With a beer in her hand Cassie sat down at her father's porch, her feet resting on the wooden railing. Tom's old house, the one she and her siblings grew up in, was a typical cabin surrounded by the woods. Maybe this was the reason why the brunette loved spending time in the woods or at least needed a tree in front of her windows.

Thanks to Lee the house still looked like it did before her father died. He made sure to keep it clean and sometimes he would rent it to friends who needed to stay in town for a while. But he never had the heart to sell it or rent it permanently to someone.

As her gaze was fixed on the large garden, her mind was flooded with hundreds of memories. Some painful, some unforgettable and beautiful, and then there were the priceless memories she would never forget. With a nostalgic smile, she let her gaze wander to the small wooden staircase that led to the porch where she was sitting.

“I can still remember how you once rode your bike down there. Apparently you thought that was a good idea.” Lee sat down in the chair next to her with a grin, also a beer in his hand.

She had asked him earlier if it would be okay for him if Happy and she could stay here for a few days together with Callum and Opie. And that wasn't a problem for him. He himself was attached to the house, very much, after all Tom had been his best friend⸺ more like a brother just from another mother. But secretly he had kept the house in good shape for James or Cassie in the hopes that one of them would want the house at some point. Or maybe Benny at some point, although Lee strongly assumed the teenager would rather stay in the city.

“I still remember that day, or rather the pain”, the brunette chuckled, turning the bottle in her hand. “Dad wasn't an anxious person at all but I remember how fast he put me in the car and took me straight to the hospital because I told him my ribs hurt.”

“Yeah, he called me, totally in panic, once he was at the ER. Never heard him freak out like this. Your brother found it pretty funny and mocked your Ol' Man for weeks for getting so scared”, Lee snorted a laugh at this memory.

“James was a handful”, Cassie smirked before her smile faded slowly. “I really miss him. Some days the pain is better. But when Callum was born I wished that Dad was still here. He would have adored him. I mean, that's what I wish for every single day, but especially when he was born.”

Lee stretched his arm out and put a hand on her cheek, giving her a weak smile. “He would've been the proudest grandpa. Tom loved you and your brothers more than anything. He would've loved Lily and Callum just as much. How are you doing, sweetheart? With all the parent stuff?”

“Oh he would've. He would've loved listening to Lily talk his ear off.” She let out a soft laugh and blinked away her tears. Every time she was here, she just got emotional. But thanks to Lee, she still managed to laugh. “Well, I really panicked when I found out I was pregnant but honestly, I love being a mom. But I couldn't have done it without Happy.”

“Happy is a decent guy, the only guy Tom would've accepted. And if I'm honest, I'm glad you two ended up together”, Lee raised a corner of his mouth, running his thumb over her cheek one more time before taking a gulp of his beer. “He's doing great as a father. I've never seen him this proud.”

“He's the best.” A smile hushed over her face, thinking back to the day Happy held Callum for the first time and the pure love and pride in his eyes. “When I thought that he was dead I⸺ I completely lost it”, she added in a whisper.

“This shit should've never happened”, Lee growled lowly, still pissed that Jax had let it come to that. Happy was the least person that would've deserved to die since he had always been the most loyal. “This is another reason why I want you guys back here. Don't get me wrong, I respect Jax and that he's really trying now⸺ but he put you through a lot of shit.”

Cassie wished she could disagree, but Lee was right. First Jax' Old Lady caused them a lot of problems and then Jax himself. The brunette didn't blame him though and understood that he wanted to fix his family problems, yet this shit caused everything that happened with the Rivals. Because Jax wasn't hundred percent there for the club.

“I would love to come back, leave all that shit behind”, she admitted with a sigh and threw her head back against the back of the chair. “But I can't ask Happy to do that for me, his place is in Charming now.”

“My place will always be here, little girl.” His raspy voice that came out of nowhere startled her and made her sit up straight again, her eyes now on the man she loved who just came through the door.

Leaning against the railing with a toothpick between his lips, he crossed his arms and studied his woman who gave him an almost apologetic look. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Because I don't want to upset you. I'm happy in Charming, I'm happy anywhere as long as you're around. But⸺”, she shook her head, putting on a smile. “It doesn't matter, baby.”

“But it's not the same, I know”, he finished her sentence.

“Yeah”, she eventually admitted with a soft nod.

“Is there a chance you could transfer back?”, Lee asked, a hint of concern in his tone. He felt for the couple and wanted to help them. And he wanted them back here, too. They were his family and belonged here.

“Don't know. At the moment they need everyone. But our prospect is probably getting his patch next month”, Happy told his former Pres before he looked at his Old Lady again, a glimpse of hope flashing in her eyes.

“Let me have a word with Lee, little girl”, he told her with a soft grunt and held his hand out to help her get up. After she was on her feet he pulled her close and pressed a loving yet demanding kiss on her lips. “I'll be with you in a few.”

The brunette nodded and gave him a small smile. If he wanted a moment with Lee she would give him that. “Callum's sleeping, right?”

“Yeah, he's in our bed, put lots of pillows around him so nothing should happen”, he told her, giving her hip a squeeze.

“Thanks baby”, she whispered, stealing another kiss from his lips before she squeezed Lee's shoulder as she passed him and headed to her old bedroom where Happy and she were staying. She quickly changed from her skinny jeans and hoodie into her pyjama before she slipped under the blanket, placed the pillows around Callum behind her and leaned against the headboard of the bed before placing her son on her chest to give him snuggles, which she probably needed more than he did right now.

While Cassie made breakfast, she had put Callum in the infant carrier and placed it next to her but far enough away from the stove in case she would drop something. Her son was fed, changed and a happy baby, which made it easy for her to make some really nice breakfast for Happy and her.

After the talk with Lee yesterday she was already asleep, but she woke up with Happy's arm draped around their son, who slept in the middle, and her. She loved waking up like this, with her two favorite people next to her. Since they were in Tacoma it was just so peaceful. The first two nights they stayed at the clubhouse and this night was the second night here in her father's cabin.

No matter where they slept, they woke up feeling calm. In Charming, both of them always had a strange feeling in their stomachs as soon as they opened their eyes. Here, in contrast, they were completely relaxed and would always spend at least half an hour in bed discussing their plans for the day, or just lying silently side by side and looking at their son. After that, Cassie took care of breakfast and Happy took care of Callum, only today Cassie took over both because Happy was still asleep.

“Morning, little girl”, he smiled slightly as he walked into the kitchen and gave her a quick but loving kiss, nothing more than a pair of gray sweatpants on his body.

The brunette bit her lip at the sight and almost let the pancakes burn in the pan. Only when Happy winked at her with a grin did she clear her throat and shoved the food out of the pan and onto a large plate where the rest of the pancakes were already stacked.

“Good morning! We have pancakes, eggs and bacon”, she explained and put everything on the small table in the kitchen with different toppings for the pancakes. There was another larger table in the dining room, but this one was big enough for the two of them.

“Smells good, baby”, he praised his fiancée, crouched down and put a hand on Callum's stomach and stroked it. “Hey little man. I hope you haven't been too much work for your momma.”

“No, he was an angel, as always”, she smiled proudly and poured juice into two glasses, which she also placed on the table. “May I know what you discussed with Lee yesterday?”, she asked cautiously after they both sat down.

“Not yet. But you'll be the first to know if it works out”, he promised her, but nothing was set in stone just yet and he didn't want to give her false hope. “But there is another thing I wanted to discuss with you.”

“Okay sure”, she nodded in understanding and decided to accept it. Pushing him to tell her would only end in a fight, which she didn't want. She trusted Happy and even though she was dying to know what him and Lee had talked about, she was fine with not finding out for now.

Curiously, she raised a brow. “What's the other thing you wanna talk about? Anything happened?”

“What if we get married here? The garden is big enough for a few guests and all that stuff”, he suggested after he dug into his food, patiently waiting for an answer while her jaw dropped.

“Like, this week?”, she asked baffled, earning a nod from him. After processing this, her eyes grew wide and so did her smile. “Are you serious?!”

A low chuckle vibrated through his chest as he nodded again. “I wouldn't ask if I wasn't serious, little girl. I just think it's the perfect spot. Maybe your dad's gone but getting married here may feel like a part of him is still with us on this day.”

Almost moved to tears, she put her fork down and really had to let that sink in first. The idea Happy, someone who wasn't good at showing emotion or putting themselves in other people's shoes, came up with surprised her. On the other hand, no one ever has understood her as much as he did. The two had always been the perfect match and Cassie was just realizing that once again.

“But we're only here for another week. How are we supposed to plan this so quickly? Do you think we'll find someone who would marry us? And..we can't afford a wedding right now.”  Questions upon questions floated in her mind, but also a feeling of joy rose in her.

“Well, do you need a big wedding? Or are you happy with a small one and homemade stuff instead of a catering?”, he looked up at her and took a sip of his juice, his eyes always on her. He would give that woman whatever she wanted, but it was true that they couldn't afford a big wedding at the moment. But he already had something in mind.

“No, I don't need a big wedding at all! I'd love a wedding with only the people we love the most. The Samtac and Samcro charter plus their partners and children. And homemade stuff sounds much better than catering. And if we get married her we don't need to pay for a location, which saves us a lot of money. I could also ask one of the Old Lady's here if one of them has a pretty dress”, she rambled on and on until Happy stopped her by putting a hand over hers, smirking.

“Take a breath, little girl”, he rasped, waiting for her to actually take a deep breath. After she did and smiled at him sheepishly, he kept talking. “That's exactly what I had in mind. But I want you to get a new dress, pick one you really want. I don't care if it's a normal dress or a wedding dress, you're beautiful in anything.”

“Stop being so cute, you're making me cry”, she mumbled, her heart melting like chocolate. “Are you sure, baby? I promise I won't get one that's too expensive!”

“I know you won't, but I still want you to pick the one you like”, he told her firmly. This was their day and even if they were short on money at the moment, he wanted it to be perfect.

“I can't wait to say yes to you”, she added with a warm smile and slipped her fingers between his, looking at him like she just fell in love with him all over again.

At least she would get married where she felt the most comfortable with all the people around that she cared about. This would be one amazing day. And as long as her favorite people were there nothing could go wrong. With a constant smile on her face they finished breakfast and headed to the clubhouse afterwards to let everyone know.
