MAY,1980
The Order of The Pheonix was comprised of skilled witches and wizards to fight against Voldemort and his death eaters. They were specifically recruited and trained under skilled aurors to fight dark arts.
Alastor Moody along with a few Order members didn't look happy at the mention of the Order. It was a secret society, and secrets weren't supposed to be disclosed, but this movie seemed to be doing a good job of it.
Catalina rolls her eyes at them. They thought a foolish girl got a bunch of random people in a room to watch the future, but they were wrong. She had handpicked all of them. She didn't get anyone who didn't deserve redemption.
Some were recruited right after Hogwarts, while some were recruited due to their abilities. It was a secretive society, and meetings were very rare to avoid any kind of inconvenience.
They had secured a mole in the dark lord's army to get information and avoid attacks when they occurred. It wasn't always effective, but they had managed to save many people by knowing beforehand where the death eaters would be attacking.
But since the beginning of the year 1980, the death eaters had gained momentum and had started attacking by spite. They were no longer trying to stay hidden.
The attack in Diagon Alley is widely remembered. After all, the Order lost four great wizards that day.
Gasps and murmurs. James' eyes snapped onto his parents. He knew, he knew that his parents disappeared every night after he slept and that his dad was pulling odd hours at work for Dumbledore. He was scared. His parents were very skilled and the fact that they could be a part of that attack sent shivers down his spine.
Men and women in black cloaks and masks were at every nook and corner in Diagon Alley. They were terrorizing shop owners, employees, and shoppers.
They had walked into a trap, and someone had informed the death eaters about their raid.
Fabian and Gideon Prewett shared a look as the place flooded with tens of death eaters, circling them as they looked down at the redhead twins.
Their fellow Order member, Dorcas Meadows, moved closer to the twins to stay together. Benjy Fenwick closed in the rear end, guarding the three against the back as he cursed under his breath.
"No" Marlene whispers, her eyes glued to the older version of Dorcas on the screen, a haunted look in her eyes. She wasn't the only one. Molly Weasley looked at her brothers with a pale face, scared for their lives.
"Not this time"
"Why do they look so ready? As if they knew all along." she asked in a whisper, eyeing the number of death eaters. The laughter and taunts from the death eaters bring the order members into a realization.
"Because they knew all along. Send a patronus, Dorcas. We have a mole within us." Gideon says, preparing himself for war as countless wands were raised towards them. Benjy's eyes widen in shock before he turns to Gideon.
"WHAT?"
"Mate, what you all need is veritaserum in your tea, daily" Evan says, looking horrified as he watched the four being surrounded by masked men.
Catalina nodded, "Exactly! Your strategies in the first war were so bad. No wonder you all died." She didn't care that she sounded rude or insensitive. They needed a reality check. So many of these attacks could have been avoided if they were a little paranoid and checked their members.
"I mean the least you could do was check their arms for the ugly tattoo"
"Do you just take in random people? Like strays?" Amalthea asks, amused as she watched them all stutter out answers.
"This doesn't look good. We're outnumbered. There's no way we're getting out of this, we need backup, Gid" he mutters, a scowl forming on Gideon's face as he nods. They had never thought of the possibility of having a mole within them.
Flashes of colors are seen as the four block the curses sent towards them. Them being overnumbered.
Gideon and Fabian were fighting off the Lestrange couple, Bellatrix and Rodolphus, the former of whom was cackling as she sent one after another curse at the two.
"The Prewett's! Sons of dear Aunt Lucretia! How sad the family must end this way. If only you chose the right path" Bellatrix sneered as she circled them, her husband on her tail.
Bellatrix winces, looking at the Prewett twins and Molly with an innocent smile. Rabastan covers his mouth, muffling his laughter as pandora punches his arm in warning.
"Sorry about that. If it helps, Aunt Lucretia is my favorite aunt"
"My mother doesn't stand for your morals, Lestrange" Fabian yelled out, his voice drowned by the chaos around him.
Bellatrix laughed, "She should have been disowned for marrying that good-for-nothing father of yours."
Gideon lurched towards Bellatrix, firing hexes at the woman who defended them gracefully.
Dorcas was fighting against Yaxley and Avery, two of the first death eaters, both equally skilled in the dark arts.
Dorcas' patronus, a magpie, had found the order headquarters, and soon enough reinforcements would come to help them out. She just hoped they would be able to come before it was too late.
Only it was too late. Dorcas heard a yell as she turned her head, having stunned Yaxley and Avery. She turned to face one of the twins on the ground with blood surrounding him.
Red everywhere, she saw the other twin shake the injured one.
"Gid, come on, get up! These death eaters aren't going to die themselves. " The heart wrenching cries of Fabian froze Dorcas, whose eyes were stuck to the unmoving figure of Gideon.
"Itty bitty Prewett is crying for his brother! I should be kind and send you along with him, shouldn't I?" Bellatrix cackled, a manic look in her eyes as she sends curses to Fabian, who deflects them with ease.
"You look a little cray cray, cousin" Sirius points out, smirking as Bellatrix glares at him.
Narcissa turns to her sister in shock, "He isn't wrong, Bella. Did you even check yourself in a mirror before getting out?"
"I'm sorry, Cissy I had murder on my mind obviously" Bellatrix croaked out sarcastically.
Dorcas breaks out of her state of shock when Malfoy spots her, sending one of the unforgivable at her. Dorcas Meadows scream fills the night sky as she falls to the ground, panting.
"People like you don't deserve magic, Meadows. You are a disgrace, filthy, mud blood. " The taunting voice of Lucius Malfoy filled the air as she heard pants and whispers from around her.
"Is that the only word you know, Malfoy? I suggest visiting a library to broaden your vocabulary" she spat, panting from the pain of the curse.
Lucius sneers at her, muttering the final words as Dorcas, caught off guard, stumbles back.
One moment, Dorcas was recovering from the curse, and the next moment, she was on the ground, unmoving and not breathing. Beside her, Fabian Prewett, too, had been defeated, Bellatrix having sent the last curse.
Benjy Fenwick was struggling against tens of death eaters, tears threatening to fall as he took a shaky breath. His leg was bleeding. He couldn't handle it anymore and he could feel his legs give out.
Rookwood was in front of him, Benjy's eyes closed from the blood loss. Rookwood leans in, whispering into his ears.
"Never trust a rat. Let this serve as a warning, Fenwick."
The marauders share a look, confusion filling their minds as they turn to Catalina who refuses to look at them. The same sinking feeling settled in all their hearts. James shook his head. It couldn't be.
"Peter would never" Deep in his mind James knew that there was a high chance they were talking about Peter. But he did not want to believe that. Peter wouldn't. This was their best friend. The same boy who cracked jokes to cheer him every time Lily rejected him, the same boy who learnt baking for Remus because he wanted to help him after every full moon, the same Peter who stayed up all night when Sirius had a nightmare and didn't want to wake James up.
Sirius nodded, "Maybe they don't mean an actual rat. Maybe it's a metaphor"
The green curse was fired, and the light in Benjy's eyes dimmed into nothing. The order was too late. They had lost four skilled members.
The death eaters fled the moment their work was done. Their mole had done the job for them.
On a cold May night, Alastor Moody and Edgar Bones found the bodies of Fabian Prewett, Gideon Prewett, Benjy Fenwick, and Dorcas Meadows.
Marlene held onto her girlfriend for dear life, sobbing as Gideon and Fabian played with their nephews to take their mind of their death. As Catalina turned to Benjy, she watched him smile and laugh with Edgar Bones, he looked okay.
MCKINNON RESIDENCE
JUNE 1980
Marlene McKinnon had never felt empty in her life but when Edgar Bones confirmed the death of Dorcas, her life felt like it had become meaningless, but Marlene knew that feeling like that would just be disrespectful to Dorcas.
"Does everyone die?" Marlene asks in shock as she looks at her future self.
"On the bright side, your hair looks amazing" Alice says, the blonde turns to her in disbelief.
"I'm home!" she announced as she walked in, removing her cloak to hang on the coat hanger. She felt arms around her, a smile forming on her face for the first time in a long time.
"Merlin Otto! You scared me" she exclaimed, wrapping her own arms around her little brother.
Otto giggles before dragging her inside the house. Lucia McKinnon chuckles as she watches her firstborn and youngest entertain each other in these dark times. Turning to face her husband, Karter smiled widely at the sight.
"Otto's gotten so tall!" Lily beams at the sight of the youngest McKinnon, Marlene nods as she looks at her brother with fondness.
Catalina winces as she takes a quick glance at Bellatrix, knowing very well what was going to happen next.
With their middle child, Nick in Hogwarts it was good to have their daughter be with her brother.
"Happy birthday, munchkin! You can finally go to Hogwarts this year" Marlene ruffled her brother's hair, the younger boy whining at being treated like a child.
Otto ran inside to bring something to show to Marlene, who sat next to her parents at the kitchen table.
"We're glad you came, Mar. With Nick at school, Otto has been very restless" Lucia held her daughter's hand, not mentioning anything about the war to not upset her daughter.
"It's his birthday, Mum. I wouldn't miss it. Things just have been rough, with Dorcas and the war" Marlene's voice breaks as she speaks to her parents.
"I know, darling. You've been so strong. We're proud of you, Marlene" her father says, a minute smile on his face as Marlene wipes away a few stray tears just as Otto comes running.
"Mar? Did you bring friends?" Otto asks, confused as he stares out the window.
Marlene shakes her head, confused as she turns her head to where Otto was looking. Her eyes widen in fear as she turns to her parents who seemed to come to the same realization.
"Take the floo from my room and leave, I'll hold them off" Marlene whispers, pecking Otto's cheek. Her parents grab their youngest and leave, trusting their daughter.
The McKinnon witch takes her wand, preparing herself as the door bursts open. She winces slightly as Lucius Malfoy, Mulciber, and Avery walk in.
"If It Isn't McKinnon!" Mulciber laughs, but it holds no humor.
"The dark lord was very disappointed when you rejected his offer. A pureblood like you would have done great things in his reign."
"Like I'd join a cult. That ugly tattoo is my thirteenth reason" she scoffs, staring at Belltarix's tattoo in disgust before shaking her head dramatically as if she just imagined having it on her arm.
Marlene clenches her fists in anger, "You have some nerve coming into my house and threatening me" she speaks, her voice louder than she had expected.
Avery smirks at her, followed by Malfoy as Mulciber points his wand at her. She does the same, but she was outnumbered.
"Did you think we came alone? I wonder if Bellatrix is done with your parents and brother" Malfoy says, Marlene stares at him, her heart beating erratically as she looks up the staircase frantically.
The next thing she heard was Bellatrix's cackle and she turned, her heart dropping at the sight of her brother. Bellatrix had dragged him down, his corpse.
"Do you like it? Oh, you don't! If you can't stomach this, I recommend not going upstairs. I took pity on the boy."
"I will kill you" Marlene grits out at Bellatrix, looking sick as she watches her brother's corpse. She stands up, her wand in her arm as she glares at the Lestrange.
Catalina waves her arm, forcing Marlene to sit down. The McKinnon glares at her and she sighs. She knew things would get messy at some point.
"I won't defend anyone here. But I'll say this, Bellatrix was told that her Amalthea was killed by someone who supported Dumbledore. Regulus died because people didn't believe him. Amalthea was killed because no one sent a search party for her even though she was kidnapped from Hogwarts. No one is innocent here. You all were manipulated by two men, Dumbledore, and Voldemort. Otto didn't have to die, and I would hex Bellatrix myself for it but for now let's focus on the movies and then you can go around hexing people." Catalina was tense, she didn't want to sound like she supported what Bellatrix did. She didn't, Bellatrix wasn't a hero, she was a villain, but all of this can be prevented.
Marlene nods, sitting down as she stares at the screen, tears in her eyes as she looks into the lifeless eyes of her youngest brother.
Sirius, who had listened to her entire speech turns to her.
"No one searched for Amalthea? What do you mean? We would search for her. All of us would have." Sirius Black was never one to be serious, but his eyes were burning with rage as he looked between his entire family. They would have gone to battle for Amalthea.
"Not if you didn't know she was missing. Dumbledore never reported that his student was kidnapped, people didn't know that Amalthea was kidnapped and after that Voldemort fabricated the tale that she was killed by the light side."
Marlene felt like throwing up by just imagining the sight upstairs. Her blood was boiling as she yelled a curse at Bellatrix. They dueled for a long time, with the other three watching them from the sidelines. Marlene got the upper hand and sent Bellatrix flying but the moment Bellatrix landed, Mulciber sent the unforgivable her way.
Marlene screamed, pain engulfing her as she flinched. But the pain was nothing compared to the loss she felt. She was not merciful as she muttered the two words, an unforgivable under her breath, and watched as the body of Mulciber fell under the sight.
"GO QUEEN"
"He deserved it!"
"That sexist piece of shit had it coming."
His eyes were unmoving just like her brothers. Avery laughed, the same humorless one as he neared her, whispering into her ears.
"Never trust a rat" he smirked before nodding to Lucius Malfoy and Bellatrix. Malfoy pointed his wand at her, Marlene held her breath before uttering out her final words.
"I pity Narcissa for marrying you."
"I pity myself too" Narcissa mumbled, hoping that no one heard as she looked at her husband with sadness. Narcissa loved Lucius, there was no doubt about that, but she knew that her son would be her main priority. She didn't want her son to follow Lucius or Bellatrix's footsteps.
But Marlene didn't live to see the reaction of the others because just as Mulciber fell, Marlene did too. Malfoy had yelled out the curse at her, right after she said her last words.
BONES RESIDENCY
NOVEMBER 1980
Edgar Bones and his wife Claire were proud parents to their only daughter, Susan. The one-year-old had been gifted with luscious red hair that she shared with her mother and blue eyes which were a Bones family specialty.
The father had taken a day off from his auror and order of the Phoenix Duties to be with his family on the special occasion of his little girl's birthday.
"A little girl, Edgar!" Claire blushed as Edgar pressed a kiss to her forehead, both watching their daughter with happiness.
"Susan plays a very important part in the future" Catalina smiles at the couple, who looked happy at the thought of being parents.
"We die, don't we?" Edgar asks, his tone saddening as Claire freezes, realizing that could be the only reason why they were being shown.
Catalina frowns, nodding as the hall watches the crestfallen look on the Bones family. Amelia paling as she stares at her brother and sister-in-law.
"Oh, you look wonderful, darling. Dada did a good job of dressing you, didn't he?" he asked the one-year-old who looked at him with her big eyes, one he absolutely adored.
She was dressed in a white dress, with her red hair pushed back with a headband. Her tiny hands were covered by matching white gloves. Claire Bones leaned against the door frame, a wide smile on her face as she watched in amusement.
Edgar was a huge softy when it came to Susan. Anything she did, he adored, and he was a great dad. It was rare for their small family to spend time together now, with the war raging on.
They couldn't invite guests or throw a big party for Susan due to the war. So, it was only the three of them.
"Amelia sent a letter, she's still at work. Merlin knows when that girl will get a break" Claire said, handing her husband the letter from his sister who had been working at the Department of law enforcement for five years now.
Edgar sighs, placing his daughter down so she can play with her toys.
"Every death eater we catch has an excuse up their sleeve and it's always the Imperio curse they accuse. DMLE has been going through a lot."
Their latest catch had also used the same excuse when questioned. It didn't make sense that veritaserum wasn't allowed. He had been the biggest advocate of using the potion on death eaters to reveal the truth.
Claire smiled sympathetically at Edgar, rubbing his palm in comfort.
"Let's not talk about the war today, Eddie. It's Susan's day" she said, both of their heads turning towards their darling daughter who was babbling to her toys.
Claire stood up, muttering that she was going to bring the cake she had baked. An angel-themed cake with a drawing of Susan on it.
"Mummy is bringing the cake! Happy birthday, love" Edgar whispers as Susan claps her hand in awe at the lit candles on the cake her mother brought. She makes grabby hands at it causing the parents to chuckle.
Edgar helps his daughter to the table, whispering for her to blow the candles out. Susan, unaware of what her father was telling, touches the frosting of the cake.
"Blow the candles, Susie" Claire laughs as she watches her daughter manhandle the cake, squirming out of her dad's arms.
Susan squeals lightly right when the bell rings. Edgar and Claire exchange a look of confusion.
"Did Amelia mention that she would come?" he asked, to which Claire shook her head. Edgar's jaw clenches, he whispers to Claire to send out a patronus as he takes Susan into a secluded hideout.
The Bones man opens the door to the closet, pulling the small lever which opened into a baby bassinet. He placed Susan in it, smiling softly at her.
"I love you, Susie. Mama loves you, darling. Auntie Lia will be here soon so don't worry."
He kissed her forehead, before pulling the lever again and the bassinet closed back, erasing any trace of Susan from the closet.
Claire emerges, "I've sent it out. Eddie, what if we never see Susie again?" her voice breaks as she looks towards the closet.
"If we die tonight, we know that she'll be raised into an incredible witch. It's all for Susan" he says, everything they did was for Susan. If they needed to die for her, they would gladly end their life.
They both had their wands at the ready and headed to the front door, praying for it to not be a death eater. But unfortunately for them, it wasn't one death eater but three and Emilio Hudson was one of them.
Everyone's eyes snapped to the Hudson boy who was sitting right beside Edgar. Edgar looked at his best mate in shock and betrayal, but his features softened as he watched Emilio looking at the screen in shock and disbelief.
"I can't be a death eater. I don't want to be one!" Emilio looked scared as he turned to Catalina, praying that she told him it was not true but as he watched the screen, he couldn't help but panic. He folded the sleeves of his shirt on both his arms, his arms didn't have the dark mark.
"Hudson isn't a death eater, I would know" Bellatrix said, furrowing her brows as she looked at the future Emilio and the Emilio in the room with them.
"He's too soft hearted for the job" Evan shrugged, stuffing popcorn in his mouth as he watched the screen and then at Emilio.
The moment they looked through the window, Claire's breath hitched, and panic filled her. She looked at Edgar with anxiousness and fear.
"Come out, Bones! Or I'll invite myself in" the deep voice of Emilio Hudson yells out.
They didn't make a noise, hoping that Hudson would just leave with his crew. They couldn't apparate out of the house because of the barrier.
"Alright then, I guess I'll just come in."
The two didn't have any time before the front door was thrown back in an explosion, the group of death eaters sauntering in. Claire was hidden behind the kitchen counters and Edgar was right next to the door, ready for the duel.
"Edgar Bones! Mate, we could have just talked it out, you know? Why arrest me?" Emilio Hudson took a few steps towards Edgar, who looked him in the eye, not flinching.
"Oh, tell Claire to relax, I can feel her panic till here" Emilio laughed, looking at where Claire was hidden.
Edgar grits his teeth, fists clenched.
"We were friends, Edgar. You were my best mate."
"You stopped being my friend when you nearly got my sister killed, Hudson" Edgar spit out, remembering Amelia's breakdown after nearly being hit by the killing curse.
If being a death eater wasn't enough shock, Emilio slipped from his chair at what was said about him. He loved Amelia, she was someone special in his life.
"Eddie, you know I would never" he whispers, his tone hesitant as he didn't believe himself. He didn't think he could ever harm the Bones' family but that contradicted what he was seeing on the screen.
Claire placed her palm on his shoulders in reassurance, "We need to watch on, Milo and Catalina did say she only got people who could have redemption. There might be a reason."
Emilio could feel himself nod faintly; his palms were sweating. His mind was everywhere, he wouldn't be able to live by himself if he had blood on his hands.
Emerson frowned as she watched Emilio rubbing his arm against his jeans, concern evident in her eyes before she looked back at the screen.
He felt Emilio falter at the mention of Amelia. Edgar looked at his former friend with sadness. What had changed? But he composed himself soon, "Sweet little Amelia! How is she? Still, working for the ministry? You should tell her to step down, don't want to get her killed too, do you?"
Edgar threw in the first punch, his wand remaining forgotten in his pocket as he watched blood pour out of Emilio's nose.
The two other death eaters launched onto him. Emilio laughed, wiping the blood away before motioning the two to step back.
Emilio's deep voice sounded deeper as he whispered, "Careful, Edgar. I've been told you were making life difficult for my friends, and they want you out of the way. I wanted to give you a less painful death but you're annoying me now."
Edgar Bones was the most skillful order member but a part of him would always treasure the friendship he had with Emilio Hudson. The Bones man couldn't bring himself to fight the death eater in his home.
Emilio yelled out a curse, which Edgar blocked with wandless magic. The two yelled curses at each other as Claire stayed out of the way as they had planned.
The duel continued for a while, Claire's patience wearing out as she grabbed her wand from her pocket. Ready to stun or kill Emilio if needed.
"Oh no you don't, Bones" she heard, gulping she turned to see one of the death eaters creep up behind her, his wand pointed at her neck.
"Why did you join them? What was the reason to join that madman?" Edgar asked, his voice cracking from the pressure of Emilio's gaze on him.
"You don't need to know that, Edgar. Now, I think it's only fair for the two of you to die together."
Edgar and Claire looked up in fear, Claire had a wand pointed at her neck and Edgar to his chest. The two death eaters muttered the unforgivable words in unison as Emilio watched. The two apparated leaving Emilio to stand in the Bones residency living room.
"Never trust a rat, Eddie. I'm sure Lia will keep Susan safe" he muttered, crouching down beside the body of his once best friend.
"I'm sorry, Edgar, but this is better than what they planned for you and your family." he whispered, his face now showing emotions that he had hidden away for two years.
"I am so sorry. I know no apology is enough but" he doesn't get to finish the sentence as Claire hugs him. Shocked by the turn of events, he wraps his arms around Emilio.
"We can't blame or forgive you unless we know why you did it, Milo but I am pissed that it happened on Susan's birthday."
A tear slipped from Emilio's eyes as he wiped it away. A sad smile on his face as he memorized his best friend's features. He knew it was cruel of him, killing two of his best friends from Hogwarts when they had a little girl. A humorless chuckle left his throat.
"Now that you can watch over Susan and Amelia, maybe you'll see Fran. Watch over her, Eddie. She's all alone there and hopefully soon I'll be with her." He says, his eyes not leaving the Bones family photo.
Edgar's face twisted into one of realization and his eyes met Catalina, the witch from the future nodding as he looked at his best friend in pity. All the dots connecting, and he only hoped Emilio wouldn't do anything to harm himself.
POTTER FAMILY COTTAGE, GODRICS HOLLOW
OCTOBER,1981
The Potter family of four was now seated in their living room with James, Vivian, and Amaryllis on the floor and with Lily reading a book on the armchair. James Potter clapped his hands as his daughters were both dressed in their deer costume.
"Oh, they look so cute" Avalon had to prevent herself from squealing at the sight of her daughter and honorary daughter.
Lily nodded, holding her hand as she gasped in awe at her daughter and her honorary daughter, who looked adorable.
James turned to his best friends in shock, "They look more like a couple than Lily and I do!"
Sirius scoffed in amusement, "Maybe they'll ditch you and become a family, prongs."
Remus smacked Sirius which earned a laugh from Euphemia and Emerson, who looked awkward sitting with the marauders.
Two-year-old Vivian sat on her father's lap, with Amaryllis playing with her toy broom that her godfather got her.
"Oh, they look adorable, Lily" James gushes as he smiles at his children. Vivian, who had her mother's facial characteristics and her father's eyes giggled before slapping him on his thigh.
Lily smiled, amused by her husband and the two kids. Both have antler headbands on their head.
"Papa? Why is no Padfoot coming? Where is Mama?" she asked, her voice low as she rubs her sleepy eyes. James' eyes soften as he pecks her cheek.
"She called me padfoot! I'm her favorite" Sirius yelled his eyes widening at the thought of being called Uncle padfoot. An annoyed Remus shoved a piece of chocolate into his mouth, which he was thanked for. Avalon looked at the screen in confusion, why wasn't she there.
Catalina's eyes softened and she smiled fondly at the sight of Vivian. There was a weight in her heart that refused to be lifted as she watched the little girl who was sitting on her father's lap.
"Mama is coming soon, sunshine. Padfoot will come next week" he answers, chuckling as she pouts.
"I think it's time for Vivi and Amary to go to bed, James. It's almost eleven" she scolds the Potter man who pouted at his wife.
Lily scoffed at how similar the father-daughter duo was. Amaryllis let out a squeal as she made grabby hands at her mother, who picked her up. James had already picked up Vivian and their blanket.
"So, Amaryllis is a mummy's girl and Vivian is a daddy's girl?" Ilaria said, smiling at the potter family, wishing for something like that with her family in the future.
She could feel Nico tense next to her as he watched their family moments, she leaned into him laying her head on his shoulder which he kissed.
Lily had taken the kids upstairs when the wards shifted. There was a shadowy figure outside their home, but they didn't notice because it was dark.
"James? What are you staring at?"
James sighs as he sits on the couch next to Lily, her hand taking James' in hers as she rubbed it in reassurance.
"What if we made the wrong choice, Lils?"
"What do you mean?" Lily asks, confused as she tilts her head.
"What if we made a mistake? We changed our secret keeper without informing anyone, Lils. I think we should tell someone, it's just not sitting right with me, Lily."
"We agreed Peter was a better option, James. Sirius would be far too obvious, he's your brother in all but blood."
"This doesn't feel right" Remus muttered as he looked around to see Peter not being there. He had noticed it before, all of them had but it was starting to make sense to him.
Sirius frowned, "he wouldn't, would he?"
James' fists were clenched at the thought of his best friend betraying them.
"Let's hope he doesn't."
"Yes, Peter is less predictable, but I have this gut feeling and I don't think it's a good one."
For some reason it wasn't sitting right with James, he had taken to pacing around the nursery, his eyes stuck to his two kids.
Outside their cottage, the shadowy figure and Avalon Song had come face to face. The shadowy figure was taken aback but still laughed at the sight of the woman.
Avalon's breath hitched and fear set in her as she watched her future counterpart. Her hair was shorter than it was during the wedding scene.
She felt Euphemia Potter hold her palm in comfort and gave her a small smile.
"Avalon Song! Here to protect your family?" he asked, inching towards her as she glared down at him. His eyes narrowed into slits, pulling his wand out and pointing towards her.
"I'll protect them till my dying breath, not that you would know what that would mean" she spat out, pointing her own wand at him, ready to use the unforgivable at him.
She could feel James, Lily, Sirius, Emerson, Remus, and the older Potter couple all look at her with nervous glances, knowing what was to come but Avalon couldn't move her eyes from the screen.
She was never brave, she wasn't a Gryffindor, and she didn't do good with danger, so it surprised her how she was risking her life.
"You dare?" he yelled, but his voice was muffled due to the thunder.
"You're a power-hungry man who has mommy and daddy issues. Tell me, where's your dad, Riddle? Killed him, didn't you?" She was risking her life but after learning some facts about the man, no animal in front of her, she couldn't believe his audacity.
Bellatrix and her husband looked at Avalon in respect, their eyes widening at what her future self was saying. Lucius Malfoy looked at the screen like his life depended on it.
"Crucio!"
Avalon flinched, she could feel Lily and Emerson holding on to her on either side of her. She could feel all eyes on her, but Avalon was focused on herself the screen. She couldn't move her eyes, even though she wanted to.
The Song witch swerved to miss it, her own spell aimed at him which he blocked.
She just hoped that Lily and James would get her patronus and were using the emergency portkey to get away to a safe house.
The screen split into two, the right showing Avalon and Voldemort dueling and the left showing the Potter couple who were frantically searching for the port key.
"It's not working, James! Why isn't the portkey not working?" Lily whispered, tears filling her eyes as she paced around to figure out the situation.
"What do you mean it isn't working?" Marlene yelled, worried for the three of them and the two kids. Alice and Frank held onto each other as tears wet Mary's cheeks.
Regulus and Amalthea looked at the Potter family and then exchanged looks.
James was muttering spells after spells to activate the portkey which wasn't working. Amaryllis and Vivian looked at the two adults in confusion.
The screen changes to show Avalon who was bleeding from her head after being hit by a spell. She was panting but sent hexes and curses at the dark lord who was hit by a few and blocked more. He was more skilled and experienced than her.
There were gasps heard around the hall, Aurors noting down the date and day of the event and everything they saw. Ilaria saw them whisper to each other and whispered to Nico.
"How much do you think the future will change?"
Nico looked at her in thought before replying, "Most of these couples were already going to happen I don't think the birth of their kids will change but Vivian I'm worried for. She was conceived in a one-night stand."
Ilaria hoped that Vivian would be in the future with the same parents. But her eyes widened as she remembered the date.
"Didn't Catalina say Vivian was born in December?" she asked, Nico nodding as a smile covered Ilaria's face despite the situation.
"It's April!"
"What would you like your last words to be, Song?" he asked, malice covering his voice as he laughed.
Avalon stared at him in hatred, knowing she was in a losing game.
"Do you think your followers will stay when they learn who you are? You're a fake, Tom Riddle. You're a half-blood, a disgrace in their eyes. You have filthy blood like the people they hate. Your popularity isn't for long, and you will be defeated" she said, her voice steady and her eyes on his. She wasn't afraid and she wouldn't bow down to him.
Everyone gasped, whispers going around the hall.
"That man is a half-blood? he dares lie? he dares to kill my children, who are more superior than him?" Walburga roared at the top of her voice, anger, and malice lacing her voice as she spewed all sorts of curses at the so-called dark lord.
Bellatrix's eyes darken, these movies were already making her despise the dark lord, but his lies had made her want to kill him.
She turned to Regulus, "I need information on the other Horcruxes, we have a bitch to kill."
Sirius and Andromeda smirked before piping up, "We can make this a Black family treasure hunt."
Narcissa claps her hand in excitement, "Oh, yes family bonding time!"
"About damn time! We haven't done anything together in ages" Amalthea pouts.
If steam could be pouring out of someone's ears, it would for the dark lord. He was sneering at her, his eyes darkening as he muttered the two words. The bleeding Avalon fell to the ground.
Avalon froze, she was expecting it when she came on the screen but the moment, she watched her body fall to the floor, unmoving she couldn't help but freeze.
She didn't tear up like the Bones or Marlene had, she looked anywhere but the people looking at her.
Avalon turned to Catalina and unlike the others she didn't ask anything or want to know if she actually died.
"Thank you for not bringing my parents" she said, and it seemed Euphemia had only then realized that Avalon's parents were not present. Catalina nodded at the girl, her heart aching as she watched her best friend's mother block every emotion, it was like watching Vivian.
James' fists clenched as he stared at the screen in anger, Euphemia Potter's cheeks were wet from tears as she held onto her husband. The two girls, Lily, and Emerson, who were on both sides of Avalon tensed but held onto the girl.
None of them were friends before this, but they were family in the future, they would protect each other. Avalon died for the Potter's.
"None of this will happen in the future." Sirius said, his voice steady and leaving no room for arguments.
On the cold October night, Avalon Song was on the ground, blood pooling around her, her eyes closed and the final picture flashing in her head of her family, her little girl, parents, her little brother, The Potter family, and its extended members.
The screen switched again. James who was in the living room was trying to activate the floo network which they were suggested to disconnect when they went into hiding.
Avalon was still slightly shocked, but her eyes were studying everything on the screen and some things didn't make much sense to her.
She waited for the scene to get over to share her thoughts, but she could notice Amelia Bones also note down details every two minutes.
"Work for Merlin's sake" he whispered under his breath, Lily was upstairs with the kids and was trying her best to activate the portkey.
The shadowy figure of Voldemort was seen through the windows causing James' heart to drop. He looked up the stairs in horror before yelling out.
"Lily! Take the kids and hide fast. He's here"
The redhead gasped, looking down the stairs at her husband who was guarding the door with a look of urgency.
"I can't leave you, James!"
"I'll hold him off, Lily. Get to safety with the kids. Send a patronus out."
James could feel Remus tense beside him and Sirius holding onto his arm for life, the girls in front of him were surrounding Lily with comfort.
The door was blasted open with Voldemort on the other end. He had a wicked smirk on his face as he entered the house.
"James Potter, how do you plan on fighting me without your wand."
James cursed under his breath as he realized he left his wand near the fireplace. He turned to the dark lord with a glare.
"I was thinking of punching you but that'd be hard because you've got no nose."
Sirius burst out in laughter, joined by Bellatrix who was holding onto her husband in support. Avalon let out a smile and Emerson stared at James in disbelief.
Lily shook her head along with Euphemia who slapped James' arm.
"Only you, Potter. Only you"
He smirked as Voldemort's face hardened, "The last person who insulted me didn't live to tell the tale, Potter. You might know her, she's outside dead."
James' face lost all color and emotion as he looked through the door to see the brown hair of Avalon covered in blood. He clenched his fists, before turning back to the dark lord who had a smug smirk.
Without thinking twice, he launched himself on the dark lord, punching him where his nose would have been.
There were yells and whistles from every corner of the hall as James looked proud of himself, smirking at the screen.
Avalon looked at him with a grateful smile as Evan Rosier yelled out, "That was gold, Potter."
But James too didn't live to tell the tale as he fell to the ground when the dark lord yelled the killing curse. Green met Hazel and James Potter too had fallen.
"It was worth it" James shrugged as everyone near him looked at him in bewilderment.
Euphemia slaps his arm again, "You were just killed and thats what you say?"
"Am I supposed to cry? Come on mum, I died an epic death! I just regret leaving Amaryllis, Vivian, and Lily alone" James grumbled as he clutched his arm in pain.
Lily heard the thump of James' body falling, her tears flowing as she locked the doors, turning to Amaryllis and Vivian who looked up at her.
"Mama, dada and Aunt Ava love you, Amary. Mama, dada, and Aunt Lily love you, Vivian. Stay safe and protect each other, Amaryllis, and Vivian."
The door opened and she didn't have time as Voldemort was in front of her.
"Step aside, mud blood"
Lily shook her head, "Take me instead! Not my daughter"
Lily didn't get a chance as the dark lord yelled out the two words, the green light filling the room as Lily fell. Amaryllis starts crying at the sight of her mother on the floor of her nursery, calling out to her as she wrestles out of her sister's arms.
Lily, like Avalon and James looked proud of herself. There were no tears and no sadness. She had done whatever she could to save her children, and she didn't regret it. What she did regret was not trying harder to stay alive for the kids.
"So, we all die?" Avalon asks, her heart dropping for Vivian and Amaryllis who lost their parents that night.
Lily nods, "You guys will take care of them, right?"
She was looking at Remus, Sirius, and Emerson. The latter of the three was surprised that they trusted her with their children. They nodded, but Sirius was looking at James who stared at the crib where his children were.
"I'm going to kill Peter" James muttered, a vacant and dark look on his face. They heard him and Avalon couldn't help but smirk.
Peter Pettigrew would face the wrath of her family and he deserved it.
"This is the child who can defeat me? There shall be no one to defeat the dark lord after I kill you."
Amaryllis and Vivian stare at the man, not understanding what's happening but Vivian pulls Amaryllis toward her, not liking the older man.
"AVADA KEDAVRA!"
The green light filled the room and shined outside the windows but instead of young Amaryllis falling prey to the curse, it was Voldemort.
The curse had rebounded and had hit Voldemort causing him to disappear, pronounced dead for thirteen years.
"WHAT?"
"The killing curse can rebound?"
"SO VOLDY IS DEAD?"
"Prongs, your daughter killed the bastard!"
"YES AMARY, KILL THE MOTHERFUCKER"
"A one-year-old killed the dark lord."
"I have to admit that was funny."
UNKNOWN LOCATION
9th NOVEMBER 1981
No one was born vile and cruel. No one was born evil, evil was made, sculpted by a tale that had turned an innocent child into a monster.
To the world Emilio Hudson was a monster and he believed that. He believed himself to be a monster, a vile creature, a coward who was the reason his best mate had died.
Emilio sunk deeper into his seat as everyone's eyes turned towards him again. He didn't like the attention; he was still in shock that he turned into one of his worst fears.
Amelia glanced at him from her notebook, trying to study him. It was well known in the Bones' circle that she liked him, and he liked her, but they had never acted upon it. With Emilio being a healer and Amelia working in the DMLE.
Emilio wondered when everything turned so dark in his rather colorful life. He wondered when he, an exceptional healer chose the path of darkness and torture.
"That's what we're all wondering, Milo" Emerson mumbled.
He blamed it on his impulse. He was never good with grief and grief made people do terrible things. But he blamed it largely on Albus Dumbledore, the old coot who thought only Gryffindor's existed.
After all, Hogwarts aided only the lions and never the quiet eagles, kind badgers or the sly snakes.
"FACTS"
Albus Dumbledore was the reason why his dear Francesca was dead. His little sister, who he begged Dumbledore to save had died because the headmaster refused to help.
His fists clenched as he stared at the gravestone. It was a quiet day with no one around. It had been a few days since the dark lord fell and Emilio was relieved. He didn't know how long he could carry himself. He was tired.
Francesca Marsha Hudson
FEBRUARY 1961 -
JULY 1976
Call my name, and I'll be there.
"Hello, Fran. Sorry I haven't visited in a long time" he whispered fondly, running his hand across the gravestone, and picking up the fallen leaves.
He had no tears to spare, they dried off when he took his first life. The whistling of the wind and cold crisp air chilled him as he smiled at the gravestone.
She was here with him, and she was berating him for his choices. He knew that.
"Mother and father are dead. I thought you ought to know. I celebrated it but I know you wouldn't, even if they killed you. Heard it was the killing curse, I wonder who killed them" he said, an amused smirk on his face knowing very well that he knew.
"You killed them?" Edgar wanted to be mad that his friend but a part of him knew Mr. and Mrs. Hudson deserved it.
"They deserved it" Emilio glared at the screen. As he worked in a hospital, he knew that all children deserved parents which is another reason he is disgusted within himself, how could he kill Edgar and Claire and orphan their daughter. Every child deserves parents but not all parents deserve to have children.
His parents were the best examples. They were horrendous, abusive and took it all out on his younger sister.
"Don't glare at me, Fran. You might be wondering why I'm here. The death eaters are going after Emerson today. You remember Emerson Lancaster, right? She was a year above you. They arrested her fiancรฉ, Sirius Black. But obviously Dumbledore didn't do anything. In the end, everyone's life is miserable due to that man."
"But Peter was the secret keeper!" Remus argued, shaking his head as his head snapped to Sirius who seemed to be in shock.
James' fists were clenched, "I should have never changed the secret keeper."
Emerson watched the boy sitting beside her, her future boyfriend, and the father of her daughter. She was hesitant but held his palm in hers, intertwining their fingers.
"Hey, this isn't going to happen this time around. Our daughter is going to grow up with both her parents" she whispered for only him to hear. Sirius turned to Emerson, he had never really talked to her before and if he had, he didn't remember it but here she was and Sirius couldn't tear his eyes away.
He breathed in, looking around for any trace of mankind but sighed when there was no one around. After all, why would anyone be in the Hudson family graveyard.
"I should save her, shouldn't I? I've lost you; I took Edgar and Claire away from their daughter and I feel like a monster. Regulus Black is dead too. I know you had a huge crush on him. I think the lad liked you too, maybe you'll meet him in heaven." he chuckled, his knuckles turning white at how hard he had clenched them.
He felt a presence behind him, turning to face the person he didn't acknowledge.
"Hello, Bellatrix"
A smile appeared on her face at his nonchalant expression.
"Here to question me? I don't know about what happened to the dark lord."
Bellatrix sat beside him on the ground, the fallen leaves crunching beneath her footsteps. She looked ahead at the gravestone, placing flowers nearby.
Emilio looked at her, confusion evident on his face as he analyzed the flowers. They were Francesca's favorite.
"It feels weird, doesn't it? I thought the Dark Lord's disappearance would have upset me, but I feel relief. The Black family has met its end, I suppose" she mused, she looked at the clouds above them with a sense of freedom.
Emilio understood her. He joined the death eaters to avenge Francesca, he wanted nothing to do with Albus Dumbledore and now that he had taken his revenge, everything felt pointless.
"Well, we've gotten our explanation I suppose" Claire whispered, smiling at Emilio. She knew she should have been mad at him. She should have hexed him like Marlene had wanted to, but she couldn't.
None of Emilio's curses hit Edgar, as if he was aiming at anyone and anything except Edgar and from what the movie said, the death eaters had a more painful death planned for them.
"We have one last job left, Hudson. I might be a death eater, but those who pose a threat to my family do not live to tell the tale."
"You're talking about Emerson and her daughter." He realized what the job was, and he was ready. She nodded, Bellatrix looked murderous, and he had never seen her look that determined.
"They are family and I protect my family."
"Thank you"
Surprisingly, it was Sirius who thanked the two. Bellatrix composed herself from the initial shock of being thanked by Sirius. She nodded, Emilio smiling at Sirius and Emerson.
The pop sound of apparition is heard as Bellatrix and Emilio disappear from the graveyard. It would be their last mission together and it was their most important one.
The screen showed a montage of different scenes with voiceovers as if it were pensive. The scenes moved fast, and each time smoke covered them like a dark cloud.
The scene showed little Amaryllis rebounding the killing curse as Voldemort disappeared.
"He Who Must Not Be Named defeated by Amaryllis Potter, the girl who lived."
The black smoke cleared to show fireworks and wizards and witches in their colorful attire celebrating.
"After years in the dark, we can now celebrate the light and the defeat of He Who Must Not Be Named."
It changed to St. Mungos hospital for magical maladies and injuries, and it panned to the janus thickey ward where the words Alice and Frank Longbottom could be seen.
"Alice and Frank Longbottom who were tortured by Avery, Crouch, and Selwyn have been said to have lost their mind and are admitted to St.Mungos indefinitely"
Alice and Frank smile sadly at each other, tears wetting Alice's face as her friends hugged her.
"That was what the death eaters had planned for Edgar and Claire" Catalina spoke up, the Bones' family and Emilio looking at her in disbelief before nodding.
The face of Sirius Black laughing maniacally is shown as he dragged away by aurors from a street where twelve muggles are slaughtered, and the finger of Peter Pettigrew is seen.
"Sirius Black arrested for the murder of twelve muggles and Peter Pettigrew."
The dead bodies of Avalon, James and Lily are seen before the screen shifts again.
"The Potters and Avalon Song found dead in Godric's Hollow."
The shift shows a baby Amaryllis Potter on the doorstep of the Dursleys looking up at the sky, her scar visible.
The screen shifts again to the Lancaster manor where Emilio Hudson and Bellatrix Lestrange fight against countless death eaters, one dead and the other would be thrown into Azkaban.
"The Girl Who Lived, Amaryllis Potter savior of the wizarding world!"
The screen turned dark, and words appeared.
PHILOSOPHERS STONE
"So, we all die. Good to know" Amalthea muses, a sardonic smile on her face as she stares at Catalina.
"You do and that's why I came to this particular timeline, if we want the future to be all sunshine and rainbows, we need to start here"
