3. Planning
Maeve stormed through the Abbatoir. The setting sun was casting a golden shadow on the compound. She had one thing on her mind. Just that. Nothing else.
Murmurs of voice floated out from the dining room. She turned the course of her path and headed it's way with a determined expression.
"Hey Maeve! Join us." someone said, approaching her with a glass of scotch in hand.
"You!" she ignored the invite and held a strong stare on Marcel who sat at the head of the long table. "We need to talk." the room feel dangerously silent following her threatening word.
"Goodbye Marcel." wished Diego before he downed his glass of scotch. "You're on your own." all fifteen something vampires in the room scurried out of the room leaving Marcel alone to face Maeve.
He nervously gulped and kept his eyes staring at Maeve who prowled over to him.
The legs of the chair screeched as they were dragged on the floor. Maeve situated the chair next to Marcel and sat down facing the said man with anger in her eyes.
"Why didn't you tell me Nik was in the city? Has been for what seems like about three months now? Or that you had Elijah stacked somewhere here...all this while?"
Marcel licked his lips contemplating his words carefully. "Oh, uh...you see I just figured you wanted nothing to do with any of them--considering what happened with Elijah."
Maeve rolled her eyes and leaned back in the chair. Her eyes bored into Marcel, a silent stare was enough for Marcel to gulp and be more nervous than ever. "Maybe it was a bad idea."
"You think?" she asked, "look, I don't give a fuck about Elijah? Okay? But I do for the rest of them. It matters to me what is going on with the rest of them."
"Really?" asked Marcel attempting to sound surprised.
"Yes. So please if there is anything else you need to tell me...tell me now." Marcel fell silent. Maeve watched him blink his eyes and slowly lean back into the chair. Marcel never flinched his eyes away from Maeve, while his head was running in a spiral about what to say.
Should he tell her the entire truth about Davina? Should he tell her that she has Elijah? Would it be better for everyone if he told Maeve that Davina wanted to find a way to kill an original without hurting him and Josh? Or was it also a wise decision to tell Maeve about his true intentions with every move he's made thus far with her, with Davina and now even Klaus?
All the thoughts ran around his head and then--after a minute he decided to speak, "nothing else."
Maeve smiled genuinely. She believed his words and Marcel was content with the reaction. Maeve was quite the naive girl whom Marcel knew, could make do all that he wanted with the right words and a few kind gestures.
"And..." began Maeve but Marcel cut her off,
"I didn't think telling you that he raised me would be important."
"Marcel Gerard! I just can't with you." she shook her head in denial and stood up from the chair.
"Monkey..."
"You listen to me now and listen to me clearly..." she began, looking at him sharply. "I don't care what sort of old time bad blood you have with the man who raised you, but if you and this war that you two plan on waging against one another is going to burn this city and me and my plan into flames, I will murder you both."
Marcel nodded his head frantically in response. Maeve smiled at him, "enjoy your dinner."

"Alright. Thank you." Maeve had a bright smile etched on her face from the minute she received the call. The evening was turning out to be a celebration she longed for, as did her entire pack.
With a silent squeak she squeezed Florence's arm and grinned like a goof while attempting to listen to her own praise over the call.
Bartholomew from Spain's Marquez family of Lycans phoned at the time of the setting sun to inform Maeve about the improvements and actions being taken in the country of Italy.
"Thank you Barty, I assure you we both are going to earn a lot from this."
"Yes we are. Pleasure doing business with you Maeve. Give my regards to Onyx and Marcel." The call ended immediately.
Maeve turned to Florence, "call Zeke and tell him to get our lawyers. We are going full in." she did not wait for Florence to respond and ran out immediately.
Maeve ran to her car and sped to the Abbatoir from the tall building she purchased to set up her workplace. Maeve was laughing maniacally to herself, driving from the North end of the city of New Orleans. Maeve still had much to administer, things and people to take care of, and plan.
Maeve parked her car hastily by the sidewalk and skipped into the building. "Marcel!" she shrieked in happiness. If only that smile would have stayed longer.
Her eyes fell on him in particular. He looked tired, and just as angry. His eyes went wide as well seeing her merrily skip into the compound. Elijah Mikaelson clearly had not paced himself enough to expect Maeve to still be around.
Both stared at each other, neither having much to say. Maeve did have a few words to use to express but she held herself. Maeve decided on averting her gaze, not wanting to disrupt the mood she was in.
"Marcel!" she squeaked resuming her erratic behaviour from moments before.
"Is everything okay?" was his first reaction. Marcel took a long stride and stood in front of her, successfully blocking her view of Elijah.
"Barty just called. They are moving tomorrow morning." Marcel's eyes went wide and mouth fell agape.
"Are...ar--are you serious?" he asked. Maeve nodded her head rapidly. Marcel laughed joyously and hugged the young lycan. He pulled her up in his arms and twirled her around making her giggle.
"Holy shit!" he cursed. "Holy shit. Holy shit. Holy shit. This is fantastic! How...how did it happen?"
"Apparently, I have become quite the danger to life and the soul of ancestry of us Lycans." Marcel threw his head back and bent his knees in laughter as did Maeve.
"That means that it's..."
"Fuck yeah! They wouldn't know what hit em" laughed Maeve.
Their laughter that erupted and echoed in the compound struck oddly to Elijah. He glanced at Klaus's way for an answer but all he noticed was a blunt look and a straight gaze.
"We have to celebrate!"
"Oh yes! Yes we do. Also, combined 49 percent in Opal Azure. Bartholomew's chain of five star hotels. He called it a sign of good faith."
"Cheese pizza with pepperoni, extra spicy, nachos with peri peri and cheese, garlic bread with cheese dip and bourbon."
"Bitch please!" said Maeve. "Tonight calls for Tequila. Call Florence and set it up, I'll get the tequila." Maeve finally glanced at the Mikaelson brothers who watched the two interact.
"Set it up. I'll drop these two off wherever their coffins are and be right back."
"They are big boys, they'll go on their own."
"Nah. Besides the older one there has shown his stalking skills before. Twice actually. I'd rather he not know my whereabouts." said Maeve trying to sound convincing.
"Alright. Gentlemen." Marcel threw one last glare at the brothers and disappeared into the house.
"The car's outside gentleman." she stepped out of the Abbatoir with the two right behind her.
Just by the car, Elijah stopped Maeve. "Maeve I--"
"Screw you, okay? I know you are familiar with the phrase use and throw? That's exactly what I did. All I want is to pick Nik's brain."
"And you couldn't say anything inside?" asked Klaus raising a single brow.
"Would you rather I did?" She opened the drivers side of the door just about to slide it when Elijah decided to speak again,
"Tuu learnt to drive?"
Maeve threw a deadly glare at him, "yeah, see...Marcel didn't hesitate or had fun out of my sheer lack of skills. He actually bothered to teach." she taunted the original. "If you don't trust me, the road is wide enough for you to have space to walk away." saying so, she took her seat.
The ride began silently as Maeve drove toward the Plantation house where the Mikaelson siblings currently resided.
"I was thinking of using the tactic you used last summer for me and Stefan to deal with you-know-whos." she began. "What do you think? I've got a lot, I've got Intel and spies."
"Sounds great, I have something better for you." Klaus began laying out a plan for Maeve. She listened intently to him, her lips began curling into a grin as Klaus's plan registered in her brain.
"You are diabolical!" she praised him.
"Riddle me something though," he asked, "since when did you get so soaked in all of this plotting?"
Maeve glanced at him momentarily before she resumed looking at the road ahead, "a wise vampire once told me that love and care are the greatest weaknesses of anyone." Maeve gazed at Klaus again, this time maintaining eye contact, "I know now, Nik, you were right. I stopped caring about other people four months ago and look where I am now--feared by so many, just my name is intimidating enough now all across Europe and majority of Asia."
"I'm proud of you Maeve." Maeve smiled at Klaus.
In no time they reached the house. Both of the brothers got out of the car with Klaus wishing Maeve a good night. Elijah stopped by the passenger side window and leaned down to look at Maeve through the open window.
"Maeve could we please talk?" he asked. His only hope with the conversation was to clear out the tension between. The last thing he wanted was for Maeve to turn into another version of Klaus, like it seemed in that moment.
"You want to talk?" she repeated sounding astounded.
"Please." Maeve forced a smile on her face, looking directly into his eyes. She kept her eyes on him and stepped her foot on the accelerator and drove away. The speed at which she did it caused Elijah to almost lose his balance. He stared at the car up until it vanished from his view line.
He sighed in defeat and turned away. Klaus watched his brother's defeated face and remembered the hostility of Maeve from that same morning. He gathered enough queues to assume he doesn't know the entire story.
Maeve smiled deviantly driving away from the house, replaying the quick few seconds of that flabbergasted look on Elijah as he stumbled on his own two feet because of her.
"God help Elijah from a pissed off me." she mumbled to herself, condescendingly.
