.002; GROW UP.

Walking ten miles home from the reserve was hard enough, but having to walk those ten miles with an old blue Jeep and two screaming boys following her was even harder. A trip that would normally take no more than fifteen minutes, took Thalia two and a half hours.

And in that time, it started to rain, she slipped in a muddy patch of dirt, and her phone diedโ€”leaving the girl with no way to tell Lydia that she would undoubtedly miss the plans they had made until she was home. That was a thirty minute phone call that Thalia never wanted to have again.

The girl had been home for an hour, and the entire time Scott and Stiles sat on the floor right outside her bedroom door like two lost puppies. She told herself she wouldn't give in, that Stiles had completely overreacted and she had the right to be mad. But when she left her room for a third time, and Stiles now sat alone not even attempting to speak to her anymore, she caved.

It wasn't long before all three teenagers were sat on the couch watching re-runs of Friends and laughing like nothing had changed, like they hadn't changed; and that night was the last bit of normal they would see for awhile.

"You can't be serious, Stiles." Thalia huffs, "There are no wolves in California, my brother did not get bit by a wolf," She shakes her head as the boy in front of her start rifling through papers on his desk.

"But that's the thing," he pauses, snatching a paper and shoving it into her hands, "The fiber analysis came back from the lab in L.A." he points at the paper in her hands vigorously. "They found animal hairs on the body in the woods!"

"That's not some crazy thing, Stiles." she laughs sarcastically, "There are hundreds of animals in the woods, finding animal hair on a body that has been there for god knows how long isn't a shock." Thalia reaches the paper towards him, she had scanned over it, but she didn't see the point in reading it because she knew Stiles would tell her everything the paper said, and more.

"No, Lia, listen." he leans down, fully focusing on the girl in front of him, "They weren't hairs from a deer, or a coyote." he shakes his head, "They were from a wolf."

Thalia scoffs, setting the paper down on his bed as she stands up, "That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard." she starts for the door only for Stiles to slide in front of her at the last moment, forcing her to stop.

"I've been up all night reading,"

"Really? I couldn't tell." she makes a point to scan his room, halfway opened books scattered across the floor and every surface possible.

"Just listen, please." Thalia rolls her eyes, but lets him continue without protest. "A wolf howls to signal its location to the rest of the pack and Scott said he heard a howl that nightโ€”"

"So, what? There's a pack of wolves in California?" She shrugs, "Cool, they're migrating and adapting, big deal."

"No, not wolves." He jerks his head, "Werewolves." he says slowly, drawling it out like it would help her understand.

"You think you're so funny." She sneers, starting to push past him, "Werewolves aren't real. I don't know why you're wasting time with this."

"Because I'm trying to help!" He rushes out, stoping her with his hands on her shoulders. "If you would look at the stuff I found you'd believe it too." He sighs, staring at her with the saddest puppy-dog eyes she'd ever seen.

"This is a wast of my time, and your time, and you better not make it a waste of Scott's time." She says, "He has too much to worry about right now, he doesn't need your childish stories on top of everything else." She finally get past him and out his bedroom door, turning in the hallway to face the defeated boy.

"I love you, you're my best friend, but you have to grow up." She doesn't stop when he shouts after her, and she doesn't pick up her phone for any of his calls.

Getting woken up at six a.m. by relentless banging on her front door was not how Thalia wanted her Saturday to start, as soon as she opened the door, she wished she hadn't, because Stiles was standing there looking like he just rolled out of bed.

"Lia! Where's Scott." He says quickly, "Scott!" He yells before she has a chance to answer.

"Probably sleeping since it's 6 o'clock in the fucking morning, Stiles." He pushes past her making his way up the stairs. Thalia listens as he barges into Scott's room, and then moves from room to room.

"He's not here!" He yells from upstairs, running down the steps and finding Thalia in the kitchen, "Did he come home last night?"

"I don't know, Stiles." She sighs, "I fell asleep doing English homework,"

"So you didn't see him last night?"

"No, he must've come in late and left early." She shrugs, "Why are you this worked up?" She asks with furrowed brows.

"Because last night was a full moonโ€”"

"You're seriously not still doing this, are you?" She questions exasperatedly, "Please tell me you didn't say anything to him yesterday."

"That's not the point." He replies, "Nobody's seen him since the party and he didn't come home. We have to go find him."

"Maybe he stayed over at Allison's?" She shakes her head, crosses her arms and stares at him, "You made a stupid joke and now you're taking it tooโ€”" she couldn't finish her sentence, couldn't form any words as Stiles grabbed her arm and pulled her outside and to his Jeep, opening the passenger door and depositing the girl inside before rushing to the driver seat.

"What the hell just happened...?"

Twenty minutes of Stiles silently driving down the back roads near the reserve lead strait to a shirtless and dirty Scott McCall walking on the side of the road. The car stopped and Scott entered silently, they sat like that for a minute, noiselessly waiting.

Scott is the one who breaks the silence, "I think I'm a werewolf." His statement is met by another pause, and Thalia knows Stiles is quietly celebrating his victory, "Guys?"

"I knew it." Stiles shrugs and shakes his head as he begins to drive.

"Oh, shut up, Stiles."

"You're just mad that I was right," he smirks, "Go on, tell me how amazing I am."

"Please die."

"You know what actually worries me the most?" Scott interrupts.

"If you say Allison, I'm gonna punch you in the head."

"She probably hates me now," Scott replies leaning into the window.

"This is so not what we should be worrying about right now." Thalia adds.
