It was half a year later when Happy decided it was time to build a small playground for his son in their garden. He didn't care that Callum was still too small to use most of the things he planned to build together with Kozik and Lee but with Cassie's or his help his boy would be able to use it anyway. And the other club members kids could use it too when they came over.

He had already bought enough wood and had it spread out and arranged on the grass in front of him. He would start with the little house with a swing hanging next to it. Before that, however, he glanced at his wife, who was sitting on a blanket with Callum and playing with him.

Seeing and hearing how happy she was made him smile every time. And the way his son looked up at his mom, a smile on his face every time she spoke to him, was honestly all he needed to be happy.

In general, everything was a lot more relaxed here. He didn't have to go on runs with the club as often, so he could spend more time with his family. There were no enemies here, at least none that posed a real threat, and the bond with his brothers here was just different, deeper. And Cassie really thrived here too. And so was his boy.

Happy still laughed to himself every time he thought back to the moment when Callum saw snow for the first time. He loved just sitting in it with Opie playfully shoveling snow with his paws. Callum beaming every time snow flew on his face was unforgettable. And he was only four/five months at that time.

But now that it slowly started to get warmer he wanted to get this project done so his son could make more core memories, which was important for the Killer. No matter how much his Ma had to work when he was still little because his father bailed on them, she always made sure to give him the best memories and he remembered most of them to this day. That's exactly what he wanted for Callum.

โ€œHappy! Look!โ€ Around half an hour later his wife's loud, excited voice made him look up quickly and snap his head in her direction.

โ€œWhat?โ€, he rasped, putting down the screwdriver before wiping his hands on his jeans. โ€œWhat the fuck. Is this normal for his age?โ€

With a proud look on his face he walked over to them and crouched down in front of his son watching him crawl over the blanket. From time to time Callum let out a strained sigh and they could see that he was making an effort. But he did it damn well and crawled towards Happy with a big smile. Bursting with pride, the tattooed biker exchanged a look with his wife, who couldn't smile wider.

โ€œHe's crawling! I can't believe itโ€, she exclaimed proudly and Happy watched her snatch her phone real quick to get it on video so both of them could watch it over and over again. โ€œAnd yeah, I think it's the perfect age..but I'm not sure.โ€

โ€œIt doesn't matter, he's doing greatโ€, Happy smirked and let Callum crawl towards him before he picked him up and ran his calloused hand over his boy's head that was full of dark hair. He was only seven month old and Happy had no idea if that was the normal age for babies to start crawling but he was proud as hell.

โ€œHe's getting so bigโ€, Cassie pouted before letting out a soft sigh. โ€œBut it's so amazing to watch him grow up.โ€

โ€œI know, little girlโ€, Happy grunted with a nod, bringing a hand up to her cheek, running his thumb over her cheekbone before a smirk appeared on his face. โ€œWe can always add another one.โ€

โ€œOh give me a break, Lowmanโ€, she said with a chuckle and leaned over to kiss him. Leaning her forehead against his, she gave him a faint smile. โ€œWho knows, maybe in one or two years.โ€

Happy pulled back a little, his brows furrowed as he looked at his wife. He hadn't expected her to want a second kid at all, he was just joking around.

He grunted slightly at the suddenly amused look on Cassie's face and ran his fingers through her now straight hair. But then her features hardened again, but a gentle look in her eyes.

โ€œFirst of all, I want to spend a lot of time with Callum first and I actually wanted to go back to workโ€, she began and scratched her forehead before shrugging her shoulders and smiling almost shyly. โ€œBut if I get pregnant again in a few years, I wouldn't mind.โ€

โ€œWe'll see what happensโ€, he rasped, pulling her head closer again with a hand resting on the back of her head as he kissed her again, this time more demanding that made her sigh into the kiss.

Only Callum's squeak and Kozik's voice brought the two back to the here and now. Happy hated to break away from his wife, but he would take his time with her later.

โ€œAre those two lovebirds giving you too little attention again?โ€, Kozik asked with a grin as he took Callum from Happy's arm and gently hugged the boy. Callum was like a nephew to him and he was a big part of the boys life, what Happy and Cassie had wanted. Kozik even was, together with Lee and Samantha, their emergency contact simply because they trusted him with everything.

โ€œBe careful with your wordsโ€, Happy warned with a grin and finally stood up, pulling the brunette to her feet as well.

โ€œHe's crawlingโ€, Cassie announced excitedly, unable to keep the news to herself. Above all, Kozik was Callum's godfather, so he should know when things like that happen. โ€œHe did really well!โ€

โ€œWait, are you kidding me?โ€, the blonde asked with pure excitement in his tone, looking at the little boy in his arms who just smiled at him while he had no idea what the adults were talking about. โ€œYou're crawling, buddy?โ€

Both Happy and Cassie let out a laugh when their boy clapped his hands as if he knew what Kozik had just asked him and made the cutest noises they all ever heard.

โ€œJust did it a few minutes agoโ€, Happy nodded curtly before pulling his wife in for another kiss.

โ€œYou mind making dinner while Kozik and I keep working out here?โ€, he rasped, sliding his hand down her back. He wasn't a macho giving orders to his wife, but at least they could all eat together if she wouldn't mind starting with dinner now.

โ€œSure, I wanted to start soon anyway. And I think the little man here could use something to eat, tooโ€, she smiled, looking back and forth between the two of them. โ€œAre you okay with lasagna?โ€

Partying and work used to be all she was interested in, today she loved being at home with her family and cooking for her husband. She liked this kind of lifestyle and didn't mind if the roles were split up like they were in the fifties. She knew that Happy would help her anytime she needed help and vice versa.

โ€œOh, I love your lasagnaโ€, Kozik grinned, handing Callum over to Cassie. โ€œThanks Cas.โ€

โ€œLasagna is fine, little girlโ€, Happy nodded at her and gave her a quick wink, she giving him a smirk in return before he watched her get inside with their babbling son.

โ€œShe's a great Old Lady. But I've always felt she was made for it. It must have been due to Samantha's influence and then Gemma's while you lived in Charmingโ€, Kozik stated with a grin as he previewed Happy's plan for the playhouse.

โ€œShe does really well. I don't have to explain anything to her or help her with every little thing. She knows how to handle shitโ€, he said, shrugging his shoulders. Kozik could hear in his voice how proud he was of his wife. โ€œShe's just perfect.โ€

โ€œThe killer is going softโ€, Kozik joked, catching the screwdriver that Happy threw at him, to which he just laughed. โ€œNah man, I'm just joking. I'm happy you and her made it work.โ€

Happy just grunted with a nod before he got back to work. It would take a few days to finish this project, maybe even a week or two, but he wanted to get it done quickly.

While Callum was napping in his stroller on the patio until dinner was ready, Cassie decided to help Happy and Kozik with the playhouse.

Happy loved it when his wife lent a hand. Firstly, she looked fucking hot when she did and secondly, it showed that she wasn't wasn't afraid getting her hands dirty. Still, he didn't want her to work too much.

โ€œI think we're done for todayโ€, he decided half an hour later and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

โ€œI think so too. We finished a lot for just starting todayโ€, Kozik agreed with a nod. โ€œLee is gonna help us tomorrow. I bet we are done by the end of the week.โ€

โ€œWell, I already love it! Thanks guys for doingย  thisโ€, the brunette said smiling as she surveyed what they had already set up. The playhouse was finished, the swings were next and after that the big sandbox.

โ€œYou did great, babeโ€, he rasped in his wife's ear and smacked her ass, a grin on his face as she squealed. โ€œLet's get inside, I'm hungry.โ€

After the three of them had thrown the tools into the big toolbox, they made their way inside and just as Happy was about to lift his son out of the stroller, an unknown car parked next to Cassie's car and his bike, making all three of them frown.

โ€œAh shitโ€, Cassie mumbled as she watched a furious looking older woman storm towards them. โ€œThat's Kayla's mom.โ€

โ€œGet Callum insideโ€, he demanded as he looked down at Cassie who just shook her head. His eyes darkened quickly as the older woman came closer and boy did she look angry. โ€œNow Cassieโ€, he added more sternly, which finally got her to listen to him.

He watched Kozik close the door behind his wife before he appeared back next to him with his arms crossed. โ€œShe looks hella pissed.โ€

โ€œWhat do you want?โ€, the SAA growled lowly.

โ€œJustice for my daughterโ€, the woman in her fifties snarled as she came to a stop right in front of Happy, not intimidated by his menacing look. โ€œI don't think she killed herself, that's something Kayla would've never done!โ€

Great, now they had a hurt, angry, vengeful mother to deal with who could get him and Cassie in serious trouble if she researched long enough. Although he didn't worry much about it. Kayla's death clearly looked like a suicide and no one could prove that it wasn't. Nevertheless, he didn't want to be constantly bothered by a strange woman.

โ€œI don't really give a shit what you think, woman. Your daughter knew exactly what she was doing. Ending her own life was the only right thing that bitch ever didโ€, he seethed at the clearly drunk woman.

If she weren't Kayla's mother and still defending her daughter after what she did, he would almost feel sorry for the woman. She could barely stand, swaying back and forth, it was a miracle she'd even made it here. Her breath stank of alcohol and her clothes hadn't been washed in a while.

She let out a bitter laugh, rubbing her glassy eyes with dark circles under them. Then she tried to lash out but Happy quickly grabbed her wrist and glared at her, his chest heaving up and down quickly.

โ€œYou better don't try that againโ€, he spat in her face.

โ€œFuck youโ€, the woman slurred before spitting in his face which elicited a dark growl from him. He was really on the verge of forgetting that he had a woman in front of him and was close to lashing out. That form of disrespect didn't sit right with him. โ€œI know it was James or Cassie, I just fuckin' know it! Let me talk to her!โ€

โ€œThe fuck I willโ€, Happy barked at the woman, pushing her off the patio, then hustled her to her car and pinned her against it, caging her in with his arms. โ€œIf you show up here one more time or if you even think about going after my wife, I'll kill you.โ€

โ€œHap!โ€ Kozik put his hand on his best friend's shoulder and pulled him away from the trembling woman. It didn't do anyone good if he'd attack her now, it would only get him jail time in case anyone would find out.

โ€œYou'll feel how it feels to lose a childโ€, the woman snarled before she slipped in her car, almost missing the seat in her drunk state.

โ€œThe fuck you just said?!โ€ By now Happy was yelling, his eyes staring holes into the now laughing woman who slammed her door shut before Happy could get to her.

It took Kozik all his strength to keep Happy from going after her as she left their driveway but his blood was boiling, too. He was sure the women would get what she deserves but not now and definitely not here. The slightly younger man only let go of Happy once the car was long gone and made sure he wouldn't run over to his bike.

โ€œI know you're pissed and I get it, we'll work it out, Hap. But you need a clear head for thatโ€,ย  Kozik said urgently, grabbing Happy's shoulders to get his attention as he just snorted, pacing around and running his hands over his bald head.

โ€œThat bitch threatened my family, my son!โ€ It was fucking hard for him to calm down, his whole body shaking with anger, but he knew Kozik was right. It wouldn't help anyone if he didn't have a clear head. โ€œShe's gonna die!โ€

He then went straight into the house and took Callum out of his playpen which was standing in the living room and held him tightly, kissing his head before he pulled his wife, who looked up at him confused, into his side and took a deep breath. He wouldn't let anyone, especially not an old woman, harm his family.
