I slowly lowered my self to the floor again.

"Are you okay?" Gally crouched next to me and rubbed my back but I shoved him away.

"I'm still mad. Just because you comforted me doesn't me I'm not mad anymore." I stood up and so did he.

"I know. Do- do you still love me?" He grew quiet.

"Wh- yes, of course. Arguments happen. I'm off to go to talk to Alby. Can we chat later?"

"Erm- yeah sure.." Gally replied shyly as I ran off.

Thomas, Alby and Chuck were sat in a hut when I reached them. They all looked miserable.

"What happened to him?" Thomas asked.

"It's called the changing." I answered before sitting between him and Chuck. "It's what happens when you get stung."

"Listen. We haven't been able to get at least one word out of Ben since it happened. You know, he's not making any sense. And it's only going to get worse." Alby sighed, "the infection is spreading. He's dangerous. What did he say to you both?"

"Um- he said he saw us and that this is all our fault. How could this be our fault?" Thomas motioned at me and him.

"All right. Get some rest." Alby patted his back and began to walk away.

"What Alby- What's going to happen to him?"

"He's going to get banished." He said bluntly and walked off.

"What? No! You can't- Shuck." I stood up and ran after him leaving a very confused Thomas behind.

"What now, y/n?" Alby groaned.

"You c-cant banish him. You didn't banish me. It's too soon." I spoke fast.

"I'm sorry y/n we have to. It's going to happen tomorrow."

"What about the- erm.. the blue liquid! What if the creators send some up for him?"

"We'll wait until tomorrow now go get some sleep."

"N-no.. ugh." I rolled my eyes and walked back to my room where Gally was waiting for me.

"I don't want to talk right now." I held a hand up to his face.

"Can I at least sleep here?"

"I- Sure whatever."

"What's wrong?" He asked as we got into bed.

"Alby's banishing Ben."

"Good."

"What do you mean good?!"

"He's dangerous. I know you and him were close but he's been stung y/n. He could hurt any of us. He hurt you!"

"Did you think that when I was stung? No, you didn't. You left me strapped to a bed for days until that blue liquid came up and I was healed. Why can't we do that with Ben?"

"Because what if they don't send any more up? Then he just gets angrier and more dangerous by the day."

"I just don't want to loose him." I rested my head on Gally's chest.

"I know, I know. But sometimes you gotta make sacrifices."

He began to stroke my hair and minutes later I was asleep.

"Y/n stay here. Chuck, please keep her here." Gally instructed the little boy.

"Yes sir" he saluted.

The gladers had poles and were formed in a semi circle leaving an opening to the maze doors. Alby and Newt stood at the front and parted so Minho could shove Ben in.

Ben looked horrible, I must have looked like that. My heart shattered every time he called out for someone. There was still a small fraction of human left in him but no one would let me help. Chuck held my hand to keep me from running over to him. Thomas ran up beside me and stared with us.

"No, no, please. Please don't. Please don't do it." Ben cried as Minho threw a bag of supplies into the maze.

The maze began to rumble and the wind came rushing threw, the doors were about to begin closing. Thomas took a step forward but I grabbed his wrist telling him to stay back.

"POLES!" Alby shouted and everyone moved there poles so they were sticking out at Ben.

I felt Chuck let go of my hand and I looked back to see him walking away. I would have too but I just couldn't.

Ben finally stood up and swayed back and forth. The boys moved in more and he began to cry again.

"NO! No! Please! Y/n, please!" He looked me dead in the eye and a tear rolled down my cheek.

Gally looked behind at me but kept moving in and I gave him a weak smile. Ben began to push on the end of the poles, attempting to escape but it was no use.

"No, I can get better! Please! Just listen to me!"

The doors started to close and Alby instructed them to push him in. He stumbled through to the other side and picked the bag up. I walked forward slightly to catch the last glimpse of his face threw the small gap.

"NOOOOO!" He was slowly drained out and I fell to my knees at the doors while everyone watched me have a breakdown.

Newt grabbed my arm and pulled me into a hug which Frypan then joined.

"I'm sorry y/n." He whispered.

"We know you were close." Newt mumbled.

I pulled away and attempted to smile but it was useless. I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist and Gally was looking down at me with a sad look.

He pulled me into a tight hug. This was where I wanted to be forever. In his arms, safe. Gally pecked my forehead before putting a finger under my chin and making me look at him.

"I love you."

"I love you too.." I stuttered and wiped my eyes.

One by one the Gladers went back to their jobs leaving me, Gally and Thomas.

"How?"

"How what?" He chuckled.

"How did I get so lucky with you? I mean, yeah, we have our bad moments and you have outbursts of anger but I still love you. I just don't understand how I got so lucky."

"You think you got lucky? If anything I did. You're the only girl who's come up and somehow you fell in love with me. ME, for gods sake." Gally pecked my head. "I should go."

"Oh, yeah, go." I rubbed his back before he left.

I turned around to see Thomas staring at me.

"What you staring at greenie?" I spat.

I crossed Bens name out and cried in the process. People had been banished and killed before but his death hurt the most. I went to sleep that night with Gally beside me.

"Y/n! Another boy is being put in! You need to prepare him!" The woman screamed.

"What? Why me?"

"Because it's your job! Now go!"

"But mu-"

"Y/N!"

Another girl stood by the woman's side. She was wearing a lab coat and had black hair.

"Oh my lord, fine. What's his name?" I asked ignoring the girls entrance.

"He is someone you are quite close with."

"Newt? Ben?"

"No they were put in ages ago. Gally."

"Wha- Gally? No mum you can't! Not Gally, anyone but Gally!"

"Gally is going in end of discussion." The women held her hand up to my face and ushered me away before turning to the girl beside her.

I did what I was told. Gally didn't remember me when I was getting him prepared. He thought I was just a normal worker but I wasn't. I was his girlfriend.

"Y/n?" The ginger spoke as I walked into the room. The girl was in there as well.

"Yeah, I did it." I mumbled.

"Good. Now I need to do more test."

The woman sat me on a dentist chair in the middle of the room. One of the ones that can move up and down. The girl, I learned her name was Teresa, pulled out a massive syringe, like last time, but the only difference was I was about 14 not 7. I tried to get up and leave but two guards held me down. The woman, my mum, took the syringe and push in the liquid. The pain was the same but I seemed used to it.

"Remember, y/n, wicked is good."

They finally let me go but when I walked into the office where all the cameras of the glade were I saw Gally crying and screaming, loudly, very loudly. It broke my heart to not comfort him.

I jolted up in my bed and put a hand over my mouth to stop me from waking everyone else up. But clearly I woke someone because I felt Gally's arms pull me down into a hug.

"Another nightmare?" He asked quietly.

"Yeah. It wasn't scary. It was just strange." I shuddered.

"Mhm. Well, don't think to much about it."

I couldn't get back to sleep and I figured neither could he.

"Do you think we rushed things? I mean, we had only just met and a few days later we were boyfriend and girlfriend."

"Yeah, maybe. But it was a good choice, right?" He took my hand and began to slowly rub his thumb over it.

"Yes. It definitely was." I smiled to myself as I thought about mine and Gally's memories.
