Strategic Scientific Reserve Headquarters, England

. .

The next day, Bucky promised Allie that he would take her out to see London properly before she attends her briefing with Steve in the afternoon. Allie was almost bouncing in excitement while she waited for him to come past her room at the base and take her into town. She couldn't believe that she was finally going to see the true beauty of London, and what made it even more exciting was Bucky actually wanted to take her. She wouldn't admit it but she was glad that it was him taking her out because she wasn't sure how she was going to feel going through the streets of the city that she once lived with someone else.

Then she heard the familiar sound of knocking on her door, where Bucky was waiting outside right on time. She quickly rushed to open the door of her room and was greeted with a bright smile. He was wearing his usual military uniform with pride and his hair was gelled back off his face. His eyes sparkled with happiness and a warm smile adorned his face. He was absolutely handsome and she would be stupid not to know it.

"Allie, you are truly a sight for sore eyes." Bucky smiles, captivated by her own beauty. She had decided to wear the spare uniform that Peggy gave her, which consisted of a moss green blazer and skirt, a white shirt and small black heels. She was unsure if this outfit was acceptable considering that she has never been a proper lady who had a normal life. All she used to wear was a black HYDRA uniform unless when she was on missions.

"Thank you, Buck." She says as a rosy blush warmed her face. "You look handsome too." She continues, giving him a shy smile. Bucky let out a happy laugh and threw his arm around Allie's shoulders, guiding her towards the exit of the gates.

"Thank you, doll. Are you ready to hit up the town?" He asks as he beams down at her. "As ready as I'll ever be." She answers as she looks up into his beautiful azure eyes. Eyes that she would gladly get lost in.

Before long, the two were walking around the busy streets of London, a laughing mess as Bucky made it his mission that he would keep her beautiful smile on her face. He would point out buildings and tell her what they were, and she would nod and smile back at him even though she already knew what they were. He would make jokes about people that they passed which earned him multiple slaps on the chest and Allie would hide her face in embarrassment.

And as Bucky gazes down at the beautiful girl that is standing by his side, he couldn't believe how lucky he was to meet such a girl. Even if this would be the last time he ever saw her, he would be eternally grateful. She is so beautiful and mysterious, like no girl he had ever met before. She made him feel his own heartbeat thumping in his chest, almost like it was beating for her.

He had only known Allie for a few weeks while they had been living in a place comparable to hell, but even then she stood out amongst all the demons. She was a broken angel living in a place that she didn't belong. But even though his heart screamed at him to keep her close, his mind told him to be wary. Not because she will betray him, but because he doesn't want to push her away. He doesn't want to force something so complicated like a relationship onto her when she has been plagued by pain her entire life.

But the crazy thing is, he would accept being just her friend if it means that he could stay by her side. He would accept the pain of just being a friend so that he wouldn't lose her.

So the pair continued their journey through London, staring up at magnificent buildings and admiring the history of the beautiful city for a few more hours before they decide to have lunch then head back to the base. They grab a small sandwich from a local cafe and they agree to stop at a small park and have their lunch there. They park themselves on a small bench that overlooks a magnificent lake that is so blue it rivals the blue of Bucky's eyes.

"So doll, how has everybody been treating you? Just say the word an I'll go beat up anyone that isn't treating you right. I'll even try to take on the mighty Captain if needs be." Bucky chides and takes a bite from his sandwich, looking at Allie expectantly.

"I would like to see that one day! But no, everybody has been beyond lovely." Allie smiles. "Peggy said she would take me shopping for my own clothes before we leave and Howard and I are going to work on recreating Erskine's serum tomorrow!" She continues gleefully.

"Wasn't spying on Howard one of your missions?" Bucky asks suspiciously, taking another bite of his sandwich to hide the frown that is pulling at his lips.

"I was but we really got on well when I pretended to be his assistant for the day. But because I knew Erskine so well and he taught me a lot of the science that is in creating his serum, Howard thinks that if we put our brains together we could possibly recreate it." She answers with a wide grin and Bucky nods at her.

Bucky quickly tries to quell the jealous thoughts in his head. He doesn't want to be that guy that gets insecure when the girl that they like hangs out with another man. It isn't fair to her so he plasters a smile on his face as she keeps on eating.

"Wow, this is so good! What's this meat that I'm eating?" She questions as she stares at her sandwich in awe, causing Bucky to let out a loud laugh.

"Have you never had chicken before?" He chortles as he watches Allie shovel more of the food into her mouth. "This is chicken!" she gasps as she quickly swallows the mouthful of food. "It's amazing!" She continues amid Bucky's laughter.

"You really need to get out more!" Bucky laughs as he meets Allie's excited eyes and she nods fervently in agreement. "There is still so much of the world that I need to see and so many things that I want to do!" She beams eagerly.

"Well, I promise that I'll take you wherever you want to go and we can do whatever you want to do." Bucky grins and is quickly greeted with the sight of Allie shaking her head and pointing her index finger at him with a cheeky smile on her face. "Don't go making promises you can't keep Mr. Barnes." She says accusingly.

"This is a promise that I intend to keep, Ms. Williams." He counters, smirking at her.

"Well then Bucky, I'm looking forward to our secret rendezvous across the world." She responds brightly, staring into his brilliant cerulean eyes and mirroring his wide smile. A smile which would make all the stars in the sky jealous of how bright it shines. A smile which makes her feel all kinds of happiness.

"So am I, doll." He answers. But them, almost like he had been woken from a dream, he looks down at his watch and lets out a disappointed sigh. "The Colonel will have my head if we don't get back to the base on time so I think that it's time to leave doll." He says sadly as he pushes himself up from the bench that they were sitting on. He holds his hand out for Allie and she takes his in her own, enclasping her small hand in his large one.

"I have had a great time, Buck." She starts, looking out across the bright blue lake. "Thank you so much for taking me out with you." She smiles as they slowly make their way back to the base.

"It was my pleasure, Allie." He replies as he looks down at their two hands. Her soft hand that was intertwined with his fitted almost perfectly. Her long and nimble fingers completed the space that was left in his. It felt like her hand was the missing piece of the puzzle. And together, they continued their journey back to camp, cherishing their happy conversations and the feeling of being in each other company.

. .

Allie strides into the underground Allied HQ with her head held high. The room is made entirely of bricks and is dimly lit due to the few lights that hang from the ceiling. Soldiers loiter around the bunker, moving from one spot to another, as they plan their next attack on HYDRA. All she can hear is people barking orders and shuffling around, handing files from one person to another. Her own heels clicked as she walked into the room, a gift courtesy of Peggy.

Allie quickly makes her way towards the corner of the room, around the huge table in the center that is decked out with a large map of the world. She gives a few small nods to people that she passes and is soon greeted with the sight of Steve, Peggy and another man standing over a map of Europe.

"The fifth one was here in Poland, right near the Baltic. " Steve says as he marks the spot on the map. "And the sixth one was... about here, 30 - 40 miles west of the Maginot Line." He continues, giving the pencil a small tap against his hand to indicate that he is done.

The other man goes to take the map from the table but Allie quickly stops him. "Wait!" She says as she picks up the spare pencil from the small drawer to her right. Steve looks over at her, slightly confused and Peggy gives her a warm smile.

"There's also another large base in Austria, here." She states as she marks the map with a cross. "And there are also two smaller ones in Belgium and Czechoslovakia." She continues as she marks the map again. She then stands back up properly, checking that all the bases that she knows have been marked off and then gives the soldier a nod when she is done. He snatches the map up and quickly hurries away with it, not ushering a word.

"I just got a quick look," Steve responds awkwardly and Peggy rolls her eyes at him "Well, nobody's perfect." She says with a smile and then walks towards the table in the center of the room, her heels creating a melodious tapping noise as she walks. Steve watches as she leaves, a lovestruck look covering his face as he gazes at her somewhat creepily.

"Steve!" Allie jabs at his chest with her elbow and he quickly snaps out of it. "Right." He says and quickly follows Peggy with Allie at his heels.

In front of them, Peggy meets up Colonel Phillips and leads them towards where Europe is situated on the large map. There are small black building with flags that resembles the Nazi symbol placed around the table, indicating HYDRA bases. As Allie looks on she can't help but feel somewhat guilty. She helped create that rotten empire, she assisted in their plans for global domination. But all she can do now is hope that there is enough time left for her to help take them down.

"These are the weapon factories we know about," Steve says as they near the edge of the table. "Sergeant Barnes said that HYDRA shipped all the parts to another facility that isn't on this map." The Colonel nods and turns to looks at Allie expectantly.

"All that I know is that they were being shipped from one of the facilities in Eastern Europe." She replies slightly embarrassed but the Colonel pays no mind and turns around to Peggy. "Agent Carter, coordinate with MI6. I want every Allied eyeball looking for that main Hydra base." He orders in his thick American accent as he walks away from the table and towards the side of the room.

"What about us?" Peggy asks as the three of them follow him and stand in a line when he reaches the brick wall. The Colonel turns around as a beautiful young woman walks up to him and holds out some files for him to take.

"We are gonna set a fire under Johann Schmidt's ass." He states as he takes the files from her perfectly manicured fingers. "What do you say, Rogers? It's your map, you think you can wipe HYDRA off of it?" He asks and the female officer by his side looks up at Steve in admiration.

"Yes, sir. I'll need a team." Steve answers nonchalantly and turns around to give Allie a quick smile which she returns.

"We're already putting together the best men." The Colonel states as he rifles through the white papers that he is holding. "With all due respect, sir. So am I." Steve answers back which causes Allie to smile and the Colonel to look up at Steve with a challenging look.

"Alright then Rogers, you can have your pick." The Colonel nods and then turns to the blonde lady at his side. "Come with me, Private Lorraine." He orders gruffly and the two file out of the room.

"Well, that went better than expected." Steve sighs in relief and Allie pats his shoulder with a grin on her lips. "Well, Captain it looks like you have your own team now. I think congratulations are in order." Allie says as she looks up into Steve's blue eyes.

"Thank you, but I was-" Steve starts but is quickly cut off by Peggy. "I heard the lads of the 107th were heading down to a local pub for some drinks tonight, maybe you should join and ask a few of them." She comments.

"Oh um, that's a good idea, Ms. Carter." Steve stutters as he looks between Allie and Peggy. "Lovely, well Ms. Williams and I might even be in attendance then so save us a drink." She announces which causes Allie to whip her head around in shock.

"We are?" She questions confused and Peggy nods her head. "Yes, and on that note, we must be off. You have some tests that need to be completed" Peggy says to Allie as she grabs her arm and turns on her heels to leave. She mumbles a quick goodbye to Steve before she starts dragging Allie out of the room.

"Oh, goodbye Steve!" Allie shouts with a smile as she catches her feet and walks in sync with Peggy. Steve shouts a goodbye back right as the turn out of the room and into the bustling streets of London.

"Do I really have tests that need to be completed?" Allie asks confused.

"Do you think I am a liar?"

"No."

"You're right. I just bend the truth."

. .

"I don't know about this Peggy, I feel ridiculous!" Allie complains as she walks along the cobbled pathway that leads them to the pub where Steve and Bucky are. She looks down at the beautiful blue dress that Peggy let her borrow and she can't help but frown. She has only ever dressed up for a few missions so that she could go undetected as she did whatever she had to do. Never once has she ever dressed up to actually impress people or go to a pub with horny soldiers. This is a completely new experience for her and she is slightly regretting not standing up to Peggy and staying home. But Peggy seems like the type of person who won't take no for an answer.

"You look lovely, Allie. Now hurry up or we will be late." She answers slightly frustrated at her incessant whining. "It's only at the end of the street so it's too late to back out now." She continues.

Peggy is decked out in a beautiful scarlet dress with a sweetheart neckline that hugs at all her curves perfectly. The satin collar that she is wearing reflects the light as she walks, making her look like an image from a daydream. She looks absolutely radiant, and on the other hand, Allie looks like a sack of skin and bones. Allie didn't quite fit into the dress the same way that Peggy did so she looks like she was almost drowning in the material. Standing next to someone as beautiful as Peggy already made her slightly self-conscious, but now all she wants is to go lay in her comfy bed back at the base and sleep.

"Alright, I'm coming." She groans as she matches Peggy's speed. Unfortunately for Allie, not before long they were at the outside of the pub and Peggy strode inside without any hesitation. The second that she walked inside, the entire bar fell silent. The conversations haltered, the singing faded into silence and all eyes were drawn to her. Everybody stopped and stared as she made her way inside, looking for Steve. Men and women alike were captivated by her beauty and thankfully, paid no mind to the girl who followed wordlessly behind her.

As the two enter the back they see Bucky and Steve standing up, watching them enter with wide eyes. "Captain," Peggy announces as she stops in the doorway, nearly causing Allie to go tumbling into her.

"Agent Carter, Allie," Steve responds seriously which causes Allie to furrow her eyebrows. She thought that they were friends considering how well Peggy talks about Steve. She could tell that Steve was head over heels for the woman but was much too awkward and shy to actually act on those feelings.

"Ma'am, Allie," Bucky grins as Allie makes her way over and stands next to him, returning his smile with one of her own. "Hey, guys." She nods with a warm smile.

"Howard has some equipment for you to try tomorrow morning." Peggy says as she goes to stand in front of Steve who looks as if he is about to start drooling. "Sounds good." He replies as his eyes don't leave hers.

Peggy quickly looks over and sees a table of men from the 107th who are making a ruckus which gives Steve the opportunity to discretely look Peggy up and down. The action causing a knowing smile to overcome Allie's features. "I see your top squad is prepping for duty," Peggy states as she turns back to meet Steve's eyes.

"You don't like music?" Bucky teases which makes Allie look up at him confused, she didn't know that Bucky also had a thing for Peggy.

"I do, actually," Peggy informs, her eyes not wavering from Steve's. "I might even, when this is all over, go dancing." She continues, giving Steve a knowing look that he doesn't seem to register.

Bucky not so discreetly, elbows Steve in the ribs which causes him to whirl his head around and give Bucky an incredulous look. Bucky sighs as he turns back to Peggy, flashing her an award-winning smile. "Then what are you waiting for?"

"The right partner. 0800, Captain." She states as she walks strides from the trio. "Same for you, Allie." She continues as she walks through the doorway and into the front section of the pub.

"Yes, ma'am. I'll be there." Steve answers, looking down at his polished shoes and then back up to Bucky and Allie. The second that Peggy is out of eyesight, Bucky slaps Steve on the shoulder. "Hey! What was that for?" He asks confused as he rubs the area where Bucky hit hem even though it barely hurt him.

"Seriously man! Did you not see what we saw?" Bucky says incredulously and throws his hands up in emphasis. "What?" Steve answers confused and Bucky just shakes his head.

"She's into you man!" He says exasperatedly and Steve's eyes widen. "No, she's not." He answers and shakes his head in denial which causes Bucky to let out a disappointed sigh.

"You know what, I'm just going to go and get this lovely dame a drink," He frowns before turning to Allie and giving her a warm smile. "I'll be back, doll." He says as she gives her arm a gentle squeeze before he walks off to the bar.

"I actually have something to ask you, Allie," Steve interjects and gestures to a wooden table by his side. Allie nods and quickly makes her way over to the table where she takes a seat opposite to Steve.

"I know how you said that you wanted to help take down HYDRA, so I was wondering if you wanted to join my team?" Steve asks with a smile. "I think with your expertise, we would be unbeatable." He adds and Allie vigorously nods her head in agreement.

"Steve, I would love to be a part of your team." She beams happily. "But, the problem with having me on your team is everyone else will more than likely not trust me because of my past. I don't want to be the cause of a divider." She informs and Steve shakes his head.

"Allie, I'm sure that the other guys won't hold your past over your head. They're all good people." Steve reassures but inside, Allie isn't persuaded. The people that HYDRA had killed were good people. The people that HYDRA made her kill were good people. But Allie just nods her head anyway. This opportunity has been all she has wanted for years and now with Steve and Bucky by her side, she is sure that they can take down HYDRA together.

"Hey, guys! I brought the rest of the gang over because it looks like the talk went the right way." Bucky grins as he pulls up a chair next to Allie. "Here is your drink, doll," Bucky says as he places a foreign looking liquid in front of her.

"Wait, she's apart of the team?" A man yells outraged, causing Allie to raise her gaze up to a familiar looking man. Mr. Jones, she recalls as she takes in his appearance. He certainly looks much better now that he is out of HYDRA. His dark skin has regained some life and he looks much better fed than what she had last seen him looking like.

"Mr. Jones, you look much better than the last time I saw you." She compliments awkwardly as the six other men flick their eyes between the two. "No thanks to you." He spits angrily and slams his drink down on the table.

"I'm sorry about how we first met, but I can assure you, I am not the same person that you think I am." She justifies, speaking softly in a vain attempt to not make him any angrier. Everybody in this area of the pub now has there eyes trained on the two, and not for good reason.

"Bullshit! You are HYDRA scum and there is no way in hell that I am going to endanger my life by working with you." He growls. She could see the anger burning in his eyes, how his muscles tensed as he stared at her in rage. She understood his pain, she knew what it felt like to be angry at those who had imprisoned her. So she knows that she has to show him that she is better than what he thinks and not just give him empty promises.

"Please, Mr. Jones! If you walk out on this opportunity, you will regret it." She replies, almost begging him. She wasn't begging him to stay for her sake, she didn't really care whether he left or not, but for Steve's. This is Steve's team and it wouldn't be fair for her to be the cause of another person leaving when they were here because of Steve. Steve obviously trusts him and she trusts Steve so he has to stay.

"If you walk out, you are walking away from the opportunity to take HYDRA down. To take down the people that imprisoned you for months and made you their prisoner. To take down the people who would have no hesitation of killing your family and friends" She continues. "I know you hate me but these people here trust you. They want you on the team, so stay for them."

Her words swim around in his head as he contemplates the idea. She can still see his fervent hate for her but she can also see that he listened to what she said anyway. "Fine, I'll stay." He snarls and then points a finger up at her accusingly. "But I want you to stay the hell away from me."

"Hey, Gabe-" Steve starts but is quickly cut off by Allie. "It's fine Steve, I understand." She says as she stands up and starts to leave but a hand catches her wrist before she goes.

"Doll..." Bucky trails off as Allie shakes her head at him. "I'll see you guys tomorrow then." She smiles as she pulls her hand away from his and begins to leave.

"Mon Dieu! / My God! " She hears faintly before she exits the doors of the pub and heads home to retire for the night.

. .

"So Allie, I'll have to quickly catch you up to speed," Howard informs as he rushes down the stairs, taking two at a time. Allie nods her head as she flattens out her slightly disheveled white shirt and tucks it back into her army green skirt. She still hasn't quite gotten used to wearing her new attire.

"That's fine by me," Allie says as she turns into the large science lab. To her right sits a large table with all sorts of notes spread out on top and in front of her is a glass wall with a small HYDRA cartridge sitting on display.

"So, in that glass chamber is a cartridge that Rogers obtained when he went on that raid in Austria. We were hoping to find the main power source of the gun, which is in this cartridge, and find out how exactly it powers the gun." Howard explains as he grabs his lab coat from the small bench behind him and he opens the first draw to give Allie a spare. "Here." He says as he holds the lab coat out for her.

"Thanks," Allie smiles as she takes it and puts it on. "So, Schmidt was using it as some sort of laser ammunition?" She asks as she shrugs on the coat and follows Howard towards the glass.

"Exactly." Howard nods as he waits for the lab technicians to check the technology. "Didn't you ever use one?" He questions, looking over at Allie who shakes her head.

"They were only for ground soldiers." She answers right as a man shouts that the chamber is ready. Howard nods as he takes ahold of the two hand grips and slowly moves them so the metal arms pick up the glowing blue power source that looks like a small stone.

"Emission signature is unusual. Alpha and beta ray neutral." Howard analyzes as one arm slowly picks up the stone. "Though I doubt Rogers picked up on that." He smiles which causes the lab tech and Allie to chuckle.

"Seems harmless enough. Hard to see what all the fuss is about." Howard says as he moves the other arm to hold the stone as well but Allie's eyes widen in fear.

"Howard, I wouldn't do that-" She warns but is cut off when her body is thrown back by a large blue blast. Her body hits the floor a couple of feet away and she groans as she pushes herself up. Pain runs up her arms as the palms of her hands get cut by the millions of pieces of shattered glass that fill the room.

"Write that down," Howard orders as he slowly pushes himself up too. A man races towards Howard to help him up but he quickly shoos him away as he gets back onto his feet. He then hurries towards Allie and helps her stand up.

"You alright there, Allie?" He asks sincerely as he takes her palms and checks for any large cuts. "No, just a little sore but I should be right." She smiles as she wipes the soot from her face with her free hand.

"Now, why the hell did that blow up?" He says as he walks back over to where the glass wall once stood. His face is furrowed in concentration and his chocolate colored eyes stare at the glowing pellet.

"I think that when you removed the power source from the cartridge and introduced it to a new environment, it became unstable and highly fragile which resulted in the explosion. If perhaps, you can neutralize the reaction that it causes when touched in a similar environment, you might be able to figure out a way to neutralize the laser ammunition completely." Allie informs as she makes her way over to Howard and watches as his face turns into one of shock.

"You're... completely right! Perhaps it was the introduction to nitrogen that destabilized its molecular structure." Howard answers as he grabs a piece of paper from the nearby table and begins jotting down notes.

"That destabilization could have resulted in a lack of structural integrity and therefore released the power it needed to return to a stable state again." Allie continues as Howard nods along to what she says and quickly writes what she said down onto the piece of paper.

"Did you do a lot of chemistry at HYDRA?" Howard jokes as he hands the paper to the technician who has dusted himself off after being thrown back too. Allie shakes her head with a forlorn smile. "No, that was Erskine's doing. Whenever I had a bad day, he would always take me into his lab secretly and he taught me chemistry. It would take my mind off how horrible my life was there. He always said that I could release my pent-up anger by blowing things up instead of people." She laughs sadly as Howard gives her a worried look.

"He was a brilliant man, Allie. He loved you so much that he left behind his most prized possession with you, his knowledge." Howard says gently as he turns to Allie and places a hand on her shoulder empathetically.

"I'm nowhere near as smart as what he was. I don't think anybody could be." Allie replies dejectedly but plasters a smile on her face anyway. "But thank you, Howard, this definitely made my morning a lot more interesting." She laughs which causes Howard to chuckle as well.

"Well, you are more than welcome to come back to my lab. I could always use your help." He grins back as she takes off her now dirty lab coat.

"Don't worry, I'll be back soon!" She assures him as she turns to leave. "Thanks for the invite, Howard!" She laughs as she makes her way up the stairs and towards her next meeting of the day.

"Hey wait! We are both supposed to be going to see the Colonel!" Howard yells as he quickly shrugs his coat off and haphazardly throws it on the table, leaving the mess he made behind. "Allie!" He shouts as he runs across the rooms and quickly tries to catch up to her. Allie laughs as she slows down to wait for Howard to catch up.

"Were you planning to leave without reminding me?" Howard asks as he quickly catches up to Allie who is walking towards another one of Howard's many labs. "Well, me leaving did remind you didn't it?" She chuckles.

"Yes, but you were hoping that I would forget so you would look good in front of the Colonel!" Howards accuses, pointing a finger at her in mock hurt. "I was not!" She grins as she turns to make her way down the stairs.

"You were too!" Howard shouts back and is only greeted with laughter. A burst of laughter that brought a smile to his face and to hers. A laughter that made her grateful that she left HYDRA.
