A loud and dramatic sigh escaped Sirius Black as he watched Ilaria Fontaine, his childhood friend sitting in a corner at the Slytherin table, sleeping with her head on the table, plates pushed away. His eyes shift to the people next to Ilaria. Evan Rosier, Rabastan, and Pandora Lestrange along with his little siblings, Regulus and Amalthea we're talking in hushed voices, huddled up.
He rolled his eyes; he didn't know why Amalthea wasn't with someone in her grade but was seated with sixth year's. Amalthea Melania Black, the baby of House of Black is Sirius and Regulus' baby sister born in 1963, making her a fourth year.
"Padfoot! Stop staring at your siblings and Fontaine, last time little Thea hexed you" James whispered, nudging him to get him to stop staring at the Slytherin table which seemed an automatic reflex nowadays.
He hears a snort coming from James' side to see Lily Evans covering her mouth with her palm, looking thoroughly amused as she watches Sirius stick a tongue out at her in a childish fashion.
"Merlin, Evans I liked you better when you hated us." he muttered, turning away from the redhead. Lily and James had become friends earlier on in the year, with the Potter boy actively trying to move on from the green eyed witch.
To Sirius' left was Remus Lupin, the boy who was sipping on hot cocoa whilst flipping through a muggle magazine that he borrowed from Sirius. Peter, who sat opposite Remus looked bored and played around with his food.
"Your sister apparently got into a fight with Emerson Lancaster before dinner. Marlene says that it was a misunderstanding that Amalthea had" Lily says, helping herself to another portion of the pie. Her eyes trailed to Sirius who had his eyebrows furrowed.
"Misunderstanding? What misunderstanding?" Sirius was very behind on gossip that went around Hogwarts. He had never thought that seventh year would be hard, but the marauders hadn't gotten a chance to prank anyone in a month and that itself said something.
Lily leaned in, causing a butterfly effect as James, Peter, and Remus leaned in along with Alice Fortescue.
"You know Joanne and her little followers in Ravenclaw? They made up rumors that Emerson was bad-mouthing the Black family or something. Someone told Amalthea this and she stormed up to Emerson who was on her way to class. Amalthea punched her in the nose and pushed her. Poor Emerson is in the hospital wing now" Lily explained, causing Sirius to frown.
Emerson Lancaster wasn't the type to bad-mouth anyone. She was probably the kindest soul in Hogwarts. So whatever rumors that Joanne and her squad made might have been bad to trigger Amalthea.
James winced, clutching his nose as if feeling Emerson's pain, his eyes immediately moving towards the Hufflepuff table where an angry Nico Winters sat in his usual spot beside Emerson Lancaster, except that Emerson wasn't there.
Alice looked at them and said, "Have you noticed that Emerson is always at the hospital wing? She's there at least once a week. She looked really pale when Amalthea punched her. I hope she's okay."
"Oh, Nico looked murderous when he saw the state Emerson was in" Lily finished.
Lily was right, Sirius knew. Nico and Ilaria were dating and with Nico being close to Emerson, Ilaria had mentioned her before. Nico and Emerson were like him and James, always messing around and casually calling each other brother and sister.
Before Sirius could question them further about what the rumor was, the doors to the great hall were thrown open. Behind the door stood numerous wizards and witches who all stormed into the great hall.
Amelia Bones, a rookie in the department of magical enforcement at the ministry of magic, had a letter in her hand which she passed to McGonagall, who looked just as confused as the rest of the hall.
They all spoke in hushed voices and Sirius couldn't hear them. He exchanged looks with his friends, who all looked weirded out by the sudden appearance.
James stood up, having spotted his parents, Euphemia and Fleamont who were with the crowd. The hazel-eyed boy didn't have a chance to speak to them as Minerva McGonagall spoke up using the sonorous charm.
Madame Pomfrey entered the hall, Emerson, and a few other students behind her. Sirius saw the letter in Pomfrey's hand. She too had been asked to bring all the students.
"It seems that people from the future are trying to reach out to us. They have sent a few movies, which we must watch. Only those who are mentioned in the letter will watch these movies. We are checking for any dark magic. Please be patient and maintain decorum."
Sirius expected everyone to protest but in front of his eyes, he watched as first to third-years all vanish along with many others, and only a few students were left. A few are his brother's little group, Nico Winters, and Emerson Lancaster.
The screen appeared and many people let out screams of surprise as the four house tables and faculty table transformed into more comfortable seats. Sirius could vaguely hear as some muggle-born and half-bloods talked in hushed voices about being excited to see the movies.
Strong gust of wind blew through the great hall, the candles flickering and blowing out completely leaving the hall in pitch darkness. The anxious chatter and whispers grew along with panicked teenagers who seemed confused at the sudden breeze.
James Potter was tired. All the seventeen-year-old boy had wanted was to have a peaceful dinner and then go to sleep so he could wake early for his head boy duties but now he couldn't see anything, and his plate was empty.
After an agonizing sixty seconds the candles were lit again, the breeze long forgotten but everyone's eyes were drawn to the female sat on the high table, twirling her wand between her fingertips.
The blonde-haired witch adjusted her eyesight to the brightness, groaning at the wands pointed at her. She wished the wizarding kind wasn't foolish but every single time she was proven wrong. They were incredibly foolish and could not for the sake of merlin understand instructions.
"Is this necessary? You were already informed I would be coming," she said, awkwardness filling the atmosphere as she watched the crowd stare at her intensely.
She had only called a few people. Those who had redemption within them, some had done jobs that weren't worthy of redemption.
"How can we believe you? A girl from the future, highly unlikely!" The words spewed by Alastor Moody went unheard when she pinched the bridge of her nose, letting out a frustrated groan. The blonde-haired witch turned to Professor Slughorn.
"I'm sure you have veritaserum in your storage, professor."
Slughorn looked startled at being called out and nodded rapidly, summoning the vile which she was then given by Dumbledore.
She rubbed her hands onto her clothes, muttering under her breath, "Don't need more filth on me."
She heard muffled chuckles, and she knew exactly who it was as she looked at them. James didn't mean to laugh; his palm covered his mouth as he pretended to be coughing instead but Sirius didn't cower away.
The unknown witch gulped the potion, waving her hand as a gesture for them to start interrogating her. She acted like the entire population of Hogwarts along with influential families and the ministry were not watching her like hawks.
Alastor Moody, the experienced auror, was the one who would question the witch.
"What's your name? Who do you work for?"
James found her intriguing as she started laughing, calming herself down to answer the questions of the auror. His eyes moved to the crowd surrounding the high table and they lit up when he spotted his parents amongst the people.
He nudged Sirius, pointing towards where most of the Black family stood, earning a groan in response as he patted Sirius' back in comfort. Remus narrows his eyes at the two before motioning towards the witch who was now staring Moody down.
"I am Catalina Ruiz, descendant of Valentina Ruiz. I work for the Order of the Pheonix."
Moody's eyes harden at the answer, eyes narrowing at her.
"Which year are you from? We don't have any Catalina in order now, and there are no records of you studying at Hogwarts." he asked, suspicious but still relieved at her alliance.
Catalina rolled her eyes, scoffing lightly at the blatant ignorance that they had. She couldn't believe them. She had mentioned twice now that she was from the future. Once in the letter she sent, and the other time Moody mentioned it when she arrived.
"I'm from the year 1999, a year after the second war is over. These are details I particularly mentioned in the letter. Now I understand why you lot died. Ignorant fools, you lot are."
She heard gasps and mutters at the words spoken. She didn't turn to any of them before using her wand to cast a sonorous charm. It was like everyone was in a trance as they watched her. She carried herself so confidently and demanded all the attention without even doing much.
"As I mentioned. I am Catalina. Now in this timeline, I don't exist and that is because I am born in 1979, a year later. It took a lot to come here, twenty-one years in the past, and we did it for all of you. This isn't a one man show and I won't take sole credit for it. We spent months perfecting the spell, technique, and the memories we want to show you. Unlike most of you, who haven't witnessed the seriousness of the war, I have. I fought it, we all fought. From fourteen-year-olds to much older wizards, everyone fought. For you all, your life is just starting but for us, it has ended. We lost so much and this, this is the last chance we all have. I hope you all pay attention to the memories we have. My friends have transformed important memories into movies, and we have seven movies to watch. So please, don't fuck it up." She looked tormented, her eyes dull and her face emotionless as she looked at all of them, her eyes stopping at a few people.
James could almost swear she was looking at him, as if she could not look away and that made him curious. Did she know him? He couldn't tear his eyes away from Catalina as she spoke, she sounded pained, and he felt like she had lost a part of herself in the war.
Professor McGonagall cleared her throat, causing Catalina to look at her and surprising everyone her lips lifted to a smile at the sight of the professor.
"You said 'we'. How many of you were involved in this process?"
Catalina smiled fondly at the mention of her team.
"There are thirteen of us, including me."
Catalina had taken to helping the professors set the projector and loaded the first movie in.
James beamed as his parents made their way towards where the marauders sat.
"Oh boys, I hope you're all behaving yourself?" she folded her arms below her chest as she looked at the three boys who all smiled widely at her.
"Where's Peter?" Fleamont asked, looking around for the fourth marauder. Remus and James looked at him confused before looking at where Peter was sitting, only to see that the boy had vanished.
"He was right here?" Remus mumbles but their attention moves towards Sirius who looks in the other direction.
They did not get time to chat more as the hall darkened and the screen lit up.
UNKNOWN LOCATION
JUNE,1979
Regulus Black, the heir to the house of Black, had a secret. It was a secret so big that it would have him dead if others were to know about it. The heir, who was only eighteen years old, had largely suffered. The exploits against him started in 1971 when his beloved older brother, Sirius, had been sorted into the house of Godric Gryffindor.
"What secrets are they talking about?" the familiar voice of Druella Rosier spoke up, her eyes fixated on the screen.
Regulus shrugs at his aunt, "It's the future, Aunt Druella."
He was used to hiding his emotions and other details that if his parents were informed, he would deal with worse than the torture curse.
First, Regulus Black adored muggle literature and authors. He loved stories muggle authors fabricated. They just seemed much more enticing and exciting to read.
His personal favorite was Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. Regulus was also a fan of muggle art and music. They spoke to him more than whatever rubbish it was that Celestina Warbeck sang.
His fascination with muggle literature and art came from a woman named Rowan Ambrose. He was seven when he met Rowan, an eighteen-year-old high school graduate who also happened to be at the same park Regulus sneaked to.
Regulus heard snorts so he turned to Bellatrix, Narcissa, and Andromeda, all of them who looked at him amused. Though Andromeda and Bellatrix weren't on talking terms, they seemed delighted to have the same thoughts.
"You weren't subtle about sneaking out, Regulus" Narcissa chuckled at his panicked look, looking to his parents who too looked amused.
Rowan became his first friend, his only friend, until he met Evan Rosier.
"You love me!" Evan gushes, mock gasping as he held a palm to his heart in happiness. Regulus looked away, a grimace forming on his face, but a small smile was present which didn't show.
But there were secrets he couldn't tell Rowan. These included the wizarding world and his dirtiest secret of all.
Regulus Black was an anti-dark lord. It came as a shock to Regulus himself. But as a seventeen-year-old boy seated at the privileged Slytherin tables, he watched as students from Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Gryffindor were pulled outside classrooms and dining halls. He didn't think much of it at first, but they always seemed to leave school for a few days, returning with bloodshot eyes and faces that were hollow from mourning.
"You're what? Anti Dark Lord? Regulus, that could get you killed!" Bellatrix whisper yells at the Black heir who looked unbothered by her reaction.
Regulus had started to lose faith in the dark lord since the new term began but he was still hesitant on whether to follow him or not. But if his future counterpart didn't follow the dark lord, it meant he chose the former.
He realized that the person who he was thought to worship had stolen countless families from children like him. It was on that summer night that he saw Sirius comfort a girl in Gryffindor, who had lost both her parents.
Regulus' heart clenched. For a second, he didn't want to be the boy his brother hated. He wanted to protect his younger sister from everything he suffered. Maybe he could be better than all these privileged wizards and witches who didn't have to worry about being hunted down.
He thought about Fleamont and Euphemia Potter, who had taken his brother under their wing. He knew that the Potters were one of the outspoken anti-dark lord families, which meant they were easily on the hit list.
Amalthea took Regulus' arm under the table, holding it in comfort, both missing their older brother immensely. The same brother who had found their replacement in James Potter and a family in the Potters.
Sirius had an unreadable expression on his face, he stared at the screen not knowing what he should do. But Euphemia Potter beamed at Regulus, a wide and comforting smile on her face.
Regulus didn't want Sirius to lose the only family he had left. So, he started plotting and scheming. There was a reason Regulus Black was known as the smartest wizard of the seventies.
He found out something that he was sure no one knew of. He felt disgusted that a wizard was capable of what he had found out.
A Horcrux was the most inhumane form of dark arts to ever exist. Voldemort had split his soul five times to create five Horcruxes, all of which were strategically hidden from plain sight.
Unfortunately for the dark lord, he hadn't had the fortune to meet the smartest wizard in the sacred twenty-eight. Regulus Black had plotted and found the whereabouts of all five.
No one noticed Slughorn pale when the Horcrux was mentioned. The Black family looked shocked, disgust filling their features as they exchanged looks. Even Sirius, who despised his family, held similar looks, as if they knew something others didn't.
Catalina smirked, she knew the importance of the information Regulus possessed and she couldn't wait for them to watch the last movie.
"The dark lord created Horcruxes? Does that mean he is immortal?" a fifth year Slytherin asks, having heard of the term from a book in her library at home.
Orion, Fleamont, and Abraxas nod at her gravely. Arcturus Black turns to the child and answers her question.
"He is not completely immortal. One can destroy all his Horcruxes and then kill him. But to be mortal means to have humanity and for someone to split their soul five times, he doesn't have any left."
This all leads to him standing in the cave, where the first one was. He was wearing his Hogwarts uniform, having taken Professor Slughorn's floo network. His eyes were trained on the path ahead, ignoring the whimpers and protests released by Kreature, the Black family house elf.
"Quiet, Kreature" Regulus orders for the house elf to quieten down. His forehead was covered in tiny droplets of sweat, palms clammy, and fidgeting fingers. He knew it wouldn't be easy, he was sure of it.
A part of him wished he would write letters to his brother, sister, Ilaria and Evan to tell them about the Horcrux, but it wouldn't be safe. They wouldn't be safe with that information.
So here he was, with no insurance nor clarity on whether he would make it out alive from this cave.
"What the hell are you doing?" Amalthea was terrifying when she was calm. Everyone knew to stay away from her when her anger had saturated enough to receive no reactions from her.
Regulus could feel Evan stiffening from his side and Ilaria looked like she had seen a corpse when she heard the last line, but none compared to the look on Regulus' face. He looked proud, yet scared.
The boat creaked as Regulus flinched at the sound. He looks around, paranoia setting in but sighs when all he sees is endless blackness. He hears Kreature calling out to him.
"Master, the master must not drink the potion. Kreature shall drink it for master. The dark lord made Kreature drink the potion. The master must not face the painful potion."
The house elf kept muttering under his breath, making Regulus more nervous than he was. His breathing quickened as the boat neared the surface.
He noticed the basin with the locket covered by red liquid. He gulped at the blood-red liquid, knowing what it was.
Without looking at the elf, he asked.
"Did the dark lord ask you to empty the basin, Kreature?"
From the corner of his eyes, he saw Kreature nodding, staring at the ground. Regulus grabbed the goblet placed near the basin, taking a deep breath as he filled it with the potion.
"Whatever happens, Kreature, make sure I finish the potion. If I stop, force me to drink it. When it's done, take the locket and replace it. Destroy the locket. It's an order. No one should know what happened here tonight." he said, looking at his house elf for one last time. Kreature nodded helplessly.
"Regulus Arcturus Black! Have we not taught you anything? Why would you do that?" Malania Black just like her granddaughter was one terrifying woman who was a dueling champion. She loved all her grandchildren and seeing one of them nearing their death didn't bring her any peace.
"You can't blame me for something that hasn't happened yet!"
"Oh, you wait until we get home! You need a lecture on how to not dive head-first into danger" She glared at him. Regulus didn't dare look at his mother or Aunt Druella.
Gulping down the contents of the goblet, he shivered. The first time wasn't as bad as he had imagined, but the hallucinations crept in at the third goblet.
His knees quivered as he shook gently at disgust and the effect of his hallucinations. His hair was damp and stuck to his forehead, hiding his eyes as they darkened ever so slightly from their normal grey color.
Flashes of his worst memories surfaced. From torture to abuse and mental exhaustion.
He let a yell out, which made Kreature flinch in sorrow. The house elf stared at his master with tears glossing his eyes. Kreature watched as Regulus begged for the pain to stop but couldn't do anything.
"No! No stop! Stop it, leave him alone. " The cracked voice of Regulus echoed through the caves.
Sirius flinched and he wasn't the only one. Many in the hall flinched including Amalthea, Evan, and Ilaria who all knew what Regulus was hallucinating about.
The bowl was halfway done, and the worst of the hallucinations were yet to come. Regulus' knees gave out as he fell on his knees, arms shaking and tears falling freely.
"Just a little more, master," Kreature whispered, distraught as he saw the beaten look on the youngest Black brother.
Regulus choked out incomprehensible words, pain oozing from his face, his voice wore from the burning sensation of the potion.
Hair disheveled, arms and legs shaking, tears wetting his cheeks, Regulus Black was a mess. He had finished the potion, slumping down in relief.
"It's over, master."
He smiled weakly, eyes closing halfway as he tried to remain conscious.
"You can go, Kreature," he whispered, taking what little strength he had to give one last order to his loyal companion. The house elf looked to protest, but once he realized that this would be his last order.
"No don't leave him!" Sirius and Amalthea yelled in unison, it was the first time Sirius had spoken up since the movie began but he had tears running down his cheeks as he watched the present Regulus and the future Regulus.
Amalthea gripped Regulus' arms tightly, holding on to him as if he would disappear within her vision.
Catalina smiled sadly at the young Black heir, immense respect for him as she nodded at him.
"You are a brave man, and you have a very loyal friend" Both Regulus and Catalina knew that the friend mentioned is Kreature and Regulus couldn't be happier at Kreature being acknowledged as his friend.
The house elf in tears nods. He leaves with a pop, the real locket vanishing with him. He would remain devoted to his young master and obey every order.
Regulus' body was close to shutting down even if his mind was running a hundred miles per minute.
"You did it," he whispered to himself, and those were Regulus Black's last words before his eyes closed, body falling limp.
"I think you have a damaged head, little Black," James said nervously, looking at him with shock and awe at the same time.
Not much later, his body was being pulled into the water, one last picture flashing in his mind as his lips contorted into a smile.
Regulus Arcturus Black had turned grey in the Black family tapestry. Pronounced dead for the world to see, but the reason remained a mystery.
The Black family put their head down in grievance and mourning for Regulus, most of the hall following them. Amalthea's cheeks were wet from tears, which didn't seem like they were stopping.
The Black sisters all looked at Regulus in sorrow whereas Sirius looked heartbroken. He was hoping that the two of them had a good relationship before Regulus died. He didn't want their last words to be bitter.
Many made up their conclusions and one stuck. Regulus was murdered by Lord Voldemort because he was a coward who had backed out of the death-eaters initiative.
Regulus Black was far from a coward. He was and always would be an unsung warrior of a war that shouldn't have been fought by children.
Regulus was sure to have caught a whiplash from how fast he turned to face Catalina, the witch from the future.
"Did I get my redemption?" His voice was low, he was afraid to know the truth and a part of him did not want to know but he needed it.
"If you mean did anyone know the truth, then yes. You saved so many people with the information you had. Everything you found out and did in that cave played an important role in our war" she said, not lying at all as she remembered the search for the locket and finding the letter he wrote.
Regulus nodded in delight; he had done his job.
POTTER MANOR (UNPOLTABLE)
NOVEMBER 1979
Heads turned as the bride walked down the aisle, a soft smile on her face as she glanced at her groom.
"Are they trying to make us bloody bipolar?" Marlene grumbled, wiping away her tears to focus on the movie.
Lily smiled sadly at the Blacks, now wondering who was getting married.
She smiled as she watched her bridesmaid, maid of honor, and flower girl all walked before her. It was especially wide as she watched a baby Vivian Potter, being held by her mother, walking the aisle, throwing flowers.
"Potter? As in my daughter?" James perked up at the use of his surname, starting in awe at the picture of his daughter who looked adorable.
"Oh, she looks absolutely beautiful, Jamie!" Euphemia Potter clapped her hands at the sight of her granddaughter.
James noticed how his daughter had Asian features which meant that Lily most probably wasn't the mother, unless he adopted her.
Avalon smiled at her, nodding her head in reassurance as she helped her daughter.
"What the fuck? Me and Potter?" Avalon whisper yelled from her spot at the Hufflepuff table, everyone turning to look between the Potter and Song in disbelief.
Catalina winced at the small mistake and gap in the movie. She had completely forgotten to mention it in the movies but that was because no one had this particular memory.
"Little backstory because we didn't include it. Vivian Tasmyn Potter is born in December of 1978. She's a product of a one-night stand, Mr. Potter, Ms. Song. But you both are amazing co-parents and during the pregnancy, you two get close and form a platonic bond. Something like Sirius and James. Hope that makes sense" Catalina says in a sheepish tone as she mouths a 'sorry' for dropping the news that way.
James and Avalon nod, turning to each other, they both look happy and thrilled to have a child but at the same time look hesitant.
"So, you shag Avalon Song? Mate, she's like one of the prettiest girls here" Sirius squealed as he looked at the little girl on the screen.
"She's adorable, James. She has your eyes!" he continued, his eyes only on the baby girl.
Meeting him at the end of the aisle made her smile wider. Never had she thought that she would get married at such a young age. But the war made people take impulsive decisions, and this would probably be her best one.
They hadn't dated for long, they started dating during their last few days at Hogwarts, and now, being only nineteen Lily Evans, in all her glory, was going to marry the love of her life.
"Me? As in me, Lily Marie Evans?" Lily asked in shock, almost falling off the couch as she looked at her future counterpart in shock and confusion.
Lily never wanted to marry that young. She was only nineteen for Merlin's sake. Did she even date her future husband for a year?
James' shoulders drooped, which Sirius and Avalon both noticed, the latter feeling it was her fault. Avalon frowned, hoping that her having a child with James Potter was not the reason.
"Don't feel down, prongs. Maybe you're the groom" Sirius encouraged him, but it seemed like he was convincing himself.
She watched as her soon-to-be husband fidgeted with his fingers as his best man whispered into his ears. He looked happy when he spotted the little girl in Lilac, his eyes smiling and lips beaming at her.
Avalon's lips lifted into a smile as she realized Sirius seemed to also and they both exchanged happy looks. They both turned to Catalina who winked at them, confirming their suspicion. The two didn't know each other but if Avalon was having a child with a marauder, she needed to be prepared for the remaining marauders as well.
She could not ask for anything more beautiful. She only wished that her family could be here. She held out her hand, and it didn't take long before their hands met, standing next to each other as the wedding officiant stood before them with a smile.
"It makes me wonder why it takes the darkest of times for us all to unite for such a beautiful event." Ted looked at the bride and groom before turning his attention to Lily.
"As in me?" Ted Tonks said in shock. He didn't know Lily much so why was he her wedding officiant?
Andromeda on the other hand had pieced it together. She turned to look at James with a wide smile.
"Lily, when I first met you, I didn't expect you to end up marrying this toe rag as you so fondly call him. But I'm glad you finally said yes. You might as well straighten out his ego while you're at it."
Lily chuckled as she fondly looked at her fiancΓ©, who pouted at being called a 'toe rag'. Ted scoffs before turning towards James Potter.
Lily Evans stood up in shock, and Marlene McKinnon blinked twice in confusion, it seemed everyone was shocked but none more than James Potter who froze.
James received claps on his shoulders from his friends and Euphemia had already embraced Lily, welcoming her to the family, and then walked to Avalon pulled the girl to where they all were sitting.
"Finally got the girl, Potter!" Evan yelled out causing Amalthea to hit him in the head.
"Immature" she mumbled, shaking her head as Evan gave her a sheepish smile.
"I've known you for a long time, and I'd like to only say one thing, you finally get the girl, James,"
The wedding party laughs with Sirius' being the loudest. Remus and Peter smirk as they send James a smug look, which makes him moan out of embarrassment, but he gives Lily a triumphant look. He has finally got the girl.
James' eyes caught Avalon, who was smiling widely, a light smirk visible as she mockingly waved at him. He smiled back, Avalon was the reason he was standing here, marrying the girl he loved.
"And it took you only eight years, but, nevertheless. I know the two of you have chosen to write your vows, so let's hear them!"
James takes a deep breath before he turns to his bride, blown away that it wasn't a dream. He was standing next to her. He stutters slightly but with one reassuring smile and James Potter knows that he is a lucky man.
"Lily Marie Evans, you are the person I want to spend forever with. I love to hold you in my arms each night. You are the best thing about me. It took me eight years, but now I can finally say you're mine. Eight years ago, when I saw a little redhead with emerald, green eyes, I thought I was a fool falling for you. But I never knew that life could be a dream until I met you."
"That was beautiful" Lily whispered, happy tears falling as she hooks her arm with James'.
Euphemia beams at her son, he had grown up and in nearly two years, he would be married and would be a dad. She couldn't imagine how the time had flown past.
Lily chuckles with tears slipping past her eyes as she wipes them in a hurry before whispering, "How am I supposed to beat that?"
The crowd chuckles before Ted looks at Lily, urging her to speak her vows.
"You know I started writing this months ago, but goodness how they have changed in the past two days. You are my light, and you've shown me more love than I've ever known, James. I'm so glad you didn't give up on me all those years ago and because of you, I can feel myself slowly but surely becoming the me I have always dreamed of being" Lily finishes, a bright smile on her face as James wipes the stray tears that had cascaded down her cheeks.
"Well then, James, you may kiss your bride!"
The marauder didn't waste a second before his lips met hers, cheers and laughter came as Lily smiled into the kiss. She was now Lily Marie Evans-Potter.
After the ceremony, the couple and their close friends and families were inside the tent for the after-party and dinner when Sirius tapped his glass to gain attention, clearing his throat dramatically.
"Ladies, Gentlemen, and Marauders, it's been a beautiful day, but now it's time for the maid of honor and best man's speech!"
"I'm maid of honor" Marlene stubbornly admits causing Dorcas to scoff, "Sorry love, but Lily obviously chose me!"
Alice looked at them in shock, "It's obviously me!"
Mary shook her head before turning to Alice, "No Alice! We're the godmother to her children!"
"I'm obviously best man!" Sirius beams as he and James share a mischievous grin. He expects Remus and Peter to argue.
"Yes, you probably are" Remus shrugs before turning back to the movie.
Remus and Frank whistle as Marlene takes the stage, bowing dramatically as she winks at the married couple, "I met Lily and James in the Hogwarts Express for the first time.
"Fuck yes! Take that Meadows!"
A redhead who wanted to prove herself and an unruly-haired boy who just wanted to cause mischief. It's hard to believe that Lily caught James' eye because, for half of my Hogwarts days, I thought that Lily and James were the worst possible couple.
He would ask her out every other day, and she had the same answer every time. I truly don't know what changed, but one day Lily came to our dorm room, blushing, and when I asked her what happened, she said that James Potter had written her a letter. Now, I expected her to throw it away or burn it."
Marlene gave Lily a teasing smile and smirk before she continued, "But instead, she kept it in her little diary. A few weeks later Lily came up to Alice and me and told us that she was going on a date with James fucking Potter. Sorry Mrs. Potter.
Fast forward to one year, James called me to this cafe and asked me to accompany him to select a ring. You might not realize it, James, but that meant the world to me. Now the two of you are married and I want to say fucking finally."
Marlene sits down as she sends the Potter matriarch a silent apology for cursing. Euphemia chuckles, shaking her head at the blonde.
Fleamont pats Sirius' back motioning for him to start with his speech.
"Now, a few months back when Prongs told me that he was going to propose, I thought he was mad. They'd been dating for about a year, but it all made sense. They've known each other for years and if there's a couple that deserves it, it's you two.
Goodness Evans, you don't know how the boys and I suffered. It was always 'Lily likes that' or 'Lily smiled at me' or 'Lily's eyes!'
"It drove us mad each time" Remus shakes his head fondly, but Sirius glared at James as if accusing him.
It was driving us mad, but we love you, Prongs! I'm going to keep it short or else he'll probably cry. Welcome to the family, Evans!"
Claps and cheers resonated as Lily Potter smiled widely, James shedding a few tears at both Marlene and Sirius' speeches.
Fleamont tapped his glass, catching the attention of everyone sitting at the table.
"To a wonderful day and life, To Lily and James!"
LANCASTER MANOR
DECEMBER 1979
The screen showed a girl sitting on the floor, leaning against the wall, curled up in a ball. Her body was shaking, and she looked like she was crying.
Emerson and Nico both perked up at the location of the scene, both being very well versed with the manor. They looked at each other, then at Ilaria who also looked confused but curious.
Amalthea Black turns to her brother and Evan with a wince, "I should apologize soon" she whispered, a frown on her face.
Evan snorts, "You think? Why did you even punch without listening her side?"
Amalthea raises her hands in surrender, "those Ravenclaw bitches talked about how Lancaster said Sirius was a good for nothing bastard and a blood traitor who should have been disowned the moment he stepped into Gryffindor."
Regulus looked at her in disbelief and disappointment, "and you thought Emerson Lancaster of all people would say that?"
Amalthea ruffles her hair in a sheepish way, "I wasn't exactly thinking."
"You better apologize soon."
Her head lifted and she wiped away her tears, which were endless. Her elbows were bandaged and so were her legs. The bandages looked new and fresh, her shaking form calming down.
"You're a bloody Lancaster. Act like it" she mumbled, sitting up straight before getting up. Emerson Lancaster didn't look like her usual perfect self. She looked disheveled, not composed, and like a storm had hit her.
Nico and Ilaria both turned to the girl with narrowed eyes.
"I thought your episodes were over, Emerson."
The said girl winces at the use of her name, she looks at the couple in an unapologetic way.
"It's the future, Nico. I'm not having any, I take my meds."
Mentally and emotionally, she was drained, and it showed in her physical form. The Lancaster girl was walking down the hallways, the train of dried tear tracks visible on her face.
Her lips lifted into the tiniest smiles when she walked past the portraits of her ancestors, and she stopped when she was in front of her father's portrait.
"Good evening, papa" she greeted him, wiping off the speck of dust on his frame. The man in the portrait smiled at his daughter.
All occupants of the hall turned to the girl in pity and sympathy which she ignored. She didn't want anyone to know that she was raised by portraits, that was pathetic and now this movie was doing the job of telling everyone. She wasn't happy.
"Good evening, Emmie! How are you, darling?"
Emerson's smile dropped at the question which Edmund Lancaster noticed immediately. He gave her an encouraging look, assuring her that she could talk about anything with him.
Emerson sighs, her shoulders dropping, as she pinches the bridge of her nose.
"Papa, how did you know you loved Mama?" she asked, never having heard the story. Her father's eyes gloss with nostalgia and fondness as he hums.
"Your mama and I met at a gala, much like you and that lover boy of yours. She was heavenly and I was mesmerized. We didn't get off to a good start. Edelie was in a relationship, and I was way off her league" he chuckled in remembrance and Emerson's smile appeared and it was the first time that day she was genuinely smiling.
The way Nico Winters eyes darkened and Ilaria Fontaine lit up were enough for Emerson to look at them in confusion.
"Is something wrong?" she asked, tilting her head slightly as she watched the two with opposite reactions look at her.
"I need to have a word with this lover boy of yours" Nico mutters darkly as Ilaria slaps his arm, she looks excited as she gushes.
"I cannot wait to see who you date in the future."
"Our families were acquainted, and she came to a gala your grandparents held. She looked upset and had isolated herself on the balcony and I accidentally ran into her, but she was crying. I suppose that's when we hit off and she started noticing me."
Emerson's mother, Edelie Fairmont was a beautiful woman with honey-blonde hair and the prettiest blue eyes she had ever seen. The young girl didn't remember her parents much because they died when the girl was only six.
"I miss you and Mama," she said, smiling sadly at the portrait of her father, who looked at his daughter affectionately.
"We miss you too, little Emmie. Now where is our little star?" he asked, cheekily as he eyes his daughter who laughs in good humor.
"Who?" The question wasn't quiet, Emerson had let out a yell at the way her father had phrased it. She wasn't ready for motherhood and that too at such a young age.
Whilst both Nico and Ilaria looked happy, Emerson was pale and slightly dizzy.
"Attie is with her father. Sirius insisted on taking Attie to the Potters to visit Vivian."
If that wasn't enough to shock Emerson, this newfound information was her tipping point. The poor girl's eyes were as wide as saucers as she stared at Sirius Black.
Sirius choked on air as he turned to a nearby couch where Emerson, Nico and Ilaria were sitting. He couldn't hear the excited voices of James or Remus. His eyes were glued at one of the prettiest girls he had ever seen, and he couldn't take them off.
"Me and Black? Excuse me? My baby daddy is the guy whose sister punched me?"
Amalthea winces at the loud proclamation as her parents and family turn to her. Regulus held a huge smile on his face as he looked at Sirius, who was frozen in his place.
"I think we should continue watching" the amused voice of Minerva McGonagall cuts through the two teenagers' endless thoughts.
Catalina found it amusing that whenever something surprising happened, they turned to her hoping that she would confirm it. She winked at the two before leaning back into her seat.
"If it is any consolation, Attie is a wonderful girl. Extremely dramatic and is a magnet for trouble."
Sirius beamed as Emerson blushed at being winked at by Sirius Black.
As if on cue, the fireplace lit up indicating that someone was home which caused Emerson to excuse herself to check on who it was.
"Why if it isn't my lovely girlfriend! Doesn't Mama look beautiful, Attie?" Sirius Black asked his baby girl, who was nestled in his arms, facing Emerson who crossed her arms in amusement.
Sirius dusts himself and their daughter off any soot and presses a kiss to his girlfriend's forehead. Emerson takes Atria from Sirius, removing her shoes as the two parents make goofy faces at each other.
"Oh, she's precious" Emerson mumbles in shock and awe as she watches her daughter, who looked a lot like Sirius even though she looked only months old.
She could faintly hear Walburga Black squeal and had to blink to process that she had a child with Sirius Black and Sirius Black was her boyfriend in the future.
"How's Lily? It's surprising how so many people are expecting the coming year" Emerson laughs as Sirius tickles the two-month-old Atria who giggles in her father's arms.
"Atria is a beautiful name" Sirius nods his head in agreement with his future self who chose the name.
"Yeah, I did a good job with it."
Emerson narrows her eyes at him, "what if I named her?" She questions, not liking him assuming things that concerned them both.
Sirius cocked his head towards her, a smirk playing on his face, "because it's my family tradition to name children after astrology, love."
Emerson scoffed, "if it were up to you, she probably would have some repetitive name like Lyra, Celeste or Cassiopeia!"
James makes a humming sound as Amalthea and Regulus both nod along with Emerson.
"She's got a point, mate."
Sirius pouts, causing Remus to pat his head like he would padfoot.
Sirius wiggles his eyebrow at Emerson to which she shakes her head, "Absolutely not, Sirius Orion Black! I just gave birth, and I don't want to be pregnant any time soon."
The manchild she called her boyfriend pouts before making puppy eyes which Emerson hoped her daughter did not inherit. Sirius gives up when he sees her firm stand. Maybe in the next two years.
"We'll have four new additions! Oh, imagine the four new ones and Attie going to school together!" Sirius sighed dreamily, causing Emerson to look at him weirdly. They had shifted to the family room with Atria calmly watching her parents from her purple crib.
"Ilaria is due very soon, then it's Lily and Alice. That's a lot of kids. I heard Narcissa is pregnant too."
James looked over the moon as he pulled Lily into a hug. His eyes wide as they turn glassy. The surprise fades from Lily's face as she wraps her own arm around him.
"Thank you so much" he whispers so only she hears and Lily's heart melts at that.
"We'll be great parents" she promises, willing to do anything for her child and Vivian.
Avalon looks nearly as happy as the couple expecting as she claps her hand in awe, "Vivi will have a baby brother or sister!"
On the other side Ilaria turns to Nico with a frown. They had always talked about kids, but she didn't know if he would be happy. Nico's face was void of any emotion and it scared Ilaria, but it vanishes when he whispers.
"We're having a child! I know we planned on having children in our late twenties, but I don't regret it at all" He sounded happy, and Ilaria lets out a sigh of relief, kissing him on the lips as she lets a tear fall.
"Our baby" she whispered, still in shock.
Sirius made a face at Narcissa's name, but Emerson saw the smile in his eyes and the way they lit up. The Malfoy couple had been married for nearly six years and had no luck in the parental department. Sirius knew how Narcissa longed for a child so he was elated but he wouldn't show that.
The entire Black family and Malfoy family turned to Narcissa, her eyes wide and one hand on her stomach, shock evident on her face as Druella smiled at her youngest daughter.
"I'm going to be a mother!" she says, her voice an octave higher as Sirius nods.
"A mini Cissa! That would be adorable. We need playdates scheduled."
"A Black, Malfoy, Potter, Longbottom, and the Winters in one batch, I feel for Minnie" Sirius shuddered at the thought but he was excited for the time when all these kids would depart for their first year.
Emerson laughed, "It's almost like a Black family reunion. The Winters babies are family friends of the Blacks, baby Longbottom has a grandma who was a Black, and baby Potter has a Black as his Great aunt. Everyone's related to you Blacks."
Sirius barked out a laugh but looked sheepish, "We are purebloods who love purebloods."
Melania scoffs and glares at her husband, "We surely love purebloods."
The screen faded with Emerson and Sirius making fun of each other and baby Attie giggling at her parents' antics.
CARROW MANOR
APRIL 1980
Amalthea Black had been kidnapped from her bed in school to the Carrow Manor by the Carrow twins, Alecto and Amycus. Her pajamas did not provide the warmth she needed as she stood captive in the Carrow dungeons.
"What?" Her voice was low, but the entire hall had heard Amalthea, the entire Black families gaze shifting to their youngest member.
"They kidnapped the youngest of us. The Carrows dare to harm her?" Walburga was whispering, murmuring to herself as she watched her only daughter chained on the screen.
The entire family had watched Regulus die, now Amalthea was in danger, and they felt helpless.
Sirius' eyes darkened and his fists clenched, knuckles turning white as he noted down the names of everyone present there, everyone hurting his sister.
"Why am I here, Alecto?" she asked, annoyed at the Carrow girl who only kept giving her excited and smug looks. And every time she asked the question, she was told that the dark lord wanted to meet her.
The Grand doors were opened as the Dark Lord emerged, and behind him came a few deaths eaters Amalthea didn't know. None of them were from her or her extended family which confused her.
Didn't Bellatrix, Lucius, Rodolphus, or Narcissa know she was held captive?
"Of course they didn't tell us! Those bloody imbeciles. I will torture each one of them" Bellatrix cackled, a smirk forming on her face as she met the eyes of her cousin, she raised a brow at the manic look in his eyes.
Oh, this would be a good family bonding time, hunting down their enemies.
Amalthea's eyes widened as she noticed a very injured Ilaria Fontaine being dragged into the dungeons behind the dark lord. Amalthea struggled to release herself from the binds and to get close to Ilaria who was hardly conscious.
Ilaria's face paled, her breathing panicked as she leaned closer to Nico, a thousand thoughts running through her mind but all of them revolved around her future children and the boy next to her.
"What did you do to her?" Amalthea asked, her voice shaky as she tried calling Ilaria.
"A few dozen crucio curses, she's a strong one and didn't break but I'm not sure she can hold on" Amycus snickered causing Amalthea's blood to boil.
The dark lord moved closer to Amalthea, his fingers tracing her jaw and chin, but she jerked away, uncomfortable from his presence.
"The youngest Black! I wanted you in my ranks but your whole family wishes to keep you away from my ranks."
"For a bloody good reason! She is sixteen" Druella says harshly, agitated by the so called Dark Lord, who has all of them under his false pretense.
She realized why her cousins, and their husbands weren't there. If they knew that Amalthea was being held captive they would freak out and cause mayhem.
"What do you want from me?" she asked calmly, looking him in the eye. She was a Black and blacks didn't bow down to anyone.
"Where is Regulus Black? Why did he betray our initiative?"
Amalthea sneered at him, "My brother is dead! He died months ago, and you dare to ask me where he is? How the hell am I supposed to know why he betrayed your cult?"
Amalthea's hand found Regulus'; she was reminding herself that her brother was alive. He wasn't dead yet. She squeezes his palm, her breathing uneven as she feels him squeeze back in reassurance.
Voldemort moved away from her, pushing her onto the ground. He motioned for one of his death eaters, who dragged Ilaria onto the front.
"Leave her alone, you bastard!" she yelled at the death eater. Panic filled her as she remembered Isaac and Emery, who deserved to have their mother with them.
"Fontaine here too gave the same answer as you. She also refuses to give away where Evan Rosier and his family are hiding. I'll ask you, where is Evan Rosier?"
"Just tell them" Evan whispered, scared for their lives. He didn't know why he was in hiding or what he had done but he didn't want Ilaria and Amalthea to die for him.
"I'm no snitch, Evan" Amalthea smirked. She had come to accept her fate. If she was going to die, then she would take any information she had to her grave.
As everyone paid attention to the screen, Catalina's eyes were set on Ilaria and Nico. Both froze in their spot. Ilaria's hands were shaking, and they both stared at the screen.
"You have twins. Emery Theadora Winters and Isaac Regan Winters were born on the fourteenth of February, nearly two months before Ilaria was kidnapped." She was looking at the couple as she talked, Ilaria's eyes were red from the unshed tears.
"They have beautiful names" she smiled and turned back to the screen, wanting to see what would happen to her.
Amalthea shook her head, refusing to talk. Amycus walked to where she was standing and muttered.
"Crucio!"
Amalthea screamed as she fell to the floor, pain flooding her as she writhed in pain. It didn't stop as Voldemort questioned her again.
"I'll ask again, Amalthea. Where is Evan Rosier?"
"I'd rather die than tell you!" she spat out, determined not to snitch where Evan and Isis were hiding.
"Crucio!"
The yell was worse than the last time. Her scream echoed through the manor causing the death eaters to exchange nervous glances. They were torturing the Black princess and if anyone from the Black family had got to know they would all be dead.
This time Voldemort brought Ilaria forward. Amalthea hadn't noticed but he asked her again, his wand pointed at Ilaria. Her eyesight was blurry from the crucial curse.
"Now, will you tell me where Evan Rosier is hiding?"
With a shaky breath and unstable voice, the Black girl answered with a laugh, "Never."
"So be it then."
All Amalthea could see was the body of Ilaria Fontaine falling limp and numb, her eyes unmoving and Amalthea screamed in horror and anger.
Silence. No one talked as they watched Ilaria's body fall to the ground. Amalthea's screams echoed through the room, and no one dared to look at the two girls.
"Welcome to the world of the dead" Regulus says, a smile breaks out on Ilaria's face as she chuckles. The sound puts Nico at ease. It was his favorite sound.
She tried getting up but from the few curses she had taken, her legs were wobbly.
"You bastard! Do you think the Black and Fontaine family will leave you alone? They'll hunt you down" she yelled.
The death eaters exchanged yet another nervous look and gulped as they thought of the combined power of Black and Fontaine.
"You won't live to tell them the tale, Amalthea Black."
Amalthea looked at every death eater in bewilderment. These were the same people who followed Bellatrix like puppies. Most of them wanted to marry her or Regulus to be in the Black family.
They refused to meet her eye and Amalthea scoffed.
"You will learn that the House of Black is not to be underestimated. You might make up some crap lies to cover our deaths, but they will know one day."
"You tell them, Thea!" Evan yells, a blush forming on Amalthea's face as she punches his arm in annoyance.
"And right you are, Amalthea. The House of Black is not to be underestimated" Arcturus Black adds, his glare hardening at the Carrows and the dark lord through the screen. His jaw clenched as he looked at his son and nodded at him.
The dark lord aims his wand at Amalthea, who stares him down with hatred and a glare. He is taken aback by her glare but yells out the two words leaving Amalthea to die a quick death.
The death eaters look away and a few of them bow down for her. But Amalthea and Ilaria were dead and all of them were the cause of it.
"Guess I'm joining your club" Amalthea shrugs, shaking her hand with her brother as she leans back into her seat. She was glad that her part in the movies was done. It felt weird seeing herself on the screen.
"Mate, I want to join the club!"
"Are you suicidal, Evan?"
