EXHAUSTION FILLED SHAY'S BODY AS SHE PARKED HER CAR outside of Jax's house ββ well more like Wendy's house now since Jax decided to move into the Samcro's clubhouse since their divorce. It was an inconvenience to Shay for her to check up on Jax's junkie ex wife, but she had given the Prince of Charming her word, and even though she could feel a headache forming at her temples at the mere thought of putting up with Wendy's bullshit ββ Shay would keep her word to Jax.
The raven haired Miller woman let out a soft sigh as Gemma Teller-Morrow's black Cadillac pulled up behind her car ββ the Samcro Queen's sunglasses covered face held a scowl on it as she exited her large SUV. Shay was well aware of Gemma's disdain for Wendy Case, and she was sure Gemma was just as pleased to be here as she was.
"Hey, baby." Gemma smiled as she placed a kiss on the mother of her granddaughters cheek. "Jax rope you into this bullshit too?" She asked with a scoff while tossing her half finished cigarette to the ground, stepping on it with her heeled boot.
"I wouldn't necessarily say he roped me into it." Shay said with a shrug. It was the truth. Jax hadn't roped her into anything. He had asked and she agreed when she easily could of said no. "When's the last time you saw Wendy?" The Miller woman questioned Gemma as her blue eyes looked over at the house.
"Few weeks." Gemma said while placing her sunglasses on top of her head. "I gotta keep an eye on the junkie bitch. I gotta make sure she's taking care of my grandson." The older brunette said with a smile as she thought about the baby that was growing in Wendy's stomach. Granted, finding out that Wendy was carrying Jax's son was almost enough to give Gemma a heart attack, but the Samcro Queen couldn't wait for Abel to enter the world. If there was one thing that Gemma Teller-Morrow loved more than her son it was being a grandma.
"I never had to worry about any of that shit with you. Jax knew what he was doing when he was with you." Gemma added as the two women made their way towards the front door.
Shay held her tongue back from telling Gemma that Jax was never really with her so to speak. They were never a couple ββ Shay didn't have his crow nor did Jax ever ask her to ink her skin with his crow. They were just best friends who fucked around and their daughter was born due to their carelessness ββ not that Shay or Jax regretted that, but Shay wasn't stupid enough to think there was ever anything more to their relationship, and the Miller woman was completely fine with that.
"And she was doing okay?" The Miller woman questioned. She didn't understand her sudden interest in Wendy's well-being ββ though that probably had more to do with Jax's unborn son and Leela's brother than Wendy's. Shay knew Wendy wasn't fit to be a mother. Sure, the woman was clean now ββ at least she claimed she was, but Shay knew it was only a matter of time before the Case woman relapsed. A sad fact that made Shay realize that Gemma and herself would probably help Jax raise Abel.
"She looked okay, but you can never tell with junkies." Gemma said before she began to knock loudly on the front door. "Wendy!" The older brunette called out to her ex daughter in law. "You see anything in there?" Gemma asked Shay as she continued to knock on the door.
Shay tried her best to get a peek into the house through the windows, she could make nothing out clearly but a pile of mess on the floor. "Nothing but a mess." Shay said as she removed her blue eyes from the window.
"Stupid fucking junkie." Gemma muttered as she pulled her phone from her purse.
A sigh fell from Shay's lips as she crossed her arms across her chest. She knew this had been a bad idea when she agreed to it, but the anxious feeling that was growing in the pit of her stomach was starting to make her feel nauseous.
"I'm gonna go check around the back." Shay said not waiting for Gemma to respond back before hurrying off towards the back of the house.
Shay knew Jax's house better than she knew the back of her hand most days, and she knew Wendy's inconsistencies when it came to locking up the house. The Miller woman knew the back door was most likely her best bet at getting inside.
"Wendy!" Shay called out with her hand wrapped around the doorknob. "Wendy, it's Shay." The raven hair Miller woman announced ββ a sigh of relief falling from her lips as the door easily opened.
The relief that had taken over her body a minute ago suddenly disappeared as fear filled every fiber of her being. Shay's blue eyes were wide in shock as she stood staring at Wendy's unconscious body laying on the kitchen floor with blood pooling around her thighs.
"Gemma!" Shay yelled as she ran towards the front door ββ grabbing her phone from the pocket of her jeans in the process. The Miller woman quickly locked the front door and flung it open to allow Gemma inside. "She's fucking passed out and bleeding." She quickly rambled to the matriarch.
"Stupid fucking junkie." Gemma seethed as she rushed towards Wendy ββ her phone cradled against her ear as she leaned down to check on the Case woman.
Shay watched from the sidelines as paramedics swiftly loaded Wendy into an ambulance ββ the look on their faces grim. It didn't look good for Wendy, and it especially didn't look good for Abel. Shay could feel her heart breaking at the thought of Abel never getting a chance to make it to this world because of the terrible decisions of his mother. Shay prayed God wouldn't be that cruel, but then again He had let her down before.

SHAY SAT IN THE WAITING ROOM OF ST. THOMAS with Gemma next to her, a now cold cup of coffee sat in her hands as she bounced her leg up and down ββ a nervous habit that reared it's ugly head at moments like this. Hours had passed since Wendy had been brought in yet it felt like days to Shay, and to make matters worse they had gotten no update on Wendy ββ or more importantly Abel.
"Mom!"
The sound of Jax's heartbroken voice pulled Shay from her thoughts. The raven haired woman blue eyes snapped up from the hospital floor and onto the sorrow stricken face of Jax.
"What the fuck happened?" Jax questioned, his ocean blue eyes darting back and forth between Gemma and Shay.
"The fucking junkie overdosed." Gemma spat as she pulled Jax into a tight embrace. "Shay found her passed out on the kitchen floor ββ bleeding." Gemma spoke softly.
"Who the fuck sells crank to a pregnant woman?" Bobby questioned aloud.
The same question had ran through Shay's mind as well. She especially wanted to know who would sell crank to Jax Teller's pregnant ex wife ββ someone with a death wish is the only logical answer she could come up with.
"It's gotta be fucking Darby." Clay spoke as he ran a hand over his face.
The sound of someone clearing their throat immediately put an end to all talks of Darby. Shay's eyes landed on Tara Knowles standing there in blue scrubs, the doctors eyes looking around the small group that had gathered in the waiting room.
"Can I talk to you, Jax?" The Knowles woman questioned as she eyed Gemma and Shay. "It's about Abel." She added, focusing her eyes back onto Jax.
"Pretty sure you can say it in front of all of us, doc." Gemma scoffed while crossing her arms across her chest. "We're all family here."
"We're not doing this now, Mom." Jax stressed as he quickly walked off with the doctor ββ the former couple going somewhere more private.
"I don't know who's worse the doctor bitch or the junkie bitch." Gemma scoffed before following after Jax and Tara.
A tired sigh left Shay's mouth as she made her way back to the uncomfortable waiting room chair. The Miller woman prayed that whatever news Tara was giving Jax right now was at least hopeful.
"Hi, sweetheart." Bobby smiled as he sat down next to the Miller woman, his voice pulling Shay from her thoughts. "How's the little princess?"
"Hi, Bobby." Shay gave the older man a small smile. She had always been fond of the Elvis impersonator with a niche for cooking. "She's good." The raven hair woman smiled.
"Follow him!" Clay's voice suddenly ordered as Jax walked passed Shay and Bobby with a look of fury written across his face.
Shay had an idea of where Jax was going. Of course she didn't blame him for it either, but she did worry about where his head was at right now.
"Bobby, please watch out for him." Shay asked the older man as he practically jumped up from the chair.
"Of course, sweetheart." Bobby promised with a smile before following after Chibs and Jax.
The Miller woman rested her head against the palm of her hand as yet another sigh fell from her lips. She hated the waiting game ββ waiting for find out if Abel was going to be okay, waiting to find out what incredibly impulsive decision or decisions Jax was on his way to do right now. Shay had never been a fan of waiting and today was not about to change that.
"Everything is going to be okay, baby." Gemma assured Shay as she sat back down next to her, placing a hand on her knee.
The Miller woman wasn't sure who Gemma was trying harder to convince herself or Shay.
"I hope so."
