The last two years have probably been the best Cassie has ever had. Even if the first time with the baby and a toddler was stressful, she hadn't regretted a second of it and wouldn't want it any other way⸺ and Happy felt the same way.
That he would ever have his own family, an Old Lady and kids at that was something he never dreamed of, yet he loved every single second of his life. Five years ago he probably would have shaken his head and thought the others were crazy if they had told him that he would have a family of his own in the future.
But now his first priority was his family and they were at the top, then the club came. Here in Tacoma everyone of his brothers understood that⸺ which made things a lot easier. Happy had enough quality time with his wife, his two kids and Opie and yet he and his small family spent enough time at the club, too. They had found the perfect balance.
Twice a year they visited Charming for a week to visit James, Benny, Lyla and their children. And James also came to Tacoma twice a year with his family. This way they saw each other at least four times a year for a few weeks. It didn't sound like much, but it was better than nothing. And they had phones, it wasn't like they lived in the middle ages. Benny often stopped by when he found time and didn't have to work.
As with Lily, who would soon be starting her first year at school, the now eighteen year old had also formed close bonds with his sister's kids and was probably the best uncle Callum and Rosie could wish for.
After Rosalie Lowman was born a year and a half ago, Happy's and Cassie's marriage only grew stronger, becoming even more intimate and better than it already was before, and unlike Callum, who was a momma's boy, Rosie was a total daddy's girl.
“Buddy, hug your sister, I wanna take a nice picture”, Cassie, with a camera in her hand, beamed at the toddler who sat at the bottom of the stairs in his cute bat costume giving her the widest smile.
Rosie, who was a good mix of Happy and Cassie with her dark brown, almost black hair and those pretty green eyes, toddled towards her brother. Her legs wide apart as she seemed to hesitate between each step she made. The girl only learned to walk a few weeks ago and was still being careful. But then there were days when the toddler didn't care at all and ran through the whole house, not caring a bit when she stumbled over her own feet or lost balance and fell.
“Come here, Rosie”, Callum's sweet voice called out for her, his arms held open making the little girl smile at him, revealing the few teeth she already had.
“Good job, pumpkin”, Cassie complimented her daughter, who was wearing a ladybug costume, as she reached her brother and plopped down next to him on the stairs, making Rosie's smile widen as if she understood perfectly well what her mother was saying.
After Cassie snapped a few pictures that she would definitely print out and hang up next to all the other family pictures, Callum jumped up and ran over to his mom to jump in her arms hug her, which he always did out of nowhere.
With a chuckle Cassie caught the boy, put down her camera and rubbed his back. “Are you ready to go on candy tour? Daddy, Uncle Kozik and Aunt Jenna should be there soon, then we can go.”
“Can we go now?” The little boy wriggled excitedly in his mother's arms, impatiently waiting until they could finally go trick or treating.
“We're just waiting⸺”, Cassie was cut off as the door swung open and Rosie waddled toward her daddy with a gleam in her eyes.
“Daddy!” The little girl exclaimed happily and was picked up only a moment later by Happy who planted a kiss on the top of her head between her pigtails as he walked towards his wife and son.
“Now we can go”, the toddler giggled as Happy ruffled his hair and wriggled himself out of Cassie's arms before running towards the door waiting like a good boy, Opie was immediately by his side.
“How long has he been this excited?”, Happy asked with a grin, pulling Cassie closer with his hand on her waist. He took a moment to kiss her, give her the attention she deserved after a long day alone with the kids. He would never get enough of her lips on his, no matter how long they were married.
“Ever since I allowed him to put the costume on, which was three hours ago”, she told him with a chuckle. Satisfied, the brunette hummed and nestled her cheek against his calloused hand, which was now resting on it. Happy ran his thumb over her cheekbones making her sigh again. “Are Kozik and Jenna coming too?”
“They're already waiting outside”, he grumbled against her lips before stealing another kiss from them. Then he eyed his wife up and down, who looked fucking hot as usual and once the kids were in bed tonight he would take of care of her needs.
“I know that look”, she murmured, smirking. Okay, with her short black dress that perfectly hugged her curves, the black overknee boots and her legs covered only by black thighs with a nice pattern, she intended to look extra good today. The last few days had been a bit stressful and tonight she wanted to spend some quality time with her husband, that's why she chose that outfit knowing it would get him in the mood.
“You're making it hard for me to bend you over right away and fuck you hard. But I'll take what I want later”, he rasped in his deep, gravelly voice against her ear. She could almost feel the grin on his lips as she swallowed audibly at the thought of what Happy was going to do to her later.
“Great, now I can't concentrate on anything else anymore”, she mumbled pouting, causing a deep laugh to rumble through his chest. Oh how she loved it hearing him laugh, especially that kind of laugh.
“Mommy, Daddy!” Callum was bouncing up and down impatiently, his basket, that looked like a pumpkin, already in his hands while he kept patting Opie's head.
“Maybe we should go”, Happy winked, putting his babbling daughter on the floor and helped her putting on her pink boots and coat since it was a bit cold outside at the end of October.
“We should”, Cassie agreed with a laugh, handing Callum his jacket as well, before putting on her own coat, which was almost as long as the dress.
Callum stuck his tongue out with effort as he slipped on his jacket and then his shoes which looked really cute. Sometimes he still needed help, but he could do most of it on his own already.
The brunette glanced at Happy, who looked proudly at his son and gently ruffled his hair after the toddler was done dressing. And he had done it all by himself. Even the shoes were on the right foot this time.
“You did great, buddy”, he complimented the boy. It was important to Happy that his kids would grow up with praise. The SAA never wanted to be like his own father who would yell at his kids or even hit them. He'd rather put a bullet in his own head before raising them like this.
Cassie's heart leaped at the sight. Seeing Happy with their kids, how lovingly he treated them and that he was always there for them both showed her that she had made the right decision years ago. Getting involved with Happy, choosing to keep her kids⸺ all of these were the best decisions she had made in her life.
“Thanks Daddy”, the almost three year old beamed proudly and happily waddled outside after Happy opened the door for him.
Kozik and Jenna, who had just arrived with Happy earlier, were already waiting there. A year ago, Kozik finally had the courage to ask Jenna out and they were now even engaged.
Happy held Rosie's hand, one of his fingers clasped tightly as she walked beside him, his free arm draped loosely around Cassie's shoulder after he locked the door behind them. Smirking, he looked at his son, who was thrown into the air by Kozik and caught again, which made the two year old laugh out loud.
“Hey you two”, Cassie smiled and greeted them both with a warm hug before leaning back into Happy's side.
“I hope you're ready for a long tour. We need a lot of sweets to eat afterwards”, the blonde grinned. Kozik loved Halloween at least as much as the children and it showed.
“That's why he's the fun uncle”, Happy grunted, just shaking his head with a smirk plastered on his face.
“As long as he's watching the kids while they're on a sugar high he's welcome to give them some”, Cassie chuckled, wrapping an arm around Happy's waist which in turn pulled her tighter into his side, almost protectively.
“Don't worry, we'll take care of those two if they ate too much candy because of us”, Jenna said with a grin. She knew her boyfriend by now and knew that he couldn't say no to Callum and Rosie. And neither could she.
With a smile, she took Rosie in her arms, who giggled as the blonde tickled her stomach.
“Come on guys, we have to go before the others take everything away from us!” Kozik didn't wait, marching ahead with Callum holding his hand and Opie excitedly walking alongside them, his tail wagging.
Jenna joined him with Rosie in her arms, giving Cassie and Happy a moment together. Humming contentedly, Happy wrapped his wife in a short but demanding kiss before he slowly followed the others, always keeping an eye on his children. Even though he knew they were safe with Kozik, the killer had a hard time letting his kids out of his sight.
His protective instincts has only gotten ten times worse and stronger since becoming a father and he didn't care if he was annoying at times⸺ his family's safety always came first.
“Was everything okay at the club earlier?”, she asked when they had the moment to themselves. They could still hear the kids giggles but otherwise all they could hear was the rustle of leaves beneath their feet as they walked down the quiet street. The next houses wouldn't show up for the next ten minutes.
“Everything's fine, don't worry, little girl”, he assured her, looking down at her, the smallest smile on his lips.
“What?”, she asked humming as he looked at her so lovingly, a sweet smile on her lips.
“I rarely tell you how proud I am of you for being the best Old Lady and mother the kids could wish for”, he said suddenly, his voice calm and yet so demanding. “I just want you to know how grateful I am for all you do for me and the kids.”
The brunette stopped in her tracks, one hand tentatively resting on his chest, which was covered by a flannel shirt and his kutte. “Is really everything okay, baby? You know you don't have to tell me this all the time. I know you're grateful and so am I, without you this life that we have now wouldn't be possible.”
Which was true. Right now, Happy was responsible for supporting the family and bringing the money home while she was staying at home with the kids⸺ and she was eternally grateful that he made that possible for her. But she also knew that it was exactly what Happy wanted, even though he would accept it if she wanted to go back to work someday.
“You know I'd do anything for you and our kids, little girl”, he rasped gravely, running his fingers through her long waves, then resting his hand on the back of her neck, his thumb under her chin so he could lift her head and look into hed beautiful green eyes. “I love you, Cassie.”
“I love you too, Happy, more than anything”, she whispered with a smile, clearly touched by his words. “You, the kids and Opie. That's all I need.”
His gaze was so intense that she had to bite her lip. She knew that the few words meant more than others could believe. Happy didn't have to make endless declarations of love to her or constantly tell her how great he thought she was and how much he loved his family. His actions spoke more than a thousand words and she was sure that there was no better person than him in this world and she hoped for more decades together with him, until at some point they would sit on the porch with gray hair and watch their own grandchildren play.

authors note; so, this is it. To be honest, ending this story makes me actually sad and breaks my heart a little. 😪
It was my favorite story to write and Cassie became my absolute favorite OC character and I wish I could just continue. But I don't wanna drag it out and make it boring for my readers. BUT; keep this story in your library for updates. I may write a sequel in the future and I'd let y'all know in an extra chapter here. Nothing's set in stone yet and I won't promise anything.
Would you guys even be interested in a future sequel? If so, please leave a comment and maybe even tell me what you'd like to see happening in the sequel.
Thank you to everyone for reading, commenting and feeling with the characters. I appreciate every single vote and comment! 🖤
