Chapter Two: Unintentional Eavesdropping
I sat down on the barstool, sighing contentedly, gazing around at the flashing lights and gambling machines of the great casino, Las Nevadas.
"Man, is it good to be back here!" I exclaimed. Techno, who was sitting beside me, nodded.
"I definitely agree," he replied. "even though the last time we were here, the circumstances were far less comforting. I'm glad that we can be able to appreciate this place in its full glory."
"You're lucky," I said to Ennard, who was sitting on Techno's right. "You get to work here!"
Ennard nodded. "I do, and it's amazing."
"What sort of stuff do you do?" Techno inquired suddenly. Ennard paused for a moment, hesitating, before he replied.
"I help Quackity out a lot with projects." he told him. "Sometimes we plan out ideas he came up with for the casino, y'know, to improve it. I also hire some of the staff members."
"That sounds fun!" I exclaimed.
Techno began to converse with Ennard about matters that I couldn't care less about. I turned to Vision and White, the new bartenders, to speak with them.
"So, Vision," I said, attempting to initiate a conversation. This is something I usually wasn't good at, especially if it's with a DILF-looking dude and his hot sidekick. "where are you from?"
"I come from Westview, which isn't too far from here," Vision replied, smiling.
"Oh, I know where that is!" I exclaimed. I had been to Westview before when I was driving around one day, and it was a beautiful little town near The Big City. A random burst of energy rushed into me, and I suddenly asked; "Do you and White live together?"
Vision burst into laughter at the seemingly gay quality of that sentence. "No, no! White lives- wait, actually, where do you live?"
"An undisclosed location." White told him.
"Oh yeah. I remember now." Vision said. "I do, however, live with my lovely wife, Wanda, her brother, Pietro, and our two children."
"Oh awesome!" I smiled, trying to hide my slight sadness that the DILF was taken, and the annoyance that he was, indeed, a dad. I strongly disliked children.
I decided to try my luck with White. "And what about you? What's your story?"
"Oh dear, you don't want to go into that," Vision advised. "My friend here's got a long and tragic backstory that shouldn't really be revealed until later in the storyline."
"Ah, I see." I nodded, trying my best to not cheer aloud. Here we have another tragic backstory that I was determined to get to the bottom of- after I left to use the restroom. When I returned, however, I would crack open this mystery and solve it!
I stood up from my chair. "I will return momentarily, my friends."
Everyone nodded in acknowledgement as I departed from the bar. I heard a faint whisper from a sexy male voice as I left.
"She seems nice."
I smiled as I moved away from them, knowing that I had gained a friendship with the bartenders as I had done a week ago with Ballora. It was really a shame that she had worked for Quackity, otherwise we would've gotten along. We could've grown to be close friends, and maybe more if we had time-
No! I needed to stop thinking about her!
As I made my way around the casino, searching for the restroom, I heard a familiar voice speaking from nearby, and I recognized it as Quackity. He seemed to be talking to someone, but upon hearing no returning voice, I realized that he was on the phone. I was going to move on, and continue my search; until Quackity said something that heightened my interests.
"We're gonna control the world!"
I froze in my tracks. Who was 'we'? And what did he mean, 'control the world'? I began to backtrack, returning to the spot where his voice was coming from, in order to eavesdrop.
"Oh don't worry, Monty, I have my wa-" he paused at this, as if realizing a mistake. "Ah fuck."
I heard unintelligible shouting from the phone. Monty, or whoever this man was, was obviously angry about Quackity saying his real name.
"I'm so sorry, Boss." Quackity apologized, and my interest was peaked.
Who did he work for?
