WHEN HER EYES FLEW OPEN TO SEE WHERE SHE WAS AND WHERE SHE ENDED UP FROM MEDITATING, (Y/N) NOW FOUND HERSELF INISDE A DIFFERENT WORLD AND HAD GONE INTO KYOSHI'S SHRINE TO TALK TO HER. She feels the forces around her as her fingers twitch, trying to adjust to the new sensation's she was feeling in the spirt realm of Kyoshi.

"(Y/N)!" A powerful, distorted voice suddenly called out right by her ears, causing the girl to jolt a bit and gasp not expecting it. She span around to see who it was, jaw dropping a bit spotting a furious looking Kyoshi standing before, "It's about time I finally see you."

She felt both amazement and intimidation from being in the presence of the older Avatar, and shifted in her spot a bit awkwardly, "Uh, sorry about that." She muttered rubbing the back of her head, "I didn't know how to reach you. Nor did I know I could reach you. So, I'm sorry."

Kyoshi sighed heavily through her mouth, face painted in the warrior makeup with their gear on her body also, "There's a lot you don't know, young one." She vented out, eyes trailing over the smaller girls figure, "There are many dimensions to being the Avatar. You need to be a guardian, a general, a mediator, a guide."

She began to slowly walk around (Y/N) with her hands behind her back talking, the latter completely unaware of how a certain handsome prince was currently on the island and searching for her. But Katara and Aang were watching over her body, so there wasn't much to worry about expect for not getting to see Zuko again.

"You must fill several roles, and many of them require unparalleled strength." Kyoshi finished the start of her long lecture, appearing back in front of the confused girl as her arms were still behind her back, really adding to that serious aura.

(Y/N) raised her eyebrows in thought with a hum, gaze moving past the warrior to the glitched environment around them, before looking back at Kyoshi, "That's why I need to master all bending disciplines?" She asked a bit incredulously, understanding but also not agreeing with it, "To become strong?"

Kyoshi's lips perked up a bit into a fond smile, sensing the fire within her that would spark her bending and courage to succeed, "Yes. And to help you gain control over the ultimate power." She responded now crossing her hands over her lower stomach, "The Avatar state is the combination of all your past lives, focusing their energy through you. The Avatar state gives you strength of a thousand benders."

Her (E/C) eyes glazed over hearing the last bit sadly, hair covering her forehead as she looked down to the ground ashamed, "I've seen it." She sighed out remembering the event back at her home, "And I know its useful, and will save a lot of lives, but it's dangerous when not controlled."

"That is right. If uncontrolled, yes," Kyoshi bent down a little to the girls heigh, lifting one of her gloved hands onto (Y/N)'s shoulder to offer some more support, "but it can also be the ultimate weapon, and it can save your life." She tells the girl, hinting at what saved her from drowning all those years ago.

When she uttered no response Kyoshi pulled back her hand, and stood up to her full height again which towered over her greatly, "You wanna know what is the Avatar? I can't tell you that." Kyoshi's voice was a bit softer now, sensing the inner conflict she had with herself, "Every Avatar is different. We are shaped by the different demands of our time."

Her face scrunched up a bit before it dropped into a look of despair realising what Kyoshi was saying, "... S-so I have to figure this out myself?" She breathed out looking frantically at the taller woman before her, who's eyes softened a bit, "I don't even know what I'm doing to begin with!"

"That is part of the journey, young one."

(Y/N) shakes her head at Kyoshi's glancing down at her palms, as she flexes and moves them around feeling the power flowing through her veins, "I understand this is part of the learning process, but what if I hurt someone along the way?" Her voice was getting a bit emotional, causing Kyoshi to pause in her tracks.

"And how many already been hurt because you haven't be here?" Her words were a low blow Kyoshi knew that, but it was the only way to open the girl eyes. Her face hardens up as she glared at the fearful (Y/N), "Run away from your responsibilities again, and even more will be hurt! Being the Avatar means putting your duties above all else. Even your life!"

Her bottom lip quivers a bit realising Kyoshi was probably right, and that she needed to step up instead of hiding away. But who could blame her? Having that much responsibility on her shoulders was scary, and she was terrified of failing the world because she's already done that once. And she can't, she won't do it again.

Kyoshi sighed heavily spotting the tears wanting to spill from her (E/C) eyes, and squatted down in front of the girl again, gently taking her arm in her hand, "I was like you once. But then I saw what was at stake," She raised her other hand to touch the center of (Y/N)'s forehead with a finger, "and I will show you what will happen if you fail."

The girl was taking into a vision of the future as her eyes fly shut, seeing a massive blast of fire being thrown onto a village tower, followed by more explosions lighting a wildfire that was killing those who lived in the North watertribe, and a lot more destruction caused by the Fire Nation. Deaths, deaths, and deaths. That was all she saw flowing through her mind.

"Tragedy awaits the North, and unless you do something about it, another race of benders will be wiped out just like the air nomads were."

Her eyes fly open with a strangled gasp once the vision was over, struggling to calm down from what she saw as the grip Kyoshi had on her arm was her only groudment. The older one squeezed her forearm to direct her attention, and (Y/N)'s wide, horrified gaze falls onto Kyoshi's calm, and confident one.

"You asked me what it means to be the Avatar. It means being a warrior." The eartbender's intensity suddenly grew now, as she slowly stood back up from the ground, voice becoming louder and distorted, "A mighty, mercilessly warrior."

(Y/N)'s own rage was building up also hearing what the old Avatar thought, and stepped back a bit from Kyoshi as she shakes her head, "What if I do what you say, and it all just becomes worse?" She spat out still in fear, tugging at the bracelet on her wrist to calm herself, "I have so many people depending on me, and I can't even control my own power!"

"It will get worse." Kyoshi interrupted over the frantically speaking girl, and nods her head firmly which made her head piece move also, "Your very presence in this world will make things worse. At first, both sides will fight harder because the Avatar has returned. Hope does not come without a cost."

Her jaw clenched trying to keep her emotions in check, knowing if she raged out it wouldn't be good for anyone especially herself, "So what's the point then?" She exclaimed throwing her hand up into the air, "You're telling me all that bad stuff about being the Avatar, nothing good obviously comes from it!"

"You want things to be easy? None of this will be easy." Kyoshi rose her own voice to overpower the girls, almost like she was scolding a child for thinking horribly, "Avoid your duties any longer, and not only will you fail to save the world, you won't even be able to save this island."

Her stomach churned a bit hearing what Kyoshi said, eyes now going wide realising that her friends and the island was in trouble. Her thoughts drift to Sokka, Aang and Katara, and all those kind warriors who were so nice to her while she had stayed in the village. She couldn't let them get hurt because of her, not again.

"You wanted to know about the power of the Avatar. I will show you what the power can do." Kyoshi's voice began to become distorted again as it echoes, her eyes glowing a bright colour now and she lifts her arms up. She brings her own spirit out her so it was visible, and sent it straight into (Y/N), causing her eyes, and markings to begin glowing brightly too.

Next thing the girl knew was that she was seeing through the eyes of Kyoshi, and was awake in the real word. Kyoshi was channelling herself through (Y/N), as she landed right in between Katara, Aang and Zuko with a massive gust of air that exploded out from her feet when she landed.

Zuko grunted when he was knocked out balance, which made his fire blow out also. Katara and Aang both protected each other from the gust, as they stare in awe at the powerful figure of Kyoshi, and had a feeling this was their friends doing.

Kyoshi's glowing blue eyes flickered to the shocked Zuko, hearing the comment from (Y/N) to not hurt him too badly as she smirked a bit. She raised her hand up when Zuko went to fire again, but sent him tumbling back with a blast of air once more. Once this was done she looked to Katara and Aang for a few seconds knowing they were the girls friends, before she shot up into the air by the fire blasting out from her feet.

She traveled all the way towards the village, where both Avatars could see the destruction even up from the sky. Feeling how worried (Y/N) was, Kyoshi flew faster using her firebending, before she shot straight down in the middle of the fight.

Another massive gust of air pushed back everyone around from her arrival, which included all the soldiers from the Fire Nation. Through the disappearing dust, Commander Zhao's face paled in horror meeting the glowing eyes of Kyoshi, who looked really pissed off.

Over near the edges of the village ground, Sokka was laying down beside Suki, both dusty and dirty from fighting. He didn't even realise his sister and Aang had returned, as his attention was on Avatar Kyoshi having a feeling his Avatar was controlling this, "(Y/N)...." He muttered gripping his weapon, which gained Suki's wide eyes on him.

Kyoshi now began to move her arms around in a circle, that slowly created a typhoon of air surrounding her that went up, and she brought up a spiral of water that traveled around the growing funnel of power. She used the water to grab onto a few of the soldiers who screamed in fear, and she brought them into the bending also.

Flames of fire appeared from her hands sending it into the funnel, as she began to control all four elements along with the soldiers stuck in the whirlwind. Her arms move around in a circle making the elements move with her will, as everyone gaps in amazement at the display from the eartbender Avatar.

This went on for a few more seconds till Kyoshi thrusted her arms out, sending all the soldiers flying away from the whirlwind and slamming into parts from the village roughly. Her power also disappeared also behind her, as she exhaled heavily staring ahead with a calm, but furious expression, eyes still glowing bright.

"Pull back." Commander Zhao muttered to himself realising they couldn't win this, wide eyes staring fearfully into Kyoshi's glaring ones, "Back to the ship!" He yelled louder, waving his arm around to grab the attention of his soldiers who were mostly injured, or on the brink of being unconscious.

Kyoshi's head the snapped straight up, as suddenly a bright light full of faded colours shot out from her causing all the soldiers to clamor and stumble to stand up, and began to flee away from the scene with their life's. A sphere of light was circling around Kyoshi, as a wind storm was picking up again making lose pieces in the village fly around in result.

Something or other someone for some reason had manged to push Sokka up from the floor, him now moving a bit close to where the light show was going on. Katara and Aang were also right behind him, all of them sharing looks with each other before they turned back Kyoshi.

The light and wind gust continuing to go on, until the figure of Kyoshi was replaced with (Y/N)'s one, who's eyes and tattoos glow a bright blue colour. That was until her eyes fluttered closed, causing the power to fade away and her glowing to disappear right afterwards, before her body began to sway a bit.

"(Y/N)!" Sokka was immediately running towards the girl, sliding down to his knees as he caught her figure before she fell harshly onto the floor. He cradled her against his chest, her laying mostly on his lap as he brushed her sweaty hair out of her face, while Aang, Katara, and the others came rushing up to them also.

Aang drops down on her other side clasping her hand in his tightly, wide eyes glazing over her figure worriedly as she shared a concerned look with Katara, before turning to Sokka who looked way more stressed then the two combined did, as he coaxed her to wake up by cupping her cheek gently.

Her eyelashes flutter a bit when Sokka trailed his fingertips down her cheek, a groan leaving her as she soon opened her (E/C) eyes. Her gaze instantly locked with his dark one, his face visible relaxing when she smiled a bit cheekily at him, "We have to stop meeting like this, water boy."

He rolled his eyes with a fond head shake, adjusting her so she sat up on his thigh instead so she could see him and the others better, "Even at a time like this, you're making jokes." He muttered with a playful scoff, his hand being placed behind her neck softly, "I shouldn't be surprised, that's so like you."

She grinned brightly to him in response, fingers brushing off the dirt and dust on his cheek as they lingered there for a few seconds, staring into each others eyes. Beside Katara who was helping a relieved Aang up, was Suki watching the couple on the floor with a soft smile, already having a feeling their hearts were each others, even if neither of them knew it yet.

Sokka eventually helped (Y/N) up from the dirt by grabbing under her arms, and held onto her shoulder comforting as the rest of the villagers pile in to hear what she had to say. Her sadden gaze falls upon the badly damaged village, heart clenching knowing she was the one whom brought trouble to them.

"This is all my fault." She spoke through a shaky sigh, licking her bottom lip out of nerves as her gaze landed on Yukari, noticing how she was looking at her like she wasn't the enemy, "I brough this here, and I'm so sorry for that."

"Which is why you have to go." Suki was the one who talked instead of her mother, and walked up to the confused (Y/N) who was seeing Suki for the first time without makeup which had her cheeks heating a bit, "Now. They want the Avatar, not us."

Yukari nodded in agreement with her daughter, a kind smile across her mouth looking at (Y/N) who radiated the guilty emotion, "There's nothing here that we've lost that can't be replaced," She reassured firmly to lift the girls spirits up, "and you've given up something far more valuable in return. A reason to believe again. In our village, in ourselves... and in the Avatar."

Her (E/C) eyes watery a bit feeling nothing but gratitude and happiness hearing Yukari's words, a wide smile on her lips when the older lady went to bow in respect, which made the rest of the village follow behind, all bowing to show their thanks to the Avatar. She felt a squeeze to her shoulder making her turn to see Sokka smiling, along with Katara and Aang, the support she needs.

The girl then bowed back to the villagers for a few seconds, before they all lifted their heads up. It was time for departure and getting their village rebuild and fixed up from the damage it endured. Aang jumped onto (Y/N)'s back now making her stumble forward a bit, but caught him with a airy chuckle, as the villagers gathered around them and Katara.

"I knew you could do it!" He cheered excitedly pressing his cheek against hers in a nuzzle, wrapping his arms around her shoulders as she held onto the back of his legs, and pressed her cheek into his more giggling.

"Yeah, good job Avatar." Katara joined in on the praising, a beaming grin across her mouth as she gently bumped her shoulder against (Y/N)'s, causing the trio to all laugh together and began to listen to the conversations between the villagers.

While this happened the Avatar moved her attention towards the corner of the yard, feeling her stomach twist with a horrible feeling spotting Sokka and Suki talking to each other. It made her clench her fingers into Aang's pants, and set a frown creasing her forehead. She didn't understand what was happening, and tried her hardest to shake the feeling off.

Trying to ignore to two of them talking, she looked up to Aang from the corner of her eye, "Aang, you probably should call Appa to come get us." She remined in a soft tone, doing very well at hiding her feelings by keeping them locked inside and especially on her face.

His face lit up in realisation, and quickly hopped down from her back fumbling to grab the whistle he had, "You're right! I'll do that right now-" He speaks between trying to fish out the necklace holding the whistle, as he walked back over to Katara talking with some Kyoshi warriors leaving (Y/N) standing there alone.

An exhausted sigh escaped the girls lips, lifting a hand up to place it onto her shoulder, and rolled it a bit feeling how sore her muscles were from everything she's recently done. She was so focused in her own little world, that she didn't hear the incoming footsteps coming up to where she was.

"I don't think words can explain how thankful I am." A familiar female's voice suddenly flows through her ears, making (Y/N) squeal in surprise and snap her head up to see a smiling Suki standing there, holding onto one of her fan weapons, "I truly am. For everything you've done for me and my village today."

She made an embarrassed sound not use to praising from someone else, and scratched the side of her head awkwardly, "You really don't need to thank me-" She stumbles out avoiding eye contact, already knowing Kyoshi was laughing at her through their connection, "It's my job to protect the people of this world. And also you guys showed kindness to my friends, it's the least I could do."

Suki chuckled a bit at her reaction, eyes fond glazing over the flustered figure of (Y/N) who was only an inch taller then her, "Sokka's a pretty lucky guy to have found you." She comments with a smile, causing the girl to freak out even more, "But I wish we got more time, to actually get to know each other. Maybe next time we see each other-"

"There will be a next time, don't worry." (Y/N) was quick to interrupted the nervous warrior who flashed a shy smile, the girls hand reaching out to grasp Suki's tightly returning the look with a sweet grin, "You're my friend, even if we haven't known each other for very long."

Suki laced her fingers through the girls ones to squeeze her hand tightly, eyes flickering past her shoulder to see that Appa was now flying down to where the others had gathered, "We'll when we see each other again," She trailed off showing the girl her fan weapon, and handed it to her smirking gently, "you can give this back to me. But only when we meet."

(Y/N)'s heart was gonna burst from how warmed it felt, having never had someone wanting to actually be friends with her expect for Aang, her master and her new ones. She bit down on her bottom lip through a wide smile, reaching out to grasp the fan and held it close to her chest, "Okay, it's a deal. When we see each other again."

The two girls then met in the middle for a brief embrace, Suki place her head onto (Y/N)'s shoulder while the latter's one was on top of her's, arms around each others tightly. That was until Sokka yelling out the Avatar's name, making them break apart to see her group all on Appa waiting for her.

She glanced back to Suki seeing her nodding with a small smile at Appa, causing (Y/N) to send her a cheeky wink before she went over to her team, and used her airbending to shot herself right up into Appa's saddle, which had Sokka catching her figure. She snickered at his grumpy face, and pressed a kiss onto his cheek in thanks, causing his expression to change to a look of embarrassment making the other two laugh.

Appa began to lift up from the floor now that everyone was back on it, their supplies all filed up also as they were now setting off away from Kyoshi island. All the villagers yell their goodbyes, and waved frantically at their disappearing figures, watching them till they were no longer seem.

They got further and further away from the village now, and Appa set a steady flying pace. (Y/N) was sat in the saddle next to Aang showing him the fan she got given, both of them being amazed over the delicate weapon in her hands, very aware of how Sokka's dark eyes were trained on her the entire time.

Katara looked to her brother seeing the surprisingly soft look on his face gazing at (Y/N), and felt a teasing smirk spread across her face, as she already knew the answer to her question she was going to ask, "So this means you don't wanna go home anymore?"

Sokka knocked out of his trance on the other girl, his soft expression shifting into a smug one, "And let you guys have all the fun?" He replied with a smirk, as his eyes land on (Y/N)'s figure again, tone become gentle, "Besides, someone's gotta help sky girl with Aang. I have a feeling this could get tough for her. Zuko clearly isn't going to give up, and he's dangerous." His jaw clenches tightly thinking about the princes' name, and how he wanted the girl.

He then goes to gently tap (Y/N)'s leg which gained her attention, and she looked up from the fan in her palm as he now slipped up beside her, "Nifty trick you pulled back there, channeling scary lady." His voice rose a bit to be heard over the wind, "Does this mean we'll see more of her?"

She exhaled a bit heavily as she handed Aang the fan for now, and folded her arms over her chest, booted foot bumping against Sokka's one in the saddle, "Kyoshi said I can only call upon one of the past Avatars when I'm in their shrines."

"What else did she tell you?" Katara leaned forward more interested into the conversation now, and asked of the girl which caused Aang to glance up from fiddling with the fan, all of them both curious and worried to know.

(Y/N) pursed her lips remembering what Kyoshi said, and swallowed the lump in her throat, "We must get to the Northern water tribe because something terrible is going to happen there." She told them anxiously, brows furrowed together in thought, "Something only I can stop apparently."

Sokka sensing the change of atmosphere around them perked up, and gently nudged the side of her arm, "Alright, North it is, then." He summed up with a lopsided smile, causing her heart to suddenly flutter at the way he was looking at her, "We just gotta get there before the firebenders catch up to us."

"Waterbending masters there are the best in the world." Katara also spoke up to reassure the stressed girl, reaching out to grasp her hand to give her a soft squeeze, while Aang grasped her other one, "They can train you, if you want that."

"So don't worry, sky girl. You don't have to do this alone." Her head turned to Sokka when he felt his fingers lace with hers on the saddle, and he smiled charmingly at her, pointing at each person he said, "You have me, Katara, Aang, and a flying ball of fur. What more do you need?"

He spoke to soon because Momo's figure appears jumping off Appa, and landed on top of Sokka's head squeaking and cooing, as he peered down at him. The male deadpanned at the lemur, "Really?" He grumbled annoyed, feeling even more embarrassed when (Y/N) and the others began to laugh, "Feel like I walked into that one."
