Andromeda sighed and followed her aunt to the deep throny jungle. She felt like danger was lurking in the woods but she quieted down her loud thoughts and fastened her thin legs to walk beside her. The noise of the owls resonated as they continuted to walk. The moon brightened their long narrow road. Thick throny branched trees were covering the light of the moon or the stars to flow as it pleased.
She ignored the loud startling sound of her heartbeat, taking a deep breath as she walked. She caught a glimpse of that magical flask on Farah's hand.
" What is that?" Andro asked assesing the material with her wondering eyes.
" It is rare magical water found near ancient river called Nile. It is used to test the rank of an Amorian, also known as test tub. You instructors will pleased to know the results"
" Others will train me too?" She asked.
" Yes you think. I am enough to train a blue fire alone?" She sounded amused.
" No I just thought......" She trailed off.
" We can stall the beast for you but other than that you are on your own."
Andro didn't want to think about that for now, at least it is better than being alone.
" That day...you said something rather odd." She started tiptoeing.
" Go on ask." sighed Farah.
"That day you said. My mother was losing her powers because of me.... why is that?"
" You have a very sharp memory." Farah said amused." Well every amorian girl who gave birth loses her powers. The more she gives birth the more she will lose it since your mother gave birth to two. Her powers are almost gone." answered Farah.
" Does it happen to the men?" She asked again.
" No, it doesn't because the men don't posses it. It is the women who are the warriors."
Andro has never heard of such power. A power only women had. History was only written about powerful men, sure there were women here and there but most of them were silenced by the men who had more privilages than them.
" So, do you have a child?" Andro asked smiling trying to brighten up the mood the dark forest stole from her.
" No." Farah's face ashened as if she was reminiscenced a horrible memory.
Suddenly, a crunching uproar rebounded on the quiet place as though something was stirring it's soiled ground. She fluttered her eye close as she breathed hastily. She opened them again to look at it the thing that startled her to her very bones.
" What... was... that?" She whispered, her lips trembling as she voiced.
" It was probably the trees moving to catch a firecrackers. You might want to hold on tight too." She gazed down to look at fearful Andro. " They whirl a little."
Farah said as though it was the most usual thing.
The trees and the land shook once more, shaking the leaf out of the moving trees. She jumped unintentionally and grapped Farah's emerald cloak.
Dizziness, scraped through her mind for a while until it stopped. She caught one leaf that was violently ruffled off it's dwelling place. It was no ordinary leaf. It was red and had golden marking on it's edges. She took it in her hands wide eyed but it didn't last long the color was drained out of it, leaving it as dark as the night. She examined it back and forth.
" This is no common forest. It is called the Whirling Woodland. You see it knows when new visitors arrive. It won't spin unless someone new shows up. The whirling will go on and on depending on the weight of the new visitor that it encountered but it only whirls in the night. In broad daylight, it is just another forest but in the night it feasts on flies."
Not soon, after those words left her mouth a branch of a nearby tree moved as though it was alive, to catch a firecracker. It slowly killed the fly, leaving the ray of light demolished under it's strong grasp. It was as though the forest feeds on light. She gulped, feeling her hair prickle at the back of her head.
What amazed her was that Farah didn't seem too frightened as they went deeper and deeper into the woods that whirl in the night. She finally caught a prevue of a fire as they heaved nearer and nearer to it. Andro saw two hooded figures circling the blazing fire. The figures turned around as they heard footsteps approach.
A light faired skin woman with a frosty hair smiled cheerfully at andro. Andro can't help but stare at her white locks. It was white as snow. She was wearing emerald cloak. She must be a green vulture. She thought. The other one had a long silky black hair and a red armour on her slim body. Her cold stare made andro's stomach churn in uneasiness.
"Warriors meet Andromeda." Said Farah. Reem nodded flashing a,toothy smile but the red one nodded grumpily.
" Andromeda this are your instructors , Reem will teach you about invisibility and power control." She pointed at the frosty haired woman.
"Raven will teach you about archery" She then pointed to the grumpy red fox with beautiful features.
" While I will teach you about combat."
" Are you really the Andromeda ?" asked Reem smiling in excitement. Andro nodded swiftly as she gave them a small smile which the frosty vulture was kind enough to return.
"Goodness it's an honor to train you. You look so much like your...." Reem was interjected by Farah's eyes, posing mid sentence.
Raven muttered something under her breath glaring at Andro with the corner of her eyes.
"Raven we have discussed this. Didn't we?" Farah growled as Raven nodded sternly giving Andro the fakest smile she had ever seen.
What's wrong with her? Did she do something to her? But how could she ? She just got here. This was their very first encounter.
" So why isn't she dressed in her armour yet?" Reem said. " The moonlight won't wait forever. "
" She can't shift yet. She just found out about her test results." sighed farah.
"There seems like there isn't much she can do ." Raven smirked.
"What is she then?" Reem asked eagerly, ignoring raven's harsh comment.
"She is a blue fire."
Reem gaped in awestruck expression, gasping whilst Raven rolled her eyes. Andro lowered her gaze to the ground as she blushed. She wasn't used to attention since she was always the outcast.
"Warriors a word." Reem summoned them giving Andro warm comforting smile to Andro.
They sighed following Farah as Andro stood awkwardly watching them stroll to the other side of the fire. She couldn't make out what they were saying since they were whispering, but she could hear 'How?!' or 'too powerful!' When they eventually raised their voice higher than they intended to. She new it was wrong to eavesdrop but she wanted to hear what they were saying since it was obviously about her. They finally ended their banter and returned to where she was at.
"Alright Andro your first lesson is with me. I will help you shift and become invisible." Reem smiled.
Andro nodded trying to look as though her heart wasn't about to jump out of her chest. Reem faced Andro.
Her frosty hair glowed like the moon as she smiled warmly. Her clamness was visible in her deep dark brown eyes. She looked happy despite her sadness. Adjusting her cloak, she walked in the circles, circling Andro, drawing a circle with her shiny sliver sword. She uttered the word in inaudible voice.
" The way to shift is in your spirit
Summon your strength to swing from a secret to as vest
All you have to do is open your heart
Close your eyes until you see the light
For the light can only be seen in the darkest night" Reem mummered, circling Andromeda
Andro didn't fully undrstand how this was going to help her shift but she closed her eyes, darkness invaded her vision completely as she awaited for this so called blue light.
" focus on your happy memory
And cast all the pain away
Seek for the sparks that fly
Eyes must be shut until you see them glow near by."
" Focus on your happy memory." She said
Happy memory, now those were hard to find. She searched every edge of her brain for it but she couldn't find where she was most happy at. She thought of reading books at first but she felt like there was much stronger memory than that.
Finally she found it. It was the moment when her mother had stroked her chubby cheeks. She had said to always find the light.
Amidst, her dark vision she could see as flickering dot of blue light getting closer and closer. It was only one but then others trailed it as though it was their leader. It took them ages to get close but everytime it did so it was blinding her.The lights were too much that she wanted open it. The frosty lady had whispered ' Eyes must be shut until you see them glow nearby ' she could feel someone's hold on her , sticking her to the ground. Then the light consumed her and she could feel the blue flame burning her soul.
" Open now " Reem muttered in her ear and she didn't waste a time in obeying.
The dark sky was back and the blue lights were gone but she looked down and saw the change she was in as blue armour with a waistband of the sword was marked with her name.
She could feel a new amendment in the strength of her body. She felt stronger and braver.
Reem praised Andro grinning from ear to ear. "Bravo most kids take a whole week to shift. I'm impressed. I knew you were special but I didn't understand just how much until now."
"Thank you" Andro flushed, her gaze not leaving the ground.
