suicide mission

Minho, very rudely, woke me up for running. This time it was me, him and Alby. He wanted to retrace Bens steps.

"Hey, guys." Newt limped over to us at the maze doors

"Blondie!" I squealed childishly.

"Please don't tell me you've giving my a nickname like you have with Minho."

"I have. You should be grateful not everyone has them."

"Yeah, dude. Welcome to the stupid nickname gang." Minho laughed.

"Bloody hell." Newt chuckled, "All three of you going today then?"

"Yeah, just to be safe. Take care of the glade please." Alby patted Newts shoulder.

"I'll try my best. Don't die, any of you." He eyed me.

"Why did you look at me when you said that?"

"Because you always get bloody hurt. Bye." He smirked before leaving again.

"I hate that boy."

"You don't mean that. Now let's go." Alby instructed and we all ran in. I was in front and Alby and Minho were behind forming a triangular shape.

Alby overtook after half an hour because I had no idea where we were going. Minho and I were arguing behind him but he stayed silent trying to focus.

"Just stop calling me that."

"What? Min Min? I thought you liked to be apart of the nickname gang."

"Well, I don't." Minho snarled.

"I don't care. I'm still calling you it."

"How are you and Gally?"

"Oh, not this again."

Minho chuckled, "Don't worry. It's not like last time. I genuinely just wanna know the gossip."

"Well, we are good. Y'know Minho I think you could be a ladies man if there were more girls in the glade."

"Really?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah, seriously."

"Does that mean you like me..?"

"Ewww, no."

"That's mean." Minho huffed.

"I didn't mean it like that." I laughed, "You're cool."

"Wait, are we actually getting along?"

"Finally.." Alby murmured from in front.

I had no idea how long we had been in the maze but it was definitely for far too long. the boys didn't seem to care that we could hear the maze begin to shift. Then, just to make things worse, Alby got stung on his chest. In the day, just like Ben. Minho knocked him out so he wouldn't go all crazy.

"Y/n, get your ass over here and help me carry him. We aren't leaving him." Minho beckoned me over. He got Alby off the floor and wrapped his arms around both of our shoulders. Alby was unconscious so it made it even more difficult for us to pull him along.

This reminded me of the first time I got hurt and Minho had to take me back to the glade. Now, it was different because Alby's quite a bit heavier than me and he can't even help us. We navigated our way through the maze back to the doors but when we went around the corner the doors were already closing. No way were we getting through. The Gladers shouted and screamed but I drowned them out, trying to focus on carrying the injured man. Then the shouts got louder and I looked up to see Thomas running through the small gap in between the doors.

Idiot.

I knew, I hoped, I'd seen Gally again so there was no point me stressing over that. All had to focus on was helping these boys survive a night in the maze. We dropped Alby to the floor and fell to our knees panting. Thomas rolled next to us.

"Good job. You just killed yourself." Minho wiped some of the sweat off his forehead.

Thomas looked at us confused before kneeling next to Alby who was still unconscious.

"What happened to him?"

"What does it look like?" I panted. "He got stung."

"What happened to his head?"

"I did what I had to do." Minho stated.

We could hear the grievers screeching and the maze shifting. Thomas looked confused and extremely terrified.

"Uh, okay, all right, help me get him up."

I stood up and so did Minho. Instead of doing what Thomas said I walked forward.

"We gotta go. The maze is already changing." I said.

"Hey, y/n! We can't just leave him here."

I turned around slowly to look at the three boys. I sighed before nodding and letting them pick him up. I walked in front leading them.

"Okay, so here we turn right.." I mumbled.

"How do you know the maze so well y/n?" Thomas asked.

"Experience. Believe it or not, T, I've been in here over night. This dumb maze gives me nightmares."

"You've survived a night in the maze?"

"Yup." I answered popping the 'p'.

"How?"

"By running."

We came to an intersection and the boys stopped behind me.

"Okay, just sit him down. Sit him down." Minho instructed and they rested Alby against the wall.

The grievers screeched and we all looked in the direction the noise came from.

"This isn't going to work. We gotta go. We gotta go."

"What do you mean? We have to do something we have to hide him!" Thomas said as I paced back and forth in front of them.

"Where?" Minho asked.

"I don't know. Guys, just think. There's not a single place we can take him?"

I whipped round in anger and shoved Thomas to the wall by his shirt collar.

"Listen to me, shuck face, all right? Take a look around. There's no where to go." I spat.

Minho walked up to me and slowly moved me away before speaking.

"She's right. You don't get it. We're already dead."

"I never said that. We can get out of here." I told him.

"Really? Are you sure about that? Because I'm not so sure!" Minho raised an eyebrow.

Thomas ignored our bickering and stood up and looked at a vine covered wall. We faced him and realised what he was thinking.

I picked Alby up and wrapped him in vines and then we all started to pull him up so he was hidden. I stopped when I saw something move around the corner.

"What are you doing? Y/n! What are you doing?" Thomas tried to get my attention.

"Griever." I said bluntly.

"We gotta go." Minho hurried.

"No, just a little more. Minho, come on!"

"I'm sorry." He whispered before letting go and running away.

"MINHO! YOU SHANK!" I shouted.

The griever began to make its way towards us and I shoved Thomas under the wall behind the vines so we were hidden. He panted loudly and I clapped my hand over his mouth to keep him quiet. We watched the grievers metal legs grip the floor and walk past us.

Thomas got out and tied the vine holding Alby to another.

"Come on." I pushed him round the corner once he was done.

I heard the griever leave so I peered round the corner to check we were good before stepping out. Thomas followed me and looked up and at Alby.

"I shucking hate this place." I murmured.

We stumbled round a few corners until Thomas stopped abruptly.

"What's up?"

He didn't reply and just lifted up his foot. He had stood in griever goo and it was sticking to his feet. I immediately looked up knowing the only reason the goo would be there.

"Thomas." I smacked his arm and then more slime slid down onto his shoulder. The griever finally came into view and I jumped backwards.

I pulled Thomas with me the first few steps until we got into the rhythm of running. The grievers legs clicked and clanged behind us as we ran randomly through the maze. Another one jumped out and we both screamed before hurrying around another corner. We came to a dead end.

"Oh, shuck!" I said through gritted teeth while looking for a way out.

The grievers made their way closer and I tapped Thomas' shoulder telling him to follow me. I ran to the side and jumped on a rock to cling on some vines. Thomas appeared next to me and we climbed over the top, the grievers still close behind. We jumped over the gaps in the walls until we came to an edge. Thomas sway back and forth trying to catch his balance and I grabbed him, helping him.

We turned to run back the way we came but the grievers appeared, one higher up and one straight ahead. Thomas disappeared from my side and I watched him jump across to the vines. I inhaled sharply before following. I screamed loudly as I fell to my death but then I felt a hand pull me up so I could grip onto the vines.

I smiled at Thomas quickly before one of the grievers jumped and landed over us. It's stinger stabbed at us, missing every time. We slid further down the vine, leaving the griever above us. It attempted to get back but in doing so it pulled all the vines down and we landed on the floor roughly.

Thomas and I scurried up and left the tangled up griever behind. Someone grabbed me and pulled me into a hug. Minho.

"Oh my god." I whispered. "You scared me."

"Crazy shanks!" He swore at us.

I went to say something but was interrupted when the griever got free.

"Come on, follow me." I instructed and ran in front of them. "Okay, it's changing. Come on!" We turned a corner. "This sections closing. We can lose it down here."

Minho and I ran ahead but Thomas stopped to stare at the closing walls.

"I'll be right back." I patted Minho's back before running back to Thomas.

There was two grievers are either side of us. One of them was heading straight towards and Thomas was taunting it. I sighed before grabbing the knife Chuck had made from me out of my pocket. I yelled while running at the creature. When I was close enough I jumped and sliced the griever right down it's chest. It fell to the ground dead, leaving its metal insides to fall out.

"Come on!" Thomas shouted. I ran quickly over, the other griever now following behind.

The sections doors were every close together and we led it through them. Minho shouted at us to hurry and we did just that. By the time we reached the other side the monster was stuck in between the doors, dead.

Thomas rolled onto the floor and I fell to my knees panting. Minho chuckled when he realised what he had just done. We had just killed two grievers.

"We need to get back. Let's go." I helped Thomas up and we ran off back to the glade.

Minho and Thomas got Alby down while I tried to remember the way back. We walked the rest of the way, as we were too tired to run. By the time we reached the glade the doors were wide opened.

The gladers ran over to us as the boys dropped Alby to the ground. I fell into my back exhausted and closed my eyes while everyone else fussed over the others.

"You saw a griever?" Chuck asked and I stretched my arms and legs out in a star fish position.

"Yeah, I saw one." Thomas answered.

Minho shook his head, "He didn't just see it. He killed it."

"Ahem." I fake coughed with my eyes still shut and everyone looked at me. "I killed one as well. With a knife. So, technically, we both killed but whatever."

Everyone chuckled before Jeff and Clint took Alby to the med-jack hut. Gally helped me up and immediately pulled me into a tight hug.

"I'm so happy you're okay." He mumbled.

"I know. I know." I looked up at him and placed a kiss on his lips.

"Everyone meeting room, NOW!" He shouted and I was slightly startled at the sudden loud noise.

I pulled away from the hug and stumbled away with the rest of the gladers. Newt stopped me before I entered.

"Goldie!"

"Good to know your okay." He smiled and patted my head before shoving me inside gently.
