After sitting in the cell for a couple of hours, she is finally graced with the Colonel's presence again. His air of authority fills the room and his entire stature screamed discipline. She couldn't point out a fault or flaw in his entire outfit, from his polished shoes to his clean-shaven face, he was the epitome a military officer.
"Well Ms. Williams, here is our best offer. If you give us information that is as valuable as you say, we will put you in an army unit that will assist in the takedown of HYDRA and you will be pardoned for your crimes against humanity. However, if the information doesn't live up to its expectations or if this is a trap, you will be sent back to the U.S to stand trial for your crimes." Colonel announces as he takes his seat in front of Allie, who is still in the same spot on the ground as when he left.
"Alright." She says as she tucks a piece of her disgustingly dirty hair behind her ear. "But I want that offer in writing." She asserts.
"That can be done. Now, you will be escorted out of the camp by a team of soldiers to retrieve your information and the second that they feel that they are in any sort of danger they are allowed to shoot. Do not mess this up for yourself Ms. Williams, because the one thing that the U.S government is not, is forgiving." The Colonel informs as he stands up from his chair and gestures for the soldiers outside to come in.
Five male soldiers make their way into the tent, all having large rifles strapped to their backs and small pistols hanging at their waists. They walk with purpose as they make their way over to the cell. Three of the soldiers take the gun from their waists and point it directly at Allie who sits there bemused.
"Put your hands behind your head and face the back of the cell." The soldier at the door growls as he puts his keys in the door and begins to unlock it. Allie does as she is told, she holds her hands together behind her head and she twists her body to face the back of the cell. Then she hears the 'click' of the door and her body is shoved aggressively against the cold metal bars.
"Hurensohn! / Son of a bitch! " She grunts as they roughly chain her arms and legs back up, cutting open her pale, delicate skin on her limbs.
A soldier brings the butt of his gun down on her head and white-hot pain flashes through her body. "Shut the fuck up bitch!" He snarls as he jerks her body up, still pressing her against the back of the cell.
"Allie- Hey! Don't be so rough with her!" She hears a familiar voice yell. She cranes her neck to the side and sees Bucky and Steve making their way into her cell. She immediately sucks in a breath in disbelief, surprised that the two men were here.
"I don't take orders from you, Barnes." The soldier smirks, pushing Allie harder into the bars which cause her to wince. Anger blazes in both Steve and Bucky's eyes but before Bucky had a chance to attack the man, Steve places an arm in front of him.
"No, but you take orders from me. Unhand her now." Steve orders.
A tense silence fills the air for a moment. Steve and Bucky glare at the soldier who eagerly returns the action. They both wait to see who will be the one to forfeit. All while Allie still stands there with her face smushed against the bars uncomfortably.
Finally, the man who is holding her shoves roughly Allie as he lets go of her chains. Filing out of the cell in anger and deliberately bumping shoulders with Bucky as he passes.
"Do you need our help, Captain?" One of the soldiers who stands outside of the cell asks, lowering his gun to the floor.
"No, at ease soldier." Steve answers and waits until the other four men file out of the tent as well.
The only people that remain in the room are Bucky, Steve, Allie, and the Colonel who remains silent in the corner. Bucky immediately rushes up to Allie and engulfs her in a huge hug. The instant that his arms wrap around her small frame, she feels all the tension from her body dissipate into thin air. Allie feels as if she can finally breathe properly and that is all because of the man holding her in his arms.
"Did you miss me, doll?" He questions with a laugh as he slowly pulls away from her with a delighted smile.
"The better question is though Buck, did you miss me?" She smirks.
"How could I not!" Bucky grins but then his face morphs into one of seriousness and sincerity. "But I owe you a huge thank you doll. Steve told me how you saved all the troops and I know how difficult it would have been to do it and not get caught."
"But mostly, thank you for looking after me when I was half unconscious in that hell of a room with all the doctors." He continues with a sad smile on his face. "I know that without you there, I definitely would have been dead months ago."
Bucky almost begins shaking as the memories replay in his mind. But he forcefully pushes them away, too focused on the feeling of Allie's arm wrapping him up in a hug again.
"You don't need to thank me for doing the right thing." She whispers into his ear as she rests her head on his broad shoulder.
"Do I need to leave?" Steve jokes, causing Allie and Bucky to break apart. Allie smiles at Steve who smiles back at her warmly.
"Steve Rogers, nice to see you again." She smirks, trying to distract herself from the embarrassment that is coursing through her body.
"Nice to see you too, I thought that you died in there for a bit." He grins.
Both of the men seem like different people now that they are away from HYDRA. Steve, who previously donned his infamous 'Captain America' get up, is now wearing a similar-looking suit to the Colonel. It is the traditional army suit, made from green khaki and featuring a forest green tie. His golden hair is swept back from his face, framing his startling blue eyes.
And Bucky, where is she to start.
He looks absolutely beautiful now that he was able to clean himself up properly. His slight stubble was gone, replaced with a clean-shaven face. His dark locks had been cleaned up, now gelled back from his face and sitting underneath his dark army hat. His skin has finally returned to its lively glow but it is hidden beneath his military uniform.
"Well, reunion time is over. Steve and Bucky will now accompany you to the documents while I go get the offer written up as you wanted." The Colonel address Allie before he turns to the two men. "You believe that you can handle this woman by yourselves?" He asks with a raised eyebrow
"I'm pretty sure that we are capable, Colonel." Bucky grins, sending a wink Allie's way. The Colonel salutes the two men and then makes his way out of the tent without another word.
"You couldn't handle me even if you tried," Allie smirks as she starts to make her way out of the cell, following Steve who is loosely holding her chains.
"Allie! You wound me!" Bucky gasps, throwing a hand over his heart in mock hurt. "Do you really think that lowly of us?" He questions as he can't help but let his pearly white smile sneak through his fake facade.
"No Bucky, but do you really underestimate me that much?" She smirks back as she pushes the tent door open and makes her way through the base quickly. Bucky and Steve quickly mirror her pace, standing side by side with her as they weave their way through the now busy camp.
This time around, Allie keeps her gaze lifted upwards. She returns the hate-filled glares that men give her and she walks with confidence as they walk back to the gates. Perhaps this new courage is due to the fact she has two people whom she trust by her side. They won't let anything happen to her willingly. And she would do the same for them.
Every single glower she receives, she challenges so that they know she isn't some weak female soldier. If they believe that they can belittle her without any fight, they are wrong. She glares back so they know that she isn't like any other woman that they have met in their life.
"Are you always this tense?" Steve asks as they finally arrive at the gate and are no longer surrounded by angry soldiers.
"Only when everybody I see wants to kill me." She states matter of factly and then starts counting underneath her breath as she leads the way her to her backpack.
"If it's any consolation, we don't want to kill you." Bucky jokes as he stares at Allie's focused face. He could pinpoint exactly what emotions she was feeling despite her strong desire to be impassive. He could see the fear that she is hiding in the slight crease of her forehead and the downwards curve of her full lips. But her eyes gleamed with bravery. Her piercing chocolate eyes were an ocean of fierce determination. And as he looked into her eyes, he knew that all the beauty of the universe could not hope to compete with her own beauty.
To him, she was more beautiful than anything that he had ever seen before. She was more radiant than the sun setting above the pristine winter snow. She was warmer than the spring sunshine illuminating the soft new grass on a brilliant day. She was more mesmerizing than the fall leaves where each one has its own variation of orange, creating a beautiful collage of colors.
"Well, I'm glad that I have two people at least who don't want to pull my heart out from my chest." She laughs, breaking Bucky from his trance. He looks over to Steve who gives him a knowing smile and a slight blush creeps up his cheeks.
Bucky hears Allie quietly counting as they make their way their way up the road and his eyebrows furrow in confusion. "What are you counting, doll?" He asks.
"The documents are 250 steps away from the base. We have 30 steps to go." She responds, concentrating on her surroundings.
"Why don't you just remember a certain tree that was nearby?" Steve questions, just as confused as Bucky.
Allie shakes her head, "Images are harder to remember than numbers because the brain can only recall small bits of memory if only observed once. If I tried to remember a tree, the second I saw a similar one I would begin doubting the image in my mind, therefore, it would begin to change. Whereas a number means that I only have to recall one thing." She states, turning her gaze from the road to the two boys who stand at her side, who are looking at her baffled. "Basically, it's a HYDRA thing." She sums up.
"Anyway, it should be over here." She declares and begins to veer off the road. She weaves her way around the trees and bushes that are at the side of the road and quickly sees her motorbike, still in place in front of the oleander bush. "There it is." She breathes out in relief.
She rushes over to the bike and wheels it out of the way before she bends down to begin digging for her backpack. "Why did you get a bike with a sidecar?" Bucky asks as he bends down to start helping her.
"Well, as I was getting out of HYDRA, I found a baby that was left behind in one of the rooms. So I took her and drove off to a small town in southern Austria. I left her behind at the inn I stayed with a lovely lady whose name is Edith. I didn't have time to give her to an orphanage." Allie sighs as she remembers the little girl.
"Wow, the poor kid." Steve says as he watches the two dig for the bag. Allie nods her head and mumbles in agreement. Then a bright smile overcomes her face as she feels the backpack and pulls it from the ground, dusting all the dirt off of it.
"Found it!" She announces as she holds it up for Steve and Bucky to see.
"What's even in there?" Steve asks as Bucky and her stand up from the ground and quickly dust themselves off as well.
"Documents on HYDRA base locations, the super soldier serum, Project Valkyrie, and a thing called the Tesseract. Everything that HYDRA wanted to keep top secret." She states as they begin their walk back to the camp. The walk back is only short, and before they know it they are back at the entrance.
The group is received back at the gate of the base by the Colonel and a few other soldiers who stand a few feet behind him. "Do you have the documents?" The Colonel enquires, eyeing the backpack in Allie's hands.
Allie nods and takes a few steps forward, handing him the backpack. "Everything is in there, even files about me that will corroborate what I have already told you." She responds as the Colonel opens up the bag and begins sorting through the documents. His eyes go wide as he reads the pages and she can't help but smile in satisfaction. "Is that up to your standards, Colonel?" She grins.
"You have gone well above and beyond my expectations, Ms. Williams." He states as he hands the documents to one of the soldiers behind him. "Take those over to Ms. Carter and Mr. Stark, they'll know what to do." He orders and the man quickly scampers off.
"Do you have my offer transcribed yet, Colonel?" She questions and the Colonel then turns to one of the remaining soldiers who hands him a white piece of paper. "I do, signatures and all." He replies as he hands her the document which she skims over. "Congratulations Alexandra, you are a free woman." He continues with a slight smile pulling at his thin lips.
"Thank you, Colonel." She says, mirroring his smile with her own gleaming one. Finally, she is free. This has been all that she has ever wanted and she can't help but feel that she is in a complete state of euphoria.
Now she can do whatever the hell she wants, when she wants. No more playing the lackey for HYDRA. No more killing who they want, practicising when they tell her to, being reprimanded for doing something against their wishes. No more being the puppet in their evil schemes.
After 18 years of sitting at the table, playing poker with the devil, she has finally been dealt a winning hand that will free her from the bonds of hell.
"Rogers, Barnes, show Ms. Williams to the ladies quarters and get her some proper clothes. She looks like she could use some freshening up. Then bring her back to me." The Colonel orders before he turns around and heads back to his own personal tent.
Bucky throws an arm around Allie's shoulders and looks down at her with a huge beaming smile. "Welcome to the U.S army, doll." He smiles.

After taking a quick shower and changing into an American uniform, Bucky and Steve lead her towards the Colonel's tent. They chatted the entire time and it was almost like she was the missing piece in their friendship that they never knew they needed. She was beyond relieved that the two of them didn't judge her on her past, instead deciding to judge her on the actions she made to help them.
It was weird how well they got along considering they barely knew each other. But she trusted them, and that trust was easy to give to the two men. They had both helped her when she needed it the most and they didn't turn her away as many had done before.
The two boys chattered excitedly, not noticing how she is caught up in her own thoughts. She couldn't be more grateful for two people in her life than she is right now. She couldn't possibly imagine how horrible it would have been for her if she had no one she knew at this base when she arrived. She would have to deal with the harassment from all the other soldiers with no one to turn to. It would be like walking out of hell and then having to turn around and go back there.
"Hey Allie, what do you think?" Bucky asks eagerly, snapping Allie from her daze. She looks into his dazzling cerulean eyes in confusion, then turns her gaze over to Steve who is blushing in embarrassment. "Sorry Buck, what was that?" She responds sheepishly.
Bucky lets out a hearty laugh as he looks down at the beautiful girl. "You have a thing with daydreaming, don't you doll!" He chuckles. "I was saying could you imagine the old Steve? All skinny and short with the confidence of a mouse!" Bucky teases.
"I've seen the photos." She blurts before realizing how creepy that sounded. Bucky and Steve give her puzzled looks and she resists the urge to slap herself over the head.
"Um— Everybody knows Steve Roger at HYDRA. I had been briefed on you when you became Captain America so I have seen the photos." She explains, cringing at the creeped out look on Steve's face.
"Now I have made a fool of myself. I'm sorry I know how creepy that sounds." She apologizes profusely.
"It's alright Allie." Steve offers her a smile, trying to ignore how creepy it sounded.
"Well, I thought you were cute if that makes you feel any better? And I am sure that you were up to his neck in women." She squeaks awkwardly.
"He wasn't up to his neck in women because they were all taller than him anyway!" Bucky cackles in amusement at his own joke. Allie can't hold back her own smile as Steve glowers at Bucky angrily.
"Ha Ha, very funny Buck." He deadpans.
The trio continues walking towards the Colonel's tent, which is on the other side of the camp, chatting and laughing at each other. Allie walks slightly behind the two, listening in on their conversation with a smile. Blissfully unaware of what lurked behind her.
Then suddenly, Allie feels the cool barrel of a gun resting against the back of her head. She halts her movement and her entire body tenses, ready to fight. Her two companions walk a few more steps before they realize her absence and turn around, panic immediately overtaking their faces.
"Fucking HYDRA scum walking around in an American uniform. What a disgrace." A man's voice spits in anger, pushing the barrel further into her head. Allie can almost see the steam coming out of Bucky's ear as he tenses his knuckles in anger, whereas Steve remains completely composed. But she can still see the fear that sits in his azure eyes.
"Don't do this soldier. If you kill her you will be sent to prison." Steve responds composed. The man suddenly wraps his free arm around her throat, severing her air supply. Thankfully, Allie has been trained for situations like this, so she discretely shifts her head to the side, regaining oxygen.
"I ain't scared of prison, Cap." He snarls maliciously. "But this bitch right here, her people killed my family. Don't you think she deserves to go to prison!" He continues.
A small crowd has gathered around the four of them, but nobody steps in to help her. They all stand and watch, probably because they believe what that man is spewing in his unwarranted preaching. Not wanting to save the woman who only hours ago, was considered their enemy. But Allie keeps her eyes focused on Bucky and Steve, both who are now considerably agitated.
"No, she does not. She saved American troops back at the HYDRA base. She freed you !" Steve bellows, taking a step forward but stops when the man sends a powerful punch into her ribs.
"Stay back or else I'll pull the trigger!" The man barks as Allie lets out a low moan in pain, bending over slightly. "So what she saved a few men? The bitch has probably killed double that in the name of HYDRA!" He spits venomously. As Allie lifts her gaze back up she spots the Colonel at the back of the crowd and they lock eyes. He sends a small nod her way and she knows what to do.
"She has not! Don't even-" Bucky starts angrily but is abruptly cut off by Allie.
"No, he is right. I am a cold-blooded murderer." She declares, watching Bucky's face as it goes from anger to shock and then back to anger.
"What the fuck are you playing at Allie?" He yells in utter confusion. He has absolutely no clue what she is doing and he is absolutely terrified for her. It is a fear that he has never felt before, not even back at HYDRA. The fear that he is feeling sits on his body like a pillow, covering his mouth and nose. It barely lets enough of the oxygen that he needs into his lungs. Making it hard for him to articulate the words that he wants to say.
"See, even she agrees. This psycho bitch is now one of us! To hell with that, I want her head on a spike!" The man screams to the crowd, pulling Allie with him as he faces his comrades. She hears some cheers fill the air as they agree with the man's statement. Then she sees some of the men who are silently agreeing but don't want to get on Steve's bad side. And then there are the ones who don't care at all if she lives or dies.
"Well then, kill me. Put a bullet through my skull, take my head off of my shoulders or stab a knife in my gut. Don't pretend you don't all want to see me gone. I was apart of a group that murdered innocent people, they would kill your children, wives, girlfriends or friends if they got the chance. So go ahead, execute me." She screams into the crowd and is greeted with a thunder of cheers. Men shout at her, ordering the man to put them out of their misery. And the cheers grow and grow until they become almost deafening.
Steve and Bucky attempt to run at her but they are held back by Colonel Phillips who has made his way to the front of the crowd. "She knows what she is doing." He whispers to the two who look at him anxiously.
All of the cheering gets the man excited. He finally has what he wants in his hands. He cocks the gun and shoots a bullet into the sky, reeling in the praise from his fellow soldiers. And that's when Allie makes her move. She quickly tucks her chin into the man's arm that is still encircled around her throat and shrugs her shoulders, creating a small space for her fingers to grip onto.
She leans forward a little and locks her back foot around his, pushing him slightly off balance. Then she pulls herself out of the headlock and throws the man across her body and onto the ground forcefully. She swiftly strikes the inside of his forearm which then causes him to drop the gun and she picks it up and points it at his own head. And just like that, the cheerings stop. Everyone is dead silent.
"You are no better than HYDRA if you kill someone based on the group that they were forced to align with. You are supposed to be saving people but here you are trying to kill me even though I have done nothing to you. I was not the person who killed your families or your friends but you blame me for it anyway." She shouts into the crowd, still holding the gun at the man who is trying to crawl away from her. The soldiers all stare at her, not uttering a word as her own statement sinks in.
"But you admitted it! You said you were a killer!" The man shouts back, somehow not understanding that she could shoot him if she wanted. Allie looks over his face, seeing a man who clearly has gone through a lot in his life and is buckling under the strain. His eyes frantically searching for help in the sea of people, looking for some aid. She feels sorry for him but that does not excuse him from trying to kill her for a crime that she did not commit.
"I am, but you are too. We are in a war, everybody here is a killer. We all have to kill to survive so what makes you more deserving of forgiveness then me? Why do I deserve death when you don't?" She growls as she takes a menacing step towards the man. "This war is a 'kill or be killed' place but that does not mean that I regret every action that I have performed at HYDRA." She answers and then releases the bullets from the chamber in the gun. They clatter on the ground and roll in the short grass, now becoming nothing more than a souvenir.
Allie drops the gun beside the man's head and she kneels down to face him. "I am truly sorry for your family, but if you try to kill me again I will not hesitate to return the favor." She growls before standing back up and walking up to Bucky, Steve, and Colonel Phillips.
"Did you enjoy the show?" She asks with a small smile, looking at the Colonel who returns a knowing smirk.
"It was quite the spectacle, it sounds like you could use a better opponent next time." He responds and beckons for the trio to follow him to his tent.
The second that the Colonel is a few feet in front, Bucky wacks Allie across the shoulder. "Don't you ever to that to us again!" He whispers angrily, glaring at Allie. A smile pulls at her lips as she laughs lightly at his distressed face, patting him on the shoulder.
"It looked like you were gonna have a heart attack, old man!" She laughs and skips off to catch up with the Colonel.
"I swear to God Allie! Hey guys! Slow down will ya!" He yells as Steve and Allie walk off, smiling at each other.
But both the boys saw the look that Allie showed when she was listening to that man speak. They both saw how she silently agreed with him. They both saw how she agreed that she shouldn't be alive. And what's scary is that they still have no idea what she has done in her time at HYDRA. They don't know what to say because they both don't know Allie's past. They don't know how to help because nobody knows the type of help she needs. Nobody does.
