π”Έπ•Š it had only been a few days since that eventful day, Jacob and the rest of the pack were busy hunting down Victoria, who was relentlessly pursuing Bella. Rain understood the urgency, but Bella, on the other hand, was slipping back into her episodes. With Jacob and Edward both absent, she had been spending most of her time in her room, frequently emailing Alice. Meanwhile, Charlie and Harry, along with a search party, were out hunting down the supposed animal causing trouble, though Harry knew the truth and discreetly concealed any evidence that pointed to the wolves.

Rain glanced over at Bella, who was sitting by her truck, looking despondent as she watched Rain and her group of friends. Rain sighed but decided to return to her friends, knowing that Bella wouldn't be in the mood to talk when she was like this.

Meanwhile, Victoria, a vampire with fire-red hair and blood-red eyes, emerged from the shadows, her predatory gaze fixed on Charlie. Harry, sensing the danger, quickly raised his gun, but before he could fire, Victoria was already upon him. With a swift and brutal movement, she lifted Harry by his shirt, his feet dangling off the ground as she stared up at him with a cold, calculating look. Just as she bared her teeth, ready to sink them into Harry's throat, a fierce growl cut through the air. Erian lunged at Victoria with all his might, tackling her with such force that she dropped Henry, sending both Erian and Victoria tumbling down a small hill.

Erian quickly recovered, his eyes blazing with anger as he faced Victoria. She stood, her fiery hair whipping around her face as she smirked at him, clearly amused by his defiance. Erian snarled, his muscles tensed as he prepared to strike again. But Victoria was fast-too fast. She dodged his initial attack with ease, her movements a blur as she darted away, heading deeper into the forest.

Erian didn't hesitate, his instincts driving him forward as he gave chase. Behind him, the rest of the pack joined in, their howls echoing through the trees as they pursued Victoria. The forest was a blur of motion and sound as the wolves leaped over fallen branches and ducked under low-hanging limbs, their focus entirely on the fiery-haired vampire who had dared to enter their territory. Victoria was swift, darting between trees with an almost inhuman speed, but the pack was relentless. Erian, leading the charge, pushed himself harder, his breath coming in ragged gasps as he closed the distance between them. He could feel the fury boiling within him, the need to protect his pack, to protect Rain, driving him forward.

But Victoria was cunning. She led them through treacherous terrain, through narrow passes and over jagged rocks, all in an attempt to lose her pursuers. The pack remained close, their unity and determination unyielding as they navigated the forest with a primal precision.

As they neared the edge of a steep cliff, Victoria suddenly spun around, her eyes flashing with malice. Erian skidded to a halt, barely managing to avoid the edge as he faced her. The rest of the pack fanned out around them, forming a tight circle that trapped her against the precipice.

For a moment, the forest was still, the only sound the heavy breathing of the wolves and the distant rustling of leaves. Erian's eyes locked with Victoria's, and he saw the challenge in her gaze. This was far from over.

Victoria's lips curled into a sly grin as she glanced at the pack surrounding her. For a moment, it seemed like she might surrender, but then, with a sudden burst of speed, she sprang into action. Before Erian or the others could react, she darted between two wolves, her movements a blur as she slipped through their tight circle. The pack quickly recovered and took off after her, their paws pounding against the forest floor in pursuit. Victoria weaved through the trees with an almost supernatural grace, the wolves close on her heels, but she was determined to escape.

The forest opened up ahead of them, revealing a sheer cliff that dropped off into a raging river below. Without hesitation, Victoria sped towards the edge, her red hair flying behind her like a banner. Erian pushed himself harder, closing the gap, but just as he lunged for her, she reached the cliff's edge and leaped into the air.

The wolves skidded to a halt at the cliff's edge, their growls and howls echoing off the rocks as they watched Victoria's form plummet toward the water below. She hit the surface with a splash, disappearing beneath the churning waves.

Erian and the pack stood there, their breaths coming in heavy pants, watching the water for any sign of her. But after a moment, it became clear that Victoria had eluded them. The current was too strong, the water too swift for them to follow.

Frustrated but not defeated, Erian let out a low growl, knowing that this was not the last they would see of her. The pack would regroup, and when Victoria resurfaced, they would be ready. For now, though, they had no choice but to retreat, their eyes still scanning the waters below for any trace of their elusive prey.

Rain was sprawled across her bed, her attention drifting between the worn pages of *Pride and Prejudice* and the small piece of paper tucked neatly between them. Erian's hand-drawn smiley face stared back at her, simple yet somehow capable of sending a flutter through her chest every time she saw it. She smiled to herself, unable to help the warmth that spread through her. A note turned bookmark-so typically Erian. She dragged her eyes back to the text, but the uneasy feeling lingering at the back of her mind wouldn't fade.

There was something about the silence around her that felt too thick, too foreboding. Her instincts buzzed with a warning she couldn't quite place, but she ignored it. It's probably just nerves. Nothing bad's happened yet, right?

She was mid-paragraph, where Mr. Darcy's awkward declaration of love for Elizabeth was almost cringe-worthy, when her bedroom door flew open without warning. Bella stepped in as if she owned the place, her expression blank but purposeful.

Without looking up from her book, Rain deadpanned, "You know, there's this magical thing called knocking. You should look into it. It's a real game-changer."

Bella, completely ignoring the joke, said flatly, "We're going for a walk." And just as abruptly as she'd entered, she turned and walked back out, leaving the door wide open.

Rain dropped her book onto her lap and let out an exaggerated groan. "Sure, Bella. I was just enjoying a *quiet* evening with Mr. Darcy, but why not, right?" She shook her head, muttering to herself as she reluctantly slid off the bed and grabbed her jacket. She padded down the hallway to find Bella already waiting at the car, her typical expression of eternal gloom plastered on her face.

Rain climbed into the driver's seat, throwing a playful glance at Bella, who had already settled in the passenger seat. Bella, of course, didn't say a word, not even a hint of small talk. Typical Bella.

Not wanting to drown in the silence, Rain popped in one of her trusty old CDs, the familiar riffs of Metallica's *Master of Puppets* blasting through the speakers. The heavy, growling bass reverberated through the car, instantly brightening Rain's mood. Bella, on the other hand, didn't share the same appreciation for metal.

Bella grimaced, her hand instinctively reaching for the dial. "You seriously listen to this?"

Rain shot her a warning glance, leaning back with a lazy smile. "What do you think you're doing?"

Bella's fingers hovered over the dial, eyes narrowing. "How can you listen to this? It's so... loud."

Rain grinned wider, enjoying Bella's discomfort. "Rule number one in this car, Bella: driver picks the music," she said, pausing dramatically, "and shotgun shuts her cakehole." She punctuated her words with a tap on the steering wheel, turning the volume up a notch just to emphasize her point.

Bella opened her mouth as if to protest, but a heavy guitar solo kicked in, cutting her off. With a resigned sigh, she slumped back into her seat, arms crossed, clearly displeased.

Rain chuckled to herself and pressed down on the gas, feeling the hum of the engine beneath her feet as they pulled out of the driveway. The steady thrum of Metallica kept her spirits high, drowning out the looming sense of unease that had been hanging around her earlier. She tapped her fingers on the wheel in time with the beat, shooting Bella a sideways glance.

Despite her lighthearted mood, the feeling in Rain's chest hadn't fully gone away. Something was coming-she could feel it in the air, thick and charged, like the moments before a storm. But for now, she tried to push the thought away, focusing on the music and the open road ahead. Whatever was coming, they'd deal with it when it arrived. For now, she was determined to enjoy the drive, even if her passenger didn't.
