part twenty one.

𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐘

"Why do you always feel the need to meddle in everyone else's business?" I ask Cal as we work our way through the busy streets of London, desperately trying to stay out of sight as all we went out for was a quick bite to eat.

"I'm sorry, I didn't realise I was in the wrong." Cal mumbles under his breath, picking up the pace.

When he commented on Mia's post, the amount of DM's I got asking if there was something going on with us was astronomical. All people do nowadays is question people's love life. These fans claim to love you, yet make your life a miserable hell unknowingly. It's extremely annoying.

"I'm sick and tired of being interrogated about feelings that aren't even there!" I mutter, falling into step with Cal who had abruptly turned a corner to avoid my wrath.

"Yeah, but I don't understand the big deal, it was just a joke. How was I supposed to know your DM's would be flooded, are they not like that everyday?"

"Well, yeah. But even so, I would much rather avoid her name being all over my instagram."

"Harry, mate. I think it's time you stop wallowing in your own self pity and move on. This conversation has been going back and forth throughout all of lunch." Ethan finally speaks up after a long while, patting my back in a friendly matter, attempting to lighten the mood.

Sighing lightly, I nod in agreement. These poor boys must be so tired of my constant complaining yet I can't seem to get out of this mindset. Slowing down the pace back into a leisurely walk, the small talk begins again.

"Would you rather talk to your future or past self for 1 minute?" Ethan questions, shutting off his phone after searching 'questions to ask in awkward silence.' I silently laugh, amused by his sudden antics.

"Is there any rules to this?" Cal questions, using his thumb and forefinger to stroke his imaginary beard.

"Rules? What do you mean by rules? You sound like Harry overthinking every minor detail." Ethan laughs back.

"Thanks mate," I mumble.

"No problem 'mate'," he chuckles, clearly amused by my grogginess.

"When I say rules, I mean something like back to the future. You know when he sees his past self and accidentally passes on future information and it changes the course of his life."

"Ohhh. I see, I see. But no, no rules or anything like that it would just simply be you and yourself."

As Cal spends an unnecessary amount of time thinking, we eventually find ourselves outside our apartment building.

"Cal, can you actually hurry the fuck up I want to sit down. You have been thinking for half an hour." I grumble, stomping towards the front door of the tall building.

"Sorry, moody. I'm just trying to make sure my answer is worthy of this amazing question."

"But its not an amazing question, that's the problem. Ethan got it off of google."

"Okay then, why don't I call Mia and see what she answers with, I'm sure she will think its an amazing question." He smirks in remark, slowly reaching for his phone to taunt me.

"No, no, that's not necessary, I'm sure you can work this one out on your own." I quickly stutter, fearing that this prick will actually press the call button.

"Fine, if i must," He drags out his words for an unnecessary amount of time, "I'd much rather talk to my past self, I would be able to guide them through the pain and suffering." He eventually answers, looking extremely smug.

"What pain and suffering? Your literally an extremely successful youtuber..?" I question.

"Don't you worry Harry, don't you worry." He winks at me.

"Don't get me wrong, I'm finding this extremely amusing but that was the most anticlimactic thing I've ever witnessed." Ethan barks out laughing, resulting in Cal's smirk to turn into a frown.

"Your face right now is priceless," I laugh out, reaching for my phone snapping a quick picture of Cal before returning it back into the warmth of my back pocket.

"Is Mia home?" Ethan asks, suddenly looking awkward and shuffling on his feet.

"No, why?" Cal and me answered at the same time. To avoid suspicion, I continue, "She's been out all day with Talia."

"Oh, okay." Ethan smiled, "Well, I'm gonna head off now, see you boys." He waved before turning around and walking off, reaching for his airpods that were evidently tucked away in his coat pocket.

"Oh, Cal I almost forgot! How long do I need to pack for?" Ethan shouts, doing a 180 degree swivel.

"Pack for what?" I question, scrunching my face up in confusion. I look over at Cal who seems to be silently communicating with Ethan using facial expressions. "Cal?" I ask, tapping his shoulder, "Your eyes look like they are about to pop out of your head." I laugh, still confused about what they are talking about.

After a few awkward moments of silence, Cal turned around to face me. His hands are conjoined in front of his stomach and he has an insincere smile on his face.

"May I help you?" I question.

"Harry, would you please follow me inside?" He said, holding his hand up like he is a butler and I was entering a five star hotel.

"What are you doing..?" I ask.

"Nothing, just escorting you into your humble abode!" He smiles much too sweetly for my liking.

"Okay..." I say, following his outstretched arm into the ground floor of our apartment block.

As I step through the doors, they immediately shut snd Cal is running towards a worried looking Ethan. As I stand watching them chase each other around the pathway in front of our building something bumps into me from behind.

"Oh my god I'm so sorry I wasn't looking where I was going!" I hear a squeaky voice from behind me before I turn around and see a petite brunette knelt down picking up her belongings that had fallen out of her purse due to the contact.

"Mia? I thought you were out." I question, bending down to help her pick up her things, almost forgetting to keep my distance.

"Mia? I'm not Mia." She scoffs, disgust evident on her face.

"Oh, sorry. You look similar to someone I know." I awkwardly chuckle, suddenly feeling uncomfortable talking to this woman. I quickly stand up, putting my hand behind my head and awkwardly playing with my hair as if it were some sort of reflex.

"Oh, you know Mia?" She questions, standing up with me and putting her bag back in its rightful place on her shoulder.

"Yeah..? How do you know Mia?" I stutter, somehow even more confused than I was a few moments ago.

She laughs and puts her hand on my shoulder before answering, "I'm her sister, silly."

"Oh, I see. I didn't know she had a sister." I say, slowly taking her hand off of my shoulder and placing it back down to her waist.

"Well you obviously don't know her very well then do you, we are extremely close." She winks at me, chuckling lightly and flicking her hair away from her shoulder.

"Yeah, right." I say, eager to get out of this situation. "Well, I better go, Cal won't be long." I force a smile before I attempt to walk past her. Unsurprisingly, she blocks my way and carries on the conversation.

"Ugh, Cal. I was hoping not to run into him while I was here." She scoffs, bringing her unnecessarily long acrylics to her face and inspecting them like they are a pot of gold.

"Why?" I question but immediately regret it after I see the upmost disgust written all over her features.

"Because he's a horrible man. Always has been. When we were growing up he was constantly horrible to me for absolutely no reason. He even gave me this scar!" She whines, lifting up her skirt higher than necessary and showing me the scar on her kneecap.

"Right, I'm sorry about that." I respond, unsure about in which way I can end this. Either politely or just running away. I think running away is the easier option.

"Oh, no that's fine, it's not your fault is it now." She waves, exaggerating her hand gestures.

Just as I'm about to make a run for it, the door behind me slams open and a soaking wet Cal makes an appearance next to me.

"Oh my god what happened!" I bark out a laugh, inspecting his drenched clothes and dripping hair.

"Ethan poured water all over me while i was chasing him through tescos." He sulks, ringing out his t-shirt and taking off his soggy shoes. "So, why are you still-" He begins before stopping in his tracks and staring up at the girl in front of me. "What in gods name is she doing here?" He points at her, looking at me with a face of concern.

"I don't know, we bumped into each other as she was attempting to exit the building." I shrug.

"I was looking for Mia, and hello to you too Cal." She smiles an insanely fake smile, but at least she tried. Unlike Cal on the other hand, who just grunted in response and turned back to me.

"Let's go Harry, before Ethan comes back with his keys to our apartment and shanks me." He ushers me to follow him.

"Well, I better be off aswell. I have a hair appointment I can't be late for." The brunette adds, moving around us and half opening the door.

"Good for you." Cal scoffs as she glides past us in her heels.

"Oh, and if you see Mia, tell her I was looking for her." She smiles before taking a step out of the door. "Oh, and also tell her to stop having so many men round. Her apartment is really beginning to stink. She's always been somewhat of a slag." She has the audacity to chuckle after her previous statement.

Before me or Cal get the chance to say anything, she is already out of the door and swiftly making her way across the street.

"I'm gonna kill her." Cal says, turning as red as a tomato.

"Cal, calm down." I say, dragging him towards the lift.

I turn around and see the woman who had just left our building rubbing her arms as she continues her walk towards the tube.

"Is she not going to be cold?" I question, tilting my head as I watch her.

"Good. I hope she freezes to death." Cal scoffs.

"How lovely." I drawl.

"Are you seriously more worried about her being cold than what she just said about Mia?" Cal stares at me bluntly, a disappointed expression on his face.

I keep quiet, not wanting to respond to that accusation.

He just scoffs in response, before stepping into the open lift and pressing the button for our floor.

We stand in silence for a few moments, before I hear a sarcastic chuckle coming from the giraffe on my left.

"Whats so funny?" I question.

"Oh, nothing. Just classic old Harry." He laughs.

"What do you mean by that?" I question as we enter our apartment building.

"The fact that you don't know what I mean says everything." He shouts from across the apartment, slamming his door behind him as he enters his bedroom.

So I just go back to what I do best, wallowing in my own self pity in the comfort of our living room sofa, paying no mind to Cals statement.

Except that I couldn't, because what that girl said about Mia kept playing through my head, making me feel incredibly guilty for not saying anything.

Instead of letting my thoughts take over, i beat the overthinking and pick up my phone, immediately pressing WhatsApp and beginning to type.

If anything is going to happen, I have to make the effort.
