PILOT [PART TWO]
___
"Don't you sit your dirty ass down on my seats!"
โ
"Oh, Bite me! I don't care!"
โข โข โข
Juliet and Sam sit in the Impala with the windows rolled down as the sun sits in the sky.
Dean had decided to stop off at a gas station for breakfast and to fill up the tank. He had taken Harlow into the station with him.
Juliet turns the page of the book she's reading as Sam sits in the front, his side door open with his legs sticking out of the Impala, looking through her and Dean's shoebox of cassettes.ย
The brunette looks up from the page she is reading as a childish giggle comes from outside of the Impala. Juliet smiles softly as Harlow runs out of the gas station with Dean chasing her.
Harlow runs up to the car and opens the door to the back but before she can rush inside, Dean scoops her up causing the four-year-old to squeal and giggle more.
"Daddy! Put me down."
"Oh, All right." Dean playfully sighs and sets her inside the back of the Impala as Juliet sets her book down and buckles Harlow into her car seat.
Dean looks to Sammy as his younger brother still goes through the cassette tapes. "Hey!" Sam leans his head back into the car and looks at him.
"You want breakfast?"
Sam shakes his head. "No thanks." The taller brother then goes back to the tapes. Dean nods his head as he passes Juliet a water bottle and bag of chips.
Juliet sets them aside as Dean then passes her Harlow's sippy cup and a bottle of apple juice.
Juliet unscrews the cap before filling the cup up with juice and passes it to Harlow as Dean fills up Baby's gas tank.
"So how'd you pay for that stuff, you guys still running credit card scams?" Sam gestures to the junk food that Dean had brought with him out of the gas station.
The older Winchester puts the nozzle from the pump into the fuel cap before he looks down at his brother. "Yeah, well, hunting ain't exactly a pro ball career."
He then puts the nozzle back on the pump. "Besides, all we do is apply. It's not our fault they send us the cards." Sam looks between Dean and Juliet. "Yeah? And what names did you write on the application this time?"
Sam swings his legs back inside of the Impala and closes the door. "Uh, Burt Aframian." Dean gets into the driver's seat and sets his soda and bag of chips down.
"And his Son Hector."
Juliet jokingly flips her hair. "And his beautiful Daughter-in-law, Hayley."
Sam chuckles as his brother closes the car door.
Dean looks to Juliet in the rearview mirror and winks. The brunette smirks back at him.
The older Winchester looks at Sam. "Scored three cards out of the deal." Sam nods his head. "That sounds about right." The youngest yet taller Winchester brother sighs turning to Dean.
"I swear, man, you've gotta update your cassette tape collection." Juliet leans over the front bench seat and looks down at the shoebox in Sam's lap.
At least a dozen cassettes lay in the box. Some have album art on the boxes and, others are hand-labelled.
Juliet smiles as she spots the Metallica tape. Dean looks to his brother with a raise of his eyebrows. "Why?"
Sam scoffs as he holds up three different cassette tapes. "Black Sabbath? Motรถrhead? Metallica?"
Dean snatches the box labelled Metallica from Sam's hands.
"It's the greatest hits of mullet rock."
Dean turns to Sam. "Well, house rules, Sammy?"
Dean pops the tape into the player. "Driver picks the music..."
"...And shotwun shuts his cakehole!"
The three adults turn to the four-year-old in her car seat. Dean smirks and holds up his hand which Harlow high-fives. "That's right, baby!"
Dean turns and looks at Sam, a smirk on his face. "My kid has been raised well." He then drops the Metallica labelled box back into the shoebox and turns the key in the ignition to start the engine.
"You know, Sammy is a chubby twelve-year-old." Juliet looks at her best friend as she opens her bag of chips. "Correction, Sammy is a 6ft tall giant, who's lanky as hell."
Dean laughs as Sam playfully glares at her in the rearview mirror. Juliet smiles at him as she pops a chip in her mouth. The youngest Winchester sighs turning his head to Dean. "It's Sam, okay?"
The cassette tape begins to play and Dean smirks as he turns up the volume while addressing his brother.
"Sorry, I can't hear you, the music's too loud." Sam scoffs a laugh as he sets the show box down.
Juliet laughs as she unwraps Harlow's blueberry muffin and passes it to the child as Dean drives away.
โข โข โข
Harlow looks out of the car window, watching as a blur of colors and a sign saying 'Jericho 7' rushes past as AC/DC Back in Black now blasts out of the car speakers. The four-year-old looks up as Sam talks on the phone. "Thank you." The youngest Winchester snaps the flip phone shut.
"All right. So, there's no one matching Dad at the hospital or morgue. So that's something I guess."
Harlow's eyes widen at the thought of her grandpa being in the hospital. Dean not noticing his daughter's expression glances over at Sam, then back at the road.
"Grandpa hurt?"
Dean looks at Harlow in the rearview mirror and shakes his head. "No, sweetheart."
"But untle Sammy just phone hospitwal..."
Juliet pulls her daughter to her side and kisses her head. "Don't worry baby. Grandpa is fine." The brunette looks up and shoots a glare at her best friend. "Uncle Sammy is being an idjit."
Sam winces and looks at his niece, giving her a small smile. "He's not hurt angel, promise." Juliet gnaws on her bottom lip at the lie in Sam's sentence.
Truth is, they don't know if he's even alive. Juliet turns to look out the window and spots a bridge with two police cars and several officers on it.
"Dean?"
The older Winchester looks up at the sound of Juliet calling his name.
She looks to the crime scene.
"Check it out."
Dean looks to where Juliet is pointing and nods his head. "I see it." Sam leans forward to get a closer look at the scene as Dean pulls over.
The three adults take a long look as Harlow is more interested in Ellie the elephant. Dean turns off the engine and opens the glove compartment, pulling out a box filled to the brim with a selection of fake ID cards with his and Juliet's faces on.
Some ID's are FBI and DEA. The dirty-blond haired man picks one out before turning to Juliet. "You coming or staying?" Juliet hums in thought before holding her hand out. Dean smirks and passes one of her Fake IDs to her.
Juliet puts the plastic card in the top pocket of the denim jacket she is wearing before turning to Harlow. "You, stay here and don't move and if you see anyone, what do you do?" Harlow smiles up at her mother. "I duck."
"Good girl." The mother kisses Harlow on the head as Dean looks at his brother. "Let's go." The three adults exit the car and walk over to the crime scene, looking as if they belong there.
Juliet looks at the two Police officer's name tags that are displayed on their uniforms.
"You fellas had another one like this just last month, didn't you?"
The leading deputy known as Jaffe looks to Juliet, his gaze lingering on her low-cut black V-neck shirt. Jaffe clears his throat before straightening up from leaning into the blue car, that's windscreen is stained with blood.
"And who are you?"
Juliet flashes her badge, a sweet smile on her face as Dean also flashes his fake badge and glowers from behind her, having caught what the leading deputy was gazing at.
"Federal Marshals."
Jaffe looks between the three suspiciously, crossing his arms. "You three are a little young for Marshals, aren't you?" Juliet smiles as an idea pops into her head. The brunette places her hand on Jaffe's arm and lightly giggles while batting her eyelashes. Jaffe's eyes become transfixed on her.
"Thanks, that's awfully sweet of ya to say."
Dean's mouth opens in shock as he looks from Jaffe to his girlfriend. Sam noticing the look on his brother's face, tries to hold back a laugh. Dean glares at his brother before storming over to the car that's stained with red. "You did have another just like this, correct?"
Juliet drops her hand as Jaffe turns his attention to Dean and nods his head. "Yeah, that's right. About a mile up the road. There've been others before that."
"So, this victim, you knew him?"
The leading deputy nods his head at Sam's question. "Town like this, everybody knows everybody." He then looks over the three once again as Dean circles the car, looking around.
Juliet walks toward him and helps.
"Any connection between the victims, besides that they're all men?"
Jaffe shakes his head. "No. Not so far as we can tell." Juliet looks up. "So what's the theory? I mean all of these men going missing, you're bound to have a theory." Jaffe shrugs his shoulders as Sam goes over to Dean and Juliet.
"You'd think that, but honestly, we don't know. Serial murder? Kidnapping ring?"
"Well, that is exactly the kind of crack police work I'd expect out of you guys."
Sam stomps on Dean's foot as Juliet elbow's her boyfriend in the side, harshly. The two best friend's then discreetly high-five each other behind their backs. Jaffe looks to the three with an eyebrow raised. Sam gives the leading deputy a small smile. "Thank you for your time."
Sam starts to walk away with Dean and Juliet following. Jaffe watches them leave as Juliet sends a warm smile to the officers they pass. "Gentlemen." The brunette then snorts as Dean smacks Sam on the head, the taller brother's hand flying up to soothe the pain of the hit.
"Ow! What was that for?"
"Why'd you have to step on my foot." Juliet laughs from beside the brother's and Dean looks at his girlfriend and points a finger at her. "And you. Why'd you elbow me?" Juliet stops laughing as she and Sam look at the older Winchester.
"Why do you have to talk to the police like that?"
Juliet and Sam blink as Dean glances between the two. "Please never speak at the same time again, it's creepy." Juliet rolls her eyes as Dean moves in front of the two, forcing them to stop walking. "Come on. They don't really know what's going on. We're all alone on this. I mean, if we're going to find Dad we've got to get to the bottom of this thing ourselves."
Juliet notices the sheriff along with two FBI agents heading towards them and clears her throat and looks over her boyfriend's shoulder. Dean turns and glances down to the Sheriff's name tag, seeing the words 'Pierce' sewn onto his uniform.
"Can I help you guys?"
Dean shakes his head. "No, sir, we were just leaving."
As the two FBI agents walk past Juliet, she nods at each of them. "Agent Mulder. Agent Scully." Dean covers up his laugh with a cough at Juliet's reference to the X-Files directed at the agents. The three head past the Sheriff, who turns to watch them go.
Dean glances at Juliet. "What was that back there?" Juliet raises an eyebrow at her boyfriend. "What was what where?"
"That flirting with Jaffe."
The brunette glances at her boyfriend and grabs Dean's hand. "He was getting suspicious of us from the get-go, I decided to lead the attention elsewhere."
Dean doesn't say anything. Juliet sighs and stops in front of Dean, leaning up to kiss him which catches him off guard.
The older Winchester wraps his arms around his girlfriend's waist and brings her closer to him, humming into the kiss.
A throat being cleared snaps the two out of their moment. Dean looks to Sam with a frown on his face. "Dude."
Juliet laughs and pats Dean on the arm before continuing to walk to the Impala, Sam and Dean behind her, the latter checking her out as she walks.
The three adults get into the car. Harlow glares at her father as he sits in the driver's seat, before hitting the back of his head, hard.
Sam smirks as Dean turns to his daughter a look of disbelief on his face. "What was that for?!"
"For hitting Untle Sammy! Hitting people is bad!"
Juliet can't hold back her laugh as Dean goes quiet, not knowing what to say. The older Winchester grumbles and turns back around and starts up the engine of the Impala before driving away.
"How does it feel to be told off by a four-year-old?"
Dean looks at Juliet in the rearview mirror.
"Shut up."
Juliet laughs harder.
โข โข โข
Dean is holding Harlow's hand as the three adults plus the young child are standing across the street, watching as a young woman is tacking up posters with Troy's โthe young man who was killed last nightโ face on it, the caption of the poster reads...
MISSING
TROY SQUIRE
"I'll bet you that's her."
Sam nods his head.
"Yeah."
Dean, still holding Harlow's hand, along with Sam and Juliet cross the street and walk up to the young woman. "You must be Amy." The said young woman looks to Juliet and nods her head. "Yeah."
"Yeah, Troy told us about you. We're his Aunt and Uncles." He then gestures to himself and Sam. "I'm Dean, this is Sammy." Juliet shoots the young woman a warm smile. "And I'm Juliet." She then points out Harlow who clings to Dean. "And that cutie is Troy's cousin, Harlow."
Amy smiles down at Harlow and the young girl hides her face in her Dad's jeans in response.
"He never mentioned you to me."
Amy then walks away with the three adults and young girl walking with her.
"Well, that's Troy, I guess." Juliet clears her throat and looks at Amy. "We're not actually around that much, we're up in Modesto." Sam nods his head. "So, we're looking for him too, and we're kinda asking around."
Another woman walks up to Amy, her name being Rachel, and puts a hand on her arm. "Hey, are you okay?" Amy nods her head. "Yeah." Juliet looks between the two with a raise of an eyebrow. Sam also looks between the two. "You mind if we ask you a couple questions?"
Amy shakes her head as they all make their way into the nearest diner, another poster with the words 'Missing Troy Squire.' flaps in the breeze as they make their way inside.
โข โข โข
Dean and Sam sit opposite Rachel and Amy as Juliet and Harlow sit in the booth behind them, Harlow eating some fries.
"Mommy?"
Juliet looks up at the sound of her daughter's voice and smiles as Harlow hands her a fry which she accepts. "Thank you, baby." The brunette drops the fry into her mouth as Harlow smiles at her mother.
"Is grandpa going to come back?"
Juliet stops mid-chew and looks at her daughter, a serious expression on her face. The twenty-three-year-old swallows her food before answering. "Of course he will, why do you think he won't?" Harlow looks down and plays with Ellie the elephant's ears.
Juliet knowing that her daughter is hesitant to tell her, places her hand on Harlow's. "Sweetheart?" The four-year-old looks up. "Because he weft with no bye-bye." Juliet's heart breaks at her daughter's sad expression.
The young mother gets up from her seat and moves to sit next to Harlow.
Juliet brings the young girl into her arms and strokes her hair. "Harlow, he'll be back." The four-year-old looks up at her Mom. "But, if he's coming back, why is Daddy and Untle Sammy looking for him?" Juliet sighs. "Because Daddy and Uncle Sammy are worried as well." She then smiles softly at her daughter, "But, Harls, I don't want you to worry. Just know that he loves you very much and I'm sure it was very hard for him to leave."
Harlow smiles at Juliet. "Otay, I won't worry. I know grandpa wove's me." Juliet smiles down at her. "Good girl. Now eat your fries." Harlow looks down at her food before looking up to her Mother. "I need twoilet."
The brunette nods her head, scooting out of the booth that they are seated in to allow her daughter to get up. "Do you need me to go with you?" Harlow shakes her head. "Mommy, I'm four." The little girl holds up four fingers. "Fwive tomowwow. I'm a big girl."
Juliet nods her head as Harlow makes her way to the diner toilets. Not even half a second later, the four-year-old comes running back. "Tan you hold Ellie?" Juliet nods her head and takes Ellie the elephant from Harlow as the young girl turns back around to go to the toilet.
Juliet giggles before looking down at the teddy in her hands and fiddles with the elephant's ear. "Where's Harls?" Juliet looks up at the sound of Dean's voice and see's him sitting across from her. "She's gone to the toilet, she didn't want my help, said she's now a big girl." Dean chuckles he sighs sadly. "I can't believe she's turning five tomorrow."
Juliet reaches her arm out and grabs Dean's hand. "Neither can I." The brunette then raises an eyebrow. "Do you think she'll like her birthday present?"
Dean stays silent for a moment before nodding his head.
"I think she'll love it."
It had taken the two a while to pick out the perfect gift for their daughter. They didn't want to buy her something from a gas station, they wanted to buy her something that she can cherish.
Juliet then notices her best friend isn't with her boyfriend.
"Where's Sammy?"
Dean nods his head over to the line-up at the counter. Juliet looks over to see Sam awkwardly waiting in line and snorts. She then turns back to Dean and gasps as he now holds Harlow's leftover fries and scarfs them down.
"Dean!"
The said grown man looks up at his girlfriend, a fry hanging from his mouth. "What?" Juliet motions to the fries. "Harlow will know and she will kill you." Dean scoffs. "I helped give her life, she won't kill me, besides I'm not scared of my own daughter."
"I'm back."
Dean's eyes widen at the sound of Harlow's voice and quickly swallows the mouthful of fries and pushes the basket that the fries had come in, over to Juliet. The said brunette looks up at Dean, a pissed off look on her face.
Dean ignores it and opens his arms. "Harlow!" The little girl giggles as she jumps onto her father's lap. "Daddy!"
Harlow looks down at the now, little amount of fries left in the basket.
Knowing that the amount in the basket is less than what she left in there, Harlow looks up to her father with an eyebrow raised. "Did you eat my fwies?" Dean immediately shakes his head. "I would never!" He then points to Juliet. "Your mother on the other hand..."
Juliet glares at Dean over Harlow's head but when the little girl turns to her mother, Juliet's glare disappears and is replaced with a faux guilty expression as she passes Ellie the elephant back to her.
"Sorry sweetheart. Uncle Sammy is buying some more food though, why don't you go put your order in?"
Harlow takes her stuffed elephant and nods her head before running over to her uncle.
Dean shoots Juliet a smile, knowing it will make her swoon. Juliet sighs but on the inside, her body reacts. "What did you find out from Amy and Rachel?"
"Turns out that there is a local legend around here." Juliet raises her eyebrow, intrigued as she pops another fry into her mouth knowing that her daughter won't care since she's getting more food. "And?"
"A woman apparently got murdered out on Centennial decades ago and the legend goes that she's still out there and she hitchhikes, and whoever picks her up, they disappear forever." Juliet looks at her boyfriend. "So it's a spirit?" Dean shrugs his shoulders. "Think so. We're gonna go to the library and get more information."
Juliet nods her head as Sam joins the two, bags full of food in hand. Dean's eyes widen. "Dude, there are only four of us." Sam shrugs. "Most of it's Harlow's." Dean looks at his daughter. "What'd you get?"
Harlow smiles cheekily. "Big fwies, chocolate milkshake, chicken nuggies, a spwinkle doughnut and chicken stwipes. Oh! And apple pie."
Dean looks to Juliet who's smirking and then moves his eyes back to his daughter. "You tryna bankrupt me, kid?"
Harlow blinks up at her father. "Daddy, I'm four. I don't know what bankwupt means." Juliet laughs as she and Dean exit the booth and follow after Sam.
Juliet grabs Harlow's hand as Dean wraps his arm around the brunette's waist.
Juliet smirks. "Karma's a bitch, huh?" Dean squeezes her side in warning and mutters a quick 'Shut up' as they cross the street.
โข โข โข
Sam, Dean and Juliet sit at the library computers, researching information about the local legend Rachel had told them about.
A web browser is displayed on the screen with the words 'Female murder hitchhiking' Juliet watches as Dean clicks the search button and shakes her head when nothing comes up.
Harlow stirs on her mother's lap. Juliet smiles down at her sleeping daughter as she brushes some of her brownish-red locks back. The brunette looks to Dean. "Try replacing 'Hitchhiking' with 'Centennial Highway'?"
Dean does as his girlfriend requests but the search results are the same. Dean turns to Juliet and huffs at her. The brunette raises an eyebrow at his actions. Sam sighs and looks from the computer screen then to his brother.
"Let me try."
Sam goes to take over but Dean smacks his hand away causing Sam to look at him in bewilderment.
"I got it."
Sam rolls his eyes and shoves Dean's chair out of the way and takes over. Juliet laughs as Dean rolls his chair back over to his younger brother and hits his shoulder, a pissed off look on his face.
"Dude! You're such a control freak."
Sam ignores his brother's comment and glances at Dean and Juliet before looking back to the computer screen. "So angry spirits are born out of violent death, right?" Juilet nods her head. "Yeah. What are you thinking, Sammy?"
"I'm thinking maybe, it's not a murder."
Juliet watches as Sam deletes the word 'Murder' and replaces it with 'Suicide' and clicks the search button. Juliet smirks at Dean as one article entitled 'Suicide on Centennial' shows on screen.
"You're one smart cookie."
Dean rolls his eyes at Juliet's comment and glances at Sam as he opens the article.
Juliet passes a still sleeping Harlow to Dean as she leans forward to read the words displayed on the screen.
Noticing the date of the article, she turns to Sam and Dean. "This was written in 1981." The brunette then starts reading the words out loud. "Constance Welch, twenty-four years old, jumps off Sylvania Bridge, drowns in river."
Dean threads his fingers through Harlow's hair as he looks at Juliet. "Does it say why she did it?" The young mother hums as she scrolls through the article before nodding her head. "Yeah." Dean raises an eyebrow. "What?" Juliet looks to Sam. "You want to do the honours?"
The younger Winchester smirks as he looks to the computer screen. "An hour before they found her, she calls 911. Apparently, her two little kids are in the bathtub. She leaves them alone for a minute, and when she comes back, they aren't breathing."
Juliet looks to Harlow as Sam reads out the article, her heartbreaking at the thought of losing her daughter like the way Constance lost her children.
Dean, noticing his girlfriend's expression, grabs her hand and squeezes it. Juliet meets his green eyes and sends him a small smile letting him know she's okay.
The brunette turns back to Sam. "So they both die?" The giant nods his head in confirmation as Dean raises his eyebrows. "Hm." Juliet starts to read the rest of the article. "'Our babies were gone, and Constance just couldn't bear it,' Said husband Joseph Welch."
Juliet then notices a picture in the middle of the article that shows Joseph Welch's photo next to another picture that is of Sylvania bridge, the place where Troy's car was found.
Juliet turns to her Winchester boys, a dark eyebrow raised. "That bridge look familiar to you?"
Sam and Dean look at the picture Juliet has pointed out before the three adults all look to one another.
โข โข โข
"So this is where Constance took the swan dive."
The three had arrived at the bridge, deciding to wait until nighttime, knowing the crime scene would have wrapped up by then.
Harlow lays in her car seat in the Impala, still asleep. Dean made sure to keep the windows open a smidge and to lock the doors.
Juliet walks up to Sam and Dean and peers over the railing and watches as waves crash into each other down below. "So, you think Dad would have been here?" Juliet moves away as the conversation moves to John.
Every time the brother's mention John, her stomach flips and not in a good way.
The guilt is eating her up from the inside out and all she wants to do is tell Sam and Dean that she knows where he is and what he's really doing but she doesn't, knowing that the two would go after him and John doesn't want that.
Dean looks to Sam and shrugs. "Well, he's chasing the same story and we're chasing him." The eldest of the two brother's continues to walk down the bridge with Sam following him. "Okay, so now what?"
"Now we keep digging until we find him." He then glances at Sam. "Might take a while." The younger brother sighs. "Dean, I told you, I've gotta get back by Monday-" Dean stops walking and turns around and stares at his brother. "Monday. Right. The interview."
Sam nods his head.
"Yeah."
Juliet groans quietly as she feels the tension start to spread around the two brothers. She's always hated it when they argue. Dean shakes his head as he looks to the ground and then back up at Sam. "Yeah, I forgot. You're really serious about this, aren't you? You think you're going to become some lawyer? Marry your girl?"
Sam shrugs. "Maybe? Why not? Don't you want that with Jules? To marry her and eventually settle down with her and Harlow?" Dean nods his head. "Yeah, but Sam, with the life we live...we could never have that kind of life."
Juliet shuts her eyes knowing that Dean is right. They were in too deep now.
"Does Jessica know the truth? I mean, does she know about the things you've done?" Sam takes a step closer to Dean as he shakes his head. "No, and she's not ever going to know."
Dean scoffs at his little brother. "Well, that's healthy. You can pretend all you want, Sammy. But sooner or later you're going to have to face up to who you really are."ย
The dirty-blond resumes walking.
Juliet hasn't moved from her spot.
Shivers run down her body as goosebumps start to appear on her arms. Her breath hitches as the hairs on her arms and the back of her neck stand to attention.
The two brothers don't notice.
Sam scoffs as he follows behind Dean. "And who's that?" The older Winchester turns to Sam and gives him a look like it's obvious. "You're one of us." Sam's eyes widen as his brother's words hit him, and he hurries to get in front of him, shaking his head.
"No. I'm not like you. This is not going to be my life."
Dean scoffs. "You have a responsibility to-"
"To Dad? And his crusade? If it weren't for pictures I wouldn't even know what Mom looks like." Juliet's heart breaks at the truth in Sam's words, she looks to her best friend as he continues speaking what's in his heart. "And what difference would it make? Even if we do find the thing that killed her, Mom's gone and she isn't coming back."
Dean grabs Sam by the collar of his shirt and in a blink of an eye, he has his younger brother pinned and shoved up against the railing of the bridge with a look of fury on his face. Juliet rushes over to the two.
"Both of you, stop! Do you think Mary would want this? Her Son's fighting."
Dean looks to his girlfriend, her words cutting deep, before looking back to Sam, pausing before speaking. "Don't talk about her like that." He then releases Sam as Juliet sighs and looks to her right but stops short when she meets the lifeless eyes of a deathly pale woman wearing white.
"Dean!"
Hearing the underlay of fear in Juliet's voice, Dean turns to her and follows where her eyes are looking and spots the ghost of Constance Welch standing on the edge of the bridge.
"Sam."
The younger brother moves to stand next to Dean and watches as Constance looks over at the three of them, then steps forward and off of the bridge and down below.
The three run to where Constance just was and look over the black railings.
"Where'd she go?"
"I don't know."
Juliet stands straight as the Impala's engine starts from behind them.
"Oh no."
The brunette then turns and shields her eyes as the bright lights from the headlights shine on her face. Dean and Sam also turn to look, the former with a confused look on his face.
"What the-"
Sam turns to Dean with an eyebrow raised. "Who's driving your car?" Juliet's heart drops to her stomach as Dean pulls out the car keys from his jean pocket and jingles them. She turns back to the car as it jerks into motion, heading straight for them as Harlow's screams can be heard.
"Harlow! No!"
Juliet goes to run-up to the sleek black Impala but Dean, already thinking ahead, rushes up to her and pushes her in front of him. "Juliet! Go! Go!" The brunette hesitantly picks up her pace and starts to run alongside the two brothers.
The car starts to pick up speed until it's moving faster than the three adults.
When the car gets too close, Sam, Dean and Juliet dive over the railing.
The car comes to a halt.
โข โข โข
Sam hangs onto the ledge of the bridge, grunting as he pulls himself up.
The younger Winchester rushes to the Impala and quickly opens the door to the back of the car, hearing Harlow's hysteric cries from inside. He unbuckles his niece and pulls her to his chest, gently hushing her.
The youngest of the brothers moves back to the railing and looks over after noticing that Dean and Juliet aren't near him.
"Dean! Juliet!"
Down below a filthy Dean and Juliet emerge from the water, both annoyed. The two crawl out of the water and onto the mud, panting. Dean looks up at his brother. "What?"
"You both alright?"
Dean huffs and holds up one of his hands in an A-Ok sign as Juliet throws him a thumb up.
"We're super."
Sam laughs in relief as Dean stands up, pulling Juliet with him. The brunette looks up to her best friend. "Where's Harlow?" Detecting the urgency in her voice, Sam is quick to answer. "She's fine! She's with me."
Juliet sighs in relief as she tries to slow down her frantic beating heart as she and Dean make their way to the top of the bridge.
โข โข โข
"Your car alright?"
Dean turns to Sam as he slams the hood of his car closed and leans on it. "Yeah, whatever she did to it, seems alright now. That Constance chick, what a bitch!" Dean yells.
Juliet bounces Harlow in her arms, the little girl not caring that her mother is covered in mud, just wanting to be in the arms that bring her comfort.
The brunette glares at Dean. "Oh that is so you isn't it?" Dean turns his head to his girlfriend, seeing her glare trained on him. "What's that supposed to mean?"
Juliet hands Harlow to Sam as she whimpers. "I mean, you go straight to your car first. No regard for your daughter!" Dean sighs and moves closer to Juliet and goes to put his hand on her arm but she slaps it away. "Don't touch me."
"Juliet! Come on."
"You pulled me away before I could even get to her!" Dean scoffs as Juliet opens the back door of the Impala. "You would have died! I did you a favour!" The brunette stops and slams the door closed before storming over to Dean and jabbing a finger into his chest. "I could have gotten to her!
"Oh be realistic!"
"You be realistic!"
Juliet then walks back to the car.
"Don't you sit your dirty ass down on my seats!"
The brunette opens the door and looks up at Dean. "Oh, bite me! I don't care!" she then gets in and slams the door shut.
Dean sighs as Sam settles on the hood next to him and points behind him to where Juliet was standing. "Is she going to be okay?" Dean nods his head as Harlow reaches for her father. "Yeah, she gets like that sometimes."
Dean clears his throat. "It's, uh, the stress of hunting."
Sam nods his head as he passes Harlow over to Dean. "Well, she doesn't want us digging around, that's for sure." Dean looks at his brother confused. "Who, Juliet?" Sam chuckles and shakes his head. "No, Constance." He then looks to his older brother, a teasing smirk on his lips. "So, where's the job go from here, genius?"
Dean throws one arm up in frustration as his other arm is secured around Harlow. He then tries his best to flick the mud off his hands as Sam sniffs the air before looking at Dean but before he can utter a word, Harlow pulls a disgusted face and looks up at her father.
"Daddy, you smell like a twoilet."
Sam laughs as Dean looks down before smirking and holding his daughter closer to his chest causing her to squirm and giggle. "Swop!"
Dean laughs but stops trying to get her muddy. He then looks down and meets his daughter's identical green eyes. "You okay, kid?" Harlow frowns and looks down before looking back up at her Dad.
"Mommy mad?"
Dean nods his head.
"Yeah."
"With me?"
Dean is quick to shake his head. "No baby, never with you. Mommy is mad at me." Harlow pulls a face. "Oh, Daddy's in trouble." Sam chuckles as Harlow drags out the 'oh' in her sentence. Dean sighs.
"You can say that again, Harls."
His daughter goes to do just that but Dean puts a hand over her mouth.
"I didn't mean literally."
He then pulls his hand away and Harlow makes a disgusted expression as some of the mud from Dean's hand has gotten onto her face.
โข โข โข
Dean has stopped off at a random gas station as Sam had to go to the toilet. Juliet and the dirty-blonde haired man haven't talked since the brunette blew up which caused the two to have a little spat.
Juliet felt guilty for taking all of her pent up stress out on Dean, it wasn't his fault.
Swallowing down her stubbornness, Juliet looks at Dean as she runs her hands through her sleeping daughter's hair.
"I'm sorry."
Dean looks up and turns his head to face Juliet, she continues with her apology. "I shouldn't have blown up on you like that and I know it's no excuse..." The brunette takes a deep breath in through her nose. "...I'm just so stressed Dean, with John not calling a-and with the not knowing whenever he's hurt or not..." Tears start to pool in her brown eyes and a broken sob escapes her lips.
Dean's eyes widen as he notices the tears rolling down her cheeks. Juliet isn't a crier, so when she does cry, you know she's either really stressed or upset.
The hunter grabs his girlfriend's hand as she tells him what's been on her mind since John left.
Well, some of the things that have been on her mind.
"A-and with Harlow being in danger like that, I guess it was the final push over the edge." Juliet lets out a heavy sigh as she looks into Dean's forest green eyes that always seem to calm her down.
"Jules, it's okay. I thought something was up with you. You haven't been acting like yourself, anyone can see that." The green-eyed man smiles softly at his girlfriend before he leans forward and places his hand on her blotchy, tear-stained cheek, using his thumb to wipe away her remaining tears.
"All is forgiven, always."
Juliet smiles and catches his lips with hers. Dean chuckles into the kiss as he tries his best to wrap his arm around her.
The sound of the passenger door opening causes the two to pull away and turn to see Sam getting into the car, a wide smile on his face. The younger Winchester brother looks at the couple as he shuts the door. "You two made up, then?"
Dean turns around and turns the keys in the ignition, starting the engine. He glances to his younger brother. "Yeah." He winks at Juliet through the rearview mirror.
"Where to now?"
Juliet sighs and glances down at all the mud caking her clothes and arms from when she and Dean had jumped into the freezing cold water to get away from the crazy ghost lady. She looks at Dean. "I don't know about you, but I could really use a shower."
Sam chuckles his head. "So motel?" Juliet nods her head. "Motel."
Dean then puts the car into drive and pulls out of the gas station, heading to the nearest motel.
โข โข โข
As Dean parks the car, Harlow wakes from her slumber. The Hunter and Huntress turn to their daughter and smile.
"Morning, baby."
Harlow looks up at her father as she rubs the sleep from her green eyes. "Morning Daddy. Where awe we?" Juliet brushes her daughter's hair back as she softly smiles. "At a motel, need to get you cleaned up."
Harlow looks down at the mud that covers her clothes and skin. The little girl huffs as she looks at her father, a frown twitching at her lips. "Tanks Daddy, now I have to have a bath." Dean laughs as he pulls the keys from the ignition.
"Don't frown, sweetheart, it's your birthday after all."
The frown is wiped from the young girl's face at the mention of today being her birthday. Harlow looks to her mother. "I'm fwive now?" Juliet chuckles as she nods her head. "Happy Birthday, sweetie."
Dean gets out of the car as Sam turns and smiles at his only niece. "Happy birthday, Angel." The now five-year-old turns to her uncle and smiles. "Tank you, untle Sammy."
The youngest Winchester then shrieks as Dean opens the door to her side and scoops her up and places kisses all over her face, not taking notice of the dried pieces of mud that sticks to her face.
"Happy fifth Birthday, Harls."
He then looks down at her, a faux frown on his lips. "You need to stop growing." Harlow giggles. "Silly daddy, I can't swop ageing." Juliet laughs as she and Sam step out of the Impala, the former sighing as she stretches her body.
Dean sets Harlow down and she immediately takes his hand as Juliet takes her daughter's other hand. With the little girl now holding both of her parent's hands, the four make their way into the Motel.

Dean sends the man who's working on reception a smile as he slams his VersaBank Mastercard down onto the desk.
"One room please."
The clerk picks up the card after looking between the Winchester family, three of which, are covered in mud. The elderly man looks down at the bank card in his hands before looking back up at the family of four with an eyebrow raised. "You guys having a reunion or something?"
The three adults glance at each other, confused frowns on their faces, before looking back to the clerk. Juliet smiles warmly at the man behind the desk.
"What do you mean?"
"I had another guy, Burt Aframian. He came and bought out a room for the whole month."
Juliet and Dean share a glance before looking to Sam, all of them sharing a knowing look. The brunette lets go of Harlow's hand and walks over to the check-in desk, smiling.
"You don't happen to know the room number, do you?"
The clerk nods his head.
โข โข โข
After being given the number to the room John had stayed in, the small family grab their bags from the trunk of the Impala before making their way to the room that Juliet had gotten the number for.
The brunette woman and her boyfriend cover Sam as the taller Winchester picks the lock as quickly as he can.
It doesn't take long.
Sam stands up as the motel door swings open, the brown-eyed Winchester hands Juliet her lock picking kit back, sending her a small smile as he does.
The two walk into the now unlocked motel room with Harlow following her Mother and Uncle.
Juliet turns back as she sees Dean still standing outside the door with his back turned.
She reaches her arm out and grabs the back of his leather jacket, dragging him inside causing him to yelp in surprise.
Juliet then slams the door closed and turns around but stops short when she notices every wall is covered in newspaper clippings, hand-written notes, maps and printouts of articles, all of them with information on them.
"Woah."
Juliet nods her head. "Woah indeed, Sammy."
Dean moves and turns on the light by the bed. Juliet watches as he picks up a half-eaten hamburger that's sitting there. The twenty-three-year-old steps over the line of salt that's on the floor. Sam does the same.
"You eat that and we're not kissing ever again." Dean, who's lifted the burger to his nose, sniffs the gone-off burger before turning to his girlfriend. "I wasn't gonna eat it." Juliet raises an eyebrow and purses her lips. "Uh-huh. Dean, you'd eat anything that you deem edible, apart from healthy food." The older Winchester pulls a face at the mention of what he calls, 'Rabbit food.'
"One day you'll regret it because it'll come back and bite you in the ass."
Dean rolls his eyes at Juliet's words as he sets the burger down. The brunette moves to the books that are stacked on top of the motel bed.
"I don't think he's been here for a couple of days at least."
Sam fingers the salt on the floor and looks up at his brother. "Salt, cats-eye shells...he was worried. Trying to keep something from coming in." Juliet gnaws on her bottom lip as she spots a sticky note on one of the books.
She picks it up and immediately recognises the messy handwriting on the paper.
'I'm closing in on it. Do not tell Dean.'
Juliet sighs and rolls her eyes as she crumples up the sticky note and puts it in the back pocket of her skinny jeans. 'Believe me, John, I won't no matter how much I want to.'
Dean looks at the papers taped to the wall, not having noticed Juliet's change in mood. Sam looks over at him as Harlow looks at all of the papers on the wall as well. Juliet notices this and covers her daughter's eyes with her hand causing the little girl to sigh.
"What have you got here?"
Dean glances at his brother before looking back at the papers. "Centennial Highway victims." Sam nods his head as he also glances at all the information displayed in front of him. Juliet's eyes also scan over the information of the victims.
"I don't get it. I mean, different men, different jobs-" Sam crosses the room towards his brother as he continues talking. "-ages, ethnicities." The older Winchester looks between Sam and Juliet before looking back to the wall of information. "There's always a connection, right? What do these guys have in common?"
While Dean talks, Sam looks at the papers taped to the other walls, Juliet doing the same but not before instructing Harlow to keep her eyes covered.
Her eyes skim over the words.
The papers hold information about a Bell Witch, two people being skinned alive, a skeletal person blowing a horn at several scared people with the note 'Mortis Danse' there's also a column 'bout 'Devils + Demons.' and another about 'Sirens, Witches, the possessed.'
Her eyes move to a wooden pentacle and a note that says 'The woman in white.' that's above a printout of the Jericho Herald article on Constance's suicide, the same article that the three adults had found on the computer in the library.
Juliet looks back at the Winchester boys. "John figured it out."
Deans turns and looks at his girlfriend. "What do you mean?" Juliet points to the papers she had just read. "He found the same article we did." Sam takes a closer look at the articles taped on the wall and nods his head. "Constance Welch. She's the woman in white."
Dean turns back to the photos of Constance's victims, a smirk on his face. "You sly dogs." Juliet rolls her eyes as Dean turns back to his family. "All right, so if we're dealing with a woman in white, Dad would've found the corpse and destroyed it."
Sam shrugs. "She might have another weakness." Juliet moves her head from side to side. "John would want to make sure." Dean crosses the room to Juliet and Sam as he nods his head.
He slings his arm over Juliet's shoulders.
"Jules is right. Dad'd dig her up. Does it say where she's buried?" Sam shakes his head as Juliet moves to Harlow and picks her up. "No, not that I can tell. If I were Dad, though, I'd go ask her husband."
Sam taps the picture of Joeseph Welch.
"If he's still alive."
Juliet looks between the two brothers. "While you two do that, I'm gonna go and give the Birthday girl a bath." Juliet looks down at Harlow and shakes her head when she sees the frown on her daughter's face. "You're not getting out of it."
Harlow, who had gone to open her mouth, shuts it. Dean smiles at the brunette. "Okay, I'll be in, in a minute." Juliet nods her head as she makes her way to the bathroom and shuts the door behind her before turning on the taps to start running her daughter's bath.
โข โข โข
Juliet laughs as Harlow splashes her for what's got to be the fifth time. "You keep that up and you'll regret it."
Harlow and Juliet keep eye contact for a second. Green eyes peering into brown eyes.
Then Harlow splashes her mother once more.
Juliet shakes her head. "Okay, that's it." The young mother then splashes water onto Harlow causing the girl to squeal and splashback at her mother.
That's how Dean finds the two.
The older Winchester laughs as he looks down at Juliet, her clothes soaked through.
The brunette looks up and snorts as Dean almost slips over from the water on the floor.
"What's going on in here?"
Harlow giggles once more before splashing her father in the face. Dean sighs and wipes under his eyes before giving his daughter a deadpan look. "Cheers, kid."
Juliet smiles as she turns to Dean. "Can you pass me the shampoo?" Her boyfriend nods his head and grabs the Strawberry scented bottle and passes it to his girlfriend before crouching down next to her, water soaking into his jeans as he does.
Juliet squirts the shampoo in her hands and lathers the liquid up before massaging it into her daughter's hair.
"You and Sam make up?"
Harlow looks between her parents as Juliet starts off the conversation. She watches as her father nods his head. "Yeah, said he didn't mean what he said about Mom."
Juliet nods her head as she gives Dean a knowing look, a smirk appearing on her face as she grabs the plastic cup to start rinsing the soap out of her daughter's hair.
"I'm gonna assume that he didn't have the chance to finish off his apology and you two made up by calling each other a bitch and a jerk?"
Juliet says the last part quietly as Dean laughs and nods his head. "You're assumption would be correct." She shakes her head as she then grabs the conditioner, but before she can squirt it on her hands, Dean snatches it from her. The brunette raises an eyebrow as she looks at her boyfriend, silently asking why he did that.
"I wanna do it."
Juliet shrugs her shoulders but moves out of the way so Dean can condition Harlow's hair.
"Do you think we will find him? John I mean."
Dean looks at his girlfriend in thought as he massages the conditioner into Harlow's hair.
He remains silent for a moment before nodding his head.
"No one can disappear from the face of Earth, Jules."
Juliet laughs. "Yeah, I know...it's just, it's John we're talking about. The best Hunter there is, if he doesn't want to be found then he'll make damn sure that he isn't."
Dean pauses and turns to Juliet, his eyebrows furrowed.
"Are you changing your mind about finding him?"
The brunette shakes her head. "No, of course not."
'I just don't want you to hate me once you find out the truth.'
Deans hums in thought before dropping the subject and turning back to his daughter to wash the soap from her hair.
After making sure no traces of mud is left on Harlow, Dean lifts her out of the bath as Juliet wraps a fluffy white towel around her, rubbing her daughter's arms to keep her warm.
She sighs as she looks at the soaked bathroom floor.
Dean, noticing his girlfriends look, smiles. "I'll clean up in here, you can go and sort out Miss Messy here."
Harlow giggles as her father kisses her cheek before kissing Juliet and whispering in her ear.
"And after you've finished, I'll be waiting in here with a warm shower running that the two of us can share."
Juliet looks up at the suggestive expression on Dean's face and bites her lip.
"Why wait?"
Dean furrows his eyebrows as Juliet walks over and opens the bathroom door, a wide smile on her face as she looks to her best friend.
"Sammy, you know how I'm your bestest friend, ever?"
Sam raises an eyebrow.
"Yes?"
"Can you mind Harlow, while Dean and I get cleaned up?"
Sam looks down to his niece before looking back up at Juliet and nods his head. "Sure."
"Great!"
Juliet passes Harlow to her uncle before slamming the bathroom door closed and locking it.
Sam looks down at Harlow who sits in his arms, fluffy towel still wrapped around her small frame with her hair dripping wet.
The younger Winchester brother pulls a face at his niece as he hears giggles come from behind the locked bathroom door as the shower can be heard.
"How about we watch some Tv?" Harlow nods her head as Sam makes his way to the television, muttering under his breath.
"With the volume all the way up."
โข โข โข
Harlow sits and watches tv as Sam paces around the motel room, holding his phone. She watches her uncle as he sits on the motel bed and listens to a voicemail from Jessica. Deciding not to bother Sam, the five-year-old stands up and moves away from the Tv, that's playing a re-run of scooby-doo, as something catches her eye.
The little Winchester moves towards the mirror and reaches up on her tippy toes and smiles in victory as her little hands grab the picture that was wedged in the corner of the motel mirror frame.
The little girl cries out as she loses her balance and falls onto the floor.
The bathroom door opens and Dean and Juliet walkout, both now dressed. The two wear relaxed smiles on their faces, both of them breathing heavily from their recent...activities.
Dean turns and spots Harlow on the floor, a chuckle leaving his lips. "You okay, Harls?" The said young girl holds her hand up and grabs onto the comforter of the bed, hauling herself up. She blows a breath through her mouth and looks up to her mother and father, a wide smile on her face.
"I'm otay!"
Juliet laughs and it's then she notices that her daughter is holding something.
"What you got there?"
Harlow holds up the photo and Juliet gently takes it from her hands. She looks down and smiles a small smile as she holds the picture of a younger John Winchester sitting on the hood of the Impala with a smile on his face as a younger Dean sits next to him with a baseball cap on his head. Her eyes move to a younger Sam, who sits on John's lap.
Juliet grins as she sees a younger her sitting next to Dean.
Harlow leans forward as her Mom holds the photo. She points to the younger Dean, Juliet and Sam. "Who's dat?" Dean moves forward and picks up Harlow and sets her on his hip as he, to looks down at the photo his girlfriend holds.
"That is Me, Mommy and Uncle Sammy when we were younger." The older Winchester smiles down at his daughter as she points to the younger him. "Dat you?" Dean hums and nods his head.
Harlow looks back to the photo and then back to her Dad before giggling. "You wook goofy." Dean gasps in mock shock before he starts to attack his daughter with tickles. "You take that back!"
Harlow shrieks with laughter. "No!" Dean continues to tickle her. "Then I guess that means you don't get your present." Harlow gasps as her Dad stops his tickle torture. "You wot me a pwesent?"
"Of course! But you're not having it, you called me goofy."
The youngest Winchester grabs onto her father's arm and tugs on it to get his attention, which she does. Dean looks down at her and see's her giving him the puppy eyes. The green-eyed man holds back the smile that's threatening to pull at his lips as he pretends to think.
"Hmm, no."
"Daddy!"
"Harlow!"
Juliet shakes her head as she moves towards the bag that Dean and her had brought with them. She bends down and picks out a rectangular shaped red velvet box and hides it behind her back as she turns to her family.
"Honestly, Dean, give her a break. It's her birthday."
The said man playfully sighs and nods his head. He brings Harlow onto his lap as Juliet holds out the gift box in front of her. The little girl gasps in surprise at the expensive-looking box, she gently takes it from her mother's hands and lifts the lid, her eyes sparkling as they land on the shiny silver heart-shaped necklace that sits inside it.
Harlow looks up to her mother and then to her father, both softly smiling down at their daughter as Sam smiles at the little family.
Juliet takes the necklace out of the box and holds it up for Harlow to see.
"It's a locket."
The brunette then opens the silver metal heart and shows her daughter what's inside. Harlow takes the necklace back as she gazes at the photo's that lay inside.
On the right there is a picture of a newborn Harlow with Juliet holding her as Dean stands by her hospital bed, looking down at the two with a big smile on his face. Her eyes then move to the second picture on the left which is a still image of Sam looking down at Harlow as he holds his niece for the first time.
"It's the day you were born."
Harlow looks up to her Dad and he smiles down at her. "Happy birthday, sweetheart."
Harlow smiles. "Fank you, I wove it!" She then looks up to her father and passes him the necklace. "Tan you welp me pwut it on?" Dean takes the accessory from her little hands and tells her to turn around before putting the necklace on her neck and clasping it together.
Harlow looks down at the locket and holds the heart in her hands. "I'm never taking it off!"
Dean chuckles before kissing the top of her head. He then lifts her up and gently throws her down next to him on the bed. The young girl giggles as Dean smiles and gets up, throwing on his leather jacket.
"I'm starving. I'm gonna grab a little something to eat in that diner down the street." His green eyes land on his younger brother. "You want anything?"
"No."
"Aframian's buying."
Sam shakes his head as he gives his brother a small smile. "Mm-mm." Dean shrugs and turns to his girlfriend and daughter. "What about you?" Juliet gets up and grabs her jacket. "I'll come with. I'll choose what I want when we get there." Dean nods his head and looks back at Harlow. "What about you, baby? Wanna come with?"
Harlow shakes her head. "Wanna sway wiv untle Sammy, but tan I have some pwie?"
Dean smiles and nods his head. "Okay, you want apple pie?"
Harlow nods her head.
Juliet and Dean leave the motel but not before they both kiss Harlow on the head.
โข โข โข
Dean closes the Motel door as Juliet shrugs on the rest of her jacket. She turns to Dean and grabs his hand as the two start walking to the Impala. "I think Harlow liked her present." The green-eyed man hums and looks down at Juliet. "I know I sure as hell liked my present, and it ain't even my birthday." Juliet blushes as Dean shoots her a knowing look.
Juliet stops walking as she notices the police car and the motel clerk talking to Deputy Jaffe, the deputy sheriff they saw yesterday at the bridge. She tugs on Dean's hand causing him to look down at her. Juliet nods her head in the direction where the police car is. Dean looks up as the motel clerk points in their direction.
Juliet and Dean turn away as Deputy Jaffe turns and looks at them. Juliet pulls out Dean's phone from his pocket and dials Sam's number. The younger Winchester brother immediately picks up.
"What?"
Juliet moves the phone to her other ear.
"Sammy, Five-oh, get Harlow and take off."
Juliet can hear shuffling coming from Sam's end.
"What about you guys?"
The brunette turns and see's the two Deputies walking towards them.
"They kinda spotted us. Go find John."
Juliet then hangs up the line and grins at the two Deputies who now stand in front of them.
"Problem, officers?"
Jaffe looks between the two. "Where's your other partner?" Dean puts on a confused expression. "Partner, what partner?" Jaffe gives Dean an annoyed look as he looks over his shoulder and jerks his thumb towards the motel room. The other Deputy, Hein, heads over to the motel door as Dean and Juliet fidget.
Jaffe looks back towards the couple. "So, Fake US Marshal. Fake credit cards." The Deputy raises an eyebrow. "You two got anything that's real?" Dean smiles a toothy smile as he looks up at the officer. "My boobs."
Before the two can blink, Hein and Jaffe slam the two over the hood of the Impala. Juliet groans in annoyance as she looks over at Dean, a glare on her face. "You just couldn't keep your mouth shut."
Jaffe looks down at the two.
"You have the right to remain silent-"
โข โข โข
Juliet and Dean sit at the table in the Sheriff's office as they wait for him to get back.
The brunette turns to her boyfriend as the two wait for the Sheriff. "This is all your fault." Dean turns to Juliet, a scowl on his face. "My fault? How is this my fault?"
"If you didn't smart mouth that Deputy-"
"Smart mouth the Deputy...wha-?" Dean gives her a look of disbelief. "If you hadn't smiled that damn smile in his direction and been all flirty with him, then maybe I wouldn't of smart-mouthed him."
Juliet huffs as she squints her eyes at the dirty blonde. "You flirt with other women all the time! And he was suspicious of all three of us from the start, so I did the first thing that popped into my head!" Dean rolls his eyes. "So you do the second thing that pops into your head, always the second thing! and yeah, I flirt to get ya all riled up."
"To get me 'all riled up', are you serious? You can be an ass sometimes you know that?"
Dean scoffs. "Yeah, well, guess what sweetheart, you can be a bit of a bitch too." Juliet blows a breath of air through her mouth as she shoots Dean a deathly glare that would have him six feet under the ground if looks could kill, the look even has the hunter squirming in his seat.
The older Winchester sighs in relief as Sheriff Pierce enters the room, carrying a box. Dean silently thanks him for coming in before Juliet could get her hands 'round his throat, knowing that's exactly what she wants to do.
Sheriff Pierce sets the box on the table before walking around it so he can face Dean and Juliet, the latter still giving the former a deathly glare.
"So you want to give us your real names?"
Dean turns away from Juliet's glare and faces the Sheriff.
"I told you, it's Nugent. Ted Nugent." He then motions to Juliet. "And this is Polly Swallows." Juliet's glare hardens at his choice of last name for her. The said man covers up his chuckle with a cough.
The sheriff, like Juliet, isn't amused. "I'm not sure you realize just how much trouble you're in here, son," Dean smirks. "We talkin', like, misdemeanour kind of trouble or, uh, squeal like a pig trouble."
Juliet tries her hardest to refrain from smacking Dean, hard across the face. It seems the Sheriff is having a hard time doing the same, as well. "You got the faces of ten missing persons taped to your wall." Dean looks away as Juliet rolls her eyes, having enough of sitting in a stuffy room and being questioned.
The Sheriff continues as he looks between the two.
"Along with a whole lotta Satanic mumbo-jumbo. Boy, Lady, you two are officially a suspect." Juliet quietly groans as she meets eyes with the Sheriff. "Well, that makes sense, because when the first person went missing in '82 he was three..." Juliet points to Dean and then to herself. "...And I wasn't even born."
The Sheriff stares at Juliet for a moment before shaking his head. "I know you've both got partners. One of 'em's an older guy. Maybe he started the whole thing."
There's a beat of silence.
"So tell me. Dean. Juliet."
Sheriff Pierce tosses a brown leather-covered journal on the table as the hunters' eyes widen at the Sheriff knowing their real names.
"This his?"
The couple stare at the journal. The Sheriff moves and sits on the edge of the table and flips through the pages of the leather-covered book. Juliet glances down as he does, noticing each page is filled with newspaper clippings, notes, and pictures...just like what's on the walls of John's motel room.
The Sheriff notices the wide eye looks on both the Hunter and Huntress's faces. "I thought that might be your names. See, I leafed through this. What little I could make out-I mean, it's nine kinds of crazy."
The two lean forward to get a closer look as the Sheriff continues talking. "But I found this, too." Pierce turns to a page in the journal that reads 'Dean and Juliet, 35-111'. The writing is circled and is the only thing written down on that page.
Dean and Juliet discreetly look at each other before looking back to the Sheriff, who's looking at them while pointing to the open page. "Now. You two are stayin' right here till one of you tell me exactly what the hell that means."
Juliet sighs as Dean looks up to the Sheriff, the cogs turning in both of their brains as they try to come up with a believable lie to get them out of this situation.
โข โข โข
Juliet refrains from hitting her head on the table. Her and Dean are still in the office and have been for hours. The brunette glances outside to see that the sky has darkened, she turns back to Dean as he sighs in annoyance while pointing to the still open journal.
"I don't know how many times I gotta tell you. It's my high school locker combo.
"We gotta do this all night long?"
Juliet shakes her head. "I sure hope not, I gotta daughter who needs to be looked after." The Sheriff looks to Juliet and opens his mouth but before he can say anything a Deputy leans into the room. "We just got a 911, shots fired over at Whiteford Road." The Sheriff sighs as he looks back to the Winchester brother and Sullivan descendant. "Any of you have to go to the bathroom?"
Juliet goes to speak but Dean shakes his head. "No."
"Good."
The Sheriff then handcuffs the two to the table and leaves. Juliet slowly turns to her boyfriend, the glare on her face worse than the one before. "You didn't see this coming? Why didn't you say yes?!"
Dean, having enough of his girlfriend's attitude, huffs. "Will you lay off my back for five damn minutes?" Juliet doesn't say anything but Dean knows that she's calling him all the names under the sun in her head. The older Winchester brother notices a paper clip poking out of the journal and looks at it with a smirk on his face.
Juliet sees the paper clip as well and watches as he grabs it and starts to pick the lock on both of their cuffs.
After freeing himself and Juliet, the two hide in the corner of the office as the Sheriff and Deputy are gearing up to leave. The two watch from the window in the door but quickly duck down, Dean pulling Juliet with him, as the Deputy approaches the door. The two sit and quietly wait before climbing down the fire escape, Juliet carrying John's journal.
The two spot a phonebox down the end of the street and start making their way towards it. While doing so, Juliet looks Dean up and down before smacking him 'round the head. "That's for calling me a bitch." She then smacks him again. "And that is for the name thing."
Dean hisses and glares at Juliet as he opens the glass door to the phone box, the two walk inside and Dean immediately dials Sam's number, he picks up on the third ring and Dean holds the payphone between himself and Juliet.
"Fake 911 phone call? Sammy, I don't know, that's pretty illegal."
Juliet can hear Sam chuckle from the other end.
"You're welcome."
Juliet grins as she hears Harlow in the background, presumably, talking to Ellie the Elephant.
"Can you pass the phone to Harlow, Sammy? I wanna talk to her."
Although she couldn't see it, Sam nods his head. Juliet then hears shuffling come from down the phone.
"Hi, Mommy!"
Juliet smiles at hearing her daughter's voice. "Heya Baby, you okay?" Harlow hums as she fiddles with Ellie the Elephant.
"I'm otay!"
Juliet chuckles. "Good, you wanna say hi to Daddy?" The little Winchester shouts out a yes and Juliet looks at Dean to see him smiling. The eldest Winchester leans closer to the payphone. "Hey, sweetheart. Mommy and I will be with you soon okay?"
"Otay! Untle Sammy and I awe in da car. Wid you get my Apple pwie?"
Dean hums. "No baby, but I'll get it as soon as you and uncle Sammy pick me and Mommy up, okay? and hey, make sure he doesn't wreck the car okay?"
The mother and father can hear Harlow's laugh from down the phone. Juliet and Dean smile as they hear her giggles, happy that she is happy.
"Otay, I pwomise."
"Good girl. Can you pass me back to Sammy?" There's another shuffle from the other end of the call, moments later, Sam's voice can be heard. "Dean, Jules?"
"Yeah, listen...we gotta talk."
Sam scoffs. "Tell me about it. So the husband was unfaithful. We are dealing with a woman in white and she's buried behind her old house, so that should have been Dad's next stop."
An impatient Dean looks at Juliet and rolls his eyes as his brother won't stop talking.
"Sammy, would you shut up for a second?" Sam either ignores him or doesn't hear him as he continues.
"I just can't figure out why Dad hasn't destroyed the corpse yet?"
Juliet chuckles as Dean's face turns red.
"I think that's what Dean is tryna tell ya, Sammy. He's gone. John left Jericho."
There's a beat of silence as Sam processes Juliet's words.
"What? How do you know?"
Juliet clears her throat as she looks down at the leather-covered book in her hands. She breaths heavily before answering her best friend. "We've got his journal." There's another pause. "He doesn't go anywhere without that thing." Juliet shakes her head. "Really? We had no idea." Dean chuckles at the sarcasm laced in her tone while Sam rolls his eyes.
"What's it say?"
Dean tuts down the phone. "Ah, the same old ex-Marine crap, when he wants to let us know where he's going."
Sam's eyes widen as the realization hits him.
"Coordinates. Where to?"
Dean shrugs. "We're not sure yet." Sam sighs in exasperation at his brother's words. "I don't understand. I mean, what could be so important that Dad would just skip out in the middle of a job? Guys, what the hell is going o-"
Sam is cut off by Harlows screams. "Untle Sammy, look out!" Dean and Juliet face each other, both with worry clouding their features as the sound of Sam slamming down on the breaks can be heard from down the line.
"Sam? Harlow?"
When hearing no reply, Juliet snatches the payphone from Dean's hands. "Sammy! Harlow!"
The line goes dead.

Juliet and Dean arrive at the beat up and rotted house just in time. Juliet draws her gun and shoots Constance as she stabs Sam in the chest with her nails. The woman in white disappears with an inhumane shriek, Harlow's shrill cries can be heard from the back of the car.
Constance appears again and this time Dean shoots at her resulting in her disappearing for the second time. The mother and father wait with baited breaths, looking around them in case the spirit shows up again, which she does.
Juliet shoots at her in one last attempt to get her to back off as Sam sits up, chest bleeding, and starts up the car. Dean and Juliet watch as he slams his foot down on the gas and drives forward, smashing through the side of the house with Harlow still sitting in the back seat.
The brown-haired woman and dirty-blonde haired man run after the car and make their way through the wreckage. Dean rushes up to the passenger window and looks at his brother. "Sam! Sam! You okay?" Sam groans but nods his head. "Yeah, help me?" The eldest Winchester leans through the window to give Sam a hand as Juliet hurries to open the back door to the Impala.
The brown-eyed woman rushes to pick Harlow up and out of the car, assessing her for any injuries, which she has. Juliet notices the gash on her forehead, her head must have been hit when Sam slammed on the breaks earlier.
Harlow cries into her mother's shoulder as the said woman gently shushes her. "You're okay baby." Juliet turns to Dean as he pulls Sam out of the car. "There you go." The two brothers make their way to the brunette and five-year-old.
Harlow, seeing her father, reaches out to him.
Juliet hands the young girl to him and watches as Harlow buries her head in Dean's shoulder. The three adults turn and watch as Constance picks up a large framed photograph of her and her two children, her family.
Constance notices them watching her and glares at the three and throws the photograph onto the floor. The Woman in White then slams a bureau towards Dean, Juliet and Sam and uses it to pin them up against the car.
Harlow cries louder. Dean turns and kisses her on the side of the head. "It's okay, Harls. Keep your head where it is, okay?" The young girl doesn't say anything but the older Winchester can feel her nodding her head.
The lights then start to flicker, dragging Dean's attention away from his distressed daughter. Juliet notices the look of fear on Constance's face as she looks around as water begins to pour from down the staircase. The brunette woman watches as she goes over to the water. Her brown eyes squint as the boy and girl from the photograph appear, holding hands.
"You've come home to us, Mommy."
Chills run down all three adults' spines as the children speak simultaneously, an eerie edge to both of their voices.
Constance looks at them, a distraught expression on her face. Suddenly, the children appear behind their mother and embrace her tightly. The Winchester brother's and the Sullivan descendants watch as the Woman in White's body starts to flicker as she screams.
In a surge of energy, and while screaming, Constance and her two children melt into a puddle that's absorbed by the floor.
Grunting, Sam and Dean shove the bureau over and the two, along with Juliet, make their way over and look at the spot where Constance and her two children vanished.
Dean puts his hand on Harlow's head as she goes to turn it. "Not yet, baby." The five-year-old whines but listens to her father. Juliet whistles as she looks up the staircase made of rotted wood. "So this is where she drowned her kids."
She looks back to her best friend and boyfriend as Sam nods his head.
"That's why she could never go home. She was too scared to face her children."
Dean smiles a small smile at his younger brother. "You found her weak spot. Nice work, Sammy." He then purposefully slaps Sam in the chest where Constance had stabbed him. The younger Winchester brother laughs through his pain as Dean walks towards his car.
"Yeah, I wish I could say the same for you two." Sam gestures between Dean and Juliet. "What were you both thinking, shooting Casper in the face, you freaks?" Juliet walks over to Sam and gives him a sickly sweet smile before patting him on the chest where his injuries are, causing him to groan in pain. "Watch who you're calling a freak Samantha."
She watches as Dean, still holding Harlow, leans over to look at his car. "I'll tell you another thing, If my daughter has any more injuries or if you screwed up my car." He then twists 'round to look at his brother. "I'll kill you."
Sam laughs while Dean and Juliet look to one another, both letting out a sigh of relief, knowing that this job is done.

The three adults plus the young Winchester are now sitting in the beat-up Impala, which only has one headlight working, as they tear down the road.
Juliet sits in the back with an asleep Harlow, the five-year-old now wearing a bandaid on her head from where she smacked it against the seat of the Impala. Sam and Dean sit up front, the latter having John's journal on his lap with the page with the coordinates on it, open.
The younger Winchester brother also has a map open on his lap, finding the coordinates written in the journal with a ruler, a flashlight tucked between his chin and his shoulder.
"Okay, here's where Dad went."
Dean flicks his eyes to Sam and then back to the road as Juliet gently moves Harlow's head from her shoulder, and leans forward to get a closer look. Sam continues. "It's called Blackwater Ridge, Colorado."
Juliet hums as Dean nods his head.
"Sounds charming, how far?"
"About six hundred miles."
Dean smiles as he glances at Sam. "Hey, if we shag ass we could make it by morning." Sam turns to his older brother, hesitating. "Dean, I, um.." Juliet looks between the two as Dean sighs while glancing from the road to his brother, repeating the movement a few times.
"You're not going."
Sam blows out a breath of air as he looks to Dean and then to Juliet, the former giving him an understanding smile. "The interview's in like, ten hours. I gotta be there." Dean nods, disappointed that his brother isn't staying with him, and returns his attention to the road.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever."
Dean glances towards his brother for the last time. "I'll take you home." Sam nods his head as he turns the flashlight off. Juliet sighs and she leans back into her seat, trying not to let the frown that wants to twist onto her lips, show.
The three adults sit in silence as Dean continues to drive down the deserted highway.

Dean pulls up outside Sam's apartment building and watches as his younger brother gets out of the car, a frown still on the older Winchester's face. The younger Winchester brother leans over and looks through the passenger side window.
"Call me if you find him?"
Dean nods his head as Sam shoots him a small smile.
"And maybe I can meet up with you guys later, huh?"
Dean gives him a small smile. "Yeah, all right."
Juliet then quietly gets out of the car, being careful not to wake her still-sleeping daughter. The brunette makes her way 'round the car and towards her best friend, leaning up to give him a tight hug. Sam smiles and hugs his best friend back just as tightly.
"Imma miss you."
Sam pulls away and looks down at the brown-eyed woman, and smiles. "I'll miss you, too. Don't leave it too long to get in contact with me, all right?" Juliet chuckles as she sniffs. The younger Winchester brother then gestures to Harlow. "Let Angel know I'll see her again soon, and that I love her."
Juliet nods her head. "Of course." She then makes her way to the passenger side of the car and gets in, looking at Sam through the window. "You know, we made a hell of a team back there." The brown-haired man chuckles and nods his head. "Yeah."
Juliet sends him one last smile. "See ya around Sam."
The said man watches as his brother drives off and sighs as he watches them go.

Juliet sighs as she turns to Dean after checking on their daughter from the rearview mirror. Dean glances at his girlfriend before looking back to the road. "You alright?" The brunette hums as she looks out of the window. "Yeah, just gonna miss him."
Dean smiles and places one of his hands on her thigh, squeezing it.
"Me too."
He then looks into the rearview mirror and glances at Harlow. "I was thinkin' maybe we could stop off at a motel, get some shut e-"
Juliet cuts Dean off my shushing him, she stares intently at the radio as it starts to flicker. The brunette then casts her eyes up to Dean. The two look at each other, having a silent conversation.
The dirty blonde haired man then abruptly turns the car around causing Juliet to grab onto the dashboard. She checks the rearview mirror and see's Harlow still out like a light, not that she could blame her daughter.

Dean arrives back at Sam's apartment building and Juliet gasps in shock as Sam's apartment is on fire, the red-orange flames smashing through the window. The brunette watches as Dean jumps out of the car, telling Juliet to stay where she is.
The young mother watches as Dean runs into the building, and waits with baited breath for her boyfriend, the father of her child to emerge with Sam behind him.
Juliet sits and waits while biting her nail, she then lets out a breath of relief as she sees Dean exit the building, dragging Sam behind him. The car door flies open as she gets out of the car and rushes up to the two.
It's then Juliet realizes that Jess is nowhere in sight. She turns to Dean who shakes his head.
Hours later, firefighters and police cars arrive as Juliet, with Harlow now in her arms, Sam and Dean stand by the trunk of the Impala. Juliet scoffs and rolls her eyes at all the nosy people, she turns back to the open trunk to see Sam peering inside while loading a shotgun.
Dean had told Juliet what had happened. The same thing that caused Mary's death had also caused Jessica's. Juliet glances at the trunk before flicking her eyes back up Sam, whose face is set in an expression of desperate anger.
Sam glances at his best friend and then at his brother. He sighs in sadness before nodding his head in determination, tossing the shotgun into the trunk.
"We've got work to do."
The younger Winchester then slams the trunk closed, revenge, sadness and anger twinkling in his eyes as he does.
Juliet and Dean turn to one another, concern shining in both of their eyes. The former of the two lets out a sigh,
"And so, The Journey Begins."
