𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙞𝙨𝙣'𝙩 𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙮.

"Coffee. Coffee. Coffee," Hope mutters as she opens the cabinets looking for anything resembling coffee. Needing the caffeine before World War Three started.

Opening the fridge Hope smiles seeing iced coffee before pouring it into a cup as she looks for some creamer. Once she finds some she pours it in her cup before she begins to drink it sighing in relief and happiness.

Alec watches the entire thing by the door confused while Hope just leans against the counter sipping her coffee.

"I've missed you," Hope mutters rubbing the cup as she looks at her coffee lovingly making Alec shake his head.

"So you know nothing about the shadow world?" Alec asks making Hope look toward him as she shrugs.

"Nope and Malibu Barbie is not good at explaining. All the legends are true," Hope says mimicking Jace before scoffing as Alec tries not to laugh.

"He is sort of right. All the legends are true regarding vampires, shadowhunters, seelies, and werewolves," Alec tells Hope who looks at him interested before she jumps on the counter crossing her legs.

"Why?" Alec asks Hope confused making the auburn-haired girl shrug.

"I don't know. I'm short it makes me feel less short," Hope tells Alec before looking toward him.

"Explain. Please," Hope says smiling making Alec roll his eyes at her.

"Vampires are sort of already explained. There are two types but New York usually only has one type. You have nightwalkers and daywalkers. We only have nightwalkers. The sun kills them," Alec explains to Hope.

"Well, that sucks," Hope tells Alec who shakes his head at her.

"Then we have seelies. They are what people know as fairies. They are half demon half angel,"  Alec explains to Hope.

"Do they have wings?" Hope asks him hopefully as Alec just looks at her shaking his head making Hope pout at that upset.

"Werewolves are the same as vampires. There are two types. One born a werewolf with the werewolf curse. It's a curse placed on your bloodline. You kill someone you suffer the consequences of having to break every bone in your body on the night of the full moon. The second is turned by a bite or a scratch. They are not controlled by the moon and can change when they want," Alec tells Hope who nods her head taking a sip of her coffee.

"They are all downworlders since they have demon blood in their veins while shadowhunters have angel blood. Shadowhunter what I am and apparently you protect humans from the downworlders," Alec tells Hope who looks at him wide-eyed.

"There is literally a whole other world that was right under my nose this whole time," Hope says in disbelief as Alec nods his head but Hope begins looking confused making Alec look at her confused.

"What?" Alec asks her making Hope look up at him even if she was sitting on the counter Alec was still taller than her.

"New York has all these people but how come I don't remember ever seeing them? It's like I have holes in my memory. It's all black," Hope explains confused looking at Alec who sighs.

"A warlock," Alec says simply making Hope look at him confused.

"What's a warlock?" Hope questions, Alec.

"A warlock is an immortal race of Downworlder offsprings of demons and humans. One of them must have taken your memories," Alec says making Hope shiver at that.

"That's weird. Really weird. And sort of creepy. You taking my memories without my permission going through my head. There's some weird things in there not going to lie," Hope mutters to Alec who stares at her before shaking his head.

"Come on. I'm sure they are waiting for us," Alec says with his hand out to Hope who sighs not wanting to socialize but takes it getting down.

But she stumbles right into Alec's chest who wraps his arms around her waist making Hope look up at him as the two just stare at each other.

"Uhm thank you," Hope mutters as Alec nod clearing his throat.

"Yeah uhm sure," Alec tells her as the two begin to leave the kitchen only for the two to bump into each other trying to get out the door.

Alec moves letting Hope walk out first making the auburn-haired girl nod at him as she walks back to the main room.

As they walk in Hope smiles seeing Simon with Clary and Jace.

"Simon!" Hope yells making the boy turn to her Hope hands Alec her coffee with a pointed look before running into her best friend's arms.

"Hope what are you wearing?!" Simon questions wide-eyed making Hope chuckle as she hugs him tightly.

"Simon I've worn less than this before," Hope tells him as Simon removes his flannel and wraps it around Hope's arms trying to cover her up move.

"She's right Simon. Remember when she got dressed coded that day at school for wearing an off-the-shoulder top and the next day she arrived at school in a bikini," Clary says laughing as Hope laughs nodding her head remembering that.

"Mom and Luke were so mad at me for that. Well, Mom was. Luke gave me a fist bump, but was mad at all the guys who saw me in just a bikini," Hope says as Simon and Clary shake their heads at her.

"What is going on? Why is there a mundane in the Institute?" Alec asks walking towards the four as Hope takes her coffee mug out of his hands smiling brightly before taking a sip.

"A Circle member followed him to get to Clary and Hope," Jace says making Hope look at him confused.

"Circle member? Am I being stalked again?!" Hope asks groaning as Alec and Jace look at her confused while Clary and Simon just look at her sadly.

"Uhm again?" Jace asks looking at Hope in disbelief and confusion making Hope turn to glare at him.

"Do you have a problem with that Malibu Barbie?" Hope asks him as Jace looks confused at that while Simon and Clary try not to laugh.

"Who?" Jace asks looking straight at Hope who sighs at him.

"Sweetie you need to lay off the bleach to your hair. It's killing what little brain cells you have," Hope tells him as Jace glares at her.

"This is my natural hair color," Jace defends making Hope look at his hair and then him clearly not believing him.

"Sure," Hope says slowly before looking toward Clary with a shake of her head.

"Why is someone trying to either kill us or kidnap us? I have things to do and it will ruin my plans. So I need to know," Hope tells her sister who sighs at her as Simon tries not to laugh.

"All we know is...a long time ago the Circle led a revolt. A lot of Shadowhunters got killed...including my father," Jace says making Hope and Clary look at him sadly.

"Understandable blondie. I have Daddy issues too. That's why I'm attracted to older guys in TV shows and movies," Hope says patting his shoulder making Jace glare at her as Hope gives him a sympathetic look nodding her head.

"And since the revolt we've been forbidden to even hear about the Circle," Alec says stopping the upcoming argument between Hope and Jace that he already knew was going to happen.

"But, how's that even possible? It's your history," Clary says confused.

"Clary, you can't say that. We didn't even know about this world until-," Hope begins before looking towards Alec.

"How long have we been awake?" Hope asks Alec who rolls his eyes at her.

"Less than an hour," Alec tells Hope who nods her head snapping her fingers at Clary.

"A very long hour," Jace mutters making Hope glare at him.

"First of all shut it box bleach. And second of all Clary we have all known about this world for an hour," Hope tells her sister as Clary sighs and Jace just glares at the auburn-haired girl.

"But there's gotta be someone out there who can tell us why they've taken our mother," Clary says looking towards Hope who nods her head.

"She is right about that," Hope says looking toward Jace as she points to Clary.

"There is," Jace tells them as he begins to walk away before looking towards the two.

"You coming?" Jace asks them making Clary nod as Hope shrugs.

"Yeah," Clary says as she begins to follow him along with Simon.

"No, no, no. Not you," Jace says towards Simon stopping him with a hand to his chest.

"Hey, we're a package deal," Clary tells Jace as Hope just watches amused.

"Oh how I wish I had popcorn," Hope mutters making Alec look at her confused as she smiles at him.

"Yeah," Simon says nodding his head and looking at Jace.

"There are runes all over the training room floor that would kill your Mundie boyfriend," Jace says making Hope cover her mouth to hold back a chuckle.

"He's not my-," Clary begins to say slightly flustered.
"I'm not, like- We're, uh, just friends," Simon stutters out as he glares at Hope hearing her muffled chuckles.

"Best friends," Clary says smiling toward Simon as Hope winces.

"Ouch. Friend zoned," Hope mutters shaking her head.

"Yeah, and I'm tough. I can handle runes. So, uh, bring on the runes," Simon says looking at Jace.

"What exactly are runes?" Simon asks after a second making Hope chuckle as she shakes her head.

"They give Shadowhunters our demon-fighting powers," Izzy says walking towards Simon as she activates the angelic rune with her stele on her forearm.

"So hot," Simon says looking at Izzy who smiles at that as Alec glares at him and Jace clears his throat while Hope slaps Simon over the head with a glare.

"The rune," Simon says quickly as Hope nods her head.

"Yeah sure," Hope says slowly as Izzy laughs at Simon.

"Don't worry, Clary. I'll watch over the best friend. In fact, I was about to make breakfast," Izzy says making Alec shake his head as Jace winces.

"On second thought, the runes might be less lethal," Jace tells Simon.

"I'll pretend I didn't hear that," Izzy says towards Jace who rolls his eyes at her.

"Please excuse my brother's lack of manners. This is Alec...and I'm Isabelle," Izzy says holding her hand out for Simon to kiss.

"Lewis. Simon, Simon Lewis," Simon says quickly as he shakes Izzy hand making Hope shake her head.

"Poor Simon," Hope mutters wiping a fake tear.
"Two first names. Am I still talking?" Simon questions himself making Izzy laugh.

"See? Best friend's safe and sound here," Jace says towards Clary pointing towards Simon.

"Jace, if anything happens to him...," Clary trails off worriedly looking at her best friend and then Jace.

"Go on, I'll be fine. I think," Simon says not looking at Clary still mesmerized by Izzy.

"Where are we going?" Clary asks looking back at Jace.

"Training room," Jace tells her before looking at Simon placing his hand on his shoulder.

"Hey, uh...don't eat the food. Dangerous," Jace warns him making Izzy glare at Jace.

"Jace, coming?" Clary asks making Jace nod as he rushes towards Clary. Alec looks towards Hope confused as to why she wasn't going.

"You're not going with them?" Alec asks Hope who shakes her head.

"Nope. I'm leaving," Hope says walking towards the exit as Alec looks confused before following after the auburn-haired girl.

"Wait what?" Alec asks her getting in front of Hope who sighs at him stopping her walk.

"I need to go to my house and get some clothes. As comfy as this shirt is I need something else to wear. I also need some pizza. That sounds good along with some coffee," Hope tells him making Alec confused.

"You just had coffee," Alec says making Hope scoff at his statement.

"Okay and. You can never have too much coffee," Hope tells him as Alec shakes his head.

"Yeah you can," Alec tells Hope who walks around Alec heading towards the front door making Alec grab her arm softly.

"How about this instead? I'll get Izzy to get some clothes to change into because you can't walk New York streets with no shoes on and I might know a good pizza place close to a Starbucks?" Alec asks Hope who smiles brightly at him.

"I knew I liked you for a reason Alec," Hope tells him with a bright smile before patting his shoulder as she begins walking back to the kitchen.

"Wrong way," Alec tells Hope who turns around heading the different way as Alec sighs shaking his head at the girl who he already knew was going to be a headache. Alec was truly ready for her to leave.

Hope now sat on one of the tables in the main room of the institute dressed in a black lace bralette along with a pair of leather pants and a cream cardigan as she drank from Starbucks drink eating a pepperoni pizza.

"You know Alec," Hope starts making the boy sigh as he looks at her raising an eyebrow.

"You are not that bad. You got me food. Both of my favorite Starbucks drinks. You just need to get over that better than everyone else attitude. It's a bit annoying," Hope tells him making Alec glare at her.

"Are you always this bitchy or is today just a rare day?" Alec asks her making Hope laugh as she looks at him.

"On a good day. Just don't get me angry. Or worse coffee deprived. I'm deadly then," Hope tells Alec who shakes his head at her.

"Clary's memories have been wiped," Jace says walking towards the two and making them look at him.

"Yeah, we already figured that out," Hope says pointing between her and Alec making Jace look at them confused.

"I told Alec how I couldn't remember anything and it felt like I had holes in my memory he figured it out almost an hour or so ago," Hope explained seeing his confused expression and making Jace just look at her.

"When did you get pizza?" Jace questions as Hope smiles taking a bite of her pepperoni pizza.

"Alec took me and let me get some Starbucks. One white chocolate mocha and the other a strawberry refresher with lemonade," Hope tells Jace as she gets off the table.

"Here you can have the pepperoni's. I hate the texture of them but I love the taste they leave behind," Hope tells Jace handing him her plate before grabbing her refresher and throwing her coffee away that she already sucked down on the way back to the institute.

"See you later boys!" Hope tells them walking away as they watch her although confused. Jace shrugs as he begins eating the pepperonis making Alec look at him weirdly.

"I'm hungry," Jace justifies making Alec shake his head wondering what he must have done long in a past life to deserve this.

"Let's get out of here, just you, me, and Hope. We can get Dot ourselves," Simon suggests towards Clary as he throws his jacket over his shoulder while Hope walks towards them shaking her head.

"Simon, there are demons out there, okay? Actual demons with tentacles that wanna murder us. Do you know how to kill a demon?" Clary asks Simon with an eyebrow raised as she sighs.

"I'll internet search away," Simon tells her shrugging his shoulders.

"Simon, I really don't think it's that simple," Clary tells him.

"I bet you it's not that hard," Simon retorts making Hope walk toward him.

"I like it here Simon. I got pizza, Starbucks, and some new clothes. It's like I'm living a dream. A dream with demons and Mom missing but still a dream," Hope tells him as Simon and Clary look at her strangely making Hope shrug as she takes a sip of her refresher. 

Izzy then pushes a button and a shelf with weapons appears.

"Whoa," Clary and Hope gasp looking at the weapons. Hope walks towards them to touch one but a hand grabs her before she can and then slaps Izzy's before she can take one. 

"No, Izzy. Hope you too," Jace tells the two making Hope pout as Izzy still runs her finger over a sword while Jace crosses his arms over his chest.

"Fifty bucks says he doesn't approve of this mission," Izzy says making Hope chuckle as she nods.

"One hundred dollars he doesn't," Hope says to Jace who looks at her.

"Deal," Jace says taking Hope's bet who smirks as they shake hands. At that moment Alec comes in and stands next to Hope.

"I don't approve of this mission...," Alec says making Hope hold out her hand towards Jace.

"My money!" Hope says with a bright smile making Jace glare at her before he puts a hundred-dollar bill in her hand.

"Thank you for compensation for my Starbucks and cinnamon roll addiction. It's greatly appreciated," Hope says as Jace rolls his eyes while Alec raises an eyebrow before rolling his eyes at the two.

"I spoke with the Clave. They're sending Seelie scouts to search for Valentine, but they made it clear, the little girls do not leave the premises," Alec says looking at the two Frays.

"First of all, I am definitely not a little girl. And second of all, you cannot keep me here if I don't want to be here. That's detaining someone against their will. In case you didn't know that's illegal," Hope says looking at Alec with her arms crossed.

Alec looks down at her with a glare as Hope smirks at him.

"That's not what a protector would do," Hope mocks as Alec just stares at her while everyone watches. Izzy smirks as she leans closer to Jace.

"Fifty dollars that they fall in love," Izzy tells Jace who looks at her shaking his head.

"Fifty dollars one of them kills the other," Jace says making Izzy and him shake hands before looking at the two who were still in a stare standoff neither wanting to back down.

"Hey, my name is not "little girl", okay? I don't care what that Clave thing or you want, I'm going to find Dot," Clary says as she walks between the two making them break eye contact.

"Wait we're going to find Dot?" Hope asks leaning towards Clary who nods her head.

"Got it," Hope says giving her a thumbs up before leaving closer once again.

"Why?" Hope asks laying her head on Clary's shoulders confused. What did she miss while eating pizza and annoying Alec?

"She's a warlock," Clary tells Hope who gasps at her.
"Really. That's so cool," Hope tells Clary who shakes her head at her as everyone just looks at the two weirdly beside Simon used to the two.

"Alec, this warlock could have the answers we need. With Valentine's people out there searching for Clary and Hope. They are not safe outside alone," Jace tells Alec.

"Jace has a point," Izzy tells her brother who looks at her.

"Et tu, Izzy?" Alec asks her as he unfolds his arms before looking towards Clary.

"All right, since you have all the answers, where do you suggest we search?" Alec asks Clary as Hope shakes her head.

"She's not like ever right. Believe me," Hope warns them as Clary glares at her before looking at Alec.

"We should start at Dot's apartment in Greenpoint, and there's this thrift store that she...," Clary says as she begins playing with her necklace and then gasps.

Clary's eyes widen making Hope raise her eyebrows confused. Clary was frozen for a few seconds making Hope begin to snap her fingers in front of her face confused.

"Does anyone have a pen?" Hope asks hopefully making Izzy chuckle as Alec and Jace shake their heads at the auburn-haired girl.

Soon, Clary begins to blink making Hope pout at that.

"What's wrong? What is it?" Jace asks Clary as Hope rolls her eyes at him.

"Clarbear, are you okay?" Hope asks her softly placing her hands on Clary's shoulders making Clary turn to Hope and nod slowly.

"Weirdly, I think I know where Dot is," Clary says as she exhales.

"Weird but I've seen weirder and done it. But let's go I'll drive!" Hope says clapping her hands and with a nod of her head.

"No!" Clary and Simon yell at Hope making her pout.
"Why not? I'm a great driver!" Hope tells the two who stare at her as if she's insane or has brain damage.

"Tell that to the woman you hit!" Clary tells her making Alec, Jace, and Izzy look wide-eyed at that.

"That wasn't my fault! A dog ran out into the middle of the road. I swerved and tapped the woman with my car," Hope tells Clary as Clary shakes her head.

"She broke her leg!" Clary tells her as Hope throws her hands into the air.

"It was her or the dog! Who would you rather I hit?! I had a choice to make and I chose right!" Hope exclaims to Clary who shakes her head at Hope.

"I'm not having this argument again with you," Clary says done with her sister making Hope scoff at her.

"Great. I'll drive. Unless you have, like, a Shadowhunter-mobile or something," Simon says making everyone look at him as Izzy laughs.

Simon looks down before looking back up with fear planted on his face.

"You were kidding about the runes on the floor killing me...right?" Simon asks panicked making Alec, Jace, and Izzy smile.

"Possibly," Jace tells Simon patting his cheek before leaving the room with Clary following as Hope rolls her eyes at her twin.

"Don't worry Si I'll write an amazing eulogy for you," Hope says smiling as she walks out of the room with Alec following behind her.

"Wait...am I going to die?" Simon asks panicked as Hope chuckles.

And of course, there was no room in Simon's van. This was why Hope wanted to drive to begin with, but everyone besides Jace voted against that idea after hearing the dog and woman story.

With that Simon was in the driver's seat, Clary was in the passenger, Alec was sitting behind Clary, Izzy was next to Alec, and Jace was sitting behind Simon.

Hope being the smallest had to sit on someone's lap. So Hope was sitting on Alec's lap who had decided to wrap his arms around her waist to keep her in place since the first turn Simon took made Hope fall literally into Izzy's lap and then tried to attack Simon.

Hope was just looking at Alec's hands that were wrapped around her waist. She really just wanted to play with his fingers. It was relaxing for her. She wished Alec had rings so she could play with them as well.

With that thought, Hope grabs one of Alec's hands and begins playing with his finger as Alec looks at her worriedly but doesn't say anything.

Izzy looks and sees the two smirk slightly seeing how her brother was leaning back slightly into the seat holding Hope protectively.

Soon the group arrived at Pandemonium Hope never wanted to get out of a car so fast in her life. And she once rode in a car with Luke as he tried to talk to her about boys and what the only thing on their minds was.

As the group of six went down the alleyway Clary began to walk faster. She suddenly stops and grabs her necklace, gasping immediately afterward.

"No!" Clary says before she begins to run making Hope groan.

"Clary! Get back here! I don't like exercise for no reason!" Hope groans as Clary ignores her.

"Clary! Clary, stop! Where are you going?" Jace asks her as he grabs her confused. Hope slaps it away with a glare making Jace glare back at her.

Clary looks at Hope with tears in her eyes before running into Hope's arms who stumbles back.

Hope would have fallen down if his arms didn't wrap around her waist stabilizing her as Hope wraps her arms around Clary.

"Clary calm down. What happened?" Hope asks softly but demanding at that same time running her fingers through Clary's ginger hair.

"Two men, Circle members...the same ones who came to our house, who took Mom. They have Dot. They're gonna hurt her or kill her," Clary tells Hope before pulling back and looking at her. 

"We have to stop them!" Clary tells her before running again making Hope begin to do so too. The two stop as they enter Pandemonium and Clary looks around slowly.

"No," Clary says with her breathing shaking.
"No. She was just trying to help us," Clary says as she reaches for her necklace with a broken expression on her face while Simon puts a hand on Clary's shoulder with comfort.

"Clary, I'm sorry," Simon tells her sadly as Clary shakes her head.

"You don't understand it. Dot is like another sister to me," Clary tells him as she shakes her head.

"It's not safe here. We have to go back to the Institute right now," Alec says looking around prepared for a fight. Clary goes towards Alec and Hope can tell she is angry. Very angry.

"So, what now? Valentine has our Mom and Dot, and we're just gonna give up?" Clary asks looking at Alec before looking at Jace.

"What about our memories? They can't just be gone?" Clary asks Jace who just crosses his arms over his chest, sharing a look with the other two shadowhunters.

"There is another option," Jace says making Alec and Izzy immediately begin to protest.

"Don't even-."
"Absolutely not.

"Uhm I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I disagree," Hope says nodding her head slowly not liking the sound of this at all.

"I'm not afraid of silent brothers," Jace says shrugging his shoulders and ignoring Hope's comment.

"Who are the silent brothers?" Clary asks as she looks at Hope who shrugs.

"They sound like a boy band. The Silent Brothers," Hope says chuckling as Jace shakes his head at her. She would definitely listen to their music.

"They're Shadowhunters with superior powers," Jace informs the two.

"Who possesses the ability to recover memories," Izzy adds as Hope and Clary share a look shrugging as Alec raises an eyebrow.

"A process that can also kill you, so there's that," Alec tells the two making Hope look wide-eyed as Simon points to Alec.

"Your bedside manner is abysmal," Simon tells Alec as Hope shakes her head.

"Uhm see I have plans to you know not die anytime soon so....," Hope says shrugging her shoulders as Izzy chuckles at her.

"We've broken at least 18 Clave rules and now you want to go to the City of Bones? There's no way. I won't allow it," Alec says moving towards Jace making Jace roll his eyes.

"This is not our choice to make. This is Clary's and Hope's decision," Jace tells Alec.

"You can't ask them to do this. They don't know what they're facing. They're not prepared," Izzy says shaking her head.

"Yeah, I don't like this plan. How about instead we go get some Chinese? I know this really good spot close to water. Luke used to take me all the time. It's delicious and not really that expensive, although it sometimes smells like wet dogs," Hope says shrugging as Clary looks at her in disbelief.

"What is your problem?! Mom is missing and you are acting like you don't care at all!" Clary yells at Hope and stares at her twin before she scoffs at her shaking her head.

"Mom was taken by one of the most dangerous and deadly men in the Shadow world Clary! Us two eighteen-year-old girls who know nothing of this world along with a nerd and three shadowhunters cannot save her by ourselves! I'm being practically Clary," Hope exclaims to her sister as Simon looks offended by his description.

"Mom chose to lie to us. She chose to hide for eighteen years along with taking something from someone who she knew was going to come looking for it. She put us all in danger. You know what I'll tell you what mom always tells me: you made your bed you lay in it! Mom made her bed now she has to lay in," Hope tells Clary who glares at her.

"You are so selfish!" Clary says making Hope chuckle at her without humor in it.

"I'm selfish?! Me?! I've done everything my entire life to keep you safe! I'm sorry I don't want to go on a suicide mission for a woman who once told me she wished I never existed. My bad I apologize," Hope tells Clary with clear sarcasm in her voice.

"But you want to go on this mission go right ahead Clary but I will be telling you I told you so when things go wrong. Because sometimes we don't need to know everything, Clary! Knowing something can get us all killed or make us regret it," Hope tells Clary before storming off as Clary glares at her retreating back.  Before storming towards the van as well while Simon sighs at the two sisters.

"Great just great another argument about Jocelyn," Simon says shaking his head and rubbing his forehead.

"This happens often?" Izzy questions Simon who chuckles with no humor in it as he nods his head.

"More than you think. Jocelyn and Hope's relationship is complicated. Very complicated truthfully. Somedays Jocelyn loved Hope others she hated her, but she adored Clary. It was perfectly clear who was the favorite daughter to everyone but Clary. She adored her mom too much to notice how she treated her sister. And Hope would never tell her not wanting to put a strain on their relationship," Simon tells her as he walks towards the van hoping the two haven't killed each other.

"Well then," Jace says nodding his head as he begins walking towards the van Alec and Izzy follow him not saying anything.

The ride to the cemetery was silent only the sound coming from Simon's radio. Hope was in Alec's lap once again and playing with his hands once again. She was about to fall asleep exhausted both mentally and physically. All she wanted was a soft bed and pillow to fall asleep on.

Once they arrived in the city of the bones Alec shook her gently as Hope sighed.

"I need some Starbucks," Hope mutters yawning as she gets out of the van. Once she does she almost trips but Alec wraps an arm around her waist catching her.

"You okay?" Alec asks Hope who nods her head.
"Yeah, I'm fine just sleepy. Thank you," Hope tells him nodding her head as she goes to walk again Alec lets her go this time. 

"Yeah, this place isn't creepy. Not at all," Simon says his eyes blinking constantly making Izzy laugh at him.

"Don't tell me you're afraid," Izzy says in a mocking tone but a smile on her face.

"Are you kidding me? I was born afraid...which sounded a lot better in my head," Simon tells her making Izzy laugh at him while Hope tilts her head to the side with her eyebrows furrowed confused.

"How did that sound better in your head?" Hope mutters to Simon confused.

"Let's check it out," Alec says looking towards Izzy and Jace who nods. Clary then begins to walk, but Jace steps in front of her.

"Wait here a minute. I wanna see if it's safe," Jace tells Clary as Hope notices the little fire making her walk towards it to feel warm.

"Clary! Come on, everything is clear," Jace calls from a distance after a few minutes. Clary and Simon begin to walk in there as Hope sits down just listening in.

"You have to understand, the Silent Brothers are not like us," Jace explains to Clary.

"They lack your charm and superior people skills?" Clary asks in a mixture of a mocking and flirty tone as Hope rolls her eyes.

"Yeah, most people do. Brothers communicate without using words, using just their thoughts," Jace tells Clary as Hope shudders. They sounded very creepy.

"That doesn't sound so bad," Clary tells him as she shrugs her shoulders while Hope looks at her confused.

Did entering this world give her brain damage?

"Don't let their silence fool you. They'll hold the Soul Sword to your head, and with its blade, carve the truth from your mind. If you're not strong enough, you will die," Jace warns Clary as Hope just leans back.

"I take it back. That sounds level ten bad," Clary tells Jace who stops walking making Clary stop as Hope holds back the I told you so that wanted to come out.

"Clary, you should know, the pain will be excruciating. You don't have to-," Jace tells her as they stop at the door with skeletons hanging making Clary sigh as she stares at the entrance.

"I'll do anything. Walk through fire, battle demons, whatever it takes. I have to get my mom back. I can't...I won't lose her unlike some people," Clary says shooting Hope a look who finger waves at her sarcastically before rolling her eyes.

"Yeah, you can. You're Clary freakin' Fray. You can do anything," Simon says as he smiles at Clary before trying to enter but Jace puts his hand on Simon's shoulder stopping him making Simon turn to Jace and stare at him.

"Surprise, surprise. No mundanes allowed, just like in the training room, right? Wrong! I've seen every horror movie ever made and the funny best friend who gets left behind...dead man," Simon says making Izzy laugh as Jace looks at the entrance, arms crossed looking at Simon.

"You're not that funny," Jace tells Simon making Hope chuckle before looking at Simon.

"And Simon the virgin always lives so you will be fine. Don't worry!" Hope says waving off his concern as Simon looks at her betrayed while Izzy and Jace laugh and Clary gives Hope a disappointed look.

"But by all means, go ahead," Jace says after he finishes laughing making Simon walk up to the door, but he stops at the sound of Jace's voice.

"Of course, the minute you enter, you'll die," Jace tells him making Simon turn around to look.

"Problem is, now I don't trust you," Simon tells Jace who just stands there with his arms crossed.

"He's not lying," Alec says making Simon look at him.
"Now. He was before," Izzy says as she smiles.

"The rune energy in the City of Bones will kill any mundane who dares to enter, so, please...," Alec tells Simon as he moves his hand gesturing for Simon to walk through as Hope shakes her head.

"The Brothers creep me out. I'll mind the mundane," Izzy says as she smiles at Simon.

"Your sacrifice is noted, Izzy," Jace tells Izzy in a sarcastic voice making Hope gasp.

"You can be sarcastic," Hope says in fake surprise while Jace glares at her before looking back at Clary.

Not seeing anyone watching her Hope gets up and begins leaving the entrance looking around for a payphone. She needed to speak to someone and without her phone, there was no other way to call him.

Once she finds one Hope looks through her pockets before seeing a quarter on the ground. Smiling brightly Hope grabs it before putting it into the payphone and begins dialing the familiar number she memorized by heart since she was in the sixth grade.

"This is Luke Graymark," the familiar voice says making Hope smile.

"Hi Lukey," Hope says softly making Luke freeze before sighing in relief.

"Hope. Are you okay? Where are you?" Luke asks right away as Hope leans against the payphone.

"Why didn't you tell us, Luke? Any of it?" Hope questions him making Luke sigh as he shakes his head.

"Jocelyn didn't want you two to know. She wanted you both to have a normal mundane life," Luke tells Hope who shakes her head scoffing softly.

"I don't know what to do Luke," Hope whispers to the man who sighs.

"Tell me where you are and I'll come get you. We can talk and I'll explain everything. I promise Hope. All I ever wanted to do was keep you and Clary safe," Luke tells Hope who pauses before nodding.

"I'm at the-," Hope begins before a hand wraps around her mouth making Hope scream as she tries to get away elbowing the person in the stomach only to have a hand wrap around her throat tightly as Hope gasps for breath.

"Hope! Hope?!" Luke screams into the phone and Hope tries to reach for it but is sped away before she can.

Meanwhile, with the others, Jace and Clary rush out of the City of Bones tears flowing down Clary's checks. 

"What happened? What did you find out?" Alec asks looking at the two.

"Valentine is Clary's father," Clary tells Alec although almost hesitantly as Alec's jaw tightens.

"Wait a minute. You're telling me this girl shows up out of nowhere and she's Valentine's daughter? Did it occur to you that she might be a spy? This might be part of her plan?" Alec questions Jace making him glare at him.  

"That's enough, Alec," Jace tells him with a glare as Alec shakes his head at him while Clary walks towards Alec; who seems angry by everything that was happening.

"Do you think I planned for my mom to get kidnapped? Or...or for Dot to be taken? Or to have a giant sword dangle over my head and find out that my father is one of the most dangerous people in the world? Really?" Clary asks him as her breath trembles.

"Where is Simon and Hope?" Clary asks realizing they weren't around just as Izzy walks towards the group.

"Where is Simon and Hope?" Clary asks with a frown.
"I told him to stay in the van. I've searched everywhere. And Hope was at the fire but she just disappeared," Izzy tells Clary as she sighs in worry.

"They're gone?!" Clary exclaims her eyes wide open.
"You were supposed to protect them!" Clary yells before she begins yelling Simon and Hope's names.

"Hope! Simon!" Clary screams as she starts running toward the van.  

"Ugh, these mundanes are killing me. Did Hope leave to get Starbucks or food again?" Jace asks groaning as Izzy and Alec shrug at that before following Clary.

"Simon! No! Hope!" Clary yells as she looks through the van not seeing the two. She hoped maybe Hope was just asleep in the back like she usually was but she wasn't.

"Is that their names?" A voice questions making the four turn to see the owner of the voice.

A man was at the top of the bridge above the City of Bones with a woman next to him. The female held onto Simon's ankle, making him hang upside down while the man held onto Hope's neck who glared at him full of hatred.

"I'm afraid Simon and Hope will be coming with us," the man tells them as Hope tries to get out of his hold.

"Stop sweetheart," the voice says making Hope scoff at his words.

"First of all not your sweetheart. And second of all bite me," Hope says glaring hatefully at the man.

"Didn't tempt me," he tells her with a smirk as Hope rolls her eyes at him angrily.

"No!" Clary yells as she tries to run toward the two, but Jace holds her back as Hope sighs.

"No, he's not a part of this! And you need to let my sister go!" Clary yells at the vampire as Hope rolls her eyes. 

"Clary that isn't going to work!" Hope tells her as if it was common knowledge.

"And it'll be my pleasure to kill you unless you return them," Jace says glaring at the vampire holding Hope.

"Careful. We'd be violating the Accords," Alec warns Jace as he grabs his arm stopping him as Hope rolls her eyes once again. Which she felt like is all she's done since entering this world.

"I'm afraid your sidekick's quite right," Raphael tells them as he shows his fangs.

"The Night Children have broken no laws. We're negotiating. The mundane and girl unharmed, in exchange for the Mortal Cup," Raphael tells them making Clary gasp wide-eyed. 

"And the clock is ticking. Tick-tock, people," Raphael tells them as they begin speeding off only thing they hear is Hope's voice before she is gone.

"Oh let me go you fucking Edward Cullen wannabe!" Hope yells as they watch the two get taken worriedly.
