𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙡.

Hope was dancing along to music in the kitchen dressed in someone's t-shirt and a pair of Izzy's shorts.

Getting kidnapped was exhausting work and after waking up in the softest bed she had ever slept in the auburn-haired girl realized that she hadn't eaten anything in over twelve overs besides the coffee she made Alec give her, but she needed food.

That's why she was now in the kitchen trying to make her some pasta. The keyword is trying.

"Oh crap!" Hope exclaims wide-eyed as the pot of noodles catches on fire.

"Hope!" A voice yells before Hope is suddenly sprayed in form due to the fire extinguisher.

"What the hell?!" Hope screams wide-eyed before she turns to see Jace who is staring at her just as wide-eyed.

"What were you trying to do?! You almost caught the institute on fire!" Jade yells at her as Hope throws her hands in the air.

"I was trying to make pasta! You ruined it! And sprayed me with a fire extinguisher!" Hope yells at him angrily huffing.

"Well, your pasta was on fire! I save your life!" Jace yells back at her saying the world pasta full of sarcasm as he scoffs at her. Hope glares at him before snatching the fire extinguisher and then spraying Jace with it.

"Hope! Hope stop it!" Jace yells at her trying to get it back but it is just making Hope hit him with it even more.

"How do you like it Malibu Barbie?!" Hope questions him angrily as Jace screams trying to take it from her.

"What is going on in here?!" A voice exclaims walking into the kitchen making Hope immediately stop as she looks at Jace whose body is now covered in form just as Alec walks in and stares at the two and then the kitchen in disbelief.

"He started it!"
"She started it!"

Hope and Jace yell at the same time pointing at each other before they glare at each other while Alec just stares crossing his arms angrily.

"I don't care which one of you started it. Both of you will be cleaning this kitchen. Immediately," Alec tells the two making Jace and Hope share a look before nodding their heads.

Hope turns to Alec with a mischievous smirk as he watches her warily about to say something but is stopped by Hope spraying him with the fire extinguisher as she and Jace laugh loudly.

The fire extinguisher runs out soon and Alec looks up at the two as he wipes the form out of his eyes while Jace and Hope laugh loudly clutching each other so they don't fall.

"You are both dead," Alec says calmly to calmly making Jace and Hope stop laughing as they look at each other wide-eyed before they run straight out of the room.

Hope pushes Jace behind her screaming as she enters the control center in the institute with Jace right behind her.

"Hope! Jace! Get back here!" Alec yells making Hope squeal as she laughs running even faster.

"What is going on?" Izzy asks looking at the two covered in form as Simon and Clary stand beside her arguing about Simon leaving.

"Hope! Jace!" Alec yells running as he rounds the corner making the entire institute look at him. It was silent for a moment until Hope began to laugh making everyone laugh with her.

"Hope. Were you trying to cook again?" Simon alas chuckling making Hope glare at him before smirking.

"Want a hug, Simon?" Hope asks with her arms open as Simon backs up.

"No. No. Hope no!" Simon yells at her making her smile even bigger.

"Oh come on Si! Give me a hug! We almost died!" Hope says as she wraps her arms around Simon who screams trying to get away making her laugh even harder.

"Well good, you are here Hope. Tell Simon he can't leave," Clary tells her sister making Hope look toward Simon sadly.

"You're leaving?" Hope questions making Simon nod.
"Be safe. Don't go getting kidnapped. Again," Hope tells him patting his cheek as Simon rolls his eyes at her.

"You got kidnapped too!" Simon defends as Hope shrugs her shoulder at him.

"Hope! He can't leave! It isn't safe," Clary tells her sister who sighs at her.

"Clary. He will be a lot safer away from all of this messed up stuff," Hope says waving her hand around at the entire institute. Clary sighs shaking her head as Simon kisses Hope's cheek. 

"I'll call you," Simon tells her making Hope nod before she turns around.

"And I need to have a shower. Izzy, I will be stealing your clothes once again," Hope says smirking as she walks away making Izzy shake her head before smiling at the two boys.

"I have to say I like having her here," Izzy says chuckling as she takes a picture of her two boys covered in fire extinguisher foam before walking away.

In front of a monitor, the group was down waiting for Hope to join so they began talking about Hope and Clary's missing memories idea.

"Sorry. It took forever to get that foam out of my hair," Hope mutters glaring at Jace as she walks over to them dressed in a pair of black joggers along an off-the-shoulder blue top.

"Oh Alec I took your joggers. Hope you don't mind," Hope says as she sits beside Izzy on the table with Alec beside her in a chair. Jace stands with his arms crossed and Clary sits in a chair in front of him. While Hodge was standing, sliding a finger over a tablet, showing photos on a large screen of Magnus Bane.

"Hey, he looks familiar," Hope mutters missing the way Alec was watching her in his clothes but Izzy didn't and was smirking at her brother.

"What do you mean?" Jace questions looking at the girl who snaps her figures at him.

"I meet him well not really but I did see him that night at Pandemonium. He caught me from falling," Hope tells them as she nods her head.

"Magnus Bane. He's over 300 years old," Hodge says as everyone listens to him.

"And, as you can see, he's not exactly shied away from the pleasures of every century. His tastes are both exquisite...and quite excessive," Hodge says as he slides the pictures on the tablet seeing different pictures of Magnus with different people surrounding him.

"He looks like the Downworld's David Guetta," Clary comments making Izzy look at her.

"Guetta is already a Downworlder," Izzy says making Clary and Hope look toward her.

"Vampire? Have you ever seen it in the light of day?" Izzy questions making Hope think about it for a moment before shrugging and nodding her head.

"Can you three focus? This is not a joke," Alec tells the three making Izzy look toward Hope with a smirk.

"Someone needs to get slayed," Izzy says making Hope roll her eyes at her before looking back at Hodge missing the look Alec was sending Izzy.

"Alec's right. Now, Magnus is one of the most powerful warlocks I've ever known. He has a deep mistrust of Shadowhunters," Hodge says looking at the two girls making Clary raise her eyebrows slightly at that.

"Well, then why did he help our mom remove our memories? Isn't she a Shadowhunter?" Clary asks confused making Hope nod.

"I don't say this often but Clary is right," Hope says winking at her sister who sends her a pointed look as Hodge smiles at the two.

"Yes, one of the best. But "help" might not be the most accurate word," Hodge says making Hope look towards him closely as she plays with her necklace.

"Now, did Magnus provide a service for Jocelyn? Perhaps. But more than likely, your mother paid Magnus handsomely for his magic," Hodge informs them as Jace moves to sit next to Alec.

"Warlocks usually require payment before they help anyone with anything," Jace tells him as Alec nods his head.

"Word from the Clave is that most of the warlocks have gone into hiding since Valentine began hunting them," Alec informs them as Hope sighs at that.

"Valentine must be searching for the warlock, where did Jocelyn—," Hodge begins to say before his Circle Rune begins to sizzle.

Hodge stops talking and puts the tablet down resting his hands on a chair while inhaling while Hope just watches him disinterested in the man.

She didn't like him.

Something about him just made her skin crawl and told her to literally stab him in the heart with the closest dagger she could find.

"Hodge, your rune. You okay?" Clary asks the man as Hope rolls her eyes at him.

"So how do we find Magnus?" Hope asks looking around at everyone as Clary sends her a look.

"We don't. Magnus finds us," Hodge says after a moment when he catches his breath again.

"We'll set up a meeting, somewhere protected. Lure him out of hiding," Hodge tells him making Izzy smile.

"And I know exactly where we do it," Izzy says as she gets up and takes the tablet out of Hodge's hands before she begins to slide her fingers across it. She stops at a VIP party for Downworlders making Hodge laugh and Hope and Jace smile.

"A Downworld rave. Nice, Izzy," Jace tells her making Hope nod as she winks at her.

"And where'd you get that?" Alec questions his sister making Izzy smile as she looks at Alec.

"During my surveillance of the Downworlders. From what I hear, Magnus likes to party," Izzy says as Hope shrugs her shoulders at that.

"But his life is in danger. You think he would risk it for a small party?" Hope asks them making Alec nod.

"Hope's right. He will never go for it. Not with Valentine trying to kill him," Alec argues making Hope gasp as she looks at him.

"You agreed with me! Is the world ending?" Hope questions sarcastically making Alec just look at her before rolling his eyes at her.

"Of course, he will. He'll blend in. Hide in plain sight," Jace tells the two before an argument begins making Clary shrug her shoulders.

"I don't know, it seems...," Clary begins to say before Izzy cuts her off.

"Trust me. If Magnus is coming out of hiding, he's going to one of the biggest parties of the year," Izzy tells them as Hope just looks at her.

"A party that he has probably been to multiple times," Hope retorts as she looks at Izzy.

"We need a reason for him to come. An absolute necessity," Hope tells them as she shrugs.

"Never underestimate Magnus' hedonism," Hodge says as he looks at Hope.

"Or his greed. Come with me," Hodge says as he begins to walk away.

Hope went to get from the table when Alec grabbed her hand making Hope smile at him l as he helped her down before they followed Hodge into the training room the man took out his stele and began to draw a rune on a tile.

Hodge then lifts the tile before picking up a beautiful ruby necklace making Hope and Izzy walk toward it.

"Is that real?" Hope and Izzy ask him amazed.

"A four-karat, unheated Burmese ruby. And this necklace has special meaning to Magnus Bane as it was a gift from him to his then-lover, Camille Belcourt," Hodge says as Hope just holds the necklace running her fingers over it before reading what was on the back.

"Amor verus numquam moritur," Hope reads before smiling softly at it.

"What, Camille and Magnus were lovers?" Clary asks in surprise making Jace smirk at Clary.

"Warlock gets around," Jace says making Hope look at him.

"Seems you two have something in common Malibu Barbie," Hope tells him with a smirk making Jace glare at her as she winks.

"Magnus bought it in 1857 for the price of his London townhouse. Now, the jewel is enchanted by a spell that alerts the wearer to the presence of demons," Hodge says making Izzy smile as Hope hands it to him.

"It's so beautiful," Izzy tells Hope who nods.

"I wonder what other jewels he has," Hope says amazed making Izzy nod her head agreeing.

"Magnus has longed to reunite with this necklace. Offer it to him. He might just take the bait," Hodge says making Hope look toward him.

"Wait you stole his necklace? No wonder he hates shadowhunters," Hope says scoffing at the man.

"I'll send Magnus a fire message to arrange the meeting," Jace says as he begins to walk away.

"We have to get to Magnus before Valentine does," Jace says making Hope look at him.

"Yeah that's common knowledge bleached boy," Hope tells him making Jace glare at her.

"This is my natural hair color!" Jace defends making Hope look at him and then at his hair again.

"Whatever you say," Hope tells him clearly not believing him as Jace shakes his head before walking off muttering about how annoying Hope was.

Izzy and Hope stood in Izzy's room. Hope to try on different dresses for tonight.

"This is your dress!" Izzy exclaims as she throws Hope a dress over the divider making Hope look at the dress before laughing slightly as she slips it on.

"I don't know Iz. I'm comfortable with my body but I don't think I'm this comfortable," Hope tells Izzy as she looks down at the red dress.

"Let me see it. If you don't like it we can find something else," Izzy tells Hope who sighs as she steps out behind the divider Izzy stares at her mouth open.

"You have to have that dress even if you don't wear it tonight. I never looked that good in that dress before," Izzy tells her making Hope chuckle and shake her head as she looks towards the mirror seeing herself in the bright red satin dress sleeveless dress that reached mid-thigh.

"Okay...I might like sort of hot," Hope tells her as she begins playing with her necklace making Izzy nod agreeing with her.

"That's beautiful," Izzy tells her making Hope smile as she looks down at it.

"Thank you my Mom gave it to me. I've had it forever it feels like," Hope tells her making Izzy nod before she pushes Hope down who looks at her wide-eyed.

"Now let's do your makeup!" Izzy claps making Hope chuckle as Izzy does a natural glamour look that she ends with some red lipstick.

"Beautiful," Izzy says as she fluffs Hopes wavy hair who chuckles at her smiling brightly.

"Thanks, Iz. I'm not used to having this. Clary doesn't like dressing up and my Mom cares more about Clary than me," Hope tells her making Izzy smile at her.

"Well, you better get used to it. Because you have me now," Izzy tells her making Hope smile at her as Izzy gives her a pair of black Louboutin heels.

"I think I'm in love," Hope mutters as she rubs the heels seeing the red bottom of them and the silk feeling of heels.

"You can have them," Izzy says chuckling making Hope look at her wide-eyed.

"I love you," Hope tells her making Izzy laugh.
"I will forever cherish them," Hope says as she puts them on slowly.

"They feel like heaven," Hope says as she smiles big looking at herself in the mirror Izzy shakes her head handing Hope a pair of black earrings.

"Perfection," Izzy tells the girl who smiles at her as the door opens and Clary enters.

"Jace said you wanted to see me?" Clary asks confused before smiling at her sister who smiles back at her.

"That's right. What are you wearing to the Downworlder party tonight?" Izzy asks her making Clary shrug her shoulders.

"I don't know. I was just thinking about wearing this," Clary tells her making Izzy just look at her in disbelief while Hope laughs shaking her head.

"I don't think so. No Downworlder would be caught dead in that. Plus, it's a party, not a poetry slam," Izzy tells her making Clary sigh.

"Well, I don't really have any party clothes with me, so...," Clary tells her trailing off as Izzy walks to her bed and begins to grab dresses.

"So you'll have to use mine, hmmm?" Izzy says as she holds up a pink glittery dress to Clary making her shake her head at it.

"You realize, one of these days you're gonna have to tell me where and when," Clary says making Izzy look at her amused with her eyebrow raised.

"Where and when what?" Izzy asks her as Hope just looks at them.

"Where do you get your spending money and... when you're letting me go to a store?" Clary tells her as Izzy lifts a black dress and smiles.

"Clary," Izzy says making Clary's eyes widen.
"Okay, that dress is way too tight," Clary tells her shaking her head.

"It's stretchy," Hope and Izzy tell her making Clary pause.

"Go put it on. If you don't like it we will figure out something else for you to wear," Hope tells her sister who sighs before nodding as she grabs the dress and heads behind the divider to change into it.

Izzy and Hope smirk at each other as Izzy picks up some heels and gives them to Clary.

"Try these," Izzy tells Clary who sighs behind the divider as she grabs the shoes.

"I don't know, Isabelle Hope. I think I'm more of a jeans and T-shirt kinda girl," Clary tells them as she steps out from behind the divider dressed in the dress and heels as she steps in front of a mirror.

"You're so lucky to have such a flat chest. I can never wear that without a bra," Izzy says making Hope chuckle as Clary just looks at her.

"Really?" Clary asks her making Izzy nod.
"Really," Izzy tells her as Hope walks towards her.
"And you look beautiful Clary," Hope tells her sister who smiles at her as Jace enters the room.

"Someone's looking badass," Jace tells Clary who turns around to see him.

"Oh, thanks," Clary tells him making Hope scoff.
"Knock much," Hope tells him as she heads towards the door.

"I need coffee if I will be dealing with all of this tonight," Hope says leaving as Jace scoffs at her while Izzy laughs.

"I'm gonna go see Alec. He never knows what to wear to these parties either," Izzy tells them as she walks out of the room.

In the institute weapon area, Alec stands checking his arrows as Izzy walks up to him.

"Pick a weapon. I suggest your whip," Alec tells his sister who was already dressed for tonight in a silver sparkling dress as she takes one of his arrows.

"What's wrong with you?" Izzy asks looking at her brother.

"Nothing," Alec tells her as he takes the arrow from Izzy.

"We're going to a Downworlder's rave. You should be a little more excited," Izzy tells her brother who shakes her head at him.

"It's a mission, not a party," Alec reminds his sister.
"Yeah, whatever," Izzy tells him as she checks out the blades and takes on.

"Before Hope and Clary got here, every day was the same. Go on a mission, kill demons. Go on a mission, kill demons. At least now things are interesting," Izzy tells her brother who looks at her.

"Interesting? Valentine is alive and actively seeking the Cup. He threatens our entire world. And we're helping his daughters. Who, by the way, we have no reason to trust. And who showed up out of nowhere. On top of that, we're gonna end up overpaying some warlock who may or may not have the information we need. So, no, Izzy...I don't find it interesting," Alec rants as Izzy looks at him.

"Whoa! Feel better now?" Izzy asks her brother who shakes his head.

"No, I don't," Alec says making Izzy send him a look.
"Okay, maybe a little," Alec says making her smirk at him.

"You can't keep bottling things up, Alec. It's only a matter of time before they explode. Not the fun kind of explode," Izzy tells him making Alec roll his eyes at her.

"And you can't say having Hope here hasn't been enjoyable. She brings out a side to you that I've never seen before," Izzy tells her brother who shakes his head at her.

"No, she doesn't. She's annoying and a coffee addict who will probably have a heart attack before she's thirty," Alec tells her making Izzy smirk at him.

"Really?" Izzy questions him with a smirk as Hope walks towards the two siblings.

"Hey," Hope tells them as she stands there with an iced coffee making Alec look towards her looking Hope up and down speechless.

"What is something on the dress?" Hope questions him as she spins around making Alec shake his head.

"No. No, you look gorgeous...uhm I mean you look good," Alec says clearing his throat as he nods his head making Hope blush slightly.

"Thank you," Hope tells him making Alec nod his head.

"You might need a weapon. I don't know which one you would like better," Alec tells her after a minute making Hope nod as she begins looking at the weapons.

Izzy looks at her brother with a smirk as she tilts her head making Alec roll his eyes at her before looking back at Hope.

"I never really used a weapon before besides you know the whole if needing to punch someone thing," Hope mutters as she hovers her hands over different weapons.

"And don't think I forgot about your promise Lightwood," Hope tells him making Alec shake his head.

"Once the deadliest person in the Shadowworld is dealt with then I will," Alec tells her making Hope roll her eyes but nod as smiles looking at the weapons before stopping at one.

It was a simple thin silver dagger with an intricately designed hilt making Hope pick it up as she twirled around smiling at the dagger as Alec and Izzy watched her.

"Alright I'm ready," Hope tells them as she places the dagger in her thigh holster as she walks ahead of Alec and Izzy who follows after the girl.

"She's annoying huh?" Izzy questions making Alec glare at her as she laughs at him shaking her head and heading closer to Hope to interlock their arms making Hope smile.

Soon the five shadowhunters arrive at the Downworld rave. Hope stands with Jace and Clary as they wait to enter.

"Alec and Izzy are securing the perimeter," Jace informs the two girls.

"Are you sure this is a good idea? Last time we were here, this place was crawling with vampires," Clary asks Jace anxiously.

"Wait really? Why do I miss all the fun stuff?" Hope questions as she sighs slightly making Jace and Clary send her a look.

"Relax, all Downworlders hang out here. We just came on vampire night," Jace tells Clary after a minute shaking his head at Hope.

"Right. And when is all this gonna sound normal to me?" Clary asks him.

"I don't know," Jace says as Hope shrugs.
"It sounds normal to me," Hope tells them as Izzy and Alec approach them.

"All clear," Alec says as Izzy walks towards Hope and locks arms with her making Hope smile at her as Alec stands right behind Hope.

"Do you think red's my color?" Izzy asks Hope as she looks down at the ruby necklace around her neck.

"Iz my love with a body like yours, everything is your color," Hope tells her with a smile making Izzy smile back at her.

"Good point. Damn, I make this necklace look so good. While you make that dress look amazing," Izzy tells her making Hope smile at her as Alec rolls his eyes at his sister.

"Will you take it off? I'm certain Magnus Bane doesn't want drool on his ruby when we make the exchange," Alec says making Hope look at him with a smirk.

"Are you talking about my dress or the necklace? Because I'm more than sure it wouldn't be smart removing it in the middle of the street but later tonight I might," Hope says winking at Alec who blushes slightly as Clary, Jace, and Izzy laugh making Alec clear his throat and turn to Izzy.

"Can you just give the necklace to Jace?" Alec questions his sister who laughs at him.

"You are such a buzzkill," Izzy tells him as she removes the necklace and gives it to Jace. The group then enters Pandemonium. People were either or both grinding on each other or kissing each other.

"Blend in. But keep your weapons ready," Jace tells them before he pulls Hope and Clary with him while he looks around.

Magnus!" Jace yells once spotting the warlock who stands up looking toward the three.

"Clary Fairchild. You've grown into a beautiful young woman," Magnus says before looking towards Hope closely.

"Hope. You look even more beautiful than the last time I saw you," Magnus tells her as he grabs her hand and kisses it softly making the girl turn as red as her dress.

Jace glares at the warlock as he pulls Hope towards him then glares at Hope for the blush on her cheeks.

"Magnus Bane. So you're the one who stole our memories," Clary says glaring at the warlock.

"At your mother's request. She knew the risk," Magnus tells her before looking at Jace.

"Show me the jewelry, Shadowhunter," Magnus tells Jace who pulls the necklace out and shows it to him. Magnus goes to take it but Jace pulls it back before he can.

"Ooh...give Hope and Clary back their memories, and then you get the jewelry," Jace tells Magnus as Hope pinches the bleached blonde side making Jace glare down at her.

"I have to confirm its authenticity," Magnus tells Jace making Hope slap Jace across the head before grabbing the necklace from him and handing it to Magnus who smiles at her.

"Amor verus numquam moritur," Magnus reads as he examines the necklace.

"True love cannot die," Hope recites making Magnus look up at her and nods his head at the girl.

"Now, it's your turn to pay up," Clary demands making Hope send her sister a look.

"Clary baby sister I love you but give the man a second to reunite with a necklace he lost a long time ago that holds meaning to him," Hope tells Clary who sends her a look before sighing as she nods.

"I wish I could retrieve your memories, but I no longer have them. Either of them," Magnus says looking at the girls after a moment.

"What? Where are they?" Hope and Clary ask him at the same time making Magnus look at them sort of creeped out.

"That was creepy. And Clary I fed yours to a memory demon for safekeeping," Magnus tells the girl.

"And why the hell would you do that?" Jace questions angrily.

"To protect Clary and the Cup. If Valentine ever captured me, he could torture Clary's memories out of me. Just like he tortured Dot," Magnus says making Clary and Hope look at him worriedly.

"Tortured? Wait, is Dot okay?" Hope asks worriedly as she gulps scared of the answer.

"You don't know?" Magnus asks looking at the girls.
"Do we look like two girls who know? Know what?" Hope demands him getting impatient.

"Dot is dead," Magnus says making Hope and Clary stumble back slightly at that with tears in their eyes.

"What? How do you know?" Clary asks him weakly.
"I can't feel her magic anymore. Valentine killed her because she would not betray your mother," Magnus tells the girls sadly as Hope places a hand over her mouth to not cry.

"Oh, my," Hope mutters shaking her head.

"Come with me, Hope Clary. My lair can offer you both protection no Shadowhunter ever could," Magnus tells the girls although mostly looking at Hope making Jace scoff at him.

"No! No, I'm not going anywhere with you. And neither is my sister," Clary says as Hope looks at Magnus's hand and then towards his pleading eyes.

"Do you have coffee and cinnamon rolls?" Hope questions hopefully albeit a little weakly as Jace and Clary send her a look making Hope shrug while Magnus smiles at her softly.

"I do Hope. And don't be a fool, Clary. Your mother would want you to live," Magnus tells the girls. 

"Then help me get my memories back from whatever demon you gave them to," Clary begs Magnus who shakes his head.

"Valentine is hunting you both too. And every moment we're outside my lair's protection is a moment Valentine gets closer to finding us," Magnus tells the two as he creates a Portal making Hope look at it amazed.

"Come with me," Magnus tells the girls with his hand out for them making Jace shake his head at the two.

"I won't offer again," Magnus tells the girls looking toward Hope who is looking at him.

"No. No, I won't hide from my problems and neither should you," Clary tells Magnus as she shakes her head.

"Look out!" Someone yells as an arrow is shot into a member of the circle's chest by Alec who walks towards them standing right behind Hope as he looks at her worriedly.

"Who are you?" Magnus asks looking at Alec and Hope before he begins to walk through the Portal.

"Magnus, wait! You're my only hope," Clary begs him as she clutches onto his jacket.

"Valentine found us. I warned your mother this might happen. Especially with who he will be looking for the most," Magnus tells Clary who looks at him
