"I really do appreciate you giving me a chance to hangout with you . . . Outside of your bedroom." Taehyung uttered, wishing to create some conversation in the awkward silence.
Jungkook's and Taehyung's 'date' was a lot more talkative compared to this.
Taehyung just tried to remain patient. He knew the two were very different and what worked for one might not work for the other.
"Really? You don't regret it?" Wondered Jeongguk dully, figuring he could contribute to the makeshift conversation.
"Of course really. I don't know why you think I would regret it." Taehyung replied soon after, no hesitation.
"Well, I'm not really doing much for this so-called date. Besides now, I think I've said about four words." Jeongguk kept his gaze forward, not matching Taehyung's glances. He didn't want to look over.
"I like your company more than your words. Your words can either be really harsh or really sarcastic." Admitted the elder, appreciating the side-profile of the Jeon Twin.
Jeongguk snickered lightly at that, knowing it was most likely true. "Ah, well, in that case, you're welcome. And . . . I guess I'm not entirely mad I decided on coming along."
That had Taehyung's lips parting, eyes looking up at the NFL player. They walked down the path, just like Jungkook and Taehyung did, without the bird seeds.
"Really? Really-Really?" He sounded much like a child, eyes bright and a forming smile making its display across his face.
"Yes, Tae, really-really." Jeongguk rolled his eyes, unable to control his own smile.
The twin had repeated some mental notes in his head. By mental notes, he meant Jungkook's wise words.
After everyone had 'went to bed', Jeongguk found himself back in the kitchen with stale cookies in his hand.
The only difference was that it was Jungkook who came down the steps and not Taehyung.
"Why are you up?" Jungkook wondered, getting closer and soon snatching away the packet of cookies, wanting to enjoy some himself.
"Why does it matter?"
"Why can't you answer?" Jungkook took out a few cookies, handing it back over to his brother once he had his share of stale goodness.
Jeongguk frowned, looking at the package in his hand briefly before he set it aside. "I've, uh, I've been thinking." He spoke softly. "I don't think I'm going to go out with Taehyung."
"Why not?" Jungkook questioned, mouth full of cookie. He walked to the table and took a seat, not wanting to stand and hear Jeongguk's poor reasoning as to why.
"No." Jeongguk responded.
"No?" Jungkook cocked a brow, looking up at the slightly elder with a confused look.
"No. If I tell you why, you're going to find a way to make me change my mind. Namjoon rubbed off on you way too much with your logical bullshit." Jeongguk could already sense the future and what opening up brought.
That made the younger snicker, not sure if he should feel honored or not. "Well, we'll never know unless you decide to inform me on why you suddenly think not going is the best solution."
"You've already started with the manipulation, trying to make me feel bad." Jeongguk narrowed his eyes.
Jungkook shook his head. "I'm not trying to make you feel anything, Gguk, I'm seriously curious."
"Well, for your information," Jeongguk scoffed. "I think it's best me and him just not associate with one another. It seems just so much better than dragging our hearts along the curbside."
Jungkook stared, trying to figure out if his brother was being serious or not. "That's your reason? You're afraid of a little heartache?"
"Heartache is a bitch and you know that, so yes." Jeongguk crossed his arms over his chest, feeling an attitude arise.
"Um, well,"
"Here we go,"
"Shut up and let me convince you," Jungkook said, thinking a bit. "I had so much fun when me and him hung out. We reminisced, fed some birds, kissed — it was honestly so amazing. I felt relieved in the moment and I would love to do it again with him. Just have to have you two do it so we can progress." Jungkook shrugged.
"You guys kissed?" Jeongguk almost looked disgusted.
"You fucked him, I don't think I would go there, Gguk." Jungkook uttered with little emotion.
The NFL player itched the side of his neck, looking down. He wasn't proud of that and would love for that not to be brought up.
"Me and you are different though, Kook." Jeongguk told. "You forgave him already, you're willing to try this shit out. I'm not."
"For stupid ass reasonings. He said he was sorry, I don't know what more you want him to do. He can't unfuck Leehyun."
"Sure he can."
"You're so unreasonable." Jungkook huffed. "Listen, you either take your sorry ass with him and give it a shot, get the feel for it. Or, you explain to him how you rather just pretend the other doesn't exist because you can't take a pinch of salt."
Jeongguk stood there silently before releasing a groan. "I fucking hate when you're right."
"Of course you do, it means you're wrong if I'm right." Jungkook grinned before he pushed to stand. "Now, I think that little pep talk bored me enough. Think I could sleep for hours after all that." The aforementioned faked a yawn, stretching his arm over his head. "I'll see you in the morning if I wake up before you two leave, since I've helped change your mind."
Jeongguk rolled his eyes, letting his brother walk back to his room so he could go to bed.
He guessed it wouldn't kill him to give it a shot. Just one try is all everyone is asking for.
Just one try.
"Oh! Can we get some ice cream?" Taehyung pulled Jeongguk from his thoughts when he noticed a parked ice cream truck.
The younger looked in the direction, weakly smiling to himself. "I don't see why not." He said and began to walk over, Taehyung following close behind.
"Hi, how may I—" The lady who once spoke froze, meeting Jeongguk's eyes. "Wait," she gapped, lips slightly parted. "Do you play football?"
The younger adult sheepishly smiled, nodding his head. "Yes," he answered. He understood what she said versus Taehyung who stood there dumbfounded.
"No way! That's so cool! I'm not a Panther's fan but my son is, he's a big fan of yours." The lady informed. "He even has your jersey. He got it the moment you were drafted to say he was one of the first to get it."
"Awe, that's cute. He made right choice by picking me." Jeongguk chuckled, trying his best at English. He was taking lessons everyday to better the language. "I am honored. Do you, um, want me sign something for your son?"
The lady nodded eagerly, leaving the window to grab a piece of paper and a pen for Jeongguk.
"What's going on?" Taehyung wondered, Jeongguk nearly forgetting he was with the aforementioned.
"Oh, um, she said her son is a fan. I'm just going to sign something for her." Jeongguk admitted, shrugging like it was nothing.
Taehyung almost let it slip his mind that the boy in front of him was a professional football player. "That's sweet of you," Taehyung hummed, offering an innocent smile which surprisingly was returned.
The lady returned and handed it off to Jeongguk could write his signature, wearing a proud smile as he did so. He gave it back and proceeded to order some of the dairy treat.
"Can I get one mint and one strawberry cone please?" Jeongguk ordered, not even bothering to ask Taehyung what he wanted but he did it out of habit. He remembered ordering ice cream for them back then and Taehyung never changed his order. It was always strawberry.
The elder noticed that but refused to say anything. It sucked, however, because he wanted mango since he was kind of sick of strawberry but another strawberry ice cream wouldn't hurt.
"It's on the house; free! Don't worry about paying." The lady said, handing off the cones to the two boys in front of her.
"No, no, I pay." Jeongguk spoke, handing the ice cream off to Taehyung before he proceeded to reach for his wallet. The price of the ice cream of just short of eight dollars but Jeongguk was a generous tipper. He handed her a twenty, telling her to keep it before he walked away with Taehyung by his side.
"Does that happen often?" Taehyung wondered after giving the younger his mint ice cream, taking small licks of his strawberry one. "People asking for autographs or telling you they know you?"
"Hmm, no, not really." Jeongguk replied. "I mean, it happens but I wouldn't say often. I'm not anything special."
"Of course you are! You're now the starting quarterback for the Carolina Panthers!" Taehyung praised. "That's pretty special if I do say so myself."
The younger became bashful, shaking his head. "Chill, I don't need my ego blown up any more than what it is." He responded.
Taehyung laughed a bit, licking at his ice cream. He still enjoyed strawberry and it was nice to know Jeongguk was willing to try to order him his favorite and pay for it.
"Are you enjoying yourself?" Jeongguk was the one to ask, moving on to their next conversation. It was mind-boggling to think he cared enough to ask.
The author hoped this type of forward progress was highly appreciated. At least before the cloudy day turned into a thunderstorm.
"Yeah, I am! I thought it would be way more awkward than what it's been. It's definitely had its moments but it wasn't intolerable." He admitted honestly.
"That's better than it being dead silent." Jeongguk said, enjoying his own treat. "Is it better than Jungkook's and your's date?"
The elder wasn't expecting that to be brought up but he hummed. "That's hard to compare. You're both very different."
"Then it should help to determine who you had more fun with." Jeongguk shrugged. "If it's him, say that. I know we didn't kiss and I'm sure that was some pointers to your guys date."
"He told you?" Taehyung asked, side-glancing the slightly taller adult who chuckled.
"He's my identical twin brother, Tae, of course he told me. He tells me everything, one way or the other." Jeongguk answered. "Anything you two did or said, I already know about it."
Taehyung frowned, a bit confused. "Everything?"
"Yeah? Everything. He doesn't hide shit from me." The raven-haired adult mentioned, a brow cocked as to why Taehyung had the sudden mood change. Maybe he didn't know everything.
"And you're not mad?" Taehyung wondered. He was setting himself up for failure.
"I'm a bit lost now," Jeongguk stopped in his tracks, Taehyung taking a few steps and looking back. "Why would I be mad? Is there something for me to be mad at?" If Jeongguk didn't know, he was going to find out.
"Well, I guess not. I just figured you would be a bit upset that Yoongi hyung knew." Taehyung replied. "Jungkook certainly was more upset than this. I just— I swore you would've been way more pissed."
Jeongguk's smile slowly subsided. "I'm just wondering," he spoke a bit way too calmly. "What did Yoongi know about?" He cocked his head a bit to the side, waiting expectantly.
Great job, Taehyung.
"Huh? You said—"
"Taehyung," Jeongguk's brows slowly tugged forward but remained in a stale position. "What. The fuck. Did. Yoongi. Know?"
"That I left a-and why I left." Taehyung stutter, fear showing up in his eyes. He misunderstood what Jeongguk was on about; what he was taking about when he said they told each other everything. He thought Jungkook told him but he should've known better.
He should've known so much better.
Jeongguk crushed his cone in his hand, melted mint ice cream covering his fingers and palm. He slowly inhaled a deep breath, filling his lungs with air in hopes it would calm his rage.
"Gguk, I-I don't mean any harm— please, I swear." Taehyung tried to convince, feeling like it was a never ending loop; feeling trapped.
The younger shut his eyes, his nostrils flaring. "Taehyung."
"Yes?" The elder gulped, brows furrowed.
"We're going to walk back to my car and we're going to return home." Said the football player, trying to keep his voice as steady as possible. "I just want you to follow this simple rule and shut the fuck up. Don't speak, don't laugh, don't make a fucking noise on the way home." And with that being said, Jeongguk walked away. His broad back facing Taehyung and his hand dripping of the sweet green melted goodness.
The elder dropped his own ice cream, taking a few quick steps to catch up. He pulled out his phone, going straight to Jungkook's contact.
Taehyung:
I fucked up kook
Taehyung:
I fucked up so bad

A/N:
I know you're sick of this but we have to keep a storyline progressing. Some of you want them to just kiss and make up but please keep in mind that I have a realistic outlook on things. Same with 'Right From Left Field' — which I beg you check out and vote please!
