Chapter 5

The streets of Manhattan were in chaos. The Wrecking Crew, as unpredictable and destructive as always, wreaked havoc as they bulldozed their way through the city. The clash between the villainous foursome and the young heroes of New York had escalated into a massive battle that tore through blocks of the city like a storm. Spider-Man, Iron Fist, Power Man, White Tiger, and Nova were all in the thick of it, using their powers to hold their own, but the Wrecking Crew wasn't pulling any punches.

"Come on!" Spider-Man shouted, swinging from a lamppost to intercept Thunderball's wrecking ball as it collided with a nearby building. "How much more destruction can one team cause? It's like a walking disaster movie!"

"Tell me about it," Iron Fist grunted, delivering a rapid series of punches to Wrecker, who barely flinched. "These guys just don't stop!"

Power Man gritted his teeth, his body glowing with his super strength as he slammed into Bulldozer, sending the massive villain crashing through a car. "I'm done with these guys," he growled.

White Tiger's claws slashed across Piledriver's back as Nova zipped in, firing bursts of energy from his hands, pushing the enemies back. "We need to wrap this up, now!" he shouted, but the Wrecking Crew was relentless, smashing through everything in their path.

It wasn't long before things took a turn for the worse. The Wrecking Crew, realizing they were losing ground, decided to change tactics. With a flash of light and an explosion that rocked the ground, Bulldozer and Wrecker set off a massive blast near the nearby bank. The building shook violently, and the massive structure began to crumble.

"Move!" Spider-Man shouted, swinging toward the falling building. "Get everyone out of here!"

In the chaos, the Wrecking Crew managed to escape with the blast as their cover. They dashed into the shadows, leaving the heroes and bystanders in their wake as the dust settled and the sound of the explosion echoed in the streets.

The dust still swirling around them, the heroes regrouped, each of them taking a moment to catch their breath.

"We didn't stop them," White Tiger said, her voice heavy with frustration. "They're gone. They got what they wanted."

Iron Fist nodded grimly. "But why destroy a building near a bank? There's something bigger going on here."

"Yeah," Spider-Man chimed in, looking around at the wreckage. "They didn't just come to fight us. They wanted to make a statement or cover something up. And it wasn't just about chaos—there's a plan behind this."

Suddenly, a large, imposing figure appeared overhead, the unmistakable silhouette of the Helicarrier descending through the thick smoke. The roar of its engines made the young heroes look up in surprise.

A hatch opened, and Nick Fury, the one-eyed director of S.H.I.E.L.D., stepped out. His expression was as stern as always, and his voice was low and commanding.

"Nice job, kids," he said, sarcasm dripping from his words as he surveyed the destruction around them. "You've caused enough damage to put a small country to shame."

"Uh... whoops?" Spider-Man muttered, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Yeah, didn't exactly plan on that," Nova added, looking at the smoldering wreckage of the building.

Fury's gaze swept across the team, his scowl deepening. "You think this is just another street brawl? You let these punks tear up half the city, and they still got away. You've got a lot to learn."

The team exchanged uneasy glances. They had worked hard to stop the Wrecking Crew, but Fury wasn't impressed.

"Look," Fury continued, his tone shifting to one of serious focus, "this was a distraction, not a random fight. You think they just wanted to blow up a building and get away? No, this was part of something bigger. And I don't like what I'm seeing."

Nova frowned. "You think they were after something else?"

"Definitely," Fury replied. "And you're going to help me figure it out." He paused, looking each of them in the eye. "Starting with your next mission. You'll be working undercover for Damage Control."

"Wait, Damage Control?" Iron Fist repeated, confused. "Aren't they just the guys who clean up after stuff like this?"

Fury nodded. "Exactly. You'll be working as their employees, helping with the aftermath of the destruction. But your real job is to keep your ears open. If the Wrecking Crew is part of something bigger, then Damage Control might have picked up on something you didn't. They'll be cleaning up the mess, but you'll be investigating what that mess was really about."

"You want us to be... spies?" White Tiger asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Not spies, just workers who know how to ask the right questions," Fury clarified. "You'll be in the perfect position to keep an eye on things. Figure out who's behind all this before it becomes an even bigger problem."

Power Man looked uncertain. "You sure about this? I mean, working for Damage Control? Doesn't sound like the most glamorous gig."

Fury's lips curled into a rare smirk. "Nothing glamorous about saving the world, kid. It's about getting the job done. And that's what I'm counting on you to do."

The young heroes exchanged glances, silently coming to a decision. They weren't thrilled about working for Damage Control, but they knew Fury was right—they couldn't let the Wrecking Crew's plan slip through their fingers.

"All right, Fury," Spider-Man said, stepping forward with a determined grin. "We're in. What's the first step?"

"First," Fury said, "you're going to put on your Damage Control uniforms and start cleaning up this mess. And while you do that, keep your eyes peeled. The Wrecking Crew won't be far behind."

As Fury turned and headed back to the Helicarrier, the team got to work, ready for whatever came next. The battle was far from over, and now, it was time to dig deeper into what the Wrecking Crew had set in motion.

SCENEBREAK

'

Y/N stood on the edge of a building, watching Spider-Man and his team—Iron Fist, Power Man, White Tiger, and Nova—working diligently to assist Damage Control with the cleanup. The aftermath of the battle with the Wrecking Crew was a mess, and while the young heroes were doing their part, it was clear the damage was immense.

She couldn't help but chuckle quietly to herself, watching Spider-Man struggle to get everyone organized. "So, the Spider-Kid finally gets some work after himself," she muttered with a smirk, her eyes scanning the scene below.

Venom's voice echoed in her mind softly. "He's doing better than you think, Y/N. Maybe he's not so bad."

She shrugged and leaned over the edge of the building. "We'd better help," she muttered, before jumping down, her suit flickering as she effortlessly landed on the ground in a fluid motion.

Walking with a purpose, Y/N made her way toward Director Fury, who was barking orders to a few agents nearby. As she approached, her presence didn't go unnoticed—Fury turned to face her with a raised eyebrow.

"Director Fury, sir," Y/N said, keeping her voice steady and respectful, despite the buzzing energy of the situation.

Fury's sharp gaze lingered on her for a moment, then flicked to the black suit that clung to her body, the jagged white eye markings shining faintly beneath the dim lights. A knowing look crossed his face, and he sighed. "Venom."

Y/N immediately raised her hands, palms facing up in a peaceful gesture. "I'm not Venom, I'm Wraith," she said calmly, her voice even. "And I'm here to help."

For a moment, there was silence. Fury's hand twitched near his holster as he assessed the situation. The other heroes around them froze and turned their attention to her, wary but intrigued. Spider-Man, particularly, had a conflicted expression, his body language tense as if ready to react.

"Wraith, huh?" Fury muttered, his eyes narrowing. He didn't like surprises, especially when it came to people like her—someone with ties to a symbiote. But he wasn't going to let his personal feelings cloud his judgment.

"You want to help?" Fury asked, his tone serious, but not entirely dismissive. "Then prove it."

Y/N nodded, standing tall as she crossed her arms. "You don't have to worry about me. I'm not here to cause trouble. I'm here to make sure this doesn't happen again." She glanced back at the wreckage of the battle, the debris and wreckage the Wrecking Crew had left behind. "You're dealing with something much bigger than just a street brawl."

Fury looked her up and down for a long moment, his eyes assessing the truth of her words. Finally, he gave a sharp nod. "Alright, Wraith. We'll put your skills to the test. But if you pull any funny business, I'll be the first to end it."

The team stood in cautious silence, their gazes flickering between Fury and Y/N. Spider-Man looked conflicted, his brow furrowed, but he didn't speak out, clearly still processing everything.

"Let's not waste any more time," Fury barked, looking around at his team. "Damage Control can handle the clean-up. You all need to get on this. There's more at play here than just a few villains causing mayhem. You'll be working alongside Damage Control—stay sharp and keep your eyes peeled. The Wrecking Crew might have slipped under our radar, but I'm damn sure they're part of something bigger."

Y/N took a step forward, her tone now serious. "We'll keep an eye out. You don't have to worry about that."

With a nod from Fury, the team scattered to take up their respective positions, working alongside Damage Control to assess the destruction and begin repairs. Meanwhile, Y/N kept a low profile, blending into the background, her sharp eyes scanning for any signs of something more sinister beneath the surface.

Venom, keep an eye on things, she thought, speaking directly to the symbiote within her.

Always, Venom replied with a rumble in her mind. Let's see what's really going on here.

As the heroes worked, Y/N remained alert, ready for whatever mystery lay ahead, knowing that the Wrecking Crew's attack was only the beginning of something much more dangerous—and she intended to get to the bottom of it, no matter what.
