"Even though what you did is . . . Is beyond despicable and I'm disappointed in every imaginable way possible, I'm not going to give you the third degree." Jimin uttered, eyes focused on Taehyung who was ready to be belittled.
"Why not?" Taehyung inquired, almost wishing Jimin would insult him just so he could feel better but Jimin wasn't like that.
Jimin sighed softly and took another bite out of his muffin thanks to the motel staff. "Because I'm sure the twins did a number on you already and me and Leehyun broke up three or four years ago, who am I to hold that against you now?"
"You didn't know until now." Answered the younger.
It was as if Taehyung was asking to be ridiculed. "What do I get out of it? I embarrassed the both of us at the game and you . . ." He trailed, thinking of what he could say next to fit what he meant. "You looked as if you were genuinely sorry, as if you meant every word you said. I'll never know if you truly did because in the end, it's your words against mine but you told me you were sorry you came back to us with the intent of fixing what you did."
"I can only say I'm sorry so much but I'll write it down until I have carpal tunnel in both of my hands if it means you get the message." Taehyung spoke with pure honesty, eyes watering as he watched Jimin closely.
The elder was first to break away the eye contact, biting down on his bottom lip. He then nodded, setting the half-eaten muffin down on the plate that was placed on the small table. "Good thing you don't have to." He uttered. "What do you plan on doing?"
"Doing for what?" Taehyung asked, unaware of the sudden subject change.
"Do you plan on staying in America with the twins or going back to Korea?"
The question was very random but it was a hell of a question. Taehyung didn't think of what he wanted to do or what he should do. He didn't even know what he wanted to do tonight.
"Uh, what are you doing?" He turned the question back to Jimin who hummed, leaning back in the lousy chair and looking back at Taehyung. "I feel like I'm throwing away a lot of money staying here and I don't have much of a purpose being in America, I might just go back to Korea tomorrow morning."
"So you're staying tonight?"
"Kind of have to I think."
"Why don't we do something . . . Just me and you so we can catch up and recall old times? Not to throw a pity party and please, please don't feel bad for me, but I've been so lonely."
Jimin pressed his lips together, brows furrowing ever so slightly.
"I felt so lonely in the years I was gone and I know that's my own fault and I deserved it, every suffering moment of it." Taehyung claimed, a pained smile lingering his lips. "I would just love if we could hang out and not worry on what the others did." He added on, the once pain in his smile slowly subsiding at the thought of hanging out with his old bestie.
"What do you have in mind?" Jimin wondered, crossing his arms lazily over his chest. He didn't feel bad for Taehyung because he did ultimately deserve a punishment of the sorts but he didn't think that Taehyung needed to be punished anymore.
"Ah, didn't think I would get this far." He nervously chuckled but hummed in thought. "Oh! Maybe we could go out to eat together and star gaze or something, maybe watch movies here like you talked about at the game. We can order some takeout and just pig out if that's what you would like. It's really up to you."
Jimin thought about it for a moment, taking in all suggested ideas. "Now that you say those, how about we just stay here and order takeout? I think that sounds like the best option." He said, not feeling ready to just go outside and go to places when they could be lazy at the motel.
The two wasted no time to order food and throw on some random western show to play in the background while they waited for the food to arrive.
Jimin eyes had caught something and was unsure on how to bring it up or ask if he should ask but he was so curious. It was a light red/purple circle on Taehyung's neck. It was hidden a bit by his T-shirt but when the boy moved, it was obvious.
Jimin couldn't imagine the Jeon Twins just giving in and going in straight from the get-go but he also couldn't picture Taehyung just going out of his way to have sex right after what happened, especially with a stranger.
It didn't look faded but just like a light hickey. He tried to think of situations that might've left a mark right there, like a burn or maybe the boy was choked.
At that thought, Jimin internally panicked and opened his mouth once feeling a tad bit anxious. "What's on your neck?" He inquired after minutes of just staring at it.
Taehyung looked to his side and cocked a brow. "What?"
"I asked what was on your neck, right around the hem of your shirt. Kind of looks like a hickey." Jimin now kind of hoped it was and that Taehyung wasn't hurt.
The boy heard what Jimin referred it to as and hummed, just shaking his head and looking back towards the TV though he didn't understand what was being said since he didn't speak English and that's all the American programs offered. "It's nothing." He mumbled. "Man, this food takes forever."
It had to be the most obvious thing ever; Taehyung trying to change the subject. It wasn't even a smooth transition. Jimin pursed his lips before continuing. "Which twin did it? Jungkook, right? I knew he was still hooked up on you. It isn't a bad thing, just means he really felt something when you guys were together."
"It's not really important as to who did it." Taehyung uttered.
"So it is a hickey?"
"That's not what I meant-"
"You didn't correct me when I said it looked like a hickey so I'm just going to say it's a hickey. You must've forgot I know when you're lying, Tae, we were friends for years. You act exactly the same." Jimin nudged. He was right. Taehyung had the same antics as when he was younger, so quiet at times and bad at lying and changing the subject.
That made Taehyung chuckle a slight bit, recalling their friendship back then and how it's similar to now. He felt embarrassed and nervous at the same time, knowing how right Jimin was. But he still didn't want to answer what was being asked.
Jimin noticed and decided to stop pushing the topic, letting out a soft sigh. He wished Taehyung would be honest and tell him but it was clear he didn't want to quite open up about it just yet.
"Jeongguk's going to be at a conference today or whatever they're called." Jimin said. "Since he was starting and won the game, they wanted to interview him. Want to watch it with me? Better than whatever this shit is."
Taehyung checked the time, seeing it was just about mid-day. "I guess we can watch it," he answered. "Wouldn't kill us."
Jimin fished for the remote and flipped through channels until he got to ESPN and saw a very familiar face appear.
It was already a few moments in since Jeongguk looked super chill and was in the mist of answering something.
He was speaking English and though his English wasn't superior and awfully cute, he was still trying. There was a translator present just in case Jeongguk needed assistance with a particular word or sentence.
"How was it to be a young starter? You're straight from college and foreign as well, it must be overwhelming for someone like you who just arrived." A man called out, making Jeongguk look towards his translator who did his job.
The quarterback smiled and began to answer. "I've worked very hard to be where I am." He said in really good English. "Um, it does tend to get a bit much at times with a . . . Language barrier and pressure on me and the team, but we all put forth great effort." He looked so proud of himself for answering all in English. He had his infamous bunny-like smile, eyes shining with all the bright lights and cameras on him.
It was so cute and had Taehyung grinning. He felt like a proud boyfriend but then realized how Jeongguk almost didn't want anything to do with Taehyung.
Jimin watched closely and he could see how Taehyung reacted, how his cheeks were dusted in a light shade of pink and his smile was wide. He also knew who Taehyung had a little one-night stand with after seeing a scratch of some sort when the rookie turned his head a bit to the left.
Before anymore could be said, there was a knock on the door, causing the older to push to his feet and go to the door.
He was expecting their takeout but when he opened the door and was faced by Jungkook, he was surprised and quite baffled to say the least.
"Taehyung here?" The twin asked, making Jimin frown. "Why?" He returned.
"C'mon, Jimin, do you need to make everything hard? I just asked if he was here, if not, I'll look elsewhere." Jungkook huffed, not able to see inside since Jimin didn't hold the door so wide.
The other rolled his eyes and pushed open the door, revealing inside and showing Taehyung who was a bit confused. He was already surprised by just hearing Jungkook's voice, even more when the aforementioned asked for him personally.
"This better be good, you had my hopes up for our food." Jimin said with clear attitude, arms crossed over his chest as he leaned back on the doorframe.
Jungkook saw the one he was looking for and it was instant butterflies but he drowned out the feeling, walking on inside without Jimin's permission.
The youngest wasted little to no time and cut straight to what he came here for.
"Want to go somewhere?"
