I told him you weren't my boyfriend and not to bring any other guy over."
Jimin's heart hopped a beat at her words as a loud laugh escaped his lips due to the euphoria he was feeling, knowing something so simple. At this point, he wasn't going to let his brother win. Jihoon could rest because Jimin wanted to get Y/N more than anything and he was determined to do so.
"Well, he doesn't need to worry... I'll definitely win your heart!" Jimin winked playfully and Y/N pushed him with her hips before running away.
"You are crazy! Stop joking around!" she screeched, hiding her face in her hands as if that would restrict people from seeing her red face.
"But I'm not joking..." he muttered under his breath, making sure she wouldn't be able to hear it.
They took their seats for Geography class and the teacher came in.
"Hello, students. I just wanted to tell you about the trip to England from a geographic perspective. The trip will be somewhere in mid-November, that's so you can have time to prepare for your English, History and Geography exams. You'll know more about this at the assembly that has been scheduled for October."
[Timeskip to afterschool 3:00 PM]
Jimin and Y/N were adventuring themselves to the mall, so they could buy a present for Jihoon when an idea popped up in Y/N's mind. "Jimin, can we stop by Starbucks?" she said pointing to her right where the cafe called Starbucks was at.
"I have never been there before... but sure"
"You weirdo! But there's always a first time, right? Do you like coffee?" Y/N giggled as they crossed the street hand in hand. Jimin nodded enthusiastically, the idea of coffee made him feel serene and thirsty for a sip. "Wow, you really do contrast your brother, he doesn't like coffee, right?"
He nodded once more but with way less enthusiasm.
After they both decided what to order, they went to the cash-counter, "Two Mocha Frappuccinos small size, please!" Y/N said as she was about to take out her money, but when she looked up Jimin was already holding the bill in his hand. "Hey! I wanted to pay!" she retorted, making the cashier chuckled at them.
"It's okay, Y/NNIE." Jimin patted her head before looking at the cashier again, "Thank you!" he bowed to her and they walked to the mall. "Wow! This thing is so good!" Jimin exclaimed as he sipped a bit of his coffee. "And heavy..."
"I know, right! It tastes great but it leaves you with a quite full stomach." she wiggled her eyebrows playfully. "I'm clueless about what to buy for Jihoon though... does he perhaps like puzzles? I know it's random, but I remember there is a giant shop with so many puzzles in that mall so..."
"How do you know that he likes puzzles?" Jimin's eyes widened as he spoke and Y/N smiled proudly.
"I didn't, but you said you don't know him well and look! You lied. Anyway, we can buy him a puzzle or is it a bad idea?"
"That's great! Come on, let's go!" Jimin shook his head, pulling her across the street to reach the mall.
By the time they reached the puzzle shop, Jimin and Y/N had already finished with their coffee. As they entered the shop, they were both left in awe by all the different puzzles that existed there. There were big, complex-looking puzzles and the ones that shine in the dark.
"So, which one do you think we should buy for your brother? How about a landscape? What's his favourite season? Does he have a favourite country?" Y/N inquired as she scanned around, looking for various types of pictures that Jihoon could enjoy solving.
Jimin felt like the least creative person ever, but to his luck, Y/N was full of ideas. When Jimin was about to speak, a train of thoughts crushed into her mind, "But wait for a second!" she exclaimed, some people turning to look at her weirdly because of how loud she was. "Aren't you guys twins? Isn't it also your birthday?" her eyes widened so much that it looked as if they were going to pop out of her sockets.
"In some rare cases, a twin can be born later..." he replied absent-mindely as he observed some puzzles that he thought Jihoon could like.
"Wow, so you guys are a rare case? That's so cool! Who was born first?"
Y/N had this habit of jumping a lot when she's excited, and Jimin loved it, he thought it was adorable.
"Can you guess who was born first?" he challenged, leaving a glint of arcane in his tone and she quickly shook her head in response.
"I have no idea... from one side, I feel you were born first just because, but from the other side, I feel like Jihoon was born first because of the whole preference-thing between your parents. It's just a theory... but I am not actually convinced..."
"I was born first. Even though I was first, they still chose Jihoon." Jimin didn't really sound sad as he spoke, instead, he had his usual serious and monotonous tone. "How about this one? I remember he told my mom and dad that he wanted to go to the north pole and see the lights... haha that kid." he chuckled to himself as he stared at a really big puzzle of a snowy landscape with beautiful and colourful lights.
An involuntary simper beseted her lips as she watched Jimin beaming at the old memories. He still loved his brother, he was just offended and in that exact moment, Y/N knew that sentence couldn't be anything but true.
"Yes! It's great, I'm sure he'll feel tremendous knowing that you remembered one of his wishes from when he was more juvenile." Y/N replied as they walked towards the cash desk. They split the amount of money in half since the puzzle was pretty expensive and the gift was from both of them. After paying, they exited the shop.
"Jimin, how about I keep the puzzle, so there won't be chances of Jihoon seeing it at your house?"
Jimin nodded and they started taking their regular path to Y/N's house. "Y/N, please don't get upset by this question, but I really need an answer... who do you enjoy spending your time more with? Me or Jihoon?"
"Funny, Jihoon once asked me a similar question. He asked me who I favoured more between the two of and I just said no one because you guys are different. Spending time with you is really different from when I do with Jihoon."
"What if one day you were forced to choose?" Jimin gulped, knowing that some day, some time, at some point, she'll have to make a choice.
"I would choose... myself."
To be continued...
Author-nim's Note:
[Guys I just wanted to put up a little disclaimer about the twin's birthdays. So, factually, they can be born on different dates, but it's like some specific stuff that I don't know, so please just know that it's fictional. I read it from Google but IDK, man...💜💜💜💜💜 ]
