You and I, we were different from the beginning.

That's what Huening Kai thinks when he looks at Taehyun. Huening Kai and Taehyun have been dating for two years now, and it's harder for him to breathe around him as time passes by. Why, you ask?

It's because, no matter how much Taehyun breaks his heart, no matter how much he lies and cheats, Kai can't seem to leave him. He loves him, yes he does but he hates him at the same time too.

They first met in University when they were freshmen and they first saw each other in the welcome party. And Taehyun caught Kai's eyes and had his heart captured. He was insanely attracted to the big-eyed boy who always seemed to smile with Sparkly eyes. He was totally gone.

Things progressed an they started dating soon. Kai was the happiest person alive if you ask him. Taehyun was everything he ever wanted and needed. He was someone who could calm his clumsy self. He was someone who kept him away from his negative and destructive thoughts. He was like a drug which kept him sane yet insane. Soon enough, he was addicted to the feeling Taehyun gave him.

Now that he looks back, Taehyun is surely a drug. A drug which is harmful and kills you slowly from inside but you can't leave them, because you're addicted and if you try to leave, you will go crazy. That's how Kai felt.

After a year of them dating, Taehyun drastically changed. He started going to parties with seniors, ignored Kai and always came back late. Kai was angry but he tried to endure it. Because it was Taehyun, his drug who kept him sane. Taehyun's one warm touch and he came back running to him, no matter how angry or hurt he was.

He was addicted to this feeling, even though it wasn't real anymore. Taehyun's love for him was nothing more but an illusion at this point.

He even caught him cheating on him with a girl, but he didn't say anything. His heart broke so badly, he was shattered from inside.

"Why can't you let me go Taehyun? Why is loving you so hard and sad?"
Kai always thought to himself. If he didn't love him anymore, why wasn't he ready to leave him? Why would he still come back to him and give that same Sparkly eyed smile and tell him false sweet lies. Why? What did he get from breaking him like this?

Kai envies him. He doesn't even know what's going inside his head. All of it is a mess. He feels like drowning in an endless pit. He wants to get out of it, but it only pulls him deeper. The pressure is too much. There's no way out of this now. He's addicted to a dangerous drug named Kang Taehyun.

Like a puzzle finding its place.

Kai was walking to his classes as usual, when he saw there was a poster about a band music club. They needed a pianist.

Kai loved to play Piano since he was a kid. He had a great passion for music and his eyes lit up when he saw the poster.
"Maybe I should join, I could distract myself a little from my shit love life then." Kai thought with a chuckle.

He decided to join the club. He went straight to the room mentioned and knocked on the door, feeling a little anxious.
"Come in!" He heard a yell and he slowly walked inside to see three guys sitting there, one with a Guitar and the other two now looking at him.

"W-well I'm here to apply as the Pianist, I saw you guys needed one." Kai said, feeling a bit flustered. All of them were hella handsome and they seemed talented too. What if he messes up? Why did he think it was a good idea? Now he will get another anxiety good job Kai.

"Oh thank god you came!! We were in desperate need of one!" A guy with bunny-like features stood up and walked to him smiling brightly.

"Welcome to Blue Spring band, your name?" The guy asked him.

"Oh um I'm Huening Kai, or you can just call me Kai." Kai said feeling a bit relaxed after seeing Soobin's enthusiastic face.

"Hello Huening Kai, I'm Choi Soobin, the guy holding the Guitar is Choi Beomgyu and the one sitting there is Choi Yeonjun." Soobin said introducing him to everyone.

"Oh wow three Chois? Nice to meet you guys too." Kai said, smiling finally.

He saw the Beomgyu guy smiling at him, but Yeonjun was weird. Since the time he entered this room, Yeonjun was staring at him with an unreadable expression. He couldn't understand what Yeonjun wanted.

"Yeah, surprising right? We were too." Beomgyu said and everyone laughed. Kai thought he might enjoy the company of these guys.

"Yeonjun hyung, why are you so silent now? It's weird, don't scare me!" Beomgyu said, mocking Yeonjun.

"This guy- yah shut up! I don't have a motor-mouth like someone here." Yeonjun finally said, rolling his eyes and Beomgyu just laughed.

Yeah, Kai definitely liked it here.

"So Kai, Yeonjun is the bassist, I'm the Vocalist and Beomgyu is the guitarist. You can be our Pianist now!" Soobin explained their positions and Kai nodded, walking towards the Keyboard kept at the corner.

"Would you play something?" Beomgyu asked.

"Yeah sure." Kai smiled and set-up the Keyboard, playing the melody of "Can't you see me".

His hands danced upon the white keys as a beautiful melody was flowing in the room and passed through their ears. Kai's focus was on the keyboard and everyone's focus was on him, especially Yeonjun. He was amused by the way Kai was playing the keys so effortlessly and gracefully.

After Kai was finished playing the piece, he looked at them and started getting flustered. All of them were looking at him with wide eyes and it was a bit too much attention for his liking. He always ran away from attention so can you blame him?

"Kai, what the hell? That was hella good!!" Beomgyu said with an excited expression.

"Oh really? Thankyou Beomgyu hyung." Kai said shyly, happy that he got to show his talent.

"Okay, so you are obviously accepted. There is a Band competition in our school three weeks later and we need to write, produce and present the song in front of the whole school. Yeonjun is our lyrics writer but he needs help. Do you perhaps write lyrics?" Soobin asked Kai.

"Yeah, I do write songs when I feel anxious or when I can't let out my thoughts, so I guess I could help." Kai said happily.

"That's great! You're a lifesaver Kai!!" Soobin said, hugging Kai. Kai was awkward at first but then he got comfortable.

"Okay, so everyday after classes, come here for practice okay? Let's exchange numbers!" Beomgyu said.

"Sure!" Kai answered and all four of them exchanged numbers.

Yeonjun was quiet all this time.

After Kai walked out of the room, Beomgyu and Soobin cornered him.
"Hyung, why are you so quiet today?" Soobin asked, raising his eyebrows.
"I think I know, it's because of Huening Kai isn't it?" Beomgyu asked, teasing him.

"Shut up no? What do you mean because of Huening Kai?" Yeonjun yelled looking away.

"Ohhh did someone experience love at first sight?" Soobin also joined in to tease Yeonjun along with Beomgyu.

Meanwhile Kai was walking to his shared apartment with Taehyun, smiling today. He was really happy he was accepted. The guys seemed fun and he loved music. He was very happy about the fact that maybe they could make their own music together. Kai had always dreamed of it but he was never able to do it because of his parents. Finally he was getting a chance and he couldn't be happier.

He entered his apartment to find it empty as always. A sinking feeling hit his chest but he ignored it.
"Not today Kai, today you should be happy! You made new friends!"
He raised his fist and went off to freshen up, and came back sitting on the sofa to see Taehyun already there. He was happy to see him but his face fell when he saw a hickey showing from his collarbones. He was wearing a shirt and Kai saw it. It was nothing new at this point but still, it breaks Kai everytime he sees it.

"Oh hey baby, welcome back!" Taehyun said, placing a kiss on Huening Kai's lips and he was gone. He forgot everything and forgave the man in front of him once again. He knows it's wrong, he knows he's hurting himself and destroying himself by doing this, but he can't stop himself.

How would he breathe without Taehyun by his side? Taehyun is the first boy he's ever dated and he can't let everything they have gone in vain. But do they even have anything at this point?
Of Course it doesn't, but Kai will ignore it again, like always. He can't win against his heart, it's hard to let him go, he just needs one reason and he runs back to Taehyun like a puppy. He can't get out of this cycle.

[Next day]

Kai was excited to meet the boys. It would be his first time to work and create actual music and not some drabbles on his notebook.

He walked inside the room to see Yeonjun and Beomgyu sitting there.
"Hello Beomgyu and Yeonjun hyung. Am I late?" Kai asked with a smile.

"No you're on time Kai, but someone sure is late." He said scoffing and Kai laughed a little.

"I bet Soobin hyung is busy doing something." Kai said and sat beside Yeonjun who jumped in surprise when Kai sat beside him.

Kai noticed Yeonjun was scribbling something on his notebook.
"Hyung, are you writing the song?" Kai asked looking over Yeonjun's shoulder to see the notebook in his hands.

"W-well Yeah, you wanna help?" Yeonjun asked without looking at Kai.

"Sure!" Kai said and they started talking about the lyrics. Yeonjun got comfortable with Kai very quickly and realised Kai was a very cute yet funny guy. Kai was also enjoying Yeonjun's company. He seemed cool to him.

"Woah Kai, you sure know how to put your emotions into words huh?" Yeonjun said, nudging Kai's shoulders.

"It's not that special Hyung! You write better!" Kai said smiling.

And just like that 1 hour passed and the song was almost half written already.

"Woah Kai sure did a lot of help. Yeonjun hyung was literally being a sloth!" Beomgyu said, patting Kai's back.

"Beomgyu you bitc- just you wait! I will kill you today!" And there went Yeonjun and Beomgyu with their usual bickering and Kai was just laughing along with Soobin.

It felt like a breath of fresh air to Kai. After all those suffocating situations, this was a relief. He felt like he was free and happy here, like he finally found his place in this puzzle. This was for sure great.

Along with this passing wind, my heart feels free like never before.

It's already been a week since Kai joined the club and he's been happier than ever. Yeonjun, Beomgyu and Soobin and him spend almost every day together and it's his escape from his shit ass love life with Taehyun. He has gotten very close with them, especially Yeonjun. Since that lyrics writing thing, Yeonjun always calls him to eat together at lunch, texts him funny dad jokes and cringe pick-up lines and Kai loves every second of it. He has developed a special Liking for the older too. Kai never thought he was the clingy type, but with Yeonjun it comes naturally. Yeonjun is always hugging him, or squishing his cheeks Calling him Baby and Cutie but Kai's not complaining.

He's finally receiving the love he craved from Yeonjun. His feelings are getting complicated and he doesn't know if he even loves Taehyun anymore. But he still haven't decided anything about it. Just like usual, he spends his time with them, comes home to get ignored or get attention from Taehyun if he's in the mood and the same cycle repeats.

Today is the same. Kai was returning home from University and a very pleasant sight welcomed him. His dear Boyfriend Taehyun was there making out with some girl he had no idea about.

"T-taehyun, y-you.." words got stuck inside his throat and he felt like the walls were Disappearing and he was standing in a dark void.

Taehyun looked at him with a bored expression and said- "Now that you know, why are you even here? I'm seriously sick of you Kai."

"Sick of me? I'M SICK OF YOU TAEHYUN! I TRIED TO FORGET EVERYTHING YOU DO AND EVERY TIME YOU HURT ME AND I GET THIS? FINE! I'M LEAVING! NEVER SHOW ME YOUR FUCKING FACE EVER AGAIN! I HATE YOU AND I'M BREAKING UP WITH YOU!" Kai yelled in anger and slammed the door shut, leaving the apartment and walking out with Tears streaming down his face. He can't believe he finally lost Taehyun.

He thought he didn't love Taehyun that much anymore, but fuck he did. He wanted to go back and apologise hoping it will be fine like before. But fuck it, he isn't that shameless. He has self-esteem. But it hurts. It hurts so bad he feels like he's suffocating to death. How will he live without him now? What will he do? Taehyun was his anchor, his ship will float away without it.

What is he supposed to do now?

Kai was hyperventilating and he fell on the side of the path, trying to calm down and stop his tears but he couldn't do anything. There was no one to control and guide his thoughts. He was losing it.

Then like someone heard his thoughts, he got a call. It was from none other than Yeonjun. Yeonjun always called him in the evening to talk to him and he is calling now too.

Kai picked up the call with shaking hands and answered it with a shaky voice.
"H-hello Y-yeonjun hyung?" He managed to blurt out those words and burst into sobs and cries.

"Kai? Hello? Why are you crying? Are you fine? Fuck you probably aren't where are you baby?" Yeonjun asked in panic after hearing Kai's shaky and crying voice.

"I-infront of t-the P-park." Kai mumbled in between sobs and Yeonjun answered and Okay and cut the call.

After five minutes, he saw Yeonjun running towards him panting.

"Kai? Oh my god!" Yeonjun came running towards him and engulfed him in a tight hug. He didn't ask him anything and just stroked Kai's back telling him to breathe and "it's okay I'm here" constantly.

Kai clutched Yeonjun's t-shirt tightly and sobbed like a baby in his chest, both of them sitting on the ground now. He felt like he was safe in Yeonjun's arms and not floating away in the bottomless water. Yeonjun kept him standing in place, and there wasn't darkness surrounding him anymore.

Lonely boy staying lonely, he ain't my one and only.

Will love hurt me once more?

After a few minutes, Kai calmed down and his cries died down to hiccups and little sobs.
Yeonjun broke the hug and made him stand up.

"Kai? Feeling okay now baby?" Yeonjun asked him, looking at his face which was painted with dried tears.

Kai nodded his head and looked down in embarrassment.

"Thankgod. I will not ask what happened but if you want, you can stay over at my house today." Yeonjun said, holding Kai's hands.

Kai nodded a yes and they walked together to Yeonjun's house quietly. There was a comfortable silence between them and Yeonjun kept looking at Kai to make sure he wasn't crying anymore.

After they reached Yeonjun's home, Kai and him sat down on his bed and Kai finally started talking about what happened.

"I told you about Taehyun right? I broke up with him today." Kai said looking down, his voice hoarse from crying.

"I'm not supposed to be happy hearing this, but why am I happy? Yeonjun what the hell?" Yeonjun thought to himself and paid his attention to Kai.

Kai slowly told him everything about him and Taehyun to Yeonjun from the beginning and Yeonjun was shocked to know how much Kai was suffering. His heart ached for the Younger and he wanted to do nothing but kill the Taehyun guy and keep Kai safe from the world. He was too precious to be broken like this.

"I'm sorry Kai, you deserve so much! Taehyun really is a blind dude, it's his loss. Fuck him seriously." Yeonjun said, almost tearing up along with Kai.

Kai chuckled at Yeonjun's words and leaned his head on Yeonjun's shoulders, closing his eyes. He was tired from all this commotion.
Yeonjun smiled and stroked Kai's hair, letting him lean his head on his shoulders. His heart was thumping real hard but it didn't matter right now. All that mattered was Kai and his peace.

The night passed with some more of Kai crying and Yeonjun comforting him and they fell asleep on the bed tired.
Next day Kai woke up to see Yeonjun beside him and his face flushed pink. They both didn't go to University as Kai was too sad and sick to go and Yeonjun wouldn't leave him alone like that.

Yes, Kai got a fever in the morning. Now Yeonjun hates Taehyun even more. Yeonjun took care of Kai the whole day and Soogyu even visited them in the evening and shit-talked about Taehyun together.

Kai wasn't that sad anymore. He was a bit happy about the breakup now you could say. Afterall he expected this coming he was just not ready.

Beomgyu and Yeonjun were in the kitchen when Beomgyu suddenly said-
"Congratulations Yeonjun."

"Congratulations? For what?" Yeonjun asked Beomgyu, confused.

"Now your hopeless pining over Kai might come to an end." Beomgyu said with a chuckle.

Yeonjun's eyes widened and he hit Beomgyu's head.
"Shut up Moron! Why would he like me? Plus he just broke up?" Yeonjun said like Beomgyu just said the most ridiculous thing in the world.

"Just wait and watch Hyung." Beomgyu said and Yeonjun didn't understand what he meant.

Soon days passed and everything came to Normal. Kai moved out from there and he is living with Soobin now, until he finds a new place to live. They were also working on the song and it was complete now.

Today was the day they will check the song and sing it for trial.

"Guys gather up, today we will finalise this." Soobin said and everyone got into their positions and started performing.

Kai was feeling thrilled to finally play the song they created together. His heart was thumping loud and he was very excited. The song was called "Together".

Yeonjun and Kai had composed the song while Beomgyu produced it. Beomgyu and Kai started playing the Guitar and Keyboard, and Soobin started singing, then Yeonjun joined in with the drums.

They all had a small plastered on their face and playing the song was very fun. Kai and Yeonjun looked at each other and smiled, same with Soobin and Beomgyu. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and rush, as the song neared the end.

"That..that was amazing holy shit!" Beomgyu said in happiness.

"I agree! It was lit! We will definitely win the competition with this song." Yeonjun said, as his eyes lit up.

"I'm glad I'm doing this with you guys." Huening Kai said smiling.

"Me too." Soobin agreed.

All of them went to eat out after this and had a lot of fun. Yeonjun was happy to see Kai wasn't sad over Taehyun anymore and he was enjoying.

His feelings seemed to grow for the boy day by day and he couldn't even stop it. Even looking at the younger gave him butterflies, he was screwed for life now. Never in his entire life he fell this hard for someone. His crushes lasted for merely three-four days but with Kai it has been more than 2 weeks already.

He couldn't help falling for him and there was no going back now. The only solution for this was confessing but like everyone, he was scared.

Same with Hueningkai. He was having weird feelings for Yeonjun and it was messing him up. How can he fall for Yeonjun so fast? Whenever Yeonjun hugged him or even smiled at him, he thought it's ridiculous to feel butterflies dancing in his stomach. His whole system felt like it was shutting down whenever Yeonjun called him "Baby" now. It was really ridiculous. He was sure that he liked Yeonjun, but what if Love hurts him once more?

"What the hell is wrong with me?" Both of them thought as they made eye-contact while walking home. Yeonjun blushed while Kai looked away and Soobin laughed as he looked at the two. They were so fucking oblivious, and idiots in love.

Kai was back at home with Soobin now.
"You like Yeonjun hyung don't you?" Soobin asked and it made Kai jump in surprise.

"W-what? Who said that? N-no I'm not!" Kai said blushing.

"Yeah and I'm the president. Seriously Kai accept it, you're so obvious I bet everyone knows." Soobin said laughing.

"Wait what? Even Beomgyu hyung? What if Yeonjun hyung knows too? Oh no I'm doomed now." Kai said, grabbing his hair in frustration.

"Yeah Beomgyu knows, but Yeonjun doesn't. He's so dense, seriously!" Soobin said, sighing. These two were impossible.

"So hyung, what should I do?" Kai suddenly asked, making Soobin surprised.

"Do about what?" Soobin asked confused.

"About this shit! My feelings for Yeonjun hyung! What should I do? I bet he will hate me if I say he likes me, I mean why would he even like me?" Kai said, biting his lips in anxiety.

Soobin tried not to laugh at Kai's words.

"W-why are you laughing?" Kai asked Soobin.

"You both are dummies, do you see the way he looks at you? Lol he fell in love with you at first sight and you say why will he like you?" Soobin said like Kai said the most ridiculous joke ever.

"What? No way! You're lying!" Kai said in disbelief.

"I'm not." Soobin said seriously.

"Oh god, then what do I do now?" Kai asked, confused. He was about to rip off his hair at this point.

"Confess what else?" Soobin said, shrugging his shoulders.

"It's not that simple!! I'm scared!" Kai said and Soobin sighed. He can't with this man anymore.

Finally the most awaited day arrived. The day of the band competition. All of them were nervous yet thrilled at the same time. They were backstage right now, waiting for their turn.

Huening Kai was already nervous but seeing Yeonjun gave him a double-heart attack. Yeonjun was wearing a sleeveless shirt with random pictures he could care less about and some Baggy ripped jeans and some matching jewellery. He really looked like a rockstar. He didn't realise he was gawking at Yeonjun until Beomgyu nudged his arms.

"Damn you look like you will eat him after the stage today." Beomgyu said laughing.

"Wha-" Kai blushed in embarrassment upon getting caught.

"Date already you two! I'm so tired of hearing Yeonjun's shits." Beomgyu said and laughed more leaving Kai confused and embarrassed.

Yeonjun wasn't doing any better. He had been eyeing Kai since the moment he saw him. His heart was going crazy and let's not talk about his questionable thoughts. No he didn't think anything, he's innocent. Yeah he definitely doesn't want to get ruined by Kai, yes of course not him.

In the midst of this feeling of Chaos, their time finally came. They were up on the stage now, seeing the large crowd waiting for them to start. Kai started to get nervous upon seeing the crowd.

"It's gonna be okay, do your best!" Yeonjun said, squeezing Kai's shoulders.

"Yeah." Kai replied thanking Yeonjun.

And they started playing. It felt like magic when the melody started flowing in the air. Adrenaline rushed through their veins and all of them were super-excited playing with all their might having fun. Beomgyu looked at Yeonjun and smiled, Beomgyu rocked the electric Guitar and banged his head, his long hair flowing and the crowd cheered. Yeonjun's eyes were Sparkling and his hands worked fast on the drums, his heart beating loudly with all the adrenaline rush. Soobin was singing his heart out and the crowd seemed to love it. Kai, well he was never this happy. His face was shining and his fingers danced over the Keys, as his head swung back and forth, his fluffy hair floating in the air.

The moment Yeonjun and Kai locked eyes, their heartbeats synced and both of them smiled at each other and played their instruments with full rush. It was like a dream they never wanted to wake up from.

And just as they expected they won the competition.

All of them did a group hug jumping in happiness. The after-party rush was getting to them and Kai felt drunk on this feeling. He felt like he belonged right here, with this group of people who shared the same passion for music as him.

Then he looked at Yeonjun. The moon he started to admire not so long ago. Yeonjun smiled at him and he felt his heart thumping again.

"Should I say it? Should I do it?" Kai kept thinking to himself the whole time they were busy celebrating the win.

He was sure about his feelings and he was ready to face it. It's now or never.

"Uhm, Yeonjun hyung can you come with me?" Kai asked Yeonjun nervously as Soobin and Beomgyu smirked. They knew where this was heading to.

"Oh sure." Yeonjun said smiling and followed Kai to the back side.

It was silent and Kai was going berserk. What will he say? What should he say?

"Kai, what did you want to talk about?" Yeonjun asked, looking at him.

"Fuck, not those eyes again!" Kai groaned to himself and he thought actions speak better than words and decided Kissing Yeonjun would be the best way to confess.

So he did.

He held Yeonjun's face in his hands and placed his lips on his. Yeonjun was shocked at first but soon pulled Kai close when he realised Kai was about to pull away.

Kai stumbled in shock and stood straight again, kissing Yeonjun like his life depended on it. His hands held Yeonjun's waist while Yeonjun's hands were in his hair making a mess of it, but Kai could care less about it right now.

After a few minutes of making out, they separated and looked at each other with flushed faces and swollen lips.

Both of them didn't say anything but then decided to yell
"I like you" at the same time.

They looked at each other and burst into giggles and laughter.

"You finally realised huh?" Yeonjun said, looking at Kai with a mischievous grin.

"Yeah, finally I did. Also I heard you fell for me at first sight? Am I that attractive?" Kai said, holding Yeonjun's waist and pulling him closer.

"What if I say I did? Yeonjun said, still smiling like a dork.

"Then I'll kiss you more!" Kai said, placing a small kiss on Yeonjun's lips once again which made Yeonjun blush.

Kai laughed and both of them understood the unsaid. They didn't need to speak, their eyes and heart gave away everything they wanted to know.

If loving Taehyun was being anchored and getting addicted then loving Yeonjun was like being high on Grape juice and being wrapped in a comforting blanket.

"Finally!! Now I won't have to hear Yeonjun being a simp for you anymore!!" Beomgyu yelled as Kai and Yeonjun were busy being in love.

"Oh my God Beomgyu shut up!!" Yeonjun said and started chasing Beomgyu who was laughing like a clown.

Kai also laughed seeing them, his heart filling with warmth. This is where he belonged. This is who he loved and deserved. He was finally home, not feeling suffocated but breathing a fresh breeze of air.

Only this feeling is blooming, my heart is in the air.
