DAYS HAD PASSED SINCE DONNA'S MURDER, Shay had been staying at Jax's house since that night. She couldn't find it in herself to leave the comforts of Jax's home or his bed. Hell, she couldn't even find it in herself to be a mom to Leela properly at the moment. Every day was exhausting for her and just the thought of leaving the bed she had claimed as her own sent her already exhausted body and mind into overdrive.

Gemma had taken over watching both Leela and Abel when Jax couldn't, while Natalie and Kozik had postponed going back to Tacoma until after Donna's funeral, the older Miller sister hoping her extend presence in Charming would help her grieving younger sister but, she along with so many others who had tried to talk to woman was met with silence or incoherent noises.

Shay felt useless. It was as simple as that. She couldn't be a mother right now, she couldn't be a friend, and she sure as fuck couldn't have saved Donna. It ate away at her knowing that she should have just gone with Donna to get the ice. The guilt that wracked through her body was fierce and unforgiving. Maybe if she had gone to get the ice instead of Donna none of this would of happened. Maybe Donna would still be alive to keep being an amazing mother to Kenny and Ellie, and a loving wife to Opie.

The thought of Kenny and Ellie growing up without Donna made Shay's heart sink, and Opie going on without Donna by his side. It made the guilt even larger knowing she hadn't gone to see the Winston family since the night of Donna's murder. She wanted to be there for them but how could she when she couldn't even be there for Leela or herself.

A long sigh escaped Shay's lips as she ran a hand through her tangled dark hair, her watery blue eyes staring at the ceiling. She reached over with her free hand to the nightstand, feeling for her phone. No doubt in her mind there were missed calls and texts from Ben. It hadn't been fair that Ben had to deal with her grief this way either. She had been unfair to him, not talking to him or even acknowledging his presence after he broke the news of Donna's death but, grief was a bitch and this was the way Shay had chosen to deal with hers.

Three missed calls, two voicemails, and one text message stared annoying at Shay as though taunting her, demanding her to answer or at least listen to the voicemails that no doubt contained Ben's sad and worried voice. She quickly put the phone back, if she couldn't deal with her emotions there was no fucking way she could deal with Ben's as shitty as it sounded.

Another sigh left her lips as she gathered up the energy to sit up in the bed, tossing back the blanket from her body before running a hand through her hair and exiting the comfort of Jax's quiet bedroom.

"Morning." Shay mumbled to Gemma as she walked into the kitchen, heading straight for the freshly brewed coffee.

Gemma looked up from the paper she was reading, a cigarette hanging from her mouth as she stared at the Miller woman with slight shock on her features. It had been days since Shay had spoke anything coherent to anyone, locking herself in Jax's bedroom and sobbing throughout the day and night. The matriarch understood that Shay was grieving but, she needed to get it together and start being a mother to Leela again.

"Morning sweetie." Gemma smiled. "I made some eggs and bacon." She offered as she eyed the large plate of food behind Shay.

Shay brought the steaming cup of coffee up to her lips, eyeing the plate of food for a moment before shaking her head. "No, thanks. I'm fine with just coffee." The thought of eating anything made her stomach churn.

A sigh of disapproval came from Gemma's lips as she shook her head at the young dark haired woman. "You can't just keep living off of coffee." She commented before closing the paper she was reading, placing it down on the table.

"Pretty sure women in the eighties lived off of just coffee." Shay quipped, raising her eyebrow slightly at the older woman.

"Smart ass." Gemma muttered. "Did Jax tell you the ATF bitch tried to offer her condolences." Gemma scoffed while putting out her cigarette.

Shay shook her head as she leaned against the counter though she couldn't actually be sure if Jax had told her or not. She hadn't been listening to much of anything anyone was saying the past couple of days. The days had all blurred together for her and for all she knew they could of had a full blown conversation about it and she had just forgotten about it.

"I figured he didn't." Gemma shook her head. "She's a real dumb bitch. I'm surprised she showed her smug face around here again." Gemma let out a humorless laugh as she stood up from the table.

"Yeah." Shay nodded.

A rage bubbled up inside in Shay, a deep burning rage. How could that woman come around and offer her condolences like anyone had wanted to hear them, like her words cared. Shay knew deep down that June Stahl was the reason Donna was dead. If Shay were to ever see June Stahl again she wouldn't be as nice as she has been before. No, that woman would meet a different Shay Miller β€” a scarier one, a violent one.

"I gotta get a few things from the store." Shay announced as she placed her now half drunken coffee cup into the sink. "Do you need anything?" She asked.

Gemma shook her head, a soft smile forming on her face. She was happy that Shay was finally leaving the house. It would do her some good. "I'm good baby."

Shay nodded, giving Gemma a small smile before heading back towards Jax's room to shower and change into some fresh clothes before leaving.

SHAY HAD JUST FINISHED PAYING FOR HER GROCERIES ready to head back to Jax's and put everything away when a voice stopped her in her tracks.

"Shay."

She shook her head, her back facing the voice as she ignored the voice and continued to put her groceries into the truck of her car. Shay knew if she turned around it would be bad, her rage would spill over.

"I just want to say one thing and then I'll leave you alone." June Stahl's voice pleaded as she watched Shay grow tense with each movement she made.

Shay slammed the truck to her car and quickly whipped around to face the usually smug woman. Her blue eyes narrowed at the woman as she kept her arms stiffly down at her sides, her hands balled up into tight fists.

"What the fuck could you possibly have to say?" Shay seethed. "You're lucky I'm not pounding your face with my fist right now." A humorless laugh left her throat as she stared at the not so smug June Stahl. If anything she looked scared and defeated.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean for any of this to happen." June stammered as she stared at the raging Miller woman. "Donna's death,"

"Don't you fucking say her name." Shay warned as she took a step towards the woman. "You don't get to fucking say her name." Shay pointed a finger in June's face as venom fell from each word she spoke.

June nodded as her jaw opened slightly with shock. She had heard and read about Shay Miller's temper, but reading and hearing were much different than seeing it up close and personal.

"The club,"

That was it. Shay had enough of June Stahl and her loud mouth she quickly brought a fist up, connecting with the woman's nose, a satisfying loud crunch noise met Shay's ear as she watch the blood pour from the ATF agents nose.

"Jesus Christ. Ma'am, are you alright?" A concernedΒ  shopper questioned as they rushed over towards June's side.

June brushed off the strangers comforting hand, nodding her head as blood poured from her face. "I'm fine." Her voice was muffled due to the blood and her hands covering her face.

"Ma'am, you're not okay. I think your nose is broken. I'll call the police. I saw the whole thing." The woman rushed out as she grabbed her phone, placing it to her ear.

"No." June argued but it was too late the woman was already speaking into her phone.

Shay stood there with a smirk on her face watching the woman call the police, not a care in the world. She knew Unser would use his status to keep her from seeing the inside of a holding cell.

"I'm not going to press charges." June assured.

Shay shrugged. She didn't give a fuck if the bitch did or not. It had felt great to break the woman's nose and she would do it again and again if she could.

The sounds of sirens entered Shay's ears as she leaned calmly against her car with her arms across her chest, waiting for whatever was about to happen.

THE HOLDING CELL WAS QUIET, only Shay laid on the hard metal bed passing time as she waited for someone to show up and bail her out.

Unfortunately for her it wasn't Wayne Unser to arrive on the scene it had been David Hale and Ben. Both men shocked to see the damage she had done to June's face β€” well David not so much, but Ben certainly was.

June had informed both men that she didn't want to press charges, that it had all been a misunderstanding and while Hale was reluctant but willing to let Shay go with a warning it was Ben who slapped the handcuffs on Shay's wrist, claiming it was for her own good to calm down for a few hours.

"Hey."

Shay turned her head at the sound of David's voice. She gave him a nod while sitting up on the metal bed β€” if bed was what you could even call it.

"Didn't think you'd be paying me a visit." Shay teased as she watched Hale enter the cell with his hands on his hips.

Shay never had a problem with Charming's own captain America. They had been friendly enough during high school and remained on friendly terms even now. Could he be annoying, yes, but he was a decent guy who really wanted what was best for Charming. Granted, like most he went about it the wrong way.

"I didn't think you'd be breaking an ATF agents nose today." David countered, a slight smile on his face as he sat down next to Shay.

"We all have our bad days." Shay shrugged, scratching at her forehead.

"Guess so." Hale nodded as silence took over the cell. "You know why he did this right?" David questioned after a moment.

Shay pursed her lips while shaking her head. She had an idea but none that seemed good enough to her.

"He loves you." David spoke with a sigh. "Ben is completely in love with you and he doesn't want anything to happen to you because of SAMCRO."

A bitter laugh left Shay's mouth. "Throwing me in a cell really says 'I love you.' Stahl wasn't pressing charges he shouldn't have thought with his emotions and arrested me, and now where is he? He sends you in here to talk to me. It's bullshit, Hale." Her voice was full of different emotions as she stared at Hale.

A sigh left Hale's lips. "Natalie and your dad are here. You can leave." He spoke before standing up, walking over towards the door to let the Miller woman out.

"Thanks." She muttered before exiting the cell, walking into the front of the police station where Natalie and her dad were waiting for her.

"Are you okay?" Caleb questioned his daughter as he pulled his youngest daughter into a tight hug.

"Yeah." Shay nodded. "I just want to go home." She gave her dad a reassuring smile.

Caleb nodded, leading his two daughters out of Charming's police station. A sigh left Shay's lips as she made eye contact with Ben as he leaned against his cop vehicle, his hurt eyes never leaving Shay's face.

She shook her head more than ready for this day to be over with. Maybe leaving Jax's house had been a bad idea all along.
