. .

The alarm clock wakes Allie up from her sleep at 1:15 pm that night. She rolls over and quickly shuts the incessant thing off before shoving the thin sheet off her warm body. She has no time to properly wake up or enjoy the warmth of her bed for a second longer as she has to be out of the camps gates at exactly 1:31. She scrambles out of bed and hurriedly changes into her HYDRA uniform and straps her gun to her waist, just in case things turn south. Right before she leaves the room, she turns around and silently says her goodbyes. Yes, she knows that the room won't wave and say goodbye back to her. But to Allie, it is much more than that. She's saying goodbye to this part of her life as she vows that she will never be back here again.

She memorizes every crevice and chip in the paint because as horrible as her time here has been, it is still a huge part of her story. She must come to accept the fact that all the bad things that she has done in the name of HYDRA have made her who she is today.

This is her time for redemption. The time when the remorse that she has felt for so long, has become too much and she is going to do anything she can to make amends for her faults. Allie has to own up to her sins so that in the future, she won't continue making them. She lets a pained smile overtake her face and then quietly slips out of her room.

She cautiously jogs down the hallways, taking the longer route to avoid the guards who are unluckily put on night watch tonight and heads towards the Overwatch room. Once she reaches the room she will have to quietly take down whoever is inside and shut off the cameras if she wants to even have a chance of getting out of here successfully. She soon rounds the corner which leads her directly to the overwatch room and knocks rapidly on the door. Wow real subtle Allie, she thinks to herself as she rolls her eyes. The door is soon opened and a man comes into view.

"Yes, Ms. Will-" But before he can finish, Allie throws a powerful punch to his head and watches as he falls to the ground in a heap. She hastily closes the door behind her and then lunges after the man who is scrambling to get back up onto his feet. She wraps her arms around his neck and tightens her grip, trying to avoid the sloppy punches that he is throwing as he attempts to get her off of him. Out the corner of her eye, she sees the man's large fist fly at her face but she spots it too late so instead, she turns her head to the side and winces when it makes contact with her cheek. "Son of a bitch!" She mutters angrily and tightens her grip on the man's throat, watching as his face turns bright red due to the lack of oxygen entering his lungs. She continues to choke the man until he falls unconscious and then she carefully leans his body against the wall, also placing the hat that had fallen off his head during the fight back on top of his wild, dark hair.

"Sorry sir, you probably did nothing wrong but you just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time," Allie remarks as she swings herself onto the chair that he previously occupied and frantically types in commands into the computer that controls the cameras around the base. She presses down quickly on the large keys of the computer as she types in various different orders, trying to shut down the camera systems. Once she hears the little 'ping' of confirmation she begins to swing around on the chair as she waits for the cameras to shut off. As she rotates, she spots a bright red apple sitting by the far end of the desk and stamps her feet on the ground to stop the chair so she can pick it up, peering at it curiously. When she hears the second 'ping' of the computer, indicating that the cameras had all be shut off, she shoves the fruit into her pocket and sprints out of the room taking the same route back past her living quarters.

Adrenaline pumps through her veins as she runs through the camp of the organization that had enslaved her far too long. The hallways blur together as she sprints down them towards her freedom,  spotting nobody who would attempt to stop her escape which lifts her spirits with each step she takes. When she passes her room she slows down to a walk and lifts her wrist to see the time on her cheap, leather watch. 1: 25 it reads, meaning that she has a few minutes to spare. She drops her wrist back down to her side and she pulls out the fruit from her pocket. I know somebody who could use this, she smiles and shoves the apple back into her pant pockets before turning around to take a hopefully quick detour.

For perhaps the millionth time today, Allie makes her way down the old prison cells. But this time she zones out on the calls from the inmates and focuses on the one familiar cage that she visited earlier. As she makes her way closer, she spots the mother and child lying fast asleep on the chipped white bars of the cell. Now as she stands right out the front of the chamber, she actually notices who else lays inside and suffers the same pain and torture. There look to be around 8 or 9 more people crammed into the tiny cell, all of them creating a jigsaw puzzle on the floor as they try to get some sleep. Trying to find some form of peace which they now can only obtain in their dreams. Allie bends down and gently shakes the woman's sickly body but carefully avoids waking the peaceful baby up that is lying in her arms. The woman's lifeless eyes flicker open, her head turns from side to side as she is at first confused about her surroundings. Just like a light had been turned on in her head she shirks away from Allie's gentle hand and stares at her in fright. Afraid of the agony that she normally experiences by people who wear the same clothes as the soldier standing in front of her.

"It's alright! I'm not here to hurt you or your child." She whispers and holds her hands by her head almost like she is surrendering. The woman returns a look of disbelief and caution as she watches the HYDRA guard that is kneeling in front of her.

"Then why are you here?" She murmurs in confusion. She cradles her baby close to her chest and her body visibly tenses as Allie moves her arm to grab the apple from her pocket slowly so that she doesn't scare the woman who still remains apprehensive.

"To give you and your baby girl this." She replies and hands the small fruit to the pair. The woman's eyes light up at the sight of the fruit as she hasn't had one since she was imprisoned by HYDRA. She takes the bright red apple from Allie's hand and then takes a big bite from the fruit. Her moans fill the air as she delights in the taste of decent food which she has been denied for so long. She licks her lips then furrows her eyebrows at Allie when she stands back up on her feet.

"How did you know that she's a girl?" She questions in between bites. Allie lets out a small laugh and then shakes her head.

"It was just a lucky guess." She says then turns and begins to leave the woman and her child behind.

"Wait!" The woman calls out quietly. She places the sleeping baby on the ground and then crawls her way to the front of the cell as Allie turns around and takes a few steps back.

"I don't know if I can ever repay you for this. Thank you... thank you so much." She speaks softly, the gratitude evident in her eyes that slightly water at the words.

"You both deserve so much more than this," Allie answers with melancholy, "you deserve so much better. This is the least that I can do. But please, don't forget to save some of that for the baby." She says lightheartedly. The mothers nods at Allie before she turns to leave the chambers, proud that her last act at HYDRA was something good.

. .

By the time that Allie makes it to the outside of the base, it is already 1:30. Right on time, she thinks as she crouches in the snow, hiding from the bright light of the watchtower that stands about 50 meters to her right. She watches the guards that stand as still as statues along the border of the gates and waits for the clock to strike 1:31, the time when the guards that are outside file back into the warmth of the base. This change over will give her exactly 3 minutes to get some sort of motorbike and drive away from this nightmare that she had been living for much too long.

30 seconds, she counts as she feels snow fly into her face. The weather is going to make it difficult to drive away from here but it will also offer the perfect concealment, making it harder for her to be tracked. If this weather picks up though, she will have to navigate through a blizzard.

A blizzard may be great for not being able to be tracked but it will make it dangerous as she tries to direct herself to the nearest town. In typical Austrian alp blizzards, there is no way to know which direction to go in. The usual landmarks that direct the HYDRA trucks to the base would be hidden behind the white snow that swirls so densely and dangerously tonight. Even now she could feel her blood cool and her skin become icy. Disorientation would be a given, and the cold is a silent killer.

All of a sudden, a man's voice breaks Allie out of her thoughts and makes her whirl around, ready to attack. "Hey! What are you doing out here?" The man barks ferociously as he walks towards Allie, holding his hand up to his face to shield his eyes from the snow. "Shit," she mutters underneath her breath and quickly jumps up as the man makes his way over to her. He looks relatively tall from where Allie is standing but doesn't seem to be too heavy which is going to make it much easier to take him down. She runs over to him and kicks him forcefully in the chest, making him stumble a few meters back. Before he has any time to regain his balance, Allie jumps at him again, wrapping her legs around his body. As planned, they tumble to the ground with Allie straddling the man's waist and she quickly slams a side punch against his temple and the immense pressure immediately renders him unconscious. She feels bad for the man but she has no time to make sure that he is okay. Instead, she pushes herself back up and sprints to the corner of the building. She peaks around the edge and is just able to catch the sight of the last guard entering the building. That was lucky, she sighs inwardly and waits for the light of the tower to move away from her current location.

The light only takes a few seconds to redirect to its next position but once it does, Allie makes her move. She darts through the snow and makes her way over to the enormous garage that houses all of HYDRA's vehicles. She rounds the corner of the tin garage and pushes the side door open and flicks on the light switch, revealing a large assortment of cars ranging from basic trucks, tanks, squad cars, armored cars, and her personal favorite, motorbikes. She turns and grabs the keys from the counter to the black Nimbus motorbike and then runs to the bike and shoves the keys in the ignition. She hears the roar of the motor and waits impatiently for it to fade to a gentle hum, giving it a quick look over to make sure that it works properly. She lifts her leg of the side of the bike and begins to carefully walk it out of the shed. If this isn't the most uncomfortable thing ever, she contemplates as she awkwardly moves the bike around other cars and tanks, quickly nearing the exit.

Once she makes it to the door, she narrowly pushes the bike out onto the snow and watches for the light that illuminates the frozen snow to move away from the exit. She lifts up her wrist and looks at the time again, 1:33 it reads. Shit, I've got to get out of here now, she grumbles angrily. The second that the light passes over her, she puts her foot down on the accelerator and drives towards the exit. By now the people in the watchtower would have noticed her bold escape but it would take time for them to assemble a team to send out after her. If she managed to get on some sort of road or highway that isn't covered in thick snow she would be untraceable. She would be liberated. But first, she just needs to get out of these bloody gates.

20 meters is all that stands between her and her freedom. The snow stings her once warm face and the cold pierces her smooth skin. The wind whips against her face and the lights blind her eyes making it difficult to see where she is going. So long as she stays on the right path, it is only a matter of time before she would be resting in an uncomfortable and foreign bed of a ramshackle hotel in the middle of nowhere.

15 meters. The white flakes whirl around in an angry vortex, swallowing up everything in its path. The removal of nature makes the world bleak and devoid of any life. Everything is cold, so cold. The wind roars seemingly without an end, only reducing its strength long enough to gather the power for another attack on those who did not seek any cover from its wrath. The combination of the raging wind and the howl of the engine overpower every other sound, making her ears tingle from the sheer brutality of the noise. Becoming so loud, that she doesn't hear the familiar bang of a shot go off behind her

10 meters. She feels the back wheel stop moving. Time seems to slow and then there's a sudden screeching of tires, a massive smash of metal on the harsh earth. Her body is flung forwards into the once soft snow that now feels as hard as stone. White hot pain overtakes her body, overtaking her senses. Agony throbs in all of her limbs, even making her insides hurt. It's almost like somebody in squeezing her entire body as hard as they possibly can and not letting go. She can barely hold still and breathe deeply enough to satisfy her pained lungs. Her eyes flicker open, spotting the once pure snow that is now stained with her thick amber blood. Her skin doesn't feel like skin anymore. Instead, it has become raw and weeping flesh in various shades of pink and red that stings at even the lightest of touch. Her head thumps in pain and she is disorientated or may be suffering from a concussion but everything aches too much for her to decipher what is actually happened. She is fleetingly aware of the metallic taste of blood in her mouth and she feels the soft caress of the small snowflakes landing on her mangled body.

Get up, get up, her mind screams. You need to get up and run, it shouts louder. But the pain, oh there is so much pain. Allie pushes herself onto her knees, feeling imaginary knives stab her in every muscle and all she wants to do is crumble into a ball and feel the relief of the cold snow. But she can't. She has to get away. Slowly, she puts one hand in front of another. Crawling her way to the gates that stand so close but yet so far. She hears a cackle of laughter somewhere behind her but she just needs to keep moving.

5 meters. Her head spins as she focuses on nothing except the continuous movement of her hands that pull her limp body through the snow. A crimson trail of blood she leaves behind in her wake. Each bone in her body aches and cracks further as she pulls herself forward. She sucks in little air and her lungs feel like caving in on themselves. White spots flicker at the corner of her eyes, threatening to overtake her whole vision. Her hearing is static, drifting between focused and pure buzzing. The constant agony was the only thing keeping her alive. The pain meant that she hadn't died yet which means that she could still cling to the hope of making it out of here alive.

"You better stop that Ms. Williams or you will injure yourself even more than you already have." A familiar voice speaks. Allie stops and labouriously pushes herself to her feet. Her body aches in protest but she is stronger than that. She turns around slowly and comes face to face with the one person that causes Allie to actually fear for her life.

"Because we really wouldn't want that now, would we?" Herr Schmidt says with a sinister smile as his eyes light up with acrimony. She whips her head around only to find that she is surrounded by 20 men, all pointing guns at her chest. However, the guns aren't the thing that is worrying her. She knows that they won't try to kill her because she is too valuable. She has been needed on so many missions because of her large skill set and nobody at her age has ever been this good at what she does before. And honestly, even if they did kill her she would finally be away from this place. What scares her the most is the look of pure evil in Schmidt's eyes. It is almost as if she can see what he has planned out for her and none of it will be good.

"Be a good girl and surrender yourself, Alexandra." He speaks mockingly. His ebony suit stands out amongst the beautiful white snow that falls heavily from the sky. God, I just want to punch that ugly smirk off his face, Allie thinks before whipping out her gun and pointing it at Schmidt's forehead angrily.

"Sorry Herr Schmidt, but that outcome is highly unlikely." She taunts with a confident smile. Her arms scream in protest at the sudden movement and her body is overcome with pain. But she doesn't show it. The second rule at HYDRA is to never show your weaknesses, act as if it isn't there. Automatically the HYDRA guards surrounding her lift their guns and point them at her head in retaliation, but she also knows that they will kill her before she even gets a shot off. They would have spared her life before but now she is threatening the leader that they all love. The leader which they would give their lives for. And years ago she was the same. She would have given her life for HYDRA because she didn't know any better. But know she does and she wants out.

"Ah Alexandra, are you sure that pointing a gun to my head is the right thing to do? I'm sure your parents would disagree." He retorts with a cocky smile. Anger immediately overtakes her body and she visibly tenses at his words. She is absolutely livid.

"Shut up! Shut the hell up!" She screams as she cocks the gun, ready to pull the trigger if needs be. Bitter rage almost blinds her, breaking the calm facade that she wanted to maintain. She could no longer hold back the fury that ignited her bones, taking away the pain she once felt. Schmidt smiles even larger, sensing the girl's change in emotion and watches her slightly sway in the strong wind.

"My dear child," He declares loudly and suddenly Allie feels a prick in her neck making her feel drowsy and tired. "I thought that you would know better than this. You are HYDRA's now and forever." He says softly. Perhaps he was shouting but Allie wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Her eyes were forcing themselves closed and she staggered around in the snow, trying to find something that would help her regain her balance. The last thing she saw before her head hit the ground and her eyes closed was Schmidt's languid eyes and a cynical smile hang from his lips.
