Y3 ☽༓・*˚⁺‧͙ The Fall & The Map

"Cheer up, Y/N." Ron said, nudging Y/N's arm. It was the first Quidditch match of the year, Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff, and the weather was horrible. It was raining and the wind was blowing wildly. But that wasn't why Y/N Scamander felt down.

The Quartet were eating breakfast in the Great Hall with the other Gryffindors. Y/N seemed slightly uncomfortable at the fact that everyone was talking about her outburst in Potions from the day before.

"Hey, Y/N..." Harry said softly, catching the girl's attention. "It's alright. They won't be talking about it for long. These rumors last no more than 3 days." He gave her a small grin.

"But it's not a rumor." Y/N said quietly. "It did happen... I still don't know why you three are not scared of me."

"Scared? I'm always scared of you." Harry smirked playfully. Y/N, Ron and Hermione chuckled.

"Thanks, Harry." Y/N said. "Don't worry about me, today's your big day. Destroy those Hufflepuffs for us." She smirked.

"Take a look at their team captain, before you say anything." Hermione said in a sing-song voice. She jerked her head at the Hufflepuff table.

A really good-looking Hufflepuff 5th year was chatting with his friends and laughing his head off. He had neat blonde hair, and was really tall and seemed to be the popular one of the group. Y/N could see girls giggling at his laughter.

Y/N raised her eyebrows slightly.

"What's his name?" She asked Hermione. Hermione giggled.

"Cedric Diggory. Quidditch Captain and Prefect of the Hufflepuff house." She replied eagerly. "Handsome, isn't he?"

Y/N stared as Cedric Diggory said something funny, making his whole table burst into laughter. She grinned to herself and turned back.

"Sure," she replied, shrugging slightly.

Harry started to move his spoon in his cereal bowl loudly, making milk spill and causing a disturbing clanging noise. Ron rolled his eyes irritatingly. The boys were both red in the face.

"Why the knotted face, you two?" Hermione asked them with a frown. "Yesterday's dinner not being too friendly?" Y/N smirked.

"He's just good-looking, that's why you like him." Ron said grumpily.

"On the contrary, I don't like him, but I do find him good-looking." Y/N said matter-of-factly. This made Harry less tense, but still red in the face.

"Hey, Potter!" Oliver Wood, the Gryffindor Quidditch Captain called. "It's time! Let's go, you all."

Harry, Y/N, Ron and Hermione stood up from the table and followed Wood down to the Quidditch pitch, along with the other students from different houses.

It was raining quite heavily outside and they were soaked the moment they stepped out of the castle. The stands were already filled with students in raincoats.

"You're going to do great!" Dean Thomas thumped Harry in the back.

"Good luck, Harry!" Said Lavender Brown and Parvati Patil.

"Don't worry about it, mate, you're gonna do brilliant." Ron gave Harry a grin and Hermione hugged him quickly.

"Good luck!" She said enthusiastically.

Y/N then locked eyes with the raven haired boy and grinned, making him turn bright red.

"Good luck, Harry." Y/N said and hugged him tightly, before planting a soft kiss on his cheek. Hermione and Ron smirked at each other knowingly.

The three then walked away to the stands, leaving Harry alone in the rain, numb and red.

"I can't see a single thing!" Y/N yelled through the rain. "I don't think Harry'll find the Snitch in the middle of this rain,"

"Have faith, Y/N!" Hermione encouraged, but also looked concerned.

Gryffindor was in the lead 60 - 40. They could barely hear or see anything through the loud rain, and most definitely could not see which flyer was Harry.

"Oliver Wood, captain of Gryffindor calls for time-out!" Lee Jordan, the Quidditch commentator announced. Y/N looked at Hermione and Ron in worry.

"What's happening?" Y/N asked.

"I don't know, but I'm going to find out!" Hermione said. She left the stands and marched to the side of the Quidditch pitch, leaving Y/N and Ron confused.

She came back moments later, grinning proudly, and telling them she'd find a way to repel the team's Quidditch goggles from the rain.

"Wood looked thrilled," she told them, blushing slightly. Ron grunted.

"What is it with you and Quidditch captains?" he yelled through the rain. Hermione yelled something inaudible back, and Y/N rolled her eyes.

"You lot fight like an old married couple." she said grimly. "Just snog, already." she added. Ron and Hermione fell silent and blushed furiously. Y/N laughed and elbowed them playfully.

"They're back, witches and wizards!" Lee announced excitedly. The Gryffindor team came into view before shooting into the air once again. Y/N and her friends cheered loudly, even though it wouldn't mean a thing through the loud rain.

They played and played for almost half an hour in the windy rain. Gryffindor was still in the lead, 130 to 100. But if Cedric Diggory caught the Snitch, Hufflepuffs puff would be awarded 150 points and would win immediately. Y/N was so cold, and she couldn't feel her feet anymore. Harry and Cedric seemed to be clueless of where the Snitch was.

Suddenly, Y/N could see through the rain that Harry had bolted up into the clouds. He had spotted the Golden Snitch!

"Woah! Looks like Potter has spotted the Snitch, everyone!" Lee yelled. "And Diggory is right after him! They've-! Disappeared into the clouds... aw, man! Look out for air-o-planes!"

No one could see Harry nor Cedric. The grey clouds looked violently dangerous. But Y/N could spot something else in the clouds. She saw, through squinted eyes, a dozens of large hooded figures roaming through the clouds. Y/N and Ron gasped when they realized what they were... dementors.

"No, no no-!" Ron shook his leg nervous.

"No, not now!" Y/N exclaimed. "No, it's too dangerous. I have to go get him, you guys wait here. I'm going to tell Harry."

"What?" Ron and Hermione yelled.

"Are you mad?" Ron said, grabbing onto Y/N's raincoat.

"Y/N, you can't! There's nothing we can do." Hermione chimed in.

But just as Y/N was about to respond, she shrieked in horror. Ron and Hermione turned and gasped as well. The crowd of students screamed as Harry's body was falling through the sky rapidly. His broom was no where in sight and he was undoubtedly unconscious.

"DO SOMETHING!" Ron yelled in panic. "A SPELL- ANYTHING!"

"NO, HARRY!" Hermione screamed, tears pouring out of her eyes. She was too panicked to think of a pell.

Y/N pulled out her wand from her rain coat and pointed it at Harry's body.

"Aresto Momentum!" She yelled at the top of her lungs.

Harry's fall slowed down drastically like it was put in slow motion. He still fell to the muddy ground with a thump-splash sound, but Y/N's spell has helped cushion the fall by a lot. Y/N, Ron and Hermione rushed out of their seats and into the pitch.

Madam Hooch and Professor Dumbledore were crouching over Harry's body.

"Harry," Y/N called, pushing past the professors and kneeling beside Harry. She felt her eyes tear up in worry. Harry's face was pale and his hands were stone cold. Y/N held it tightly. "You're OK, Harry." She whispered. He was breathing- thank Merlin!

"Miss Scamander, Mr Potter will need to be sent to the hospital wing immediately." Professor Dumbledore said gently, putting a hand on her shoulder. Y/N didn't want to let go just yet. "You've saved his life, Y/N... but you have to move out the way, for now."

"Weasley, Granger, take her." Madam Hooch said impatiently.

Ron and Hermione took each of Y/N's hands and pulled her up slowly. Y/N slowly stood up and was hugged by the both of them. She watched as the teachers carried Harry's body back to the castle.

She didn't even realize when Cedric Diggory caught the Snitch.

"Y/N, you were brilliant."

"He would've been dead by now if you didn't-"

"Guys, it was nothing. It was just reflexes."

"Those bloody dementors."

"Dumbledore was furious... wait, he's waking up! Harry, you alright?" Fred Weasley said in worry. Harry's eyes slowly blinked open. "How are you feeling?"

"W-w-what happened?" Harry asked, rubbing his eyes. His friends sighed in relief.

"You fell off your broom, mate." George said. "A good 50 feet."

The whole Gryffindor team (except for Wood) were surrounded his bed, along with Y/N, Ron and Hermione. They were all soaked and Y/N's eyes were slightly red.

"I saw it... again." Harry muttered.

"What did you see?" George asked. Harry gave Y/N, Ron and Hermione a knowing look. Y/N's eyes widened slightly as she realized- he saw the Grim, again. He had told Y/N that he saw a big black dog back at Privet Drive, but Y/N was positive it was just a street dog. But to see the same dog again? Was it a coincidence?

"Harry, tell us what you saw," Alicia Spinet said seriously.

"I- I... it's nothing, probably just hallucinations. Y/N..." Harry whispered. Y/N smiled and laced her hand in his. "What- what about the game? What about Wood?"

Everyone fell silent and avoided Harry's eye contact.

"Harry... no one blames you." Hermione said slowly.

"Who won?" Harry questioned, but he already knew the answer.

"Hufflepuff won." said Angelina Johnson. "Diggory caught the Snitch right after you fell. He was kind enough to ask for a rematch, but it was done." Harry sighed.

"I'm sorry guys," he said quietly.

The Gryffindors burst into declines, saying that it wasn't his fault and that they weren't mad at him at all. This made Harry feel slightly better.

"Wood's in the shower." Fred said. "We're guessing he's trying to drown himself."

"He's not- mad at me, isn't he?" Harry asked

"No one's mad at you, Harry." Katie Bell said with a warm smile. "He's just being, you know, Oliver."

"And what about my Nimbus?" Harry asked suddenly. Everyone traded nervous glances. "Has anyone seen my broom-? Ron... what's that you're carrying?"

Ron gave him a look of pity and moved forwards. He placed the pile of splintered wood pieces he was carrying onto a near by table. It was the ruins of Harry's Nimbus 2000.

"Your broom- it was blown away when you fell," Ron said. "into the Whomping Willow. That horrid tree, you know what it does."

Harry looked at his broken broom sadly. He knew it was gone and no longer fixable. The broom he had for more than 2 years was gone.

"It's alright." He said grimly. Y/N rubbed her thumb against his knuckles gently. She knew perfectly how to make him feel better. Harry felt his stomach do a backflip at her touch. He gave her a weak smile, telling her that he was alright. Ron cleared his throat loudly.

"Need a cough drop, Ronald?" Y/N asked cooly, and Hermione chuckled.

"Honestly, just get a room, already!" Ron said irritatingly. "It's obvious you two fancy each other!" Y/N watched as the Gryffindors smirked.

"Don't go assuming things, Weasley." Y/N muttered, turning slightly red.

"But you're not denying it, aren't you?" Ron smirked.

Y/N quickly let go of Harry's hand and blushed. Harry had to turn to his side to hide the magenta colour in his cheeks.

It was the day of the students's second trip to Hogsmeade. It was snowing silently and the third years were chatting excitedly in the courtyard, getting ready for their trip. Harry was out of the hospital wing and well. He still wasn't allowed to join the others on the trip. Professor McGonagall had told him she would take away their house points if he asked her again.

"We'll be back as soon as possible," Hermione assured Harry.

"Nah, we're just gonna leave you sitting alone here all day." Y/N said sarcastically. Harry rolled his eyes and grinned at her. He immediately stopped when Ron started to smirk.

"You guys go. I'll be waiting in the common room." Harry said with a shrug. But that was quite a lie.

As soon as his friends waved good bye and disappeared out of sight, Harry ran straight to his dormitory to fetch his invisibility cloak. He swung the cloak over his shoulders and disappeared out of sight, before walking back down to the snowy courtyard.

Harry was determined to go this time.

He tiptoed slowly past Fred and George, who were building a snowman in the courtyard. Harry could sense them staring at him mischievously.

But wait... wasn't he under the invisibility cloak? Oh shit, he was leaving footprints.

Harry frowned and tiptoed faster. Fred and George smirked and trotted after him. They went around the raven haired boy and grabbed each of his arms. Harry yelped in horror.

"Hello, Harry," the twins chorused, dragging Harry back into the castle.

"Guys, let me go!" Harry fussed, struggling from their grip. "Let me go, I'm trying to get to Hogsmeade!"

"We know," the twins said together.

They pulled Harry into an empty corridor and pulled his invisibility cloak over his head. Harry came into view and frowned.

"What are you doing-!"

"Shhhh!" The twins hushed. Harry looked at them in confusion.

"What?" Harry asked.

"Well, Harry." George started. "We've been wanting to give you this for Christmas,-"

"-but you seem to be needing it now." Fred finished.

"What?" Harry repeated.

George grinned and pulled out a old rusty-looking piece of parchment from his pocket, before stuffing it into Harry's hands. Harry scoffed.

"What's this rubbish?" he asked in confusion, staring at the old parchment.

"'What's this rubbish', he says?" George raised his eyebrows. "That, my friend, is the Marauder's Map."

"Funny," Harry stared at the blank parchment and huffed.

"To reveal it," Fred said professionally. "you must tap it three times and say-"

"'I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.'" The twins said at the same time, tapping the piece of parchment three times.

Sure enough, the map revealed itself. It was a map of the Hogwarts castle, with tiny labels of people's names, moving, everywhere.

"This, is the entire map of Hogwarts," George said proudly. Harry gaped.

"Showing everyone-"

"Everyone?" Harry exclaimed.

"Everywhere,-" Fred smiled.

"Everywhere?" Harry's eyes widened.

"Of every time!" The twins chorused. Sometimes it was kind of scary how they finished each other's sentences.

"You should take the One-eyed Witch's passage to get to Hogsmeade. It's the safest and fastest path." George said. "And Filch doesn't know about it!"

"Brilliant!" Harry grinned and examined the map. "Where'd you get it?" He asked the twins.

"That, my friend, is for us to know-,"

"-and for you to not find out." Fred said and winked.

"Alright," Harry said grimly.

"To hide it," Fred continued, "tap on the map three times and say,-"

"'Mischief managed.'"

ϟ ͛ △⃒⃘

"Honestly, I don't think it's haunted." Y/N said. She, Ron and Hermione were standing at the back of Hogsmeade village, gazing at the Shrieking Shack. It was a rusty old shack that was rumored to be haunted. Villagers say that they've heard howling and shrieking from the old house.

"Ahhh, shopping for a new dream house?" Someone sneered. The three Gryffindors whipped their heads around to see Malfoy and his two Slytherin friends sneering at them. Of course, they've been following the three again.

"Shove off, Malfoy!" Y/N hissed.

"Or what?" Malfoy teased. "Gonna explode my head off, Scamander?" The three Slytherins howled with laughter. It was known to the whole castle that Draco Malfoy fancied Y/N Scamander, but did a terrible job at expressing it. "You shouldn't be wasting your time with blood-traitors and Mudbloods, Scamander. I've warned you in our first year, remember?"

Y/N and Ron lunged forward, but Hermione grabbed their arms.

"Just let me punch that what-so-called face of his." Y/N said through gritted teeth.

"And I'll help," Ron said.

"Well, Weasel bee," Malfoy smirked. "Can't say I'm surprised, seeing you here. Don't your family sleep in, uh- one room?"

"Shut your mouth, Malfoy," Ron muttered.

"Boys, I think it's time to teach Weasel bee how to respect his superiors," Malfoy sneered, adjusting his jumper teasingly.

Hermione chuckled sarcastically and stepped forward.

"Hope you don't mean yourself!" She snapped. What a queen, Y/N thought.

Malfoy's face stretched with disgust.

"How dare you speak to me!" He spat. "You filthy little mudblood-!"

Thump!

He was his by a giant snowball. Y/N looked around, confused. It had came out of nowhere.

"Who's there?!" Malfoy asked in horror.

Another snowball came, flying out of nowhere, hitting Malfoy right in the face once again. The boy yelled.

"Don't just stand there, do something!" Malfoy exclaimed. But his friends were being swung around by the same invisible person, and one of them was kicked in the arse.

Y/N, Ron and Hermione laughed cheerfully, knowing exactly who was doing it.

"AHHHH!" Malfoy yelled in horror. He was being dragged by the legs around by the invisible person, and his eyes were wide in shock.

"The shack is haunted after all!" Y/N said through her laughs.

Malfoy was dropped to the ground. He quickly stood up and backed away, scrambling out of the place. His two friends followed, tripping on their pants along the way.

The Gryffindors laughed and laughed. Suddenly, Hermione's hair and Ron's hat string started bouncing around in mid air. Y/N felt an arm wrap around her waist and yelped slightly.

"Harry!" Y/N said playfully.

Harry emerged from under his invisibility cloak and chuckled at their horrifies faces, one
hand on Ron's shoulder, one hand around Y/N's waist.

"Bloody hell," Ron sighed. "That was not funny!"

But at the end, they all burst into another fit of laughter.
