A/N ~ SO sorry for the late update, my luvs. School just opened, but then it closed again, and it's been a little crazy.

Feel free to read the last bits of the last chapter to recap :) enjoy...

"We will wait outside." Said Remus Lupin, standing up and gently guiding the crying witch with blue hair out of Dumbledore's office.

"Wait, but-" Y/N didn't know what to say. She was scared, numb, confused and wanted everyone's presence.

Dumbledore nodded and calmly walked out of the room after Lupin, with McGonagall following closely behind. They all gave Y/N and Rolf a small and weak smile as they walked past them.

Once the door of the room closed, Y/N and Rolf ran into their grandfather's arms. Newt wrapped his arms around them and sniffed silently, not wanting to worry his grandchildren.

Y/N didn't want to speak. Deep down, she had a guess of what had happened, but she didn't want to hear it. It was impossible.

Rolf hugged Newt silently, thinking the same thing as his sister. He didn't want Newt to speak or explain anything.

But the worse finally came.

"Y/N... Rolf..." Newt started gently, trying to hold back his tears, not wanting to scare them.

"Stop, Grandpa." Rolf whispered, tears already running down his freckled face. Y/N was still and her whole body felt petrified.

Newt hugged them even tighter.

"Your mother..." he started. Y/N felt her heart sink deep into her stomach. "She w-was on duty- along with six other Aurors... near Hogsmeade. Death eaters came... they d-didn't- didn't have enough back up."

Y/N felt her whole body burn inside, as her emotions rushed up to her face, and turning into painful tears.

"She saved six lives." Newt continued, planting a kiss on Rolf and Y/N's head. "She saved the other Aurors, so they were unharmed... there were too many death eaters... and... she was killed by one of them. I'm so sorry."

Y/N's legs lost control as the words left Newt's mouth. She let her body fall weakly, her knees hitting the stone floor painfully. Her ears were ringing numbly and her body was shaking.

"No... it c-can't be." She whispered. It was all she could say. Her heart ached, physically, and tears were pouring down her face uncontrollably.

The next moment, she found herself sobbing hysterically, both her hands grabbing fist fulls of her hair.

Her mother, who she had grown up with and loved for fourteen years- who saved six other lives, in exchange of her own, was gone...

The last time her mother was with her, she looked incredibly happy- beaming at everyone with her warm smile, like always. Y/N remembered how she hugged her tightly before she left.

Y/N cried harder, as she realized she will never get to say anything to her mother ever again. Not another 'I love you', or even a proper good bye. She was gone.

She felt two trembling hands pulling her up, from the floor. She looked up at Rolf's face- he was crying silently, but his expression was determined.

To make Y/N feel better, he, himself, had to look strong.

Y/N wanted to scream and leave everything behind. Sirius was right. Good karma existed, but it wasn't reliable. Bad things happen to good people, and it was deeply unfair.

And so, Y/N let out a painful cry, not knowing what to do. Hearing his sister cry, made Rolf's sadness a lot worse. He sobbed and another set of tears came pouring down his face, as he pulled his sister into a hug.

Newt sniffed again and wiped his tears with the back of his hand.

"W-When you're ready, I'm here to talk." He said quietly, as the Scamander siblings broke down in front of him. Newt couldn't handle seeing them like that- but he knew, they would find perfect comfort with each other, and each other only. He shouldn't interfere.

He glanced up at them once more, before walking out of the room and gently closing the door behind him.

Immediately, the others who were waiting outside came over to him and patted his back, comforting him.

"You have the letters, Dumbledore?" Newt asked quietly.

"Yes, Newt. Do not worry." Dumbledore said gently.

"I say... give them some time." said Newt, avoiding everyone's eye contact. "And then... tell them about Sean..."

"Are you going to St Mungo's, Mr Scamander?" Lupin asked the old wizard.

"Yes. Teen and Queenie are already there." Newt replied, looking up at Lupin. "Take care of them, for me, Remus. You're a good man. Lexi and Sean trusts- trusted- you."

Newt gave him a firm nod, before wiping his face once more, and disappearing down the stairs.

Y/N felt like she'd been crying for days. Her face was glazed with tears, and her eyes were puffy. Her lungs were tired from all the sobbing, and her insides churned. Rolf had stopped crying, and was patting her on the back and comforting her, as the big brother he was.

"You know..." Rolf started. His voice was raspy and still. "Your nickname. I actually didn't come up with it."

"It's n-n-not the t-time!" Y/N managed to say, her voice shaking uncontrollably.

"Mum did." Rolf continued nonchalantly, ignoring her comment. "You were crying on your fifth birthday, and dad was talking to you outside... M-Mum started to laugh just-uncontrollably, and I asked her why. She said that she thought dad left another Niffler lying around."

Rolf chuckled hollowly, and Y/N started to calm down.

"She told me not to tell you she said that," Rolf said. "So I promised her that I wouldn't. But in exchange of getting to call you 'Niff' without getting in trouble-"

"That's why Mum never scolded you for using it." Y/N said quietly, starting to hiccup through her sobs. Rolf chuckled again.

"Yeah." He said quietly.

Y/N felt tired. She didn't want to wake up the next day, she didn't want to feel the pain any longer. She wanted everything to stop- to fall asleep and never wake up.

How could they let her mother die? Why didn't the other Aurors help her? Why didn't they step in front of her and protect her? Knowing perfectly she had two loving children that still needed her.

There was a gentle knock on the door, and Dumbledore, Lupin, and the other unknown witch came back in. McGonagall made sure to stay at the very back of the room, not wanting to feature or trigger the Scamanders.

Y/N immediately wiggled out of Rolf's hug and threw them a look. Why didn't they do anything to help at all?

Dumbledore went to sit behind his desk, and Lupin sat on the same seat he was sitting in earlier. The blue-haired witch slowly came over to Y/N and Rolf. Y/N noticed she was also wearing the well-known Auror uniform.

"Who are you?" Y/N shot impatiently, her voice filled with annoyance and sadness.

"I'm- I'm Nymphadora Tonks- call me Tonks." Said the witch, shyly moving forwards. She was no longer crying, but her eyes were red as tired. "Your mother- she trained me to become an Auror. She helped me so much during the past year. She was always talking about you two."

"We've heard a lot about you, Tonks, I'm Rolf-"

"Were you there with her?" Y/N asked quietly. "When she- when she- got killed?" Her whole body ached at those words.

Tonks' face dropped and her hair changed to a lighter shade of blue, almost white. Y/N was too tired to ask her how she did that.

"Y-yes..." Tonks said quietly. "Right in front of me. Alexis ordered everyone to go and hide as she distracted the death eaters. I refused- I was- I wanted to help her- but it was too late." Her voice trailed away and she looked down guiltily.

Y/N shook her head, as the tears were forced up in her eyes again. She let out a sob and pulled Tonks into a hug.

The witch looked slightly taken back, but immediately hugged her back, rubbing her back soothingly.

"I'm so sorry..." said Tonks, a silent tear rolling down her face. She rubbed Y/N's back, as she cried harder.

"Mr Scamander..." Dumbledore said suddenly.

"Yes, sir?" Rolf wiped away his tears and looked at the headmaster.

"When you're ready- your mother left a letter for each of you." Dumbledore gave him a gently smile. Rolf nodded and was about to walk over to the professor, but Y/N's voice stopped him.

"What about dad?" Y/N asked, her voice shaky and bitter.

"He was called to help your mother, at the attack." Dumbledore said quietly. "But he wasn't an Auror. He couldn't help-"

"Where is he, Dumbledore?" Y/N demanded loudly, pulling away from Tonks' hug. Dumbledore didn't flinch. Instead, he remained calm.

"He's in St Mungo's." He replied.

"Is he alright?" Rolf asked. Y/N secretly didn't want to hear the answer, whatever it was.

"He's... alive." Dumbledore said.

"What happened?" Y/N asked impatiently, not liking Dumbledore's calm tone at all.

"Crutiatus Curse." Dumbledore replied shortly.

Y/N felt her body crumble. Was it not enough? Her mother saved six lives and her father helped countless animals. What did they do to deserve this?

"I want to see him." Y/N said stubbornly, tears rapidly dripping from her chin. "I want to go to St Mungo's."

"Miss Scamander, if you will just listen-"

"NO, YOU LISTEN!" Y/N bellowed, her whole head and heart aching. Tonks, Lupin and McGonagall gave her a sympathetic look. "HE'S OUR DAD AND WE HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO SEE HIM-"

"I am aware, Miss Scamander," said Dumbledore firmly, closing his eyes.

"THEN TAKE ME TO HIM!" Y/N cried, her eyes stinging with tears.

A row of glass flasks in a cupboard near by shook dangerously, from her anger.

"Now is not the right time, Miss Scamander," Dumbledore stated. "There are unimaginable things going on at the ministry right now-"

"THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MY FATHER!" Y/N yelled. She wanted desperately to leave. She had to make sure her father was alright. He was the only comfort she could cling onto.

And with that, the row of filled glass flasks in one of Dumbledore's cupboards shook violently, before bursting loudly, the glass turning into sand and flying everywhere, the liquids disappearing into the air.

Tonks, Rolf and McGonagall let out a gasp, and Lupin's breath became steadier, as they looked between the shreds of the flasks and Y/N.

Tonks whispered something under her breath and gave Lupin a concerned look.

"That is another thing we need to discuss about." Dumbledore said quietly, glancing at the destroyed flasks. "But if you please, Miss Scamander, we will need to talk about your family."

Y/N let a yell of frustration and turned away from everyone, wanting more than anything for the world to just stop.

She just lost her mother, and basically her father too, and Dumbledore was sitting there, refusing to let her see her father and telling her to listen to him?

"Hey, Y/N, you've got to calm down." Rolf said stiffly, grabbing his sister's arm. He felt like he was seconds away from crying too, but he gritted his teeth and held his tears in.

If anything, Y/N was now his entire responsibility and he wanted to do what his parents would've wanted him to do; be there for her.

Surprisingly, Y/N let Rolf grab her arm and pull her into another brotherly hug, where she sobbed, hard, into his arms.

"Mr Scamander, please take a seat." Dumbledore said, gesturing Rolf and Y/N to two seats next to Lupin and Tonks.

Rolf nodded and slowly steered his sister to sit down on the seat. Y/N didn't want him to let go. She didn't want to be alone.

But she quietly sat on the fancy chair and started to quietly hiccup, her eyes and face red.

"I'm very sorry for your loss." Dumbledore started quietly, his eyes twinkling like always.

Rolf quickly pulled his hand up and wiped away a fresh tear.

Y/N didn't say a thing.

"Before I say anything further," Dumbledore continued, "your mother left a letter for each of you, before she-"

"A letter?" Y/N furrowed her eyebrows, her voice shaking. "But- w-well, did she know she was g-going to- going to-"

"Please, I will explain." Dumbledore looked down at Y/N sternly. Y/N's anger towards the old wizard grew second by second. "Every Auror has to leave wills and letters for their family members every year, before they start working."

"I didn't know that." Rolf whispered, finding the information slightly disturbing.

"Of course, it's only for safety and comfort," Dumbledore explained. "in case anything happens."

Dumbledore waited for Y/N or Rolf to interfere, but they both sat there silently, Rolf staring at the floor and Y/N glaring at Dumbledore.

The old wizard gently waved his wand and two envelopes appeared on his desk. Tonks and Lupin swapped uneasy looks as Dumbledore handed the Scamanders their mother's letters.

Y/N quickly ripped it open, her vision blury and unfocussed. She didn't hesitate to unfold the lengthy letter, containing her mother's neat and tidy handwriting...

'Dear Y/N,

If you're reading this, I'm probably gone for good. First of all, I want you know that, thanks to you, your father and your brother, I've lived the most happiest life. Don't feel sorry for me.

Now that I've got that aside, I want you to tell you about Remus Lupin. Yes, your current Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. This will sound crazy, but you have to read carefully- Remus was a good friend and cousin of mine.

Y/N, there are so many things I regret doing, but this has to be the most regretful thing I've done. When you were one year old and Rolf was two, we invited Moony (that's what we used to called Remus) to our house for dinner. I assume you know that he is a werewolf. Remus is a werewolf. He forgot to take his potion that night, and transformed. It was the scariest night of his life, as he told me. Your father and I barely got you two out of there safely. I'm sure Remus will tell you the whole story, one day. But after that night, he never wanted to have any relation or contact with us. He insisted it was best for all of us, if we became strangers.

I refused, of course, but typical Remus- loving others more than himself. But he forgot that, the night you were born, I made him your godfather. He has no way of wriggling out of that! Take that, Moony! Of course, he didn't want to see you again, for your safety. But if I'm dead, he will have to fill in his duty and take care of you (sorry not sorry, Remus), along with your father, of course.

I want you to be happy, Y/N. With your new life- your new godfather, your old father, Rolf, Newt and Tina, Uncle Jacob, Harry, Hermione and Ron. They're more than enough to make you happy.

My hand hurts from writing these letters every year, gosh. And you never get to read them. One thing I want you to do, after I die, Y/N, is live on. Don't waste your precious years of living, alright?. Alright. Anyway, just want you to know that I love you and your brother, so, so much. Always will.

Love from six feet under,

Your Lovely and Beautiful Momma Scamander.'

Y/N let out a chuckle through her heavy tears. She sniffed loudly and shook her head, gripping her mother's letter tightly in her hands.

Professor McGonagall stepped forward, before waving her wand and conjuring a handkerchief for her.

Y/N thanked the professor quietly and blew her nose.

Her mother wanted her to be happy and live on. It seemed almost impossible for Y/N, at the moment, but she had to try. She had to try to live on.

Y/N sniffed once more and looked up to the four adults in the room and her brother.

Rolf was still reading his letter, his hands trembling uncontrollably. Y/N sighed shakily and turned to Lupin and Tonks.

"Hello, godfather." she piped, looking at Lupin hesitantly. The man chuckled hoarsely. Y/N had just noticed how tired and ragged he looked.

"You don't sound surprised at all." Said Lupin.

"I am surprised, it's just... what, now?" Y/N sniffed, still feeling like she could cry another waterfall. "I mean, do we go live with-"

"You're Y/N's godfather!" Rolf exclaimed, his eyes wide, as he lowered his letter slowly. His eyes traveled to Lupin's grey ones.

"I am, Rolf," Lupin replied gently.

"And for that, you will be moving to Remus's house this summer." Dumbledore said calmly. "You can move as early as tomorrow, if you want to take a break from school, but you can decide that later."

Y/N felt like her body's organs disappeared. She didn't know what to think or feel, at this point.

"To- to l-live with him?" Rolf stared blankly at Lupin.

"It's what Lexi wanted." Said Tonks, who's hair was now a warmer shade of blue. "She told me that- that if... if she died one day, at least her children would get to meet Remus. She missed you, Remus-"

"Don't..." Lupin closed his eyes pain fully and turned away. "Don't remind me. The decision I made, ten years ago, was for the Scamanders' own good."

"Well," Y/N took a deep breath and wiped her glazed face with the back of her hand. "you're stuck with us, now."

"I am aware." Lupin said quietly. He shook his head and looked up at Dumbledore. "Don't make me do this, Dumbledore. I'm not safe for them- I'm not a father figure. They deserve a better parent-"

"You are what they have left, Remus." Dumbledore said firmly, waving his hand slightly.

Lupin gritted his teeth and switched his glance to the stone floor of Dumbledore's office.

That hurt Y/N slightly, but she kept quiet. She wanted all of it to be over. Emptiness and pure numbness struck her.

But she didn't cry again.

"Did Mum tell you to 'live on' too?" Rolf said, turning to Y/N, as Lupin and Dumbledore continued to talk. "And to be happy and enjoy your life?

"She did. I don't want to talk about it-"

"Then try to grant her that wish, Niff." Rolf said quietly, his eyes bloodshot and his hands trembling.

"It's not that easy!" Y/N scoffed angrily. "Mum is g-gone, Rolf! How am I supposed to just live on-?"

"You have me!" Rolf hissed back, trying not to let his voice rise. "And Professor Lupin- Remus- whatever! You have Harry, Hermione, Ron and Fleur! And I have Luna and Ced. Think of all the people you love, Y/N."

"He's right." Tonks whispered in her raspy voice. Y/N turned to her. "Alexis wasn't afraid of death. She was afraid that you two weren't going to live on. Don't make her only fear become true."

Y/N knew that she was speaking the truth. No matter how hard and painful it was, she can't just quit the rest of her life.

She still had friends- people she loved. She had her father, that was tortured into insanity, that she had to be with.

It wasn't going to be easy, but she would have to overcome it... eventually.

ϟ ͛ r⃒⃘ (one month later...)

Y/N heard faint footsteps echoing from the spiral staircases. She ignored them. She had been sitting cross legged on the carpet, in front of the common room's fireplace for hours.

And she didn't want to stop. She watched as the flames danced and the fire cracked, which made her eyes sting. Or perhaps it wasn't the fire.

She blinked, and a tear rolled down her cheek. She quickly sniffed and wiped it away, as Harry approached her from behind.

"Hey, Niff..." said Harry hesitantly. He stood a good five feet from her. "Do you... do you want to talk?"

"I'm fine, I think." Y/N said with a soft smile, still having her eyes fixed on the fire.

"It's three in the morning," Harry stated, gently taking a seat right behind her. "You not tired? After helping Hagrid with those Skrewts?"

"No, I'm not." Y/N replied with a shrug.

Harry watched the back of Y/N's head and how her hair just sat there beautifully. He knew she'd been crying the whole evening, and he just wanted to make her pain stop.

Harry sighed loudly and scooted closer to her, before wrapping his arms around her waist protectively.

He felt Y/N breathe calmer, as she sank into his arms tiredly.

"It's been a whole month... I miss her... and father." Y/N whispered, leaning onto Harry's right arm. "Oh, I just wished dad would open his eyes and talk to me."

"Its alright, Y/N, it's visiting day, tomorrow," Harry reminded her with a soft smile. "Right? Tomorrow's Sunday, isn't it?"

"Yeah, I'm not sure if I want to go." Y/N replied with another shrug.

"What, why?" Harry frowned, pulling away slightly.

"Because I don't like seeing my dad unresponsive." Said Y/N, her voice starting to break. "It's no use going to St Mungo's every Sunday, if I'm going to just talk to an unconscious person."

Silence fell, as Harry thought about it carefully.

"Alright. It's all up to you." Harry said, squeezing her slightly tighter. Y/N felt a rush of warmth through her body.

Just please, don't let her lose him too. She didn't want Harry to let her go. The past month  has gone by slowly, but Y/N had managed.

She had quickly switched back into school spirit and had been treated with care by her brother, Harry, Hermione, Ron, Fleur, and practically everybody else.

Even Malfoy was respectful enough to leave her alone, and told his other friends to stop disturbing her.

And she'd only cried for the first few nights of hearing the news... but realizing that it's been a month that her mother has left the world, made her full of remorse again.

"Don't leave me." Y/N said out loud, looking up into Harry's emerald green eyes. Harry looked back at her, slightly surprised and smiled.

"I would never- could never." He replied, planting a kiss on the top of Y/N's head, making her feel completely safe.

"Hmm..." Y/N smiled and stared into the night silently.

"You should go to sleep, Y/N." Harry said seriously. "For one, Hermione would kill me for keeping you up."

"You're not keeping me up," Y/N chuckled, fidgeting with the sleeve of Harry's sweater. "I chose to be up. You go."

Y/N smiled, gently wriggling out of his arms and scooting away. Harry huffed loudly, grabbing onto one of her arms.

"Y/N, come on."

"I can't sleep." Y/N explained. "I really tried to- several times, but I just couldn't."

"Do you want to sleep with me?" Harry asked.

"What?" Y/N frowned, snapping out of her weak voice. "Sleep with you? Is that even allowed?"

"It's not, but there're no stair-slides getting in your way." Harry shrugged, giving her a small smile.  "Come with me."

"You sure?" Y/N asked weakly. "I don't want to disturb you more than I already have, Harold."

"Disturb me?" Harry chuckled slightly, standing up onto his feet. "I've slept in a cupboard under the stairs for ten years, Niff. Nothing disturbs me in my sleep."

"Except those dreams about You-Know-Who." Y/N reminded him grimly.

"But they're just... dreams." Harry said quietly. "So what do you say?"

"I'm not going to promise that I'll fall asleep." Y/N grinned weakly, extending her hands. Harry chuckled and took hold of them, before pulling her up to her feet.

"Is that a yes?" He asked, not wanting to stop looking at her.

"OK. It's an OK." said Y/N, giving him a hug around the waist.

"How's that any different from a 'yes'?" Harry asked, grinning slightly, as he hugged her back and grabbing the back of her head, before kissing her on the head once again.

"'Cause I don't want to sound too enthusiastic." Y/N grinned, trying not to chuckle. It surprised her how quickly her friends can brighten up her mood.

And with that, Harry put an arm around her and messed up her hair, making her scoff loudly, before walking up to the boys dormitory.

"I still find it unfair how these stairs don't turn into a slide when I come up here." Y/N whispered, as they reached the door to Harry's dormitory.

"Dunno, ask Godric." Harry grinned. Y/N rolled her eyes. "Just a warning, both Neville and Ron snores, Dean grinds very loudly, and-"

"-you have nightmares. Got it." Y/N nodded firmly. Harry gave her a bitter look, before opening the door.

Y/N looked around the dark circular dormitory, which was a lot like the girls' dormitory- but with five beds instead of four.

She couldn't see the others, because their blinds surrounded them completely, and couldn't hear a single snore or any sound at all.

"Lucky day, today." Harry whispered, closing the door behind him.

Y/N sniggered and followed Harry to his bed between Ron and Seamus.

Harry pulled over his thick blanket and crawled into the warm bed. He scooted deep into the bed and patted the space he had left for Y/N to join him.

"C'mon," he whispered. "only if you're comfortable, though."

"Thanks, Harold." Y/N smiled weakly and crawled under the cozy covers. Immediately, she realized how tired and sleepy she was.

Now, she could hear everything in the room- Ron's minor snores, Neville's muttering and Harry's gentle heartbeat.

She sighed and turned to her side slowly. Harry had his eyes closed, his face rested, with the slightest smile on his lips, his hair messier than ever. He was beautiful.

"I know you're looking at me." he said quietly, not opening his eyes.

"As if," Y/N whispered back.

A smile crept on Harry's face and he pulled her into his arms. Y/N sighed and wrapped an arm around his torso, resting her head between his shoulder and neck.

"Your glasses are still on." Y/N acknowledged, frowning up at Harry's peaceful face.

"Can you get them off for me." Harry muttered.

"That didn't sound like a question." Y/N laughed, making Harry laugh too. She quickly grabbed Harry's glasses and placed it on his nightstand.

"Thanks, Niff. Now, come back here." Harry said sleepily, patting the surface of his bed childishly.

"Sleepy Harry is a different breed." Y/N grinned.

"Do you like this breed?"

"I'm Newt Scamander's granddaughter. I love every breed and species." Y/N sighed and moved back under the covers, as Harry threw a protective arm around her back.

He had the ability to make her feel safe and loved, even after the loss she'd been through the past month. And Y/N knew, that was what her mother meant when she told her- to live on.

Harry peeked open one eye and looked at her, just as Y/N closed her eyes.

He wanted for her to stay there forever, so he could keep her safe. He was more than glad that she found comfort in him, instead of shutting him and the others away. The past month has really proved the world the Gryffindor part in her.

"You're mad." Harry muttered, so quietly, that even Y/N could barely hear him.

"What for?" Y/N muttered, frowning curiously, slightly taken back.

"For loving me."

"Who said I loved you?" Y/N grinned, glad that it was dark, because she had blushed intensely.

"No one, I just can feel it." said Harry, and pulled Y/N closer to him. "What, am I wrong?"

"No."

"No?"

"Good night, Harold."

"Good night, Y/N."

And from all the crying and mourning, Y/N felt so tired, that she fell asleep almost right away. With Harry's arm wrapped around her, under his warm blanket, and with his hair brushing against her cheek gently.

Harry smiled when he noticed that Y/N had actually gone asleep and closed his eyes once more.

"I love you too, Niff."

ϟ ͛ r⃒⃘

"YEAH, WAKEY WAKEY, HARRY!"

"Ron, calm your guts down-!"

"Calm d-? DON'T BLOODY TELL ME TO CALM DOWN!"

"You're going to wake her up!"

"OK, AM I MISSING SOMETHING?" Ron bellowed, his eyes wider than ever, looking at Harry's bed. His ears were almost the same colour as his hair.

It was eleven in the morning. Luckily, Dean, Seamus and Neville managed to go down to breakfast without noticing anything, but unfortunately, Ron did.

Y/N stirred and flipped to her side in Harry's bed, her whole body under Harry's blanket.

Harry looked at her in alarm and froze. When she stopped moving and continued in her sleep, he sighed and turned back to the panicking Ron.

Since Y/N had flipped to her other side, he was able to gently crawl out of bed.

"WOAH, WOAH, WOAH!" Ron slapped his hands over his eyes and turned away abruptly.

"What?" Harrry frowned, glaring at Ron's back. "Why are you even acting like this? Swallowed a Goblin lately? Should I be concerned?"

"You..." Ron slowly turned his head back to Harry and slowly removed his hands from his eyes. "Oh."

"What do you mean, Oh?" Harry asked impatiently, pulling on a new sweater.

"Oh." Ron repeatedly, sighing slowly and loudly. "I thought- Oh, blimey. I thought-"

"What, exactly?" Harry shot.

"I- I really- oh, never you mind. I don't like that innocent tone of yours." Ron blushed red. Harry continued to frown at his best friend in confusion.

"I don't want to know what you were thinking, but she was crying and couldn't sleep- stayed up 'till three in the morning." Harry said, looking weirdly at Ron.

"Oh- yeah, I forgot about her... mother..." Ron looked guilty at the floor, and the two boys stood there in silence for a while.

"What's going on?" Came Y/N's weak voice.

Harry turned to her and smiled, as the girl rubbed her eyes and stretched lazily.

"Morning, Niff." Harry glanced at Ron quickly, who only continued to stare at the floor.

"Mooorning," Y/N yawned satisfyingly and immediately stood up from Harry's bed, feeling fully energized. "Oh, hey Ron," she smiled at the redhead, as she gave Harry a good morning hug.

"You feeling alright?" Ron asked her carefully. "I heard you couldn't sleep last night. I was just wondering-"

"I'm fine, now, Ron." Y/N replied quickly.

"Oh, alright." Ron nodded, giving her a small smile.

Y/N was going to pull away from Harry's hug, but he pulled her in again and hugged her even tighter.

"Can't- can't breathe, my guy-" Y/N laughed, and waited, before Harry actually released her. "I'm fine, really. I'm visiting my dad this afternoon- it will all be alright again."

Harry and Ron swapped a quick glance and gave Y/N a warm reassuring smile.

"Now... I'm hungry." Y/N said brightly, putting her hair into a bun. "Eaten anything yet, Ron?"

"No, I-" Ron smiled cheekily. "I just woke up. Hey, don't look at me like that! Without Harry, I'm not capable of waking up early."

"I've figured." Y/N shrugged. "Let's hope we can join in for lunch."

The three trotted down the spiral staircase, as their stomachs growled hungrily. As they entered the room, they found Colin Creevey and Ginny sitting by the fireplace.

"There you are, Ron," Ginny beamed, as the three walked into the room. "I actually thought-"

The tiny redhead girl froze, as she saw Y/N, walking down after Ron, with Harry holding her hand.

Ginny raised her eyebrows and she stared at Y/N, and then at the boys' staircase, before turning red. Y/N blinked at her blankly. She and Ginny had always gotten along well together, and Ginny was particularly interested in her love life.

"Good morning," Y/N greeted the two third years.

"Hey, Y/N! Hey, Harry!" Colin greeted them brightly. "Hi, Ron!" Colin reminded Y/N of an excited Golden Retriever. "Harry, Mr Bagman wanted to remind you that the champions were to meet up at the Quidditch pitch at two o' clock, sharp!"

"Right. Thanks, Colin." Harry nodded politely at the blonde boy, who waved it off proudly, his camera swinging bellow his neck.

"Harry, I was wondering if you could also sign-"

"Later, Colin. We haven't eaten breakfast yet." Ron said bitterly.
